I'm sitting, chilling in my vehicle, listening to smooth tunes, eating my lunch at Sunset Circle. The view overlooking the beautiful golf course and lake is incredible. I get out to sit and chill on a provided bench. Its awesome until the Klack- knack of automatic rifles took the vibe from serene to concerning. No sirens yet. SF is State around the corner. A synagogue is nearby- no one seems alarmed. I'm Kool. I gets back in my ride. Google says Po-Po has a shooting range nearby. I guess people can discern the sound of friendly fire vs enemy fire. The good thing is the friendlies should be all warmed up in the event something real actually jumps off. I wonder if the gunshot heckling helps your golf game... LoL sarcastically

I live next to the range, like, right next to it, about as close as you can get. Yeah it's loud, and sometimes they go suprisingly late into the night, and yeah, it's like a giant taunting reminder that I also live next to a CLOSED gun range, and that there are no longer any gun ranges at all in San Francisco city proper, except for that police gun range, right. next. door. BUT, at least all that noise means they're practising, and with all that noise they must be practising a lot, silver linings and all that, the more accurate the police are the better, in my opinion.

I do not understand the shocked noise complaints shown here. The SFPD Range has been at this location since about 1945 AD; the vast majority of these comments likely are made by people who, if even alive pre-1945, likely moved into their residence subsequent to the range going active. It is a police shooting range used primarily for the training, qualification, and re-qualification of law enforcement officers [active and retired] using firearms and related devices. Surprise, surprise, firearms make noise ‘like a gun going off’ - who coulda’ guessed??? -SFPD-Retired

HIGHLY ANNOYING! All day top of the morning to pretty late in the evening. Just shots after shots. LIKE 7AM FORREAL??? My alarm doesn’t Even go off yet but I’m hearing rounds go off. Like how inconsiderate of the people who live nearby. Highly inconvenient super loud. Can be heard over my TV I hate to have my patio open because who wants to hear that? The location is so dumb this is such a peaceful area I THOUGHT until I was told by the property the noise I’m hearing is a police shooting range. Don’t move to Lakewood or beware or the loud shots fired all day.

This range has largely ruined the quality of recreation across the street at Fort Funston. What used to be a tranquil, beautiful place to take a walk is now like walking through a war zone. It says "pistol range" but I often hear rifle rounds as well as occasional bursts of fully automatic fire (small caliber.. my guess is it's somebody's toy they bring out for fun). The city showed blatant disregard for public space by making this range outdoors and located near s recreation area and so close to residences.

Wow it's 9pm and I am trying to sleep and can't because the gunshots haven't stopped all day. Respect what you do, however, would think taxpayers would be respected. Moved here for quiet and calm. Who do I call because of the noise. Not SFPD

I never remember the shooting being so loud and for so many hours late into the evening. It is awful! I hear from my home, I can hear from Stern Grove. It has cause dogs to bolt and run away. Can't they do something to muffle the sound?

  • G Gunsalus

The noise comes in bursts and sometimes lasts for hours. Can hear it in the Park Merced area. So annoying!

  • Logan Maples

Can sometimes operate from 7am to 9pm. Ridiculous, wasteful, and unhealthy.

  • Aaron Liang

Can hear it in early morning and late evening. So annoying. No manner.
