This is the central courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. It is an older courthouse, but is part of the Los Angeles Civic Center and is adjacent to the Civic Center Plaza. Literally thousands and thousands of people visit and work at the courthouse every day, and things run remarkably well. The location is accessible with a subway station right across the street, and a nice park area with fountains on the other side of the building in the Civic Center Plaza. There are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. If you have to park, however, be prepared to pay at least $12 or more if you want to park closer. Inside, there are both elevators and escalators to assist you in getting to where you need to go. There is a large clerk's office and many staff at the entrance who are able to tell you where you need to go. This is also the location for the Restraining Order Center, which is designed to help unrepresented people obtain restraining orders if they need one. Also, a hidden secret of this location is the cafeteria on the top floor, which offers pretty cool views of the surrounding downtown area, including a unique perspective on the Walt Disney Concert Hall, which is diagonally across the street. Unfortunately a lot of people have negative associations with the courts (jury duty, tickets, criminal cases) and have rated this location poorly, but I know from experience that they could do far, far worse than this.

Family law matters Should have a woman and male judge to make a family judgement. Update showed judge Lip A pic and video of my ex on drugs and he laughed at the RO I tried to get and then the family court hearing both times he laughed ! As if he knows my ex or has a degree or certificate or anything in substance abuse And rushed us before lunch Disgusting They hate women. They hate mothers. They do love abusive men , addict men You name it , men that abuse kids , men that abuse women , men that abuse men. I hope the good honest transparent men that are dads get rights. Not the abusive and junkie dads. They keep abusers with victims and keep letting abusive men abuse women and children. Physically , mentally , emotionally, financially They let men put women and children in the street. I mean look also at Britney Spears story. This court house is so disconnected from woman and birth …. Thanks god Angelina Jolie brought back Vawa act. California is a horrid state along with this courthouse They literally treat you like they have better things to do than help people in dire duress of need And now judge wasserman makes me and other women abide and obey their abuser.

The Stanley Mosk court house is complicit in violating the rights of citizens by putting them in illegal conservatorships and denying them the right to choose their own attorneys. The judges and court staff at Stanley Mosk are also complicit in human trafficking. Britney Spears is one very notable victim of Stanley Mosk she was completely stripped of her rights with a fake dementia diagnosis and forced to be put under the control of her abusive, financially inept and alcoholic father. Her father and her corrupt management who he was indebted to controlled every aspect of her life and forced her to perform and profit heavily off of her for over a decade. The attorneys that she didn’t choose also profited of her with no incentive to protect her rights or advocate for her. How does someone who is able to work belong in any kind of conservatorship?? It is absolutely corrupt and evil. No one in this court offered a shred of oversight of this blatant conservatorship abuse. Stanley Mosk court and it’s judges are truly vile. It is absolutely disgraceful that this court is integral in modern slavery and human trafficking! It should be shut down!!!

Spoke to a very rude clerk "Mr. Mac" in Dept 050. After already checking their website for information regarding a case I am working on, and after doing all my due diligence prior to calling the department. I also previously called the department a week ago and the guy didn't even look up my case before saying that the order id sent in was still being processed. I got put on with the same guy AND AGAIN asked me if I checked the website for an update. There was no change to the website sense calling LAST WEEK. He actually looked up my case and found that for some reason his dept had not received the Order that I sent in. I go on to tell him, I have a stamped copy showing that it was received at their filing department and he decides to go on and tells me it's HIS filing department's fault. Following that lovely bit of disregard for his own court house. I get the number for the filing department. just to get thrown from one dept to another and the correct departments phone service obviously wasn't working because it rang for seriously 30 minutes continuously until I gave up and resent the documents.. ill let you know how it goes.... It doesn't take a judge or practicing attorney to do an accurate conflict analysis using tools anyone can find. In small claims court you only need 51% to win. With 100% caught red-handed evidence submitted on principal office approved devices for 3 separate cases, one can safety assume there's an agenda going on here. Government employees must earn and maintain the respect of the public however, this court from the small claims filing room all the way up to the appellate writ office refuses to follow proper procedure, protocol, policy, and perform duties with competence. Integrity is a value that's absent, along with dignity, and respect towards other people. I'm sure if I were there on criminal matter they'd jump like baffoons to capitalize on an opportunity to harm and punish a young, black male. Hypocracy, bias, and many other unsound habits at the core of this establishment in the offices described. Inequities finest.

Very unpleasant experience this morning when we were trying to file at the window, filing clerk Diana Galindo was extremely rude to my mother and I, to the point where she made her cry. We were simply following judges orders of submitting document and she belittled us and made a scene. She spoke to us in an extremely condescending tone and repeatedly yelled: “I will NOT help you! You can read a book or hire an attorney if you need to file something!” Other staff members noticed her behavior and approached us to apologize and then in less than 5 minutes the other staff member was able to help us comply with the judges orders. Diana Galindo’s behavior was extremely unnecessary and condescending, especially considering she is a “public servant” of the court and is supposed to HELP not BELITTLE and BULLY. She caused my mother extreme distress this morning. I hate to think that many others have been hurt by this woman. Beware

This courthouse only serves the purpose of paying criminal lawyers criminal fees to defend criminals and has absolutely nothing to do with justice. This court and the lawyers and judges that serve it uphold and defend domestic abusers, as these criminals have more money than the women and children they are destroying! It doesn't matter if it's a felon or someone who has never completed domestic violence rehabilitation if they have money they will take their children with the help of this courthouse and the judges who care only about reelection and the lawyers who continue to destroy our country and the integrity of our judicial system. How many women must kill themselves before the courts stop protecting abusers? Before the courts stop allowing custody evaluators to lie while collecting enormous payouts at the expense of the child support never instated despite the law.

A Ya has done a far better job than I can!! If anything he went EASY on them!! I heard they were biased against mother's. No, they throw mothers under the bus after stabing them through the heart and gouging out their eyes!!! I had HUGE illegal decisions made against me. My ex (found to be a psychopath by psychiatric examination) was just too nice a guy to have done any of those things witnesses testified to. My children were taken away from me against psychiatric advice and illegally. I was made destitute by his complete lies about my retirement income and I wasn't allowed a forensic accountant unless I paid a huge fee before hand. Had I had legal representation I would have tried to get (the scum of the earth) judge removed!!! If I could give a grade of negative stars, I would!!!

  • Nicole Easley

You wait all day just to speak to someone for them to offer you NO Help. There was literally 2 people in the office which is supposed to serve the entire Los Angeles County. Not sure how that works. The lady Lourdes who is a paralegal just got an attitude with me because I was using the computer to look up my case information. She said the computers were not for litigant use but for only the office workers. Who work behind the glass with their own personal computers. Please make it make sense. They need more seasoned and professional staff working here. Many people I saw complain today. They come outside the office calling names from the day before's list. I have never seen a government program in a courthouse ran like this. It's embarrassing Los Angeles County, do better.

Be weary if you get judge emma castro to hear your case - you can request a change to a more decent judge. She shows up drunk or hungover to court - my experience there was that this woman was either high, drunk or had a massive hungover - she does not hear the case - threatens people with "don't you dare!" and she interrupts you and then when you try to reclaim your time, she yells at you with "I did not interrupt you, why are you interrupting me?". She is only 62 but she looks like she is 82 leaving you wondering why in the @#@# she is still working past 65. She was so @#@# rude to everyone in the courthouse as if she @#@# hates her job. She is such a basket case, she has no business being a judge. I have to shame the courthouse for hiring this kookoo to hear cases.

Probate division customer service is a nightmare. I filed by mail without an attorney. After several weeks, followed up with a call and was told the petition was never received, which it turns out was untrue. Today, paperwork was returned for insufficient check amount with no explanation of why additional funds were required. It turns out there is a mandatory court reporter fee 50+ lines after the probate petition fee that is not listed as mandatory. When I asked how I was supposed to know to pay that, I was then insulted for not being an attorney. I'm pretty sure that my doctorate provides me with the skill set necessary to understand a fee list if the information actually is provided in a reasonable manner.

Arguably some of the rudest individuals I've ever dealt with are in the LASD department. I doubt most people going in there have much legal experience with getting someone served so why be condescending miserable human beings when we get something incorrect? Especially when everyone that walked up had to go back and refill a paper? With regards to your signs you have 30 signs plastered over your entire window area. If I'm asking for information that takes a second to say why make me play where is Waldo looking for the information on your poorly organized boards? I cant grasp how much you hate your job to be so rude on the friday of a long weekend... Get therapy like yesterday.

  • Nicole Scott

I like this courthouse but they need to hire better workers in the clerks on the second floor ! I am a student of law. Whenever I go to the restraining order office on the second floor, the latina women discriminate against me because I’m a mixed race woman. They are rude and ghetto. I was the FIRST and only person there for her to review my papers that had NO ERRORS to tell me that it’s wrong . They were laughing and talking about personal issues. Their behavior is disgusting and this is the typical behavior from children of immigrants who come here and act this way in a job position that serves the people . I did not experience this with the guy

  • David Garvin

This courthouse if you can even call it that is so corporately corrupt they’re not even trying to hide it. No help guides are posted anywhere. And the Shiver law firmm is corporately bought off and so is the judge in the eviction court. At the answer, I remained quiet and let the judge perceive what he liked about me. I watch the judge tramp over me. 14th Amendment rights to do Process. From answer to trial, he wanted to give me nine days to prepare for trial which is reminiscent of the Jim Crow era. I’m going to have him recuse himself or I'll ask for a disqualification hearing.

  • Yahyra Arlette

Came here for jury duty. The ladies doing orientation and running it are so disrespectful. Talked to everyone like they were stupid. Even the older people who had trouble understanding, they wouldnt even try to help them theyd get so easily frustrated and yell at them like they were children. They dont speak spanish. Which shouldnt be a problem but there were a few people who dont speak english and they treated them horribly. They yelled at anyone who would frustrate them and they have no manners at all. You can tell everyone felt uncomfortable when theyd yell at people too.

  • Axel Ubeda

These judges are bias and don’t even read the information in front of their face. I’m a father with 50-50 legal custody and the judge blatantly told me that I don’t need to know where my daughter lives. Because I don’t have custody. I’ve called CPS and they haven’t even done anything about it and when I brought it up to my judges attention he blatantly told me that he doesn’t believe me. No one believed Gabriel Fernandez now look where he is now. Josh Freeman stinn was the judge. He must’ve gotten picked on in school by guys and hence why he always favors women.

  • Margarita SanLuis

There are serious issues when it comes to justice with this courthouse. I am out of the State but I am an interested party in a case happening right now. Every time I call, the majority of the clerks will always say " I can't give legal advise" when trying to speak about forms needed for a case. In my county, this was never an issue. I can get the name of the form and submit. How is that legal advise? I have witness the presiding judge disregard information related to the case and allowed perjury from the Plaintiff. Get your act together

  • Erick Polanco (Dj Foreplay)

Never allow external influences dictate your internal attitude. Remember these courts systems are already bias, they never have the best interest of men, they will rail road you in a heart beat. These court houses make a lot of money with family law issues, they love it. The more they can make it hard for men the better it is for them. Their sole interest is these judges here are scumbags, its unfortunate but if you could take your case elsewhere please do.

  • Ingrid Minasian

You think that you would have more people answering the phones during this covid-19 crisis, but it is the complete opposite. I can't begin to describe the mounting frustration. I have been trying to get basic filing information for an appeal on a labor commission matter and have been trying since Friday, today is Tuesday. Everyone I speak to tells me to make sure I say Labor commission matter. Still trying. This matter needs to be filed in a timely manner and no help. Good luck people!

  • Sylva Wings

It took many days to find the number to the correct court that I needed. Then, due to their schedule, it took several days for me to call at the right time to actually speak to someone. When I finally got through I reached a very nice young lady by the name of Jaynesha who went above and beyond to help me. If it wasn’t for her I would still be looking for the answers I needed to get help. I am giving five stars only because of her. She deserves a raise!!!!

  • J Fresquez

The people helping you fill out the papers for the court house are awesome. They work hard and as fast as they can to help everyone. However . The courtroom is a whole different setting. If you don't like the judge too bad. If you are a min late it doesn't go in your favor. And if your two mins late chances are your turn has been called and you loose . In other words take this court very serious.. good luck .And I mean that with all my heart .

  • Alyssa Nicole

THANK GOD FOR BAILEY in family law. This dude immediately got everything sorted, was so kind to me and patient and he took the initiative to redo all my paperwork properly. No one else there seemed to give a single fucck and they let me file wrong earlier in the week and I had to come in a second time to redo everything. You need more people like bailey, give this guy a raise he’s so professional and he actually explains stuff

  • Tonalli Martinez

As a person who calls the court frequently I need to recognize Brittany for her amazing customer service. It is not often you get a person on the other end that will do much more than transfer you off to a voicemail, and never receive a call back. But Brittany got up and found someone who could help and get my issues sent to the appropriate person. UPDATE: I even got a call back! Thank you Brittany and team!

  • Sha Williams

Extremely Rude workers ‍♀️I feel some need to Retire or find a job that maybe suits you. My experience only, Bad Customer Service. Research what it is that you need and make sure you know, Exactly what you need to filed, or pick up etc. you have to become an Attorney or I suggest hire one. But everyone can’t afford an Attorney so you’re on your own resulting in back and forth to this court building.

  • Natalie Aspehult

Awful service of family clerk. They are extremely unhelpful and almost seem to enjoy being rude towards you. I’m not a lawyer, I try my best to get all info in order. But if I acted how they have towards me in my line of profession… I’d be fired in a heartbeat. They should take a customers service class. We all gotta work but there’s no need for such negativity and lack of service, why are they even paid?

  • Galya Alfreihi

Majority employees in the filing offices are very rude and disrespectful. This is my least favorite court house. Had to come get a document from my file, turned out it wasn't completed properly. Had to go to 5 different rooms, get disrespected by 6 different people, waisted 4 hours. To be fair I did find one good lady Brienne in 426 room, she was very informative and helpful. Beyond grateful to her.

  • Al Andrade

Very unorganized! They send you from one room to another, one floor to another. Parking lot way too expensive. The Judge I seen won't let you show your evidence or talk much. I wonder if it was because of the color of my skin or the was I was dress. Casual. Went in at 8:30 AM at 10:00AM they call a fire drill. Everyone has to go out of the court for an hour. It was a whole daymare. Bad experience.

  • Simon North

The County of Los Angeles has the most brainless employees working in that building. Comprehension is lacking. If you ask a question regarding their services, they will ask another question in return. What? Can I have fries with that attitude? Sure... here is a side of utter-incompetents. The word would be so much better if they hired people with functioning a brain that knows how to do their job.

  • Pamela Smith

I was here at 8am to be first in line when they opened at 8:30 to get a certified copy of one page. I paid the $40.50 fee for each copy. At 8:35 i was given a number and told to wait in the hall and that it would be about 10-15 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes, I went back in to check and they were still “working” on it. It is one page. Its now going on an hout

  • Marcia Puryear

Tried calling and kept getting the same guy.Our question was about our case,..although, .I think he was the parking attendant answering phones.LOLHe never answered our question in additionto that, we couldn't understand anything he was saying.and there were three of us trying to understand.perhaps we called when he was eating his peanut butter sandwich, LOL

  • Danielle Carr

I went to court for a restraining order against my neighbor who has threatened me with bodily harm and I learned that even though you raise your right hand you can still lie to Commissioner Laura D. Cohen and she will believe you!!! I'm still dealing with my neighbor harassing me. I have 14 days hopefully I can have peace until I move!!!!

  • Christopher Farley

This woman is clueless. I was her victim back in 2015 and I had all the evidence that my ex was the abuser. My ex had only what she said and her lawyer wielded that like a weapon and Kaufman let it happen, visiting me nearly a hundred thousand dollars. #justiceforjohnnydepp shows us what idiots judges have been for decades.

  • RabbitGotDaGun

The judges here are racist and biased towards people that have lawyers. They disregard DCFS cases, evidence, and do not care if they ruin families. They will continue a case for years instead of resolving it as soon as possible. If you can file your case at another location try. I hope they all get the karma they deserve.

  • F. Klink

First, be prepared to go through metal detectors. Dont bring anything that could get you in trouble. The security is tight, which is good for us all. The sheriff’s are greatly appreciated. They are professional and direct. The lines are really not that long. I was in and out in 45 minutes. Would definitely recommend.

  • Anti Masonic

I went down to the human resource department to inquire about job opportunities. I was told to apply for my desired position. Well, it has been months and I have not received a call or e-mail in regards to what the status is on my application. The place is poorly mismanaged. What a disgrace!

  • Google User

No one ever answers the phone. It rings and then disconnects. If someone does answer, they state they have to transfer you to a different department, and then no one answers and it disconnects. Glad our tax dollars are being wasted on their salaries for them to never answer the phone.

  • HighMaintence Lady

Am stuck in a child custody battle with my neighbor that kept harassing me throughout my pregnancy. apparently since he is friend of there's they force me to coparent with him. This place is awful looking for attorney to help me sue them please message me with phone number.

  • SEDA GORMUS

I have been trying for more than an hour and can't reach anyone to talk to at the Family Law Clerks Office! All I want is to schedule an appointment and I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get one. Please improve the clerk office appointment phone call wait times!!

  • refrigerator noise

Elva the lady who answers the phones to help with small claims is incredibly rude talked to me like a piece of garbage interrupts you with “ma’am,” hey learn respect. Someone else should take your job you dont deserve to work here with that

  • Millie Chang

fulfilled my civic duty today as a prospective juror. the jury orientation ladies on the 2nd floor were great and made the process a little more bearable. s/o to them. overall, everything is pretty efficient at this courthouse -- security,

  • Bethany Romo

I unfortunately got a very rude judge who laughed at me in front of the whole courtroom. I'm 19 and should've been in school reviewing for my finals instead of getting laughed at. Judge Ray Santana was horrible and disrespectful. I know

  • Barbara Silvestre

I was in and out in time for lunch. If you are running late use the $25.00 parking across the street - totally worth it. I breezed through security and barely had to wait for my case. The halls and courtrooms are well maintained.

  • Jeff Lindstrom

Friendly, helpful staff. Faster service than one usually expects from a government bureau. The above-ground parking directly across the street isn't the most expensive around, but you could find cheaper if you're willing to walk.

  • CHoCOlatez CHoCOlatez

Used to respect Emma Castro, but she's dishonorable and completely ignores evidence. Not sure what she uses to rule and reward, but it's definitely not the law. A judge should never encourage and reward fraud and perjury.

  • jessica rodriguez

I would never expect a restraining order judge favor violence, If you parking in the street is free and you neighbor come to hit again and again your vehicle has the right to do so and right insult and defame you .

  • Gabriel Rosati

I have been in the place today for the second time in my life.. Both times everything was well organized quick and easy! Perhaps the outside parkings too expansive. I did everything in 15 minutes guys!!!

  • Justice Fairness

My sunglasses fell off my purse while going through the metal detector causing one of the lenses to pop out and land in a pocket. 15 minutes after asking about it with the security, they were 'clueless'.

  • G P

Judge Ian Fusselman is a judge who engages in very dishonest conduct and his relationships with certain lawyers and/or friends of influence greatly sway his decisions in blatant biased conduct. Shameful.

  • Theresa Miller

Very Professional Service every time I go there. The cases start on time. The Judges are excellent and they are caring and take time to explain the Law when the speak to you

  • GRAHAM HARRITY

The diamond lanes now have become obsolete as it mainly consists of single drivers taking over, or used as passing lanes, these days on the 405 towards the 101 freeway

  • John-Scott Horton

I thought the DMV was bad...Only 1 in 5 people in this building deserve any kind of payment for what they do. You should be paid to go waste your time here. Brutal.

  • Heather J Cook

Efficient, clean, well staffed city courthouse. Wheelchair accessible throughout. Public parking across the street. Right across from Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
