Most people associate bowling alleys as fun places with garbage food, but I'm happy to say Shamrock Bowl not only has amazingly fun bowling, but also pretty amazing food! The pizzas are made fresh and the sandwiches on ciabatta buns also have moist delicious (not dry!) meats with really great sauces. They also have flavored fresh cut fries and some other nice apps. What's really cool about this place is the bowling. Before going here, I had no idea that its ONLY CANADA that has 5 pin bowling, and this one of the places in Canada with 5 pin bowling! The balls are smaller, and you actually keep score using cards which is not only fun but makes you actually associate with the people around you instead of relying on technology. What's also cool is if you become the 5 pin bowling champ of Canada, you're actually the world champ at 5 pin bowling!

Oh my goodness! This place was absolutely fantastic. My partner and I went here last night and we'll definitely be back. I haven't been bowling in such a long time, but I spoke to the owners (who are lovely) and I found out that they restored all of the original pieces from the 50's so you actually have an authentic 5-pin experience. (Which I learned only exists in Canada!) We enjoyed a tasty dinner that was so filling. They used simple, flavorful ingredients and the food came out nice and hot. It was also VERY reasonably priced. I'm such a big fan! If you go, definitely try the bread pudding, it was the highlight of my night!!! I was stuffed by the end, but definitely make sure you save room because it is EVERYTHING. So delicious! Highly recommend.

We really really wanted to love this place. We had heard good things and walked in for our son's birthday and, on first glance, thought the place was awesome. Staff were friendly but the owner was incredibly aggressive. He chewed out one of our guests (an 8 year old who had never bowled) for not rolling the ball properly. He accused my husband and I of not supervising at all and chewed me out for taking him to task for making a child at our party cry. His behaviour in front of our guests (and my son) was offensive, lacked professionalism and was disgraceful customer service. I love to support local, but this is not a business that values building community. A huge fail for Shamrock Bowl.

Avoid this place! Terrible customer service, will not call or email you back and will take your things and not inform you. I booked 5 lanes here for a Saturday night and tried to ask about bringing a cake. I called multiple times leading up to the event and no one called us back. They wouldn’t give us shoes until immediately before the bowling time and demanded we give our shoes in. They took my shoes from my table and didn’t let us know. The manager was so incredibly rude. Upon arrival she was having a fight downstairs with someone and then when I asked for anything she would dismiss me, not talk to us and walk away. Save yourself time, money and the energy and avoid this place.

This place is a gem. 5 pin bowling like it was meant to be played. We rented 4 of the 8 lanes for two hours and we had a blast. $5 for shoe rental and $10 per game. Everything is manual, including keeping score which adds to the fun and keeps everyone engaged in the game. The score tables were vintage, they had built-in ashtrays and moisten roller-ball to keep fingers wet and from slipping when playing. Unfortunately there was no water in it The lanes are in great condition and we only encountered a couple blips where the pins had to be reset by an employee. This place also has a pool table, some arcade games and a lounge/bar area. It's great fun!

Tonight I take my colleagues to this place as part of team building activities after our Carnival Cruise training. It is a funderstruck to all of us. Axel explained to us a brief history of Shamrock Bowl as a beginning and makes us treat this hangout much meaningful. The environment is very relaxing with a lot of natural light. Our corporate package includes drinks and food. The food is fantastic. Originally, I think just the regular thick cruist pizza, but in fact, it is my favorite thin-crust pizza with proscutto and smoke salmon pita with layers of vegetables. Yummy. The staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely I go back there again.

I see everyone is complaining about the dust. Just want everyone to know that what is falling is coming from aspestos tiles which are on the ceiling. Many health violations in this place and that is just one of many. To avoid getting sick I’d stay clear of this place, it will get shut down eventually. The window where they place your food is also directly beside the staff bathroom. Less than 5 feet away, there’s some food for thought. Also I’m pretty sure this place DIDNT have any permits to do any of this work. They didn’t have anything posted as I attend the goodlife in the building regularly.

A hidden gem! I have not bowled in years and this 5 pin alley was a throwback in design to the 40s and was so much fun! Well taken care of, spotless, has a great seating area with multiple lounges, pool tables and a bar. Staff were all so friendly, easy going, and helpful. Spacious and clean... though a clear sign is out front, I missed it as the GOODLIFE sign kinda dominants as they are side by side, so once you see the GF sign, you have arrived. Give it try! A great night out with friends or a unique and fun way to take a date!

Not traditional bowling it's 5 pin. I also didn't know going in that we would have to score ourselves...but luckily had some math whizzes that took on that task...lol. Regardless it's pretty fun as long as you enjoy bowling it's a good spot. A little small 8 lanes but they also had a few arcade type games and a pool table coin operated. It was a nice place and had a good time. Oh...I almost forgot...they also have adult beverages So for those who like to have a little drink while having fun...they have that for you too.

  • Jenn P

We reserved a lane in February and had to cancel. We called and were told “no problem, we will give you a credit. It will be in our system for when you come”. We tried to go today and they claimed they have no record of any credit and it should have been emailed to us and wanted us to pay twice. It was terrible customer service to be blamed for their staff’s error. We were there with our two young children and it was one of the worst displays of customer service that I’ve seen. Much prefer the bowling alley on the danforth.

  • Erin Limerick

Honestly this place could be so fun and the venue is great for a group, however Axel is terrible to deal with. The story I have is long winded but he doesn’t care about customers. He is immediately defensive and doesn’t admit when he’s in the wrong (which we were able to prove with an email thread). Kids are not very welcome, they went up to ask for change to use the arcade machine and Axel put his hand in their faces and told them he was ‘teaching them a lesson’. We will never return to Shamrock Bowl.

Shamrock Bowl is a hidden gem in Toronto with great staff and venue for any group event. We went for a small group event and it was great. Prices are higher than most bowling places but the location is still within reach of downtown and the facility is well maintained and very clean. Shoes were cleaned after every use and very organized. Everyone who was there had a lot of fun even if we only stayed for an hour. Drinks are a bit pricey but it's not too bad if you are not planning to stay long.

  • Peter Solomon

Located right on the corner of Cowell Gerrard upstairs from the Goodlife Fitness. The Shamrock has none of the old grimey feel of typical bowling allies. It is bright and stylish. If you haven't eaten, the restobar is sure to have some for you to nosh and a fine assortment of alcoholic beverages l. If an hour of bowling seems much for you, there is also foosball, billiards, pinball, and even a stand-up Pacman console to play. Family fun for the young and old! Great for first dates too!!

  • tablislacens

It's mostly a money grab business. You can book online but you cannot cancel online. Like other shady businesses, you've to call them to cancel. No one ever picks up the phone as it always goes to voicemail, which is, unsurprisingly, full. Even if you jump through all the hoops and get someone on the phone, they'll tell you that refund is only possible if done 7 days prior to booking date. Their email response is sketchy, sometimes they'll respond and at other times they won't.

Nice place.Good selection of drinks. The friends I went with were sent back in time as they went as kids. Its $40 for one hour.shoe rental on top of that.I really dont understand how they price things as we played to play for 2 hours. I paid for drinks as I ordered them and somehow it was still almost $150 at the end.. When we asked if there was a mistake they seemed offended and said I dont make mistakes. Not sure if I will go back if I do only for one hour no food.no drink.

  • Justin S

Booked 3 lanes for my birthday, but caught covid and certainly don't want to spread it around. Called to reschedule the day for a couple weeks from now and was refused. And no, my friends don't want to play during the booked time without me - that's an insane suggestions. So now I'm out $170 Was so excited to check this place out, but clearly they don't want my patronage. Truly baffled by the extremely short sighted nature of this choice.

  • Gloam Treader

Came here with family the other day to give this place a try. We had an absolutely fabulous time! Very kind and welcoming staff, clean, comfortable seating and bowling space. We hadn't bowled 5-pin in decades, and it was very entertaining to play and remember how to score with pencil and pad (not automatic). You do need to be on time, lane reservations are set, and a bell is rung to signal the end of the period. Fantastic family fun!

  • noah bardwell

Lane return malfunctioned for 15 minutes and when I spoke to the owner he assured me we would deal with it at the end of the visit. After our very expensive dinner experience I spoke with the owner about some sort of refund for the 25% loss of time where he very blatantly stated “I will not give you a refund for free drinks” continuing to raise his voice and include insults he asked me never to return to the establishment

  • dave desimone

Visiting Toronto and this was on my list. Website says open at 4PM, sign says open at 4PM, arrived at 4:10PM and door was open. Headed upstairs and was told the place wasn't open and would not open until 9PM. Disappointed I wouldn't have a chance to bowl I asked if I could take a quick photograph and was told no photographs please. Odd, since there are hundreds of photographs of this space on-line.

  • Molly Fequet

My friend made a reservation for her birthday here, to be told on arrival that we'd have to leave within the hour cause there was an event happening at 7pm sharp. It would have been much more appreciated if we could have had more notice to avoid this inconvenience. I'm not saying it's wrong, but we could have and would have made other plans for her birthday if we had known earlier.

  • Scrella

Had a wonderful experience here. Very lovely and knowledgeable owner, he explained the history of 5-pin bowling before we got started, and explained the scoring to us. We had an absolute blast! They have three types of beers on draught, and nice selection of tall cans! Will check out the menu next time we go, which is sure to be soon! Would absolutely recommend!

  • Michael Marschner

This 5 pin bowling place takes you right back into the 50’s. All the equipment seems to be original and amazingly well preserved. We had an amazing time there. Shoe rental is mandatory of course, but at $5.50 I found it reasonable. As a heads up, you are playing four players per lane. So if you’re in a group plan around that.

  • Ivan Kukushkin

Overpriced, general lack of professional. The staff seem to be misguided. The manager doesn't seem to "manage" more so, walk around with the owner from point to point gossiping about the customers and staff. I have witnessed 3 altercations between the manager and staff in the presence of customers. Won't be going back.

  • Budgie Grotesque

the staff were nice, and everything was nice and clean. Looks like it would be a great place to bring some children. Bowling was a bit on the pricey side but seems in line with others maybe just a tad more. Will be going back one day. Some of the balls could use some love as there were some good sized chunks missing.

  • Neo Geilhufe

This is a place for everyone. It's perfect for family and friends. U can hang with family for dinner then enjoy a nice bowling game or just for drinks and dancing with friends. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, the food menu is WOW! The managers Meydge and Axel go above and beyond to make everyone comfortable!

  • Rajanveer Sharma

It was 5 out of 5. The staff was so friendly and we had a great time. The price is also reasonable and they have old time bowling that is unique. There were no technical boards to show scores. You have to calculate it but it is easy though and we had a great time playing like that. It's a must try!

  • Zen Bike Rider

Totally lack of empathy from the owner. Kids birthday party, came late due to dr. Appointment, would not for the life of her give my child a pair of bowling shoes just to wear around. Not how you run a business in a neighborhood full of families. I’ll never give her my business. …

  • Clara Chan

Friends and I came to Shamrock on a wed night for a private event and had a great time! It was clean, service was great, the bowling shoes were comfy, drinks/food were reasonably priced, and the retro vibe of the place was perfect. Highly recommend for family/friend/work gatherings.

  • Jerri Hurley

Beware. Staff are rude and confrontational! Advertised closing at 11 pm and at 9pm told us they were closed. They don't even let you finish your game. Hour is up it is up. The so called manager was yelling at my 65 year old mother. Everything is by hand and poorly maintained.

  • Matthew Plouffe

Very cool atmosphere. Food was unconventional for a bowling ally, I just wanted a hot dog! Would be awesome to see more pool tables instead of an entire seating sections blocked off/unused, they also ran out of loonies which prevented us from staying/playing more pool.

  • Kathryn Gillespie

Great fun bowling but if you stick around to play pool you're screwed. The table has a "magical" trick to make sure you get all the balls. If it sticks and you ask for help the manager has nothing to say. Basically pay more for a faulty table or get out. We got out.

  • Shane Davis

The staff and service is what makes this traditional bowling alley great. Very accomidating with music, drink requests, outside food, scoring help, shoe changes... you name it. Prices feel a bit high for the lanes, although they are pretty much industry standard

  • Rachel Kwok

Amazing bowling place! Great vibe! We went here for a bday celebration with a group of friends, it’s our first time to play the 5 pin bowling, and the staffs were very welcoming and patiently explained the rule to us :) so glad we came here for the celebration

  • Richard Yelland

I called 4 days ahead of my reservation to reschedule due to a personal matter. That should be more than enough notice and I was told bowling reservations cannot be rescheduled or cancelled within 7 days? What an absolute joke, will NEVER book here again.

  • D K

Took a group of kids there today and it was a total hit. Amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff. They came to our lane to see if we wanted a lesson on scoring. It's basically 1947 inside in the best way possible. Yes you need to score

  • Blaze Fireball

Went there for my 18th birthday and had a dang BLAST!!! Everyone was nice and one of the people there explained how to play it to us in a very east-to-understand way! I loved it! Also the arcade games, Foosball, and pool! 100% Recommend!

  • J C

Was a nice little spot. Lanes are oldschol which was neat and they have a small bar area, with a kitchen. I'd maybe suggest some more stuff for their "game area" for small kids that aren't bowling but besides that staff and all was good.

  • Chidi Osemeke

Omg this place closest thing to heaven. The bartender you guys got is 100/10 well worth every penny. Tell your friends, neighbors, kids, and pets SHAMROCK IS THE NEW PLACE ON THE BLOCK. ALSO AS A SIDE NOTE 3 WORDS: SPICY CHICKEN PIADINA

  • Reza Asadikia

Excellent place to have fun for families. A very original vintage environment. Felt like we where in the sixties! Owner very friendly and professional. We went with our seven year old and we had tons of fun. Definitely going back.

  • Graham Devitt

This is probably the most "laid-back" bowling experience I've had. No overstimulating lights, computer screens, or blaring music, and it's got a comfortable retro vibe. Our group had a great time, and we'll definitely be back!

  • Natalya

Amazing place for 5 pin bowling. I came with my bf, we lived it so much, we are definitely coming again. It is lots of fun! Also, this is the oldest bowling alley in Toronto. So, this is also a really cool piece of history :)

  • Pat Bolland

Renovated and restored a few months back, this is the oldest bowling alley in TO, but hardly looks it. 5-pin the way it used to be. Reasonable drink prices and food ... Try the beef and lamb shwarma - the fries are awesome

  • Shivangi Trivedi

Mainly for kids. We went there over the weekend and it was busy. It had a waiting for 3-4 hrs, we shld have reserved beforehand. Took away a star as it has 2 flights of stairs to go up.. 2 of us had to lift the stroller up

  • Nneka Plummer

A really fun bowling spot, and definitely would recommend for beginners! I'm not the best at bowling and found that I could bowl here easily with little to no problems at all. And it's a great family friendly activity!

  • SiKe

The food was very good and not expensive (i ate P.E.T.A with fries) The bowling game made lots of fun. Its a great bowling place . There are also other games like billard and table soccer …

  • Fátima Sanchez

Went there and they ask us to wait an hour, we tried to pay for our turn and they said no, after the hour they booked someone else and that said it was our fault because we didn’t pay(? a waste of money and time

  • Alberto Rodriguez

We had an event a while back for a bday party and they were great. It is a unique spot as brings back vibes from other era. It is a bit pricy but worth it. For us everything was clean and well maintained.

  • moya jackson

A sensational place to Tickle your imagination of how it may have been to be bowling in the 1950’s! And then there is the well stocked bar and the simple but super delicious food! The staff is a delight!

  • Kyle Crockard

Bowling is fun, but there was no air conditioning and it felt like 28 degrees in April. Bartender kept disappearing and the other staff that worked there would have to go find him if we wanted anything.

  • ania Smati

This place is so amazing !! Had the best night of my life with my friends thanks to the amazing crew !! The food was also really tasty and so good !! See you next week for a new awesome night !!

  • Laura P

Really nice new owner. The place looks amazing! I can't wait to bowl there and spend more time there. It's such a beautiful throwback. Give this local business your money, you won't be sorry.

  • iain bateman

Went for a birthday party, and it was great fun. Service was excellent, at one point our lane wasn't resetting, so the staff were on it right away, and we barely waited to continue playing.

  • Cindy R

Coolest bowling alley ever!! Everything from interior design, staff, to playlist this place is the bee’s knees. My friends and I had the best time here we shall be back lots!! …

  • Andrew P

Good little sunday outing. Girls at the bar and behind the front desk where all good. Cool seeing the old school setup. Read up on how to manually write score lol. All in all a fun time.

  • Kyle Clements

An old school bowling alley. Not a disco, not an arcade. This place is for bowling, and grabbing a bite. No computer scorekeeping here, just pen and paper. I'll definitely be going back.

  • Drew Bryant

Just the best times had. No TVs, no neon lights, no gimmicks. Fun bowling, great drinks, pool table, Axel behind the bar is the man. Rave reviews from any and all friends we bring here!

  • robert zagorac

It's awesome. Five. Pin. Bowling. It's five-pin bowling just like when you were a kid! I hear the food is good but I didn't try it since I went late at night. I hope to return soon.
