"Wow"
"They ask for a suggested donation of $5 per hour and $5 per part"
"This place is absolutely amazing it is a true blessing to have a place such as this available to the public not only is it affordable in Friendly and a good environment but it's also an exceptional learning experience anything you want to learn you can and I've had nothing but good experiences and I would rate it five stars anywhere anytime to anyone!"
This is not a bike shop, but a bicycle coop where you can come and use their tools to fix your own bike, for a small donation. I really wanted to like this place, as I try to do my own bike maintenance and investing in good tools is expensive. I've been to the shop 2 times, and both times, the place is just chaos. Some volunteers are nice and helpful, but others are just rude and unhelpful. Contrary to what you might think, they don't have all the specialist tools necessary to fix each and every part on a modern bike properly. The tools they do have, I could easily buy myself (some wrenches, allen keys and a rubber mallet,...). Unfortunately, you're better off watching a Youtube video tutorial and buying some tools, or going to a proper bike shop, rather than bothering with this place. The guy that was leaving as I walked in during my last visit asked me "Where is the nearest bike shop around here?" Enough said. Too bad. A well-run bike coop would be great. This is not that.
Mr. Dana is the (Man) I Thank and Praise God For Mr. Dana. I was having a VERY HARD TIME WITH A BIKE. Then Mr. Dana showed me what to do. Mr. Dana is the (MAN) NEW UPDATE.... Saturday March 4, 2023 I returned to Sopo and the next thing I knew another worker name Mr. Travis was helping a customer. It was almost closing time. I noticed that Mr. Travis kept right on helping that customer. Then Mr. Travis turned right around and helped me. Another worker name Mr. Sam helped me as well. You know when it's closing time people want to go home. Mr. Travis went that Extra Mile to help me. Thank God For Mr. Travis and for Mr. Sam.
Wow. What an humbling experience for me! Here i am expecting to go in, donate a bike then get someone to fix mine. NOPE! My understanding of a cooperative was a tad off. I spent about 2 hour tinkering with my bike with verbal help and occasionally physical help from local volunteers. No one person in the place was an expert, and at any given point would chime in on what you needed to do or should do to fix your bike. As a child, I watched my dad tinker with my bike so I never had to. Now, I have the confidence and some new found skills to at least TRY it myself. And get this... supplies are free! Just be sure to donate.
They ask for a suggested donation of $5 per hour and $5 per part. They have all the tools necessary and tons of extra parts. I went in to put a rack on my new-to-me bicycle and make some adjustments to make it more comfy. I believe everyone working there were volunteers. They were super helpful and made sure to correct mistakes I was making. They won't do the work for you, but if you don't know what you're doing, they are happy to help and to teach. They also have a bunch of bikes for sale. I feel so lucky to have a place like this in my town.
This place is absolutely amazing it is a true blessing to have a place such as this available to the public not only is it affordable in Friendly and a good environment but it's also an exceptional learning experience anything you want to learn you can and I've had nothing but good experiences and I would rate it five stars anywhere anytime to anyone!
Get used bikes, parts and accessories... All at great prices. Some repairs, too. Currently, they are only open 3 hours per week, Sunday only, from 12P to 3P. And, well worth the limited open hours. I go there almost every Sunday to get upgraded parts for my bikes, and maybe get another great bike!
Amazing institution filled with used parts and knowledge friendly staff. I was able to change out my pedals but they also checked out my bearings and chain rings. It’s a mix of DIY for common stuff and staff help for bigger fixes. All donation based. I will be back!
Me and my homegirl said used to ride our bikes here and get them fixed and work on them together the guys that work there really know how to help you learn how to fix your own bike I was very satisfied with everybody that was around the guys there seems really nice
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They teach you how to maintain your own bike rather than just doing it for you. Excellent place to shop for bikes, bike parts, and sometimes random accessories they might have.
Sopo is an amazing non-profit organization that sells used bicycles and helps community members repair their bicycles. If you have extra bicycles or parts you want to get rid of, think about donating them to Sopo.
This place is great, I went in looking for something specific, found it, paid a reasonable price for it, made a donation. I wish I could volunteer here, they defonately need the help. It was quite busy.
Sopo needs to open everyday because a lot of people want to shop there, I finally caught them open and was able to purchase a nice used bike. They Do have some nice used bikes. and other bbike part's.
Stopped by to donate a bike and purchased a better bike for $50 that is exactly what I was looking for. Staff (Brent) was very helpful even though the shop was very busy.
Bad luck with a flat tire but we were lucky to find this hidden gem on a Sunday pm, volunteers are extremely friendly, thank you guys for being so patient with us
Absolutely amazing place I've never seen anything like it they help teach you how to repair your bike yourself and it's only donations required
Looked for months to find a Coop like this. Excellent place, excellent selection, and excellent people. Will be coming back to volunteer ASAP.
Great bike shop! My husband and I stopped by to donate a couple of bikes we hadn't used in while. Both of us ended up purchasing better bikes.
Great place to fix your bike. The staff are friendly and very helpful. They helped me fix my breaks, gears, & trued my wheels. Learned a lot!
Great experience! There was a mixup with the bike we purchased, but they make it right. They are knowledgeable, genuine, and affordable.
Super neat place. The new location has no air, so it's super got and stifling in the heat. People are willing to help, just have to ask.
When I was homeless & in deep need of cheap transportation SOPO provided me a great used bicycle for free with proof of being homeless
A great small community of bicyclists! They really care about everyone who visits, and make it easy to repair your own bike cheaply.
I gave this Information to my grandson his bike needs to be fixed and I also told him about the low cost bike program they offer.
Very friendly people, they took my anxiety about fixing my bike away completely and helped me learn how to do the repairs myself.
I have been a volunteer at Sopo for over a year. The shop is a critical piece of the atlanta cycling community.
