Normally we would go to a different theatre but with the addition of recliners we have it a try and we were disappointed with everything except the movie. The concession worker was incredibly slow, and the supervisor was around but did not seem to care/notice that she was struggling with the regular order and to ring in a popcorn tin they had for sale. We asked for extra popcorn salt, an ordinary request we make, she looked at it then just told us no for no particular reason. She was also annoyed when we asked for layered butter not just the pre prepared bag of popcorn sitting in the warmer. We also went to outtakes and stood there for close to five minutes before anyone even came out to take an order (no one else was there so it’s not like they were preparing other orders) we then take all our things and have to stand at the unattended ticket booth. Again the worker wasn’t helping another customer just not doing their job. Go and find our seats, movie starts and they don’t even turn the lights off. Multiple people left their seats to ask why. They were turned off eventually but then not on at the end of the show. About 15 minutes after the movie started about ten people made their way in, standing in front of everyone, running up and down stairs, which kept happening through the movie. No one was leaving for the bathroom just playing musical chairs. No one came in to intervene. Cherry on the sundae was the arcade, several games were not working (no out of service signs posted) when we informed the attendant we were told “oh we’re aware” then proceeded to still not post signs on the not working games. Will not be coming back here even if it’s the closest theatre.

Sadly this place has gone downhill drastically over the years. The screens are bigger and the sound is louder then ever, but the service and cleanliness has drastically declined. We were there to see a late show and the concessions only has 3 tills open and the line up was very long. No managers in sight at all. I have been to this location a few times over the last few weeks and in the men's room there has been 1 urinal that has been broken, yep still broken. The bathroom was disgusting with piss all over the floor and the counters filthy. The floors and carpets in the lobby were not much better. Sadly I used to think this theater was really good. Too bad it has gone downhill so badly. I much prefer going to The other theaters now and only go here when it is a matter of convenience.

I like Silver City for many reasons: nice staff, real butter on the popcorn, good visuals/audio but I have realized lately that they seem to have a low budget for maintenance and repairs. (Perhaps low revenue during covid lockdowns?) I thought the toilets and sinks were clean in the women's washroom, but the washroom countertops were derelict (highly water damaged and the arborite was chipping away ALOT); The men's washroom had only one soap container and it was broken off the wall. Insdie the theatre, one arm on the seats was coming off... and I thought the chairs were quite worn and quite stained. The staff are clearly doing their best; but it's time for some upgrades... maybe executives can think about providing the usual/historical comfortable experience this year?

Okay so I’m sure it was a great place to see movies before but now the theatre rooms have these like… absolutely blinding LED lights pointed directly at the audience for no reason at all. Like they’re actually painfully bright. Whose idea was this? Why would they do something so stupid? God it’s like I’m surrounded by four white dwarf stars. And you kind of have to deal with it until the movie starts. Wanted to watch the teasers? Forget about it. You can barely see the screen. Gonna be uncomfortably trying to block the light with your hands the whole time. And again… for no reason at all. Edit: they didn’t turn the lights off when the movie started. I had to go out and remind them. I don’t know if they’re the brightest folks in the world… but the lights sure were…

Had scene points for a free ticket. Here is how it went: The 4 yellow self serve terminals either had out of order signs or were not working. The hallway to the theaters is in the process of replacing the carpet, or it was simply removed. There was no sound during previews and someone had to go tell the staff before the movie. They also had to turn the lights down manually once the movie started. Movie and snacks were fine. Staff were friendly/polite. Washrooms (both genders) had out of order signs on hand dryers, or they were not working. I used to frequent this theater all the time, but it seems to be letting itself go. I would strongly suggest visiting the Grant Park theater until this location fixes itself.

The movie was great but the customer service needs work. I ordered 2 combos and in the middle of taking the order (plain combos off the board) the cashier left before completing my order. It took a solid 10 minutes for another staff member to come and complete my order and they were (understandably) flustered and kept punching my order in wrong. They ended up deleting part of it twice and finally decided to comp that portion for the trouble which I appreciated, but neglected to complete part of my order with the paid for digital movie voucher. Trying to get to customer service over the phone or online is impossible.

One of the worst theatre experiences I have ever had. First time being back since COVID and my family and I are extremely dissatisfied with everything about this theatre. They were grossly understaffed and didn't have any popcorn ready for the 24 or so people who were in line. The popcorn they served us wasn't even popped properly and the bags felt very dense. When I complained to the manager, I was met with rolled eyes and an attitude. On top of all this, the games were mostly out of order and the seats in the theatre were broken and dirty. I will not be returning to this location or any other location.

Movie was fantastic, theatre was awesome. The staff is the reason I am writing this 1 star review. After my movie my parents asked for a bag of popcorn and we proceed to the concessions. Staff members were throwing straws and laughing while myself and another group of people were in line. one staff member short blonde hair proceeded to smile and almost giggle at us as she was walking away. About 4-5 more employees just walked by making direct eye contact before one gentleman finally helped us. Again movie was great but the staff ruined the experience.

  • Bel Martens

The movie viewing is completely fine. Good picture, sound, seating etc. As for the upkeep of the theatre, it is mid-par. It can be quite gross at times and it can be clean at times. The arcade is the sad part. Not even 3-4 years ago this arcade was fantastic. Sadly, they let high school kids come in there and slam and screw around with all the games to the point that half of them do not work. It makes the experience much less enjoyable than it used to be. If they had someone monitoring this area and keeping it clean it could be much better.

  • Randy South

Cinema was dirty. Behind all the seats is old dirty food and dust. Does not look like they sanitized any seats as we were the only ones at this movie and was full before we got in to the movie with no staff entry before us. Lights stay on at least 5 minutes into the movie, so you can't enjoy the previews or the start of the movie, "the full experience ". Staff were friendly but were not knowledgeable of the cineclub discount, took 15 minutes to get the free movie. Food was overpriced, but fresh and decent.

  • The Prepared Canadian

It's a good movie theater . The avx is big but I really find the seats uncomfortable I dont like that they don't firmly stay in place if you want to sit up you have to actively try to sit up or the seat goes back I don't know might just be me but thats my only issue I've never tried the d-box seats alittle to pricey especially when there's multiple people to buy for. On a positive note the theater has an arcade, food and a good amount of different movies playing usually.

  • Bryce Desender

Not a great movie going experience. Better seats at other venues, premium seats that are supposed to enhance the experience did the opposite and distracted cause they just randomly moved. Didn't get any concession, so unable to say how the soft drinks and popcorn were. Movie was great though, even with the distraction. If you are also concerned with covid and mask wearing, once people were seated, all the masks went off for the entirety of the movie.

  • Wen PC

Back to the Movies! Yay! We needed photo ID and our immunization code to enter theatre that was good. Forgot how expensive movies can be. We watched Malignant in Theatre 4. I found the theatre decent but needed a good cleaning. Seats were dirty. Could of used a wiping and a sweep..lol. They spaced ppl out so we were 6 ft apart...nice!. Enjoyed the movie, was nice to be back. Staff were very friendly. 3/5

  • DReid28

Comfortable seating, staff was pleasant. The solid 30 minutes of advertising prior to the movie was WAY too much, and I felt trapped sitting there. The concession prices here are as ridiculous as any theater, I guess, just under $40 for two popcorns, two drinks, two little bags of candy. I still somewhat enjoy the whole theater experience, but it is getting a little impractical these days.

  • Morning Breeze HealthCare, Inc.

For the past twenty years since this cinema was built, it was a nostalgia to watch “Wakanda Forever” and sit on those comfy big seats when they first introduced it twenty plus years ago. Although the cinema starts to show its age but the convenient part is it’s location. It’s adjacent to St. Vital Mall where you can go grab something to eat after the movie or go shopping afterwards.

  • Mélanie Therrien-Hébert

The theatre was fully booked and we had reserved seats. Got to our seats and noticed the seat was dirty. There were no other seats available in the theatre and the movie was going to start in 15 minutes. We approached a staff named Guillaume and he cleaned our seat very quickly and efficiently before the movie started. Was so impressed and pleased with this! Thanks Guillaume!

  • Lianhua T

My family got three courtesy tickets from them cause it had some issues with the show Avatar we watched last time. but when we use those today, we are told two of them had been used in February, that is ridiculous! We had never been any theaters since we got the tickets. If we used it, how come we still have those at hand? Left three tickets with them, don’t need it anymore.

  • Elizabeth Bárbara

I had pretty standard experiences with the theatre and I plan on coming more with my kids. Saturday's morning has some cheap kids movies which is really good. The only problem I had was twice while I went to buy popcorn they had special combos for kids with toys but the employees didn't even know they existed, I ended up twice without the toy because they didn't have.

  • C.A.N.

Hard to spot in the picture but the serving area was riddled with fruit flies/nats. This is a clear sign that the food is not being stored properly and the area is not kept clean. Disgusting. We of course mentioned it to the employee serving us and he literally said nothing. Just continued to pour the butter as if we didn't say anything at all!

  • Mike Denisiuk

Theater overall is a great experience for yourself or with your kids. Food service was quick and efficient, the line up moves pretty quickly, and the movie halls were clean upon arrival . The only thing I'll say needs a bit improvement is their arcade space , lots of machines seemed not to work or were out of service but overall great visit .

With the new current renovations and upgrades to reclining seats, the St. Vital theatre has gone from the worst theatre to a great theatre. I use to avoid this theatre but now I enjoy going. Staff are also present, and friendly when previously there never seemed to be anyone around. Very happy to have my local theatre a place I want to go to.

  • Tim Glover

Overall, I enjoyed my experience. The cashier/server was accommodating and friendly. The popcorn was hot and nicely buttered and salted. The movie theater itself was clean and not crowded. The movie "Otto" was well written and well casted. Yep!! Again, the whole movie experience at Silver City St. Vital Cinema was an enjoyable experience...

  • Clifford James Bloomfield

It doesn't seem correct to leave a review. I went and enjoyed a movie made by somebody else. When I go to a restaurant, I leave a review on the product they created, not the chairs or tables. All movie theaters are essentially the same. The best I can say is, it was equal to any other theater I've been to in Winnipeg.

  • Ben Jiménez

A good theater to be sure, but my gripe would be the over reliance on automation at the kiosks, and the value from the concessions. Otherwise the staff were attentive and friendly, parking wasn't horrible considering it was peak holiday season when we went. The theaters themselves were clean, chairs were comfortable.

  • Darwin Hudson

It's good theater. Clean and maintained, at least whenever I visit. I visit at least twice a month. There is a lot of parking. The popcorn is always fresh, it could be because I go for shows in the morning or early afternoon. The staff is young but not all of them know to smile or greet but it never bothered me.

  • Marina lee

very fun but VERY EXPENSIVE almost 10 dollars for a pop corn. and like 15 bucks for a single ticket. it’s insane! but the pop corn was a 10/10 i’m not gonna lie. if you go with friends it’s definitely worth it as long as you sneak in your own snacks. we snuck in a huge box of chocolates under my friends shirt.

  • roadster2014 ?

Bought tickets online with a gift certificate. Found the process very easy. Ticket was emailed to me. Didn't realize you had to go to the kaisio to get your actual ticket. Once I found out that step everything else went smoothly. Theatre was clean and comfortable. We had a very good experience overall.

  • B. Susan Brown

I went to the earliest show of John Wick 4, the theatre was almost empty, so seating was easy. The theatre is set up to be easy to choose seating in advance, and getting snacks is easy and quick. It's been a long time since I've been in a theatre, the changes have made it a more enjoyable experience

  • Demola Ojo

Fun and family oriented place to visit. The latest movies are available for viewing. There's also a games section. They also offer a personalized touch with pocket friendly packages in case your kids want a fun spot to celebrate special occasions like birthdays. Looking forward to a repeat visit.

  • TokyoGamer

One of the workers only gave me one thor figure with my 2 cups I bought for me and a friend so I ended up having to give my friend the figure because of this I even asked and they didn't give me an extra one but oh well other than that experience was good with another worker would recommend

  • Manh Nguyen

Been going to this theatre for 12 years and the service is still the same: ordinary, good enough, not going downhill nor going better. Most of the times the auditoriums are cleaned properly, but don't be surprised to walk in the movie and see popcorn on the floor or around your seat.

  • originialorianna

saw the taylor swift eras tour movie in the newly renovated avx theatre and WOW. so much leg room and reclining seats. the manager was super cool for the movie too. he was taking photos of fans at the movie poster, clapping, singing -it was amazing. the man deserves a raise

  • Brad Hickling

Great seats, they're super comfortable with arms that fold up to allow you to be more comfortable with your girlfriend, etc. The screens are great, sound is excellent and the concessions are about the same as everywhere else. They also accept scene points which is awesome.

  • Jef Rosh

Popcorn and drink prices are absolutely ridiculous especially since the drinks now are teeny. Did they change something about the pop corn? It was absolutely disappointing I usually finish my large bag and didn't bother this time and it was a regular bag cuz of the price

  • Chrislove

I appreciate the fact that they provide the 3D glasses and also provides the option to recycle them after use. This is a very environmentally sustainable policy. The availability of children-friendly gaming activities and food. Great customer service representatives

  • jeremy K

Usually a good place to go. I find the carpet to be ugly and dated. Lines not too bad thanks to the self serve terminals. Theater screens are very good quality and audio was beautiful. The service itself in seeing the movies is good, but atmosphere needs work.

  • Pink Bubble

Definitely prefer this theatre location: their AVX is fabulous and while the other non-AVX ones are a bit older, its still great to shop at St. Vital as there are many great finds! Popcorn is delicious! Staff are friendly! Great vibe! Plenty of parking!

  • Cortney Joy

Haven't been to this theater in a long time but went recently and all the auditoriums have been renovated and include comfortable reclining chairs which was a very pleasant surprise. Would definitely return when in the area, excellent theater.

  • Allison Mac Intyre

We love this theater. It is our go to for date night, its always clean, always busy but employess are always kind. HOWEVER, we are HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED that in reopening during the pandemic to fully vaxxed individuals they are NOT adequately

  • Rachel Sagar

my favourite cinema ever i loved the nachos and the popcorn even tho cinema food is overpriced i still loved the experience and i will gladly be back to have more nachos and have more fun watching the new footage of spider-man movie ! ❤️❤️

  • Bubba Smith

(1) Fire alarm sounded during a movie. Most of the audience walked out of the cinema into the lobby. A manager there said it was a false alarm and we could go back in. I believe this violates fire code and that only firefighters can make

  • Zach Samborski

So many great memories here. I went on my first date with Wives 1 through 5 and Wives 8 and 9 at this theatre (my first dates with Wives 6 and 7 were at the Polo Park cinema). Wives 1, 3, 8, and 9 loved the popcorn, and while the snacks

  • Adewale Lawal

Great experience with the family.. Went to watch THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER.Excellent theater, great location within St. Vital Centre with an arcade and food court. Lots of theaters and show times. Very safe and enjoyable family experience.

  • Chris Harp

Staff could have went and checked around in the theater more while the movie was playing. Three guys a little down from me wouldn't stop talking, playing with their phones, and had their feet up ok the row infronts head rest. Disgusting

  • Christy

Went to see Top Gun (amazing), however, with about ten ppl in front of the concession stand, it took OVER 30min to get popcorn. Horrible service and made us late to start the show. Seats were good, 2 stars due to concession stand wait.

  • Linda Finlayson

Went on a Wednesday. Found out it was strollers and stars day and they don't shut off the lights during show. Lost the theater experience that day. We didn't realize it was that day. Wouldn't be going back on a day like that.

  • John

Excellent theater. Few are renovated with newer chairs. Great location with an arcade and food court. Lots of theaters and show times. Well managed and checked for vaccinations upon entry. Very safe and enjoyable experience.

  • Arim Tota

The restaurant, outtakes, had run out of pulled pork and gravy, but that was the only downside to going to the movies hungry. Eat a meal somewhere else first. Seats were comfy and big enough for plus sized people like myself

  • Nicole Overby

I absolutely loved my experience with having my daughter's birthday here. Everything was handled so perfectly by staff, & my daughter loved it. Thanks for taking care of us & providing such a great time for everyone. …

  • David Hancock

Decent place, very dated commissary area, seems like they spent more money keeping the arcade section updated instead of the snack bar. And for a silver city....very sub par. But all in it was a nice escape for the family

  • Doris Cambly

Just wish you could still have walk up to. Buy tickets not making it easy to prebuy tickets.. since covid makin it hard We pre bought tickets..and attendant still couldn't scan tickets. Not making it easy to go to a show

  • Lydia McKenzie

They are not checking ID when you show your immunization card. This is not a great way to welcome back guests safely. Very disappointed and will not go back until they start caring about their guests and employees.

  • Kyra

I went to see the Taylor Swift concert movie tonight and the man, who I assume was the owner, was so interactive and pleasant towards us! He was just as excited as we were, it was so great to see. Thanks so much!

  • Kayti Taylor

Excellent service and pleasant staff during a very difficult time. Was nice to be back after 2yrs. There was very few people in the actual theatre so we didn't get to see how they would have social distanced.

  • Roger Fontaine

Took in the 12:30 / noonish show. "65". Wow. Great time of day. We had the theater to ourselves... ok 7 people all total. Great movie if you like space movies and dinosaur movies, this is the ticket for you.

  • Coltyn Stone-Lamontagne

People were pleasent, the floor in the hall to the theater doors looked like it really needed a cleaning... screen was great, projection quality was solid, audio sounded good. will go there again …

  • Quinn May

I love going to the movies. I appreciated that I could purchase a specific seat, instead of first-come-first-serve. Also, the popcorn is always good. For me that's usually the best part of the movies.

  • Dawn Kvamme

Was just at St Vital to see Killers of the Flowering Moon. Was a great movie, time went by very fast b/c you were so involved with the show. Completely remodelled seating. Very clean and comfortable.

  • Prabhkanwalpreet Kaur

If i can give no star i would give it. Am still sitting in theatre watching transformers and how come there is no sound like wth. My whole mood is spoiled and we don't know whats going in the movie.

  • SkonerTM

This is a legacy theater in my heart, however, Ill only be going to the Junxion at Kildonan place mall from now on. St.vital needs to upgrade this theater because it is falling apart and out dated.

  • Artiom M

Very disappointing experience interacting with the management. Their lack of ability to think logically is quite astonishing. Thank you SilvetCity St Vital for reminding me why I prefer streaming.

  • Mike Mcmanaman

Seats were recliner seats.. It's a great environment.. actually talked to the manager as he was near our line that we were in for popcorn and he was a very positive guy who was very helpful ..

  • Holly Alexander

Not the cleanest theater. Love how they squeeze the popcorn bag when they fill it so you only have 2/3 of a bag! Fill them up .. you charge a fortune for something that costs pennies to make!

  • Rich Houston

So glad to see Silver city St. Vital has the fancy recliner seats now. Major upgrade for sure. To me, Siver City has the better A/V experience over most of the other theaters in Winnipeg.

  • Krissy P

A very nice theater. Last time we only visited the arcade. The kids had fun there's quite a few games to play. It wasn't too pricey and they had decent prizes for the tickets. It was fun

  • Nitin Dhanapal

The overall experience was good, this time I was at the dbox seats and it was a unique experience of watching a movie, other things being the usual it's a good go to place for movies.

  • Dustin

Great theater with some good arcade games to play before showtime. Tried the DBox seats this time. The vibration effects were great, but not too comfortable if you're a taller person.

  • Liam Murray

I lost a ring and was having no luck finding it but one of the workers Elena stayed back and helped me look for it and found it wedged in a seat a couple rows down. Thank you Elena!

  • False God

They have upped the experience by installing better chairs and by building an entire arcade around the cineplex. However, they still overcharge egregiously for the food and drinks.

  • Yehani Ashwini

we had booked tickets for the wrong theater, but they switched without no problem. Best customer service! (Excellent customer service from, as I remember Allan, from the front)❤️❤️

  • Barb B

Enjoyed Cinema day this time around. This theater offers some of the best seats around as well. Who doesn't love the excitement of a new movie. And did I mention the popcorn??

  • Angela Fehr

Awesome theater! But man that popcorn is salty! Ease up on the salt! I retained so much water from the salt, my legs swelled for 2 days! Lol! Otherwise everything was awesome.

  • Mike Hope

It was 40 degrees in the theater!!!! People were leaving to cool off during the movie. This is not the first time that it's been super hot in there also everything was sticky.

  • Michael Sparks

The movie Maverick was good. Time for an update regarding the seats. More comfort would be nice. The popcorn was stale. The employees were good at what they do and friendly.

  • Kelly Collins

Our family had a wonderful experience this evening, the staff from the concession to ticket taking and theatre maintenance were all friendly, smiling and kind. Thank you!

  • Jason Skinner

Cleaning is better but deep cleaning is still needed in those cup holders. Staff were friendly and i can still use my scene points. First time back and ill come again

  • T H

I used to work here years ago , staff are pretty rude , there was this one manager named Bill, he was very full of himself . They don’t treat you nice

  • Larry Denisiuk

Great place to go for movies. Popcorn, food, drinks, and arcade all make it pleasant. Theatres are big and have lots of seats and nice comfort.

  • V reina regier

Very good experience. We saw creed 3 and seats were clean and not too many people who h was nice getting food fast and great tasting popcorn!

  • Leslie B

St vital seats are very uncomfortable. I would recommand grant park but the problem is that not all movies play at the grant park theater

  • Chipalo Simunyola

Silver City has updated their seats with recliners. The food and snacks are still too expensive but the experience has been heightened .

  • Simon Lambert

Theatres are still not back to normal. Went to see a movie and there was only about 10 people. I am not complaining. I like it that way.

  • NYB

Totally impressed how comfortable the seats were. The theatre was nice and clean and very friendly staff. The popcorn was awesome.

  • Khai

Nice and small cinema. The surrounding environment is just nice, not too cold and not too hot. Staffs are nice. Toilet is clean.

  • Pat

Mobility issues and climbing stairs up to the selected seat was not clear when purchasing the tickets. Will know for next time.

Good to be back in a theatre. Using Scene points was nice but confusing to figure out how... Therefore only 4 stars.

Shout-out to Alex (favourite movie Finding Nemo) who was awesome! Very friendly, helpful, and excellent service :).
