Very mixed feelings about this accommodation, however we do acknowledge that we stayed over the new year period which may sway our feelings. Good bits: Firstly, the view is amazing - you can see the whole city clearly, and it’s lovely to sit there in the evening watching the skyline. It’s not too far from the city, but does require a 15-20 minute walk. The kitchen was really good - you get given a set of crockery, including a mug and cutlery that you are responsible for (which works very well), and the kitchen was stocked well with utensils. There are plenty of hobs to cook, so you don’t get in each others way, and the fridges are enormous, so you can put as much as you want in there. Also, the system for tagging bags worked perfectly. It was also very clean, and was cleaned daily by staff. There are quite a lot of places to sit and relax, including an inside area with a big TV and computers to use. The beds were comfortable, you get privacy curtains and under-bed storage too which is helpful. We also want to thank and commend the cleaners - every single day they would clean our rooms and bathrooms (despite some of the bathrooms being left in an absolute state by guests), so we were very grateful for that. Before I go on to the bad bits, I just want to caveat that the majority of negative behaviours we experienced during our stay, were by long-time residents that are working in the city and staying at this hostel long term. Not so good bits: Drugs. Listen, I’m under 30, I know that people will want to smoke some weed every now and then, but during our stay it just seemed that there was absolutely no care or emphasis on the ‘no drugs’ policy set by this hostel. Weed was being smoked everywhere, which really impacted how comfortable we were in social areas. We have been in Thailand, where smoking weed is legal, and there was still MORE drug taking here. In addition to this, it was everywhere across the hostel. Most hostels we’ve stayed at have designated smoking areas, and if people wanna smoke joints that’s fine but it needs to be limited to certain areas, not directly outside our rooms with the doors open. The worst part, was that we had people snorting lines in the bedrooms with no care in the world. We had every right to notify someone, but didn’t want to cause drama in our already hostile room. Our bathroom, despite the shower being very powerful and cleaned everyday (again, thank you to the cleaning staff), was constantly left messy and unclean by other residents. The floors were wet through the majority of the time, and they left sand and dirt residue in the showers after using them. One of the biggest issues here is that the long-term residents behave like they own the place. The rooms are hostile - no one talks to you unless you’re young and hench, the rooms are messy, and my fan was stolen twice. There is no air- conditioning so it is SO hot, which is why I was so mad my fan kept being stolen. The door was also kept open for some reason, again by people staying here long-term which made us uncomfortable, and we were bitten a lot by mosquitoes as a result. There is a noise curfew at 10pm (which is absolutely fine), so they make you move areas at this time, but it makes absolutely no difference. We were moved from one place to another 5 yards away - it doesn’t change the noise levels. Along with that, there was often a lot of noise past 12 making it difficult to sleep. Finally, a very tiny detail, please put card machines on the washing machines and vending machines - every other hostel in Australia we’ve stayed in has had this. Overall, this hostel is a nice place, it’s big, there’s a lot of places to relax, but there are some much needed improvements in terms of the long-term residents who treat the place like their own homes.

First impressions of the hostel as a whole were good, as there was a fairly lively atmosphere at the pool and the receptionist Kelly was really nice. However, when we went to the kitchen to drop off food it wasn't particularly clean, and didn't have much space considering the number of guests. The disappointment continued when we got to the room, which was dirty and smelled. The lockers were all occupied but unlocked and the room seemed very 'lived-in' as opposed to having backpackers. This isn't usually a problem but the room didn't seem like it had been cleaned since people had moved in, with food and belongings everywhere and an unpleasant, musty smell. Due to this we upgraded to a 6 bed from the 8 bed, which was $25 rather than $18, and probably not worth it. We looked at 3 different 6 beds and chose the best but honestly they were all pretty unpleasant, with a same feel as the 8 bed, although these at least had fans and showers in the room. It was extremely hot overnight in the room - the temperature outside was 27° and felt far cooler than in the room at 2am. Someone else in the room said that apparently our one was always the hottest in the hostel. There were good points to the hostel - the pool as mentioned was nice, the showers were good, there was a tv and also an ps4 area and an outside section which got very lively at night (great for a night out). The staff were also great and very helpful, and the hourly shuttle was useful too. But considering the price was average for the area, they really need to clean some more, or at least keep a handle on how guests treat the rooms, as they were pretty grim. I've gone round SE Asia paying a fiver a night in places and I think this was the most disgusting hostel I've been to.

This review is so that a closer eye can be had on the issue. Its understandable that there are long term stays at the hostel but its pretty bad when the condition of the rooms is so questionable that leaving and checking within 30mins is your only option. If it wasn't for the receptionist coming into the room to help with my luggage and bed linen, I'm not sure if anything would have been done about it. The staff member got to see the state a 6 bed female dorm had got with the bin overfilling with old food to the point of flies setting up home. I couldn't work out what beds were available because it was in such a state. I didnt even get a chance of seeing the bathroom and nor did I want to. But as mentioned the staff were friendly and helpful. I didnt get to see the rest of the hostel because I left to go to a near by with spare beds. The location is on top of a hill so not at all fun with all you bags but I did see a minibus so may run a shuttle service. In all honesty this hasn't really left a great experience of Brisbane for me. I'll be happy to leave ASAP.

Incredible place! The guests, the staff, everyone were so nice and easy going. The location was great, walking distance from Brisbane and se easy to go down to the shops, restaurants and bars of West End! The kitchen, room and shared facilities were squeaky clean. Even the pool and chairs sorroundings we're great! I have but one thing, which I'm sorry for, but I simply have to mention.. The beds and pillows. They are so hard. In the Danish prisons they have higher quality and more comfort. That being said I think overall the rooms are luxurious, we had a brand new fridge, privacy curtains by the beds and a brand new bathroom with a shower, which I only had to share with 3 others. An absolute bargain. In my humble opinion the absolute best hostel for the money in Brisbane 100% PS. Loved the view of the Brisbane skyline - incredible! I'm a pig for not having a picture to post here from my room :(

I stayed here for a week in April 2023. The staff were all very friendly & welcoming, especially the receptionist with dreadlocks he’s a legend. I was staying in a recently renovated room that was clean, carpeted and had fans which kept it cool. It was slightllyyyy hot though. It had its own bathroom but the lock was broken, but there are female only toilet & showers down the hall which are very clean. The kitchen is fine. The pool and garden area are stunning and perfect for chilling day or night. There’s a lounge with a tv and couches. The vibe of the hostel is just right: sociable but relaxed. It’s not crazy party central so u can get a good nights sleep, but it’s easy to meet people and there are events like beer pong, trivia and trips to city events. It is situated about 30m walk from the centre of Brisbane, in the west end which is such a cool neighbourhood! Overall, for the price which is among the lowest you’ll find in Brisbane, this is a great hostel & I’d recommend highly

Cool hostel with good vibes, friendly stuff, lots of public seating areas to mingle with other travellers, nice pool, towels provided, public kitchen, awesome location (you can see the CBD, nice view), great price compared to other hostels. My 6 bed-dorm (34) was quite nice, had its own balcony and fridge, and a shared bathroom and shower with only one other dorm. Be aware you'll need to bring your own lock if you wanna use the locker in your dorm. Also, keep in mind you're gonna pay a $20 deposit when checking in, but it'll be returned during check out. Minus one star cause there's no ceiling fans or aircon. There were standing fans but they only benefit the people who sleep in the bottoms of the bunks. Therefore, it was really hot during the night and hard to sleep.

Initially we were accommodated in a dorm for 6 people, but luckily we were able to switch to a single room. The room was occupied by long-term residents and was unfortunately very untidy. We felt very uncomfortable because of the messiness and we could tell from previous reviews that this problem wasn't just ours. In contrast, we were very satisfied with the single room. It was really clean and the bed was comfortable. Also, the bathrooms were never dirty and were cleaned often, which we liked a lot. Overall, the hostel is very nice, the outdoor area is cozy and you have a great view of the Brisbane skyline. The only thing that bothered us was that we often smelled weed because apparently some people smoke weed here. We don't know if this is always the case, but we've certainly noticed it. Nevertheless, all in all we are satisfied with the hostel, especially because you can get to the city quickly.

Great hostel in a budget. Some parking spot (10 AUD/night), you need to reserve on advance. Terrific view of the city. Front desk diligent, Vera help me booking the parking spot on short notice (thank Vera!). Plenty of room to seat and open areas for social. Little details, no place to hang out your towel in bathroom, not to many public bathrooms, kitchen is super nice, but a second microoway need to be installed. At least 5 top gas stove, but for sure not enough for the quantity of guests. A little platic stool will be great in every restroom. (No nice have to place your cleaning face item on the floor for the lack of countertop surface). Can be super noise. More fans on bedrooms. Fans only available for bottoms beds.

Loved our stay at this hostel! The staff are really friendly and helpful. The kitchen is great, lots of space and they give you your own plate set so you don't have to share other people's dishes, so it feels more hygenic too. The common area is really nice, they have a TV with netflix and lots of space to chill and work etc. Showers and toilets were clean and cleaned regularly. Overall the place had a clean feel despite being a busy hostel. The hostel is a bit of a walk from stuff, about 20 mins from the centre but it's a nice walk through the city. Highly recommend if you're staying in Brisbane.

Initially I came for 7 nights, ended staying there over 3 months. I met absolute lovely people there. 100% recommend it. The owner, Rob, is super nice, and so is the rest of the staff. Guests are lovely. The vibe is super friendly and will make you want to stay. The shared areas outside are beautiful (swimming pool, pong pong tables, hummocks etc). It’s located in one of the best districts of Brisbane (West End), surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bars, market on Sunday. The hostel is clean. The kitchen is a bit small and easily crowded, but renovations are being planned. I saw a few cockroaches in the biggest dorms. Despite that I still chose to stay, which means a lot

I give one star only because I can’t give 0. I should have walked out the minutes they handed me dirty bed sheets, but I was tired and I already booked, so I decided to keep holding on. The place is dirty, all over the place you can smell a sweaty/dirty clothes air. If you get into the pool you’ll probably get and std. The girls at the reception were so rude that I wanted to throw something at them. Party at every hour of the day and the night. You won’t get much sleep in there. Oh, and 10$ deposit for a dirty blanket. Only highlight? The bus every hour to get to the centre, with a kind driver. If you’re looking for “somewhere to stay”..think about it twice

  • MZ

Wouldn't reccomend this hostel. Pros are that the location is good and everyone working there was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the cons are plentiful. There's no AC in the rooms and the ventilation is terrible, the beds are barely passable (sinks deep and is just a soft mush with no back support), there's no parking nearby, and the wifi does not work at all. Worst of all, the kitchen DOES NOT HAVE PLATES BOWLS OR SILVERWARE. They charge a 10 dollar deposit to rent cutlery which is absurd, annoying and way more than its worth. A key deposit is totally valid but part of running a hostel is providing basic kitchen facilities.

  • Suzanna

Terraces are nice, showers are fine and clean enough but rooms are subpar- mine was dreary and had light streaming in and gaps under the door so I was woken up by anyone walking by, by people talking in their room, and by people being sick way down the hall at 4am! Probably better for people going to party than for longterm or calmer people. Everything was sticky and the curtain was oily and grim. The kitchen was in need of new pans etc. Overpriced - even at the weekly rate. Girls on the reception were really nice and helpful but the man in charge was pretty rude. Location good but needs a bit of tlc!

Friendly staff and an adorable cat. Enjoyed the hammocks and poolside, but not much else. This place is perfect if you're a 20 year old with no shame or respect for other people. Non stop music blasting from a variety of speakers all day and night, food and beer stolen from my bag and a disastrous kitchen left for the poor staff to clean everyday. When we had to pay a deposit for plastic plates and utensils and told all the rules through meme posters we thought this was a hostel for children. After a few days we understood it is definitely a hostel for grown ass children. Nice cat though.

  • Nathaniel Marsh

Friendly staff on arrival. The hostel was undergoing some renovation when we went there in April. as a result this meant there were sometimes queues for the showers/toilets. toilet roll was also sometimes lacking in some cubicles. Lovely chilled out vibes, decent common room and an adequate kitchen. Plate rental requires a deposit at reception. this hostel seemed very popular with Germans. Only a 40ish minute walk to the main centre or they offer a free shuttle service at regular intervals throughout the day. Very tropical feel to this hostel and a must stay if you like cats!

  • Alice Montrobert

A real homy feeling in this hostel. The personnel and the owner are really nice and don't treat you like dirt (which is too often in Australia) and do, you feel treated like a real customer (private bathroom cleaned and mat changed everyday, room frequently vacuum). The view from the hostel and the neighbourhood are wonderful ! Thank you very much. Only thing maybe is the kitchen can be quite small for this hostel but in time of covid (not full capacity) it was enough.

It was good. The shared bathroom was also neat. In addition to the air-conditioning, my room had a fan too. The lights went off for half an hour in the morning when I was in a meeting, it was definitely an inconvenience. There is wifi here but it's very slow.. I kept cutting in and out of the meeting due to the network connectivity there.. but other than that it was a good stay. The staff are kind and helpful.

My experiences with the hostel were not that good. The management was alright, but it seems quite chaotic and noisy there. People there are most often working as backpackers and did seem that friendly as they barely said hello in the foyer. I was in a six dorm room with a messy guy. It smelled like crap and the guy puked on my backpack before I left. The facilities are alright but I've seem better places for the same money. Not really sure what they did about the trouble maker though.

  • Heather Melling

The facilities were nice, the price was good the staff are friendly BUT .. My lungs are still recovering. This hostel is open air, every room opens out onto a path. They allow people to smoke on these paths and this fills all the rooms with smokey air. The rooms smell like ashtrays, it is disgusting. Just as I'm trying to fall asleep, someone would light up right outside my window and start me coughing again. I tried moving rooms, but the dirty air is everywhere.

  • sami collo

Friendly staff , good services, the hostel is well laid out , beautiful place in generally however the most important is bad the room is very small I’talk about the room I’ve tried , so for 4 people and 6, it was my first hostel in Australia and I’v heard that all the hostels are pretty much the same from that point I don’t know if that’s true , I didn’t love the bad either , anyway it’s good for short stay.

Worst hostel staff: not helpful at all, the two girls who were at the counter were extremely unfriendly, except for the one guy who was driving the van to the city was super nice though (white, tall blue-eyed man). The pool area is nice and they've got some nice games. Easy to make friends in this place and the kitchen is nice and tidy. Rooms were very clean and hostel wasn't loud at night. I'd definitely stay again if it wasn't for the unpleasant staff :/

  • Stefania Ramírez

for a short stay it's ok, without so much luggage, very small rooms They kept our luggage, The guy from Venezuela was a kind person. Point in favor! The Spanish girl was rude! She was not empathetic at all, she did not respect that we could cancel until 6pm as Booking says, she expressed it in a very rude way, it was not necessary.

For the price this hostel is actually really nice. The kitchen is cleaned regularly and there are loads of different spaces to chill out and a big comfortable TV area. Nice pool and hammock area and LOADS of fridge space. The hostel itself has everything you need at an amazing price. Also the free shuttle is really useful to get from the bus station.

Not the most comfortable but has a lot of character. It is just under 3km to the city but they have a shuttle bus which is good. The kitchen was a nightmare and small for the amount of rooms the place has. The bedroom walls don't provide much of a barrier for sound. The staff was easy to get along with, so if you are staying for a week it might be a good choice.

  • Vicky G.

I stayed there almost 3 month... lovely people, awsom staff, clean and pretty central. it is not one of these party hostel, you can have a drink with other people and socialize but mostly at 10 they shut everything down. I prefer a good sleep and when you like to go out there are plenty of places around. great place to stay for a few month or just a few nights.

  • James

Barely slept at all here, had to buy ear plugs - just from people walking past the room or talking in their room, about an inch gap under the door. Room is just a bed and a fan (bit depressing) - no lamp, pictures or colour. Nice view, kitchen was fine and showers good. 2 stars for a week of very bad sleep. Felt glad to leave and find better rooms for cheaper.

  • Azh Vrad

They claim they have car parking but they effectively do not, the hostel is located in a regulated parking area where street parking is limited to 2 hours Monday-Friday. They have a handful of first-come-first serve spaces which will be occupied as soon as someone moves their car.

It's a nice place to stay but a little difficult if you are a little bit shy. The stuff is nice but be ready to be confused the first few days of where everything is, because the place is huge and bit confusing to get around. The showers are actually pretty nice. The kitchen is fairly small and you need your own plates and mugs etc.
