I went to this place on Saturday afternoon with my mother in law who is visiting from overseas. Had a look around, We asked for prices on a few things. We left and came back on the following day as my mother in law finally decided to buy. The same items were slightly dearer than the previous day so as my mother in law requested, I asked the man for the prices that we were given the previous day. And this is when he lost it. He started saying that she should be serving me for that money ( Not exactly sure what that means ??? ) and that she should be happy because he was giving her a good price and that the prices were cheaper because she had asked for three items. When I replied that she had only asked about two items ( I didn't know about the third one ) he lost it even more and went back to his desk to get a little note that he apparently had written the previous day and came back shouting as we were leaving that he had proof that we had requested prices for three items and that she should think before she speaks. All this is after she finally purchased the two pieces as she didn't understand a word and I didn't want to spoil her shopping. But, oh dear.... Such a rude little man.... I have my own business and I know you do not treat your customers this way. Shame on you!!!! Just so you know, I was planning to spend a few hundred dollars but because of your attitude I decided to save my money which was wonderful! Just a few meters away you can find the most wonderful shop with much better prices, great decorative items and furniture so I was more than happy to spend my money there! Happy shopping after all.

This is a really wonderful and unique place for all kinds of deco, Knick knacks, etc etc. You will sure find something suitable and unique. The owner is extremely pleasant and generous. He approached me while I was there with my husband and sister and asked me heads or tails on his coin. I got it right and he hastened me into his shop and asked me to choose a soap. He would give it to me. I couldn’t believe it and asked my sister to choose one as she was visiting from Malaysia. When the owner saw that I offered it to my sister, he immediately said he would give me another free soap coz I was supposed to have the soap. I felt so bad. Now I’m getting two soaps from him for free! He insisted and I walked away feeling so much gratitude and joy for a most pleasant surprise and encounter and WHAT A PLACE! Must visit if you are in Melbourne! ❤️

As a wholesaler supplier to this store I was stunned by Ms Espinosa's review. I suspect we are not getting the full story. I spend 2-3 hours a month in this store and see first hand how Connor treats his customers, always with respect and loads of fun. Shopping at Smits & Bits is not only a gorgeous shopping experience but also financially beneficial to the customer. I doubt anyone would find goods of this range and quality at a better price anywhere else in Australia and I would know. Anyone within coowee of Sassafras would be mad not to visit Smits & Bits, it's fabulous. Also seeing as Ms Espinosa mentioned she had her own business (a dentist), I wonder if she gives discounts to her patients when they come in to see her for dental work. Maybe her patients can expect a discount from her, see how she likes that.

I love this store. I've never seen so many unique & varied pieces of high quality collectables at the most reasonable prices. I never go to the dandenong ranges without visiting Smits & Bits in Sassafras. The staff are friendly & Connor makes everyone feel welcome with his friendly manner & welcoming smile. I highly recommend this point of interest when you visit Sassafras, you will not be disappointed. I'm a keen shopper & at Smits & Bits I am always guaranteed to find something I am truly happy to buy. Not sure if I know of any other store like this anywhere near Melbourne so its definitely worth a visit to this beautiful little place.

Today, my new husband and I wondered the streets of the beautiful little town called Sassafras. Our first day as newly weds we entered this unique and quirky store. The owner wearing his cool new top hat welcomed us in. His wedding gift to us, an antique penny for if we ever have problems making decisions in our marriage, we can flip the coin to get our answer. This honestly was the sweetest gift that we will treasure and hold dear throughout our marriage. Not to mention the adorable love birds we purchased. Highly recommend going into this hidden treasure and having a chat with Connor the owner... you will not be disappointed.

We visited on a beautiful, sunny (for Sassafras) day. The host, resplendent in T Shirt with printed tie, waistcoat and decorative top hat took time to speak to visitors and showed a genuine interest in people. Whether you are looking for a Corinthian suit of armour, An Anzac sunrise bugle or a $5 miniature dragon, there is something for all tastes, even if you weren't aware that you needed it. He also spoiled the ladies with a gift, regardless of whether they had purchased anything. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful experience today at Smits and Bits. Like entering a portal to another realm for a little while, unique and fantastical set-up with friendly, above and beyond service. A great place to wander around and also find some great gifts for yourself or loved-ones. Everything from dragons to fairies to leather bound books to games and much more, a lovely surprise around every corner!

This place is a must-visit for anyone visiting Mount Dandenong. It's advertised as "an experience" and it really is! So many awesome sculptures and decorations to check out, and the owner is very welcoming to customers. There is something here for everyone and you won't find it elsewhere - it's all unique. The prices were also very fair. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

I visited today with my boys. My little one fell over (his own fault) the gentleman from the shop took time out to cheer him up and was just so lovely. The lady member of staff was also extremely helpful and helped me pick out the right gift. Will definitely be visiting again. A very beautiful shop which sell a lot of unique vintage accessories for your home and garden. There are so many options availabe and maybe you can't find in other shop. The owner very generous, he even gave my aunty and I free soap and share few stories about the neighborhood and the shop itself. This shop is absolutely worth a visit.

Smits & Bits Such a cute little place to stop by, my favourite is the outdoor marshmallow roasting pot, creates such a lovely vibe.
