Interesting and attractive Tudor museum. Not very big with small grounds, spent less than 2 hours here. We went on their 'Wonderland' Day (an Alice in Wonderland inspired day)- was decorated lovely. Would have been a nice touch if the staff were dressed as the characters from Alice in Wonderland (could have had a person as the Mad Hatter at the table acting/informing visitors of facts about the museum, could have had The Queen of Hearts wondering around the grounds encouraging children to play the garden games such as croquet, and of course Alice). ♣️⏱️♥️ Enjoyed looking around the museum, the trail was good! Dressing up was fun, crafts were decent too. Took some lovely photos and my children enjoyed their time here. Worth visiting!

I was very lucky to visit with a Groupon half price voucher, which made the attraction extremely cheap. You can get a discount if you show Cadburyworld tickets. My great aunt lived in a cottage that was over 400 years old, and Selly Manor brought back many happy memories. There are two buildings to look at with different rooms all set up.There are costumes, armour to try on, old fashioned toys on the lawn. It was nice to go room to room exploring the different displays and the garden. They have a little gift shop and toilets, unfortunately no cafe which would of been great, but your only a couple of minutes away from the high street with plenty of facilities.

I visited with our two Grandchildren on a "Teachers Training Day" outing. They, (and I), loved it. It's not big but does give a really good idea of the living conditions in a domestic setting over the centuries. There are lots of "hands on" activities, including dressing up in all sorts of outfits, as well as some more thoughtful and very old "please don't touch" items which promote the idea of older and more delicate artefacts having an enhanced value and being worthy of extra care and protection. The buildings themselves are gems. There are no refreshments available on site but a short walk next door is a garden centre with a coffee shop . . .

**Murder mystery** It was my first time attending a Murder Mystery. I really enjoyed myself the youth who organised it were great. They placed their roles well. I went with a group of ladies we all had fun. I really enjoyed my time at Selly Manor. Please do more Murder Mystery's it was such a lovely evening I really went into detective mode. Thanks for an amazing weekend please bring it back again!!=)

Lovely venue for my grandaughter's 7th birthday party (she had her 4th there too). With a pirate theme, there were traditional games and activities. Special congratulations and thanks to Mary who steered the whole thing with a plenty of fun and humour, keeping around 25 7yr olds engaged throughout. They clearly all had a great time! Highly recommended if you want an event that brings the children together as a group in a reasonably small but beautiful setting in Bournville.

I enjoyed my tour of this museum. The Guide was most informative and was happy to answer any questions. The building is over 500 years old and was moved from its original site in 1909 by George Cadbury. Miinworth Greaves is the other building on the site and was also relocated by Cadbury and is thought to be the oldest surviving building in Birmingham. Certainly worth a visit.

Have lived near this little gem for a number of years and never visited. So decided to put that right today. It is well presented with lots of objects to handle as well as clear warnings on objects that need protecting. Many schoolchildren in today but all well behaved and engaged with staff and we still had plenty of chances to see rooms quietly. It is small so doesn't need a lot of time to do it justice. Now know where the phrase 'saving face' comes from.

Visited here last Friday straight after Cadbury World. Went and bought tickets inside (staff were sat relaxing not at the ticket desk) and told us to walk on in ourselves after purchasing. The Tudor houses had hardly anything inside with no history information or staff. Left within 5 minutes. Felt it was a waste of money, best off just taking a photo from outside for free.

I got married here almost 12 years ago and it's the perfect location for an intimate wedding. Just planning my visit for our 12th wedding anniversary in June. I've also been bringing my children here for over 15 years and it's a great little day out that's affordable and a valuable piece of history for children to learn about how we used to live. Thankyou Selly Manor, hopefully one of my 5 daughters will wed here someday

  • Peter Moss

Very pleasantly surprised. Well maintained buildings with a 500 year history. A wealth of furniture and domestic items. Grounds well worth a stroll. Plenty of information on hand as you walk around. Very reasonable admission. Situated in the heart of Bourneville village, in itself well worth exploring. Good idea to take a torch to examine details or use mobile phone.

  • James Farnhill

This was a really nice museum with enthusiastic volunteers and lots of surprises that belie how small it is so it's with exploring all of it. Upstairs in the house are authentic costumes to try on and there is even a (very heavy!) suit of armour. Great for kids and if you've got green fingers the garden is a real inspiration for what you can do in a small space.

  • Steven Parkes

Went for a farm day for children, lovely venue full of history with lots of fun activities. Only a small place however so it will take up about an hour at best if not taking place in any activities. Next to Bournville Green which has a great cafe and shops.

Selly Manor is lovely. I have been there 4-5 times as a visitor and stall holder at craft fairs. The staff are friendly enthusiastic and helpful. The two main buildings are a delight. If you happen to go at chrimbo time and you have kids try and book a slot with Father Christmas. It is magical truly magical. The setting is second to none

  • Graham Gordon

Visited middle of the day. Quiet time to visit. Families arrived later probably after visiting Cadbury World. You get a reduced rate. Look out for the books in each room which give you all the background of what you are looking at. Tip - nice cafe in Wyevale Garden Centre which is next door. Spent another hour around the village green

  • Chloe Westall

Lovely place to look around ! Staff are very friendly and happy to give you information on the manor. Steeped in history and very good to experience! Highly recommend a visit but just check there are no school trips there before you go as it can be too cramped and loud if a class of kids are too bf around the manor ! More

  • Andra Constantin

Really nice tudorian house in a really nice tipical british village. It has old furniture, decor of the age and the option to play and try out the outfits of the old times. It is nice to visit both alone and with children. Walking distance to Cadbury World - the chocolate factory founded by the owners of the Selly Manor.

  • James Windridge

Lovely place to visit - the house is interesting and there were old games for the kids to play. Fun treasure hunt (not sure who enjoyed it more) and a nice chocolate for solving it (just ask at reception when you've solved it). Gardens are really well looked after - really liked the Henry VIII hedge!

  • Aasiya

Really enjoyed our trip today & all the information Meghan gave us. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the Manor & was really polite. Beautifully manicured gardens, we had a lovely day.

Went here on a school trip when I was 7 and we had an activity where we got to dress up, my white classmates all had fancy dresses and they literally gave me a servants outfit (i was the only black girl in the class) My mom was mad as hell and I just remembered so thought I'd share

  • Emily

We attended the Murder at the Manor event and were very pleasantly surprised. The local youth group that put on the event did such a good job and it was really good! It’s a nice way to look around the manor also!

My 6yr old granddaughter and I went for knights and princesses week during half term. She had great time making crown, fire breathing dragon and family crest. Also great quiz round main house and fasinating talk about knights. Lovely at any time for children and adults.

  • Tetiana Kazka

Fantastic place. My son 10 y.i was impressed. You can have some activities with children trying to find hidden objects. Museum is amazingly maintained by stuff and volunteers. I would visit it again since we haven't explored everything thoroughly

  • Susan Groves

Very interesting went as a volunteer on a school trip fantastic experience although very cold. Our guide Mary was a lovely lady and made the day fun and had a wonderful way of delivering the story of the great fire of London to the children.

  • Carol Newman

If you get chance take a look at this piece of English heritage. While we were there we saw a number of people approach but then turn and leave .It is a great place were children can dress in costumes and learn about the History of the area

  • Doreen Sparey-Delacassa

Potentially very interesting - somewhat detracted from by the Harry Potter magic day, which kids loved of course. Certainly worth another visit!
