I visit this place on a Saturday evening. My first server was wonderful. He helped us advise what we should order . Our server took a break. So i had a different person to assist us. She was very nasty. She advised to me pay for the bill without providing a receipt. Once she came back with the receipt I handed over my card, so I can pay for the bill. She proceeded to go ahead and to check out .stated that the card declined. I informed her let me see my card. It’s a new card . I needed to activate my credit card she refused to hand me back my card . walked away from me, and held my credit card hostage . I had to walk up to the bar , show her my app , so I can activate my new credit card . She still refused . looked at my phone and then hand me back my credit cardi . This lady ran my card Several times , she could have locked my card , before I was able to activate it , she had a very nasty attitude I would never refer anyone to this place. Bad service. poor customer service

I really wanted to like this bar. ive been there probably 20 times. they never went crazy with the covid restrictions. this seems to be a very chill and very freedom oriented bar and i greatly respect that. But the service here is consistently terrible. at first i thought maybe they showed preferential treatment to regulars. i tried to make it a somewhat regular spot for a drink after work. but after coming here a number of times i realized that the bartenders just don't pay attention to who has been waiting for service. they'll have two bartenders and it wont even be very busy and i'll wait over ten minutes and get no service. more often than not, i get service from the cook or the barback before i get service from the bartenders. i always tip generously and always have my wallet out in front of me when im ready to order. it makes no difference. the cooks, the doorman, the barback, the drinks, the patrons, and the environment are all great. but i typically left this bar more sober than i went in because it takes to long to get service from the bartenders

There is nothing like this place in River North! I like this place! It's a dive bar with hand written drink specials in the window. There is not dress code here! I always gotta go for that cheap shot. Hey it's priced to move! This is a fun place to grab a drink considering all of the other fancy establishments that surround this area. it is only a matter of time before this bar is turned into a Starbucks. I hope that the owner owns the building and is here forever. I love walking by here and just stopping in for one or two...it is a tradition. So next time you are in the area then give this place a try because you will probably fall in love with it.

Calls this a neighborhood place…psh! I live down the street (live in the neighborhood) and was denied entry just by the sight of me and then the bouncer let the person behind me in. I wanted to visit a local bar and was denied entry and an explanation. I asked the bouncer if there was a reason I couldn’t come in, and he ignored me and gave me a smug look. I just moved to the area a few weeks ago and was never treated so rudely in my life. Not even an explanation. I’m extremely offended, and do NOT recommend coming here. Judgmental bouncer who cannot treat people with dignity. Horrible awful sad excuse of a “neighborhood” bar.

This bar is for someone looking to drink after hours with no high expectations. The bartenders were extremely slow and one of the bartenders seems like she may have been on something or really tired she was extremely forgetful and the second bartender was rude. The only saving grace was the food was good surprisingly and the cook was extremely nice which made up for the poor service with the bartenders.

This place is alright. It's a dive in river north. Stopped in with coworkers on a weeknight and while the bar was pretty empty the music was blasting as if the place was much more busy than it was. After finding a table that wasn't directly hit by a speaker, the waitress came over quickly and was attentive and served us quickly. Personally I think there are other bars like this in the area that are a little better (like Mother Hubbards) but if you're looking for a dive in River North, snickers is probably worth checking out to see if it matches your vibe.

  • Autumn Sims

The menus had different prices on them , the service was terrible.. the server had no manners and was extremely rude not sure if she was on something or not.. might I add that it wasn't very busy but yet she managed to forget to put an order in. I Had to go to the bar to even pay the tab .. needless to say she didn't work.for her tip so we left nothing ! worse service I've ever experienced and the food wasn't nothing to talk about.. my daughter took 2 bite of her food and said it taste funny ... it was a grilled cheese. Don't recommend

Standard bar in river north. Rowdy late at night but the right kind of rowdy. When it gets busy it might take a minute for the bartenders to get to you but once they get to you it's fast. Not sure how other bars break down or what the prices were for other beers but mine cost $9.50 before tip. But I will put that down to me not checking for prices before I shot from the hip with an order as I needed a drink after a long day in the city

Went here to grab a bite to eat while visiting Chicago. First it’s def a hole in the wall bar which is and can be nice. However when we walked in we were not greeted, barely even looked at by the two bartenders because they were to busy with the 5 customers and 1 of them offering to buy one a drink the whole time . Waited a min and I decided to ask for a menu to order food….. nope apparently they don’t serve food on Mondays? Glad we left. Also it kinda smelled funny

The doorman at the end of the evening was rude at getting people out, the place closes at 2 and at 1:30 he was already going around the place shouting "come on let's go" @1:45 he tried to kick us out my friend pointed at him that the place was closing at 2 and that we where just finishing our glass to which he replied "are you my boss", until the boss told him to cool it down.

Ok this is a experience in two parts. Went there in the afternoon for a couple of drinks, bartenders out there but all in all great. Enjoyed it. Then went back in the evening on way back to hotel, well what a disappointment, greeted by two rude eastern european women, one from romania, who was by far the rudest and the other from poland. Had one drink and left Will be back but definitely not if one of those two are working.

We spent two hours at Snickers having flown in from New Orleans. Food was good, hot and served fast. Some of the bartender services were excellent. Others not so much. Really clueless bartenders. We're from New Orleans. We know good dive bars with good, cheap drinks. This is not a good dive bar. $17 for a Manhattan? . $9 for a glass of white wine? Best thing about Snickers is we know what a good deal we have in the Quarter.

  • David Connolly

A safe spot I always like to stick the head into while in Chicago. Very convenient location if you're downtown. Cheap and cheerful, good selection of beers, and generally really nice staff. Food is ok. If you're looking for somewhere that isn't the fake shiny over the top sports bar type of place and just want an honest to goodness normal bar, a hard thing to find in the states sometimes, this is the place.

  • emma roson

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. The drinks were exactly as we wanted them, because we made a few changes. So, really appreciated the bartenders patience with us. She was really nice and down to earth. If I’m not mistaken her name was Ariadna. There should be more bartenders like her. The food was delicious and such big portions, which you don’t usually see in bars. We will come back for sure!

  • Jesse Glasshoff

This is a great little hole in the wall place, serving good greasy food and nice simple drinks. It is a place for the locals and carries all flavors of customers to mingle with - from businessmen, lawyers, and doctors to all of your "friends in low places." If you want a place to have fun or a place to relax with a drink, this is the place to go. Nice diner-style atmosphere, cozy bar on a cold night.

  • ditto kiddo

Walking down the street I heard Journey blasting out of this bar and immediately knew there was a party going on inside. (Because it's not a party until someone plays Journey) Great, GREAT atmosphere! (By "GREAT" I mean you're either going to love it or hate it. There's no middle ground on this bar.) Good drink prices for downtown and good food. I never miss a chance to come here when I'm in Chicago.

  • Caralee Jackson

Excellent little dive bar for a quick meal and cheap drinks in an otherwise expensive neighborhood. I got the polish but got a side of the gyro sauce for my fries and now I need to come back to try the gyros. This place is classic Greek/Chicago bar food at it's finest.

They need a point of sale system. The poor bartenders use ticket books and paper clip your card to them so when it's busy you order give them tue name on tye card and they have to go through the pile of tickets to find your check. Then when you wanna leave tyey have to punch in each drink individually into the old register, then run your card. Seems crazy

  • Chris Pickering

looked like a cool local sports bar. Took 12 min to get acknowledged when the bar was only half full. The guy next to me was laughing because The female bartender kept ignoring me and wouldn't make eye contact as she walked by to tab out others. He said I must be invisible. Then get charged $24 for 2 well drink? Wow. I'll look for another place tomorrow.

  • Joseph Shaul

It's a bar. The alcohol is reasonably priced for downtown Chicago. The food's pretty good given you can order it stupid late. People complaining must be expecting Disneyland or something. There's fried food and drunken Cubs fans - and that's how it's supposed to be!

this used to be a great dive bar. it's now expanded and business is too much for my taste. I went here in st pattys and ordered a car bomb. My shot was spilled before I could drink it by someone at the bar. When I finally flagged the bartender down to ask for another she was incredibly rude and told me I would have to pay $10 for just the cream!

This bar is an absolute gem. There aren't too many dive bars downtown so they typically are packing them in. When it's nice out, the windows open up and you can hear patrons belting out the lyrics to Sweet Child of Mine to the sub-par sound system around noon on a Tuesday. They have a pretty good beer list and the staff is friendly.

  • Larry Tickle

$10 for a well vodka and cranberry? In this place? I watched others pay for their drinks and I definitely got swindled. I'm not okay with that. This place could've received my biz for the next few days and every other time I'm in the city. Not anymore. You may be pretty, bartender, but you're not pulling a fast one on me. Shameful.

  • Derek Camp

I was just walking by and decided to stop in. It took 10+ minutes for the bartender to ask for my order. She did not have a welcoming demeanor. The bouncer was nice and welcoming. The other bartender was much more personable and friendly. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to go back. The drinks were pricey too for a dive bar.

  • Kimberly bloxton

The bar tender/waitress was very rude. Seemed like she didn’t want to take our order. We waited at least 15 mins for her to come and take our order. She made us pay for everything upfront! She kept walking off while we were talking. I will take my drink to go. Since she didn’t want to refund me my money for a untouched drink.

  • Abigail Fuller

Thirteen dollars for a basic vodka tonic at a dive bar?? I know this is the city, but come on…. Edit to respond to the owner: You advertise shots for $3, and I got a single pour rail drink. You're telling me a splash of mixer is $10?

Wednesday night and the bar was mostly empty, took about 5 minutes to get recognized after sitting down. Got 1 drink then bartender went back to talking to her friends. Couldn’t get another drink, took half an hour to even close out the $21 from 2 drinks and the second bar tender covering the other area had to do it.

  • Justine Esteves

What a great place to stop by and grab a few drinks. The bartender was so attentive and great to talk with. The chicken wings were very tasty. This a must stop place to grab a bite to eat, have a drink, or watch a sports game. I will definitely stop by here again. Great job Snickers Bar & Grill …

The bouncer on 10/27/22 was an absolute jerk. Tried to get in to celebrate my girlfriends 21st birthday only to get a "I don't know how I feel about this ID" from the bouncer at the door. They obviously hire anyone off the streets so if you're looking for quality service I recommend you to not go here.

Nice place. Finally stopped in and glad I did. Friendly staff and owner. I ordered a gyros and talked with the owner while he prepared it. It was delicious. Better than the gyros places on Halsted and better priced. I definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu. Highly recommended!

  • Dan Stone

BEWARE BEWARE!!! My daughter went to Snickers Bar & Grill, while visiting her brother in Chicago - they ask to hold her debit card on tab - the next day there was an unauthorized withdraw of $40 that was done at their establishment...the same thing happened to her traveling companion.

  • Maria Morris

We just left after sitting at a table for 10 minutes, completely ignored by the waitress. She came to the table next to us 3 times and didn’t even acknowledge we were there. The place is fine for beer and basics, but certainly not worth sticking around for with that level of service.

This is possibly my favorite River North bar. The beer and liquor selection is large (even if somewhat non-adventurous). The food is greasy as well as delicious. I really like the new space they just opened as it allows for large groups to hang out and enjoy downtown.

  • Don Ray

This is a dive bar with a nice beer selection. It has been fairly crowded with a good mix of people each time I went there. The bartenders are really friendly. Only negative is last time I was there they had the jukebox WAY too loud during the Blackhawks playoff game.

  • Brett Benke

This is not a dive bar. Captain is $15 a pour, but I was charged $17. Jameson is is $8 a pour but I was charged $8, then $9. Really? $15 a pour for Captain, at a dive bar? AVOID!!! I have the receipt if you want to see it.

Pretty okay place to grab a drink, watch a game and chill BUT Do NOT order the pizza, it's $20 and frozen garbage. Not sure if the other food is good or not though. Not the bartenders fault. I dont think they have any cooks here.

Great food! After the underground turned us away for wearing shorts on a hot (80ish I think) night, we went here and had cheap beers and good food. Highly recommend if you're looking for a laid back place! Good music too!

Security watched our car get towed and didn't say a word. Also they gave us frozen cheese sticks and we had to send our food back. Bartender was nice and drinks were ok but not worth the price. Our First and last visit.

This bar was great! So much choice in beers and drinks. The bartenders were super awesome and super models. As far as food goes there was a Greek dude slinging gyros off the spit all night, what else could you ask for?

My favorite mainstay in Chicago's River north. Come off the affordable drinks, stay for the cultural experience. Their no frills Greek Kitchen is amazing too. Just what you need to end a fun night in Chi Town.

  • Rory Doepke

Gyros are to die for, love the place, great music/atmosphere. Only complaint, no one answers the phone or it’s non-operational so you can’t place a carry out order (like, ever). Beyond that, great place.

  • David Vega (Tridence)

A great local bar with several TVs to watch sports and limited bar bites with greek dishes. Always some fun characters to enjoy the night with. Jukebox is playing all night. Perfect local Chicago pub.
