This is a nice library, with ample room to sit in a chair or at a table and use the internet. Also has a nice patio outside. HOWEVER, like all public libraries, it does NOT enable equal access by the disabled. As someone living with chemical sensitivities, I am usually unable to access this lovely library due to lack of air filtration. Once a lot of people are in this place, it is too filled with fragrance & chemicals too much to tolerate. Since ONE IN THREE people worldwide report experiencing daily symptoms due to exposure to fragrance and other chemicals, you'd think by now that public facilities could at least provide a "clean room," where the air was filtered, for those with allergies, asthma, and other conditions that cause reaction to fragrance, if not update their systems so that the entire library was useable. Get with it city council persons! We need clean air to breathe!!! I also want to say that I think the staff treats patrons very poorly at times, especially if one happens to fall asleep while reading. I once saw them scare a poor old man nearly to death while curtly awakening him. I think he almost wet himself. I do not think sleeping people should be treated so abruptly. I have other complaints about staff as well but the main thing is lack of access due to poor air quality. Thank you.

I gave it two stars because it's litterally the noisiest library that I've ever been in and the staff almost always fails to in forcing the rules. And don't get me wrong I'm not referring to the kids being loud. It also does have a nice section for children. I'm referring to the the adults. For whatever reason an over whelming number of people think it's ok to carry on a conversation with someone on the phone when in the library. Then theres also the phone ringing what seems like every 10 minutes or so with the standard obnoxiously loud and ridiculously stupid ringtone. People shut the Fu©√ up and show some common courtesy and go outside to take the call. After all your in the library. Besides no one wants to hear your conversation with your doctor, spouse, teenager, coworker, grandma, or anyone else your talking with. Go make baby talk and fart noises somewhere else and not in the library...

It's a nice library, and one of the only spaces left in this country that isn't trying to hemorrhage money out of your wallet. But the security guards in the SD Libraries are always so strange. I said hi to the security guard, and she just stared at me like I kicked her dog or something. Then every time I get up to the bathroom, they stare daggers at me like I am up to no good. I am a clean looking person (clearly not homeless/smell good etc.) so I don't know what I could have done to piss them off. Maybe they just hate their lives, if I was them I would hate my life too. The worst part is, I bet if a homeless guy DID stab me, they would just watch while I bleed out.

Seems like a very nice library overall Large and well kept. I felt very weird there as throughout my visit I had staff asking me about my desktop computer that I had set up. Maybe that’s weird but I didn’t have any other place to set it up (that wouldn’t be more weird). One staff member seemed to almost be panicking at first because she for some reason thought I was connecting my computer to the library computers. No one was rude or anything, just very nosey. Just seemed a little stuffy and not welcoming. That all said I can’t conplain too much because it’s a library, free services and internet and books.

This library is so easy to access and request things from. Doing requests and changes online is very easy and worth accessing your account like this. There is a great selection of used books to buy and an impressive Children's section. The staff is always courteous and informative. They go above and beyond providing activities for the children when one is present. I have been going to this site for 5 years, and I have never been disappointed. They have in-person days and contactless pickup, but the hours are somewhat confusing so look it up before heading over, based on your needs.

Absolutely everything a library should be. The quiet charm and comfort of this library is unequaled. We especially love the Children’s library and courtyard areas. The book collections are extensive and the shelving is so well spaced and beautifully organized. Be sure to stop by the little ‘book store’ inside! It’s run by ‘Friends of the library’ volunteers - books are around .50 cents - $2.00! Just put your money in the little box. We couldn’t believe it :) such good deals.

Nice children's section. There are lots of different things to do. The indoor portion has a large touchscreen in addition to the usual children's computer terminals. There is a play ATM, which was the first time I had seen that. There is a covered outdoor area with large foam blocks and other games and additionally a completely outdoor section. Many of the playthings are old and well-worn, but kids live playing with them anyway.

Newer location. The interior is in the arts & crafts style design. lots of nice places to read a book. They have copiers and computers for public use. Sizeable used book store as well. Only thing that kills me about the San Diego public libraries is that they can't use virtual versions of your library card (if you have it scanned into an app like Keyring) and only allow you to look up your account by ID once. Kind of silly.

Great location, extremely clean, spacious, and the staff are very friendly. I spent 6 weeks in this library researching and writing my upcoming book. I would have given 5 stars, but the wireless access could be improved. Most likely it is one or two self-proclaimed "tech savvy" individuals gaming or watching movies. Which should be done at home and not at the library. Overall, a very nice library.

I love this beautiful library. The guard is kind, helpful and makes me feel safe. Most of the people behind the desk are very nice too. Only 1 complaint is a lady who is welcoming when others are around but, is quite the opposite when she and another lady are only ones around. They laugh and snicker when my daughter and I walk by. Makes me feel really bad and uncomfortable.

Clean, spacious, luxurious... Sometimes a kid or two make too much noise, and other times a family of three would occupy the complete public reading room. There are occasions when a patron removes his shoes for the rest of the world to enjoy the view of his dirty toenails, but in general, the place is nice, clean , cozy and spacious.

  • Kent Ngo

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Library has decent selection of books and media. Excellent children's section. Not usually busy enough to find all tables and seating areas occupied, despite being a relatively small library. Quiet and clean overall, even the restrooms. Ample parking. Too many cooks.

I don't know how many people rob libraries these days but the staff seemed quite cautious and on high alert when I walked in wearing my work shoes and all black. Clerks' eyes followed me from the metal detector through each aisle up until check out. I guess people who work at chipotle don't read.

Air conditioning, clean spaces, kind workers, the kid area is cool (but germy, so ya know beware). Lots of seating accessible to wheelchair users near the YA books/kid books. Some neat local art is shown here, and baby groups meet occassionally. All for free :)

  • Km Shams-Ud-Doha

Nice library, big and spacious but not child friendly at all. They have toys and stuff for kid but they dont allow them to play with since some toys make noise. There is no way to play quitely with toys. I think they should rethink their child playing policy.

I've been coming here since I was a little kid and he's one of my favorite spots to relax out in San Diego. The staff is super helpful and it's really well designed. It really is a super comfortable and open space to relax and then explore some good books.

  • Sharona Roesgen

The awesome employees here go above and beyond for you. The library is so clean. A bit dated but thats what makes it so cozy. Absolutley adorable. I come here regardless of where I am to be honest. I used to live down there but still come here regardless.

With few exceptions there is always space to sit and read comfortably, table space for lap top and work materials. The staff is always friendly, approachable and helpful. Beautiful surroundings/decor......very pleasant. I thank the staff for all they do.

  • Patsy Gredvig

The library is full of books! The building is great. The exterior was being cleaned/repaired. The community meeting room was spacious. There were books for sale including large print books for $1.00. Definitely a good place to visit.

  • babygeeshyloh

Lady in the front was rude, I usally go to the library near grossmont. She said 1 print out would be over a dollar which is very expensive. Other than that, it's a big library, its quiet and I'm sure they have great books.

I love this library! I wished it was open during Covid, but sadly wasn’t (through no fault of their own). I also passed out in one of the isles here after donating blood and no one bothered me, so 10/10. :)

  • Nick Melody

Cool spot. I have my own PC they let me use and charge here. Great for looking at jobs and relaxing. Kids area is cool if you have them. Staff is cool so far. The parking has sun shades in some spots.

  • Laura Llanes

Very nice place unfortunately it's so hard to find a desk to work and or study because its majority it's reserved for the after school program but on less busy hours there's no problem with that

  • Dear Abbey

This parking lot is used up by plumbing trucks and it's ridiculously packed. The drivers swap company trucks with their personal vehicles. How nobody seems to care is beyond me.

As far as public facilities go, this place is amazing. The libraries in the heart of san diego... will not leave you with positive outlook for our species.
