5 stars for fun, laid back ambiance/decor, a super cute indoor/mostly outtdoor space, great local beer selection, and being ultra dog friendly. 3 stars for food, though. I've been in on 3 occasions, and have always been met with the exact same situation - mediocre food. On this visit, I got the taco trio. I do love that you can customize your combo and pick your tacos! The carne asada, which was highly recommended by our server, was super bland. To be fair, I live in the Land of Carne Asada, so my standards are high. But the baja fiah taco, which should be no less than perfect in La Jolla, was waaaay overcooked, so that the fish itself was chewy and tough under the breading. Nothing else has ever been memorable except their tortilla chips - very fresh and clearly house made. This location cannot be beat, right in La Jolla Shores. It's not uncommon that places with prime real estate are only so-so, because, well...they can be. People will still come, and the throngs of tourists don't mind. All in all, an okay option when you're in the area, but there are MUCH better for food. Save this place for happy hour or watching a game at the bar!

Was in town for a seminar and found this place to go to dinner with my girlfriend. Kelsey was our server and we had nothing but awesome service. We got a table right away, we were offered water from the get go, and gave us recommendations for drinks as there were too many good options. The food was out quick and was phenomenal. Before we left we wanted to let the manager Nolan know how much of great service and how awesome this place was, and he was super nice by chatting with us and giving us recommendation of things to do after dinner. Definitely a spot to recommend to anyone looking for great food, great service and a great establishment.

Basically it's a dive bar, but not at the same time. Very inviting and bright. Half outside so you can enjoy the weather. Excellent atmosphere, great music, great mix of people. Lively. The service is absolutely fantastic. We've been here a couple of times. One of which we just showed up with no notice with a group of 30 people for drinks and they accommodated us no problem with the best service. And it's not just one or two people, it's the whole staff. As for the food, we've only tried a few things but they've been very good! Pictured are our chicken nachos. So good!!!

Excellent fish selections in a friendly inviting environment. Every time I'm here the large bar is full. I had a Wahoo fish salad with avocado. Since I am on a restricted diet the waitress made accommodation for me. Highly recommend this place in La Jolla shores. Very laid back and causal.

6 years ago I rated this place 5 stars but decided to edit my review today. I've been back a couple of times this last year and its not my favorite in this area anymore. The food menu is expensive and boring and portions are small for the money. BUT if you are looking for beachy vibe with great cocktails this is your place. Their drink menu is great. Margaritas are excellent. Appetizers are decent. Just not a meal place.

A nice spot for some quick food and a beer after hanging out on the beach/surfing all day. Got seated outside right away, and our server was super friendly and attentive, even though he had the whole patio. We got the chicken nachos and the Wahoo Bowl, and were very pleased with both - good portions and very tasty. Side note - Parking can be a bit tricky when it’s nice out, but there are enough side streets around that it shouldn’t be a huge issue.

Came in at happy hour $5 wines and 3-4$ tacos. We ordered the tuna crusted sandwhich on brioche bun and split it w a salad. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful and split our food for us. It was very tasty. I had avocafo instead of the guacamole however. It was light and gave us energy to go swimming. We were in and out within 40 min. Would have been sooner if we decided what we wanted quicker. They also have board games if you want to spend sometime there. Unisex bathrooms as well. I recomend and would return.

Great beach vibe bar. The wait staff and bartenders were very attentive. Our table of 3 shared the chicken nachos and sipped on a drink. The nachos were the bomb. We all agreed it was the best seasoned chicken we have had and the portion was huge. One person at our table had the taco trio and said they were all very tasty.

If in doubt, follow the crowds of young people happily eating ... that led us here! Our server recommended the fish and chips and she nailed it. The panko batter paired perfectly with the thick, flaky fish and the sauce was not your typical tartar with a hint of dill and parmesan. My son went for the house burger and it was perfectly cooked with a nice fresh bun. Both our meals came with lots of fries and I loved the slightly spicy coating and perfectly crisp bite.

I cannot imagine why this place has any negative reviews. This place is exactly what you expect from a beach town restaurant. The food was amazing, the drinks delicious, and the vibes are on point. I am lucky enough to live nearby and I will be back. I’m sad it took me this long to try this place out. I had the fish and chips. It was hands down the best I’ve ever had. I highly recommend Sup and Mai Tai to drink. Do yourself a favor and come here when in La Jolla.

Food is average at best. Fish tacos and fish+chips used ono which to me is like eating over cooked chicken breast. Fish is too dense and comes out dry when fried. Ceviche also tasted like it’s been sitting for a while. My wife’s margarita was very tequila forward which was great and service overall was excellent. Food “looked good” but overall pretty forgettable.

Fantastic bar for drinks after a day of sun and surf, or just if you want to relax a bit. The owner is great and takes good care to make sure everyone feels welcome. I haven't had any of the food yet, just drinks, but if the food service is anything like the drink service, I will be eating here in the future for sure!

Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the food the smash burger was awesome. The sauce was delicious (I'm really sensitive to some flavors and it was flavorful without being overwhelming). The Wahoo fish and chips are crispy on the outside, firm and pleasant texture on the inside. The fries (chips) were well seasoned. Overall environment was great! Service staff was friendly.

I got food poisoning (Strombroid) from the baja fish tacos. Something was off and I didn’t finish them. Nevertheless enough to keep me out of commission and very close to the bathroom for the next 36 hours straight. Not fun. I like the place, the beer selection is great, and their twist on guacamole is very good. This was an awful experience though.

Mmmm.soo good...the bacon burger i ordered was delicious and my frys had some season on them witch made the pair with my burger perfict.the wife got bowl of rice and fish that tasted like grilled pork or chicken very delicious and just what she needed to get some good vitamins and minerals frome the sea....would definitely come back infact ben their twice already and might go agian for lunch!!! Amazing place. Def have to stop and enjoy their great food and drinks. Fish and chips. Best. Imagine having that and beer in the open atmosphere. The sun. The decor. The staff. You will feel very welcomed and appreciated. All just a block away from ocean to enjoy. First time there. And I'll be honest I wish them the best so they can be around for a long time. Will def take family and friends there.

Great location near the bear in La Joya I had the wahoo fish and chips, the fish is very dense almost chicken like in texture. It was a good flavored fish and the aoli sauce for dipping is delicious! We also had a cheese burger and was up to par. I would go back if I was a local. The service was excellent and we got a table right away.

Fish ‘N Chips are really good here and the tartar sauce is very tasty. I got the beach burger substituted with a veggie patty and it was good but average. What a nice, local find here in Las Jolla. The outdoor seating is on Ave. De La Playa, so you get a view of all the sea going tourists and shops. A real pleasant setting. Our server, Alia, was very attentive to our needs. The fish & chips were served with a spicey seasoned french fries. Definitely would eat here again!! The Wahoo Salad was devine and exceptional. Alex is the bomb!!

Serious lack of vegetarian options. They had tacos but with just peppers and avocado. They removed the veggie burger from the menu but still kept it on the physical menu which was misleading. My friend ordered the poke bowl and the size was small with barely any other ingredients. The crowd, vibe, ambience and staff was great though! Your typical beach town vibe.

Our experience was disappointing from start to finish. The chips were stale. and the fish and beef tacos were among the worst we’ve ever had. The overall food quality was below average, and the dining experience was horrible. we were overcharged for bad food and service. I cannot recommend this place.

This is the kind of place I was expecting to find close to the beach. Just a couple blocks from La Jolla, this place has a combination of American, Mexican, and SoCal menu options. The atmosphere is extremely laid back and the staff was friendly. The kids meals are a bit overpriced, but other than that I was pleased with place.

Fantastic vibes. Feels like you’re on vacation and in your own paradise. Staff is friendly and helpful. COVID friendly - strictly enforced 6 feet of separation when not sitting at the bar (which has plastic barriers). Can’t go wrong on the menu, drinks are phenomenal, and games are on the tv!

Unfortunately neither my partner nor I were overwhelmed by the food. She ordered the chilaquiles and I got the bagel sandwich. The sandwich was very filling but perhaps the best part of our meal were the hash browns. HIGHLY recommend you order them as a side if they don’t come with your meal.

Got the one pound burrito - Delicious!! And very friendly staff, the short haired staff member with the red hat helped us and was great. Mango margarita - also fantastic! My sister got the fish and chips, and she said it's the best she's had too.

Great place to grab a few beers. Stopped in here for a quick beer before heading to the airport. The beer is good and the food looked pretty good as well although I didn't have time to get any. It's got a really nice beach and surf atmosphere and decor.
