Visited Sitabuldi fort, this Independence Day. Along with college seniors, juniors and Batchmates we gathered there to visit this place. Just opposite to Railway station. Starting from gate at Railway station end, we registered ourselves and entered. Due to Mansoon it's greenery and natural beauty just get enhanced. At very start you came to a temple of Hindu god Lord Ganesha. Very pleasing surrounding environment. After going forward through woods and rocks we arrived on top of fort. This was site for Sitabuldi War in 1817. Some tunnels just give feel about that war time. Wandering around the fort get a overall good experience.

Historical In the Bhonsla period the hills were an outpost. After the battle of Sitabuldi in 1818 the area came under the British rule and orders were given to fortify the hills. By January 1822 the fortification was completed and occupied by the Commissary of Ordinance. In the 2nd Anglo- Maratha War in 1803 the Bhonslas were defeated and on 17th Dec.1803 the British forced the Bhonsles to make a treaty at Deogaon. For the residence of Elphinstone, Raghuji II gave him a large piece of land extending from the Zero Milestone to the Bardi Police Station and to the west upto the Museum.
The Sitabuldi fort is located atop a hill and was built by a British officer in 1857. At present, the fort is home to the office of the territorial army and is open for public visit during national holidays. A trough has been created around the fort for its protection. Inside the fort is a memorial in dedication to all the soldiers who have died in the war between the Marathas and the British. this fort is situated in heart of the city and is very beautiful awesome loved to see it and the atmosphere is great and amazing to visit here good place.
Free entry. Comes under military, entry was via the railway station opposite gate. I visited on a Sunday, usually i guess it is closed on Sundays. Decent place with a great history, officers there are friendly and guide you. Too much walking around can be tiresome, consider bringing along a cap in summer season. Parking was in SBI parking zone nearby.

I've given the rating 3, only because it's closed for public all year round, except in two or three occasions. It's a historical place, and public should have access to such nice fortresses. This place is not yet developed as a tourist attraction.
