Sometimes I am skeptical of places on main drags like this place right on 700 E., as sometimes places begin to compromise their quality for the quantity of traffic attracted by main streets. But this place did not fulfill that skepticism. I had gone to this place last year around the same time, and do not remember it being as good as it was. On my own budget, I could only order my one entree and try bites of my friends'. I ordered the Drunken Noodle (Pad Kee Mao) over the Pad Siew based on the amount of veggies the Drunken Noodle came with. Sometimes it is disappointing ordering noodle dishes at places because they are dry and not saucy enough leaving them limp and not as powerful. But again, this place did not fulfill that skepticism. It was delightfully juicy in sauce, not overly but the thick pan fried flat rice noodles were perfectly doused in their spicy sweet black soy sauce. I like spice, a lot, and got a level three on a scale of 1-5, and that was more than enough to be able to enjoy my meal without constantly wiping my nose or heavy breathing. It was also perfectly smoky from the pan fry. And the array of veggies were delightful to have amongst the noodles. My partner ordered the Panang Curry which was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy, warm and fresh. The coconut added a delicious sweetness to the spicy red curry without being too much. My friend ordered the Green Curry Fried Rice with tofu which was super unique and fun. The rice was cooked within the brothy curry, the way Mexican rice is cooked within the tomato broth, turning the rice a beautiful green. She had tofu and said they were really great, and the amount of veggies was fantastic. I liked this unique take on traditional fried rice. Another friend ordered the Pineapple Curry and adored it. The sweetness from the Pineapple paired with the spice of the red curry was a hit. I will say, I felt like the prices were a bit steep. I paid $20 with tip for my meal, nothing else. No drink or appetizer. The service was great, attentive and prompt. So it was worth it because I felt the food was cooked slowly, without rush and with care.

This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in years. The hostess was extremely abrupt bordering rude. She took our order, repeated it back to us. We got our appetizers of spring rolls and they were disgusting. They were tasteless and chewy, like the rice paper wrappers had not been softened enough. My friend got her entree after a 40 minute wait in between the disgusting spring rolls. The waitress forgot my order! When I told her what I had ordered she acted like it was my fault! Then it took another 30 minutes to get my paang curry. The curry was THE WORST. It was too sweet, was thick like a very thick gravy. The only vegetables were onions and red bell peppers and the peppers were still completely raw. The chicken was barely there and dry. Seriously the worst curry I have ever eaten and I eat a lot of Thai food! We waited another 20 minutes for our check and finally had to go up to the cash register to get their attention to pay. Not once were we checked on. Seriously, this is the worst food and service I've experienced in years! In addition, this place is expensive. $17 for curry that is inedible? We would have had much better food, for 1/2 the price just about anywhere else. Avoid this place as the service is horrible and the food is worse. I was there on Friday, November 11, 2022 at around 6PM. Your restaurant is THE rudest I have experienced in years and your food is terrible.

I will start by saying…. I normally do not give a poor review without a good reason. My crew mate and I went in search of Thai food…. We went to one place before this one but the vibe was just off. We got to this place Skewered Thai and at first it was wonderful, the ambiance the small space just wonderful. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers, then the entrees. Our servers name is MAY. As soon as the entree came so followed the check ( as to say hurry up ) Every few minutes after she kept coming back to our table and asking if everything was ok and were we ready for a to go boxes, we had just gotten the entree. I ask one of the staff were they closing and he said “ we close at 2100 “ here is was 2030. I am paying attention now and we were the only table being asked so many times if we were ready, not even the folks that walked in at 2015. I will say though the food is amazing but the service from MAY is poor. Don’t let my experience prevent you from some good Thai food just have a different server.

First time here. I was surprised that I wasn't questioned on what heat level I wanted. My food was hotter than I usually like, but the rice helped with it. Veggies in our curries were not bite size; surprised by that also. Luckily, they cut with a fork. I got pumpkin curry, hubby got panang salmon- both were delicious; the panang curry was creamier than mine, yummy!! Husband said his salmon was really tasty! Loved the texture of pumpkin in my curry Female server seemed surprised by my enthusiastic appreciation of the wonderful food?! I don't live in SLC, and am very friendly. Friendliness and appreciation of others is needed more everywhere, so it's not a surprise when it happens!! Go here and enjoy!

I was a regular since this place opened but yesterday (6/19) when I walked in at 3:30 (they are open until 4pm and I called ahead of time to make sure and spoke to someone on the phone) and when we entered, the server ran over to us and said they just stopped serving. I said I just called and you said you were open until 4pm. We told him we knew what we wanted already if there was an issue. He reluctantly seated us. I asked for a coconut milk Thai iced tea, which the owner has repeatedly told me they are more than happy to make for me. This time, however, the server said they didn't have a coconut milk container already opened and they didn't want to open it just to serve me my iced tea. There's a big Thai restaurant game in SLC and plenty of places that are really good. I won't be missing this one.

Fantastic lunch special!! $10 (pre-tax), and there's a decent variety for a lunch menu (two types of curry, two noodle dishes, several stir-fried options, both meat and vegetarian options). You get a small salad first, which I quite liked. And then you get a spring roll with your meal. I got the yellow curry and stir-fried Thai basil (chicken with both of those). I got a level 3 spicy (out of 5). If you don't like spicy stuff, get 1. If you don't mind spicy stuff, or if you like a little, 2 is solid. I think 3, 4, and 5 are all the same, and it's definitely spicy; I had to blow my nose after, and I can still feel the warmth in my belly, haha. Overall, a fantastic lunch special if you're feeling Thai food!! This is probably my favorite Thai restaurant in SLC. Really good amount of food for the price.

I have been coming here for years and it’s always been good, but last night was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We won’t ever be going back. We ordered our food a 1 out of 5 on the spice level but when it came it was so hot we couldn’t taste the flavor. We asked the waitress (Laidy Lyn) if there was a way to fix it and she was extremely rude. I explained that I’d come many times and the food was never this spicy but she argued and said it’s just how they taste. She took our food that we had not eaten and brought us back TINY portions in their place. We were starving after a long day and were so frustrated we were left hungry and paying for food we didn’t eat. It was clearly her way of sticking it to us. We couldn’t believe it.

We were in the area and needed a warm Thai meal and this place came up as highly rated. Definitely busy on weekend nights for sure! Ordered: Pad Thai, Satay Chicken, Thai calamari, Tom Yum soup, BBQ Pork, and Thai iced tea. Pad Thai was a bit off - the flavoring wasn't on point. Satay Chicken was OK. Thai Calamari was over-battered just a bit. Tom Yum soup - too much flavoring was put in and it almost tasted grainy. The BBQ pork was decent, probably the best out of the entrees we ordered. Thai iced tea was on point. I really was excited to try this place based on the reviews, but I've had way better Thai food than this place. Service was good though!

  • Rose Ellen

The friendly staff, dim lighting and jazz music are a nice part of the atmosphere here. The Tom yum soup is not something I would usually order but I thought I’d try something new. I wasn’t disappointed at all! It was sour, spicy and delicious. The fried shrimp skewers were sweet with a tangy sauce on top. The drunken noodles are what keeps me coming back. Such an amazing dish! I had the sticky mango rice for dessert. It had a gooey texture with perfectly ripe mangos on top. My favorite thai restaurant in salt lake!

Had zero spiciness in any of the 3 dishes ordered. Server did not ask if we wanted any level of spiciness, simply brought the overly sweet non-spicy dishes. That has never been my experience before with good Thai food. Also, we went on a Saturday, which on Google does not show that they close from 4-5 pm as they do the other days of the week. A few minutes after we started eating at 3:30 we were given the check. A few minutes later we were asked for a credit card and told they were closing for an hour and rushed out. Why doesn't that show on Google or isn't that explained when we arrived?

Last night, Laura and I had another opportunity to visit this restaurant. The food, the service, and the quaint ambience along with the pricing is sensational. Their curry menu is spectacular and they’re pad Thai is some of the best I’ve eaten. It is amazing how coordinated their service is. if you have not eaten there and you love Thai food you need to visit. If you have eaten there before you know exactly what I’m talking about. To have authentic restaurants so convenient is a blessing.

We had great service and the restaurant was cute and clean, I ordered green curry and it was delicious. Unfortunately, the rice was very overcooked, regular rice. Not jasmine or even short grain or basmati rice. Regular rice is actually fine for me, but not mushy like this. It was solidly stuck together and when I tried to eat it, it turned into paste in my mouth. I ended up using brown rice, which isn't my favorite. That white rice shouldn't have been served. It was clearly overcooked and soggy.

Great taste and fantastic proportions for cost. Almost always have left overs. The nice cottage-ish ambience is a winner. Feels good to just sit and eat here. Have been here multiple times and it has never failed me. Massaman curry and yellow curry are a must try. Worth its slightly higher price.

One of our go to Places for Thai but we now visit less often. Prices have gotten way too high for this type of meal. $18 for an entree with hardly any meat just vegetables? It’s good but this is not a fine dining establishment. We share an appetizer and order one $18 entree each. We skip all drinks and just have water and our tab is still $70 with tip.

We had the drunken noodles and green curry. The drunken noodles tasted ok. A bit too sweet. Not quite authentic. The green curry really don’t taste authentic and did not taste good to me. Too much cream and chicken stock. Not enough aromatics. The service was just ok. Really like the ambience. Great location.

A very good Thai restaurant. Food is excellent (red curry with chicken and a salad with tofu.) Service was good but a bit slow, but once the order was taken, the food arrived as expected. Nice ambiance. For two, and no beverages, $40. But most will spend $30 per person.

I ordered the Somtum and a beer Singha. The papaya salad wasn't like any Somtum I ever had. First of all, there was lettuce in it very strange. Secondly, they didn't serve sticky rice or rice noodles to cool your mouth from the heat and / or soak up the fish sauce and papaya juice. คนไทยภูมิใจในส้มตำมาก

The host was really rude! I was told it was going to be a 25 minutes wait, waited for 35 minutes so I approached her again to see how much longer it may be, she lied saying that she already called me, and even verified my phone number, I showed her my call list, I told her that I can still wait but want to know the wait time, she said “ugh, we’re not even sitting anymore”.

We've been here several times over the past few years and the service and food quality have always been consistently good. Ambiance is fantastic and the exposed brick adds to the charm of the location. Presentation is clean and the food tastes as good as it looks. Generous portions and there is always plenty of meat in the curries. Lunch special is a bargain at $9 and always extremely flavorful! Highly recommend.

service wasn’t great (the people next to me and I both had to ask the waitress for more water/she wasn’t stopping by), the pad see ew was too salty, and I noticed that neither my cousin nor I were asked how spicy we wanted our dish, but the check said “0 stars,” which I thought was kind of rude/weird (maybe they assume white people hate spice lol)…good atmosphere and cheese wontons, though. Overall just “ok”

Don't eat here if you have food allergies or special diets, they don't take it seriously. Sucks to be given food you can't eat. I was served the wrong protein so I reminded the waiter of my order and it came back out after 5 minutes with the same issue (it appeared as though someone had fished out things rather than actually correct the order).

Despite very good experiences with this restaurant in the past, our meal tonight was very poor. The cold garden rolls were stiff and rubbery. The rice paper had hardened and was too chewy to eat. We loved our experience at Skewered Thai! I got the yellow curry which was so good! And the mango sticky rice was to die for!!! I wanted to lick the plate clean, but my husband said that would be tacky... :/ They dye the rice purple with a flour from Thailand! It was price pretty reasonable for a Thai food place, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is great.

Food was overall okay, but pricey. Service was good. Only reason we gave less stars is because we were charged an “automatic gratuity” of 20%!! Nowhere on the menu or at the restaurant does it say that there will be automatic gratuity charged, much less 20% for a group of 4 adults.
