The Hague is a very inviting and cosmopolitan destination. My last day visit was from A'dam was to The Hague. For a one-day outing, I suggest you visit the nearby Food Hallen for high quality Asian street food, and then wonder off to Sticting Design Museum Dedel after a light meal at the food court. The museum's primary mission is to specialise in showcasing and enlightening the general public of graphic design history in the modern era. Advertising in the form of posters, pamphlets, and various other medium to promote goods and services will be showcased here in the periodically changing exhibitions. While mainstream museums such as New York's Museum of Modern Art, Boston's Museum of Fine Art, or Berlin's Applied Arts Museum will have exhibitions with a section on graphic design, but the subject matter often gets lost in the shuffle by displaying it together with so many other forms of art. It is refreshing to see a formation of specialty graphic design museums such as Stichting Design Museum Dedel fill the void by creating a Mecca for displaying and documenting the very important media of graphic art and advertising. The personnel involved in the museum have the resources available to make this museum a very interesting one to visit for many decades to come. The bookshop in the museum is very noteworthy as it offers interesting publications not likely to be found elsewhere. Enjoy your visit.

Dit is een relatief nieuw museum in een bijzonder monumentaal 17e eeuws pand, dat nodig een flinke restauratie nodig heeft. Het pand zit vol prachtige ruimtes en boordevol bijzondere verhalen. Je valt letterlijk van de ene verbazing in de andere verbazing. In zalen hangen oude posters met diverse thema's. Grafisch gezien erg interessant, maar het pand zelf is minstens zo interessant. Ik geef het museum nog geen 5 sterren, daarvoor moet namelijk nog veel gebeuren. Zo moet het pand flink gerestaureerd worden en is er betere verlichting nodig om de posters goed te kunnen zien. Ondanks de goede intenties is het nog vrij rommelig en chaotisch.

An amazing museum with very welcoming employees. The building used to be a house of Dedel family. And though it is not renovated well due to the lack of funds, the place still has a unique soul from the 19 century. During my visit, there was a temporary Ukrainian posters exhibition. It consisted of both modern ones (related to the ongoing war) and an older exemplars which were accidentally found in the hands of a local collector. A guided tour around the rooms of the museum will tell you more! I definitely recommend to visit this hidden gem of Den Haag!

Een fantastisch bezoek aan het Design Museum Dedel! Het overtrof onze verwachtingen. Een enthousiaste rondleiding gehad, waarbij we veel te weten kwamen over de geschiedenis van het pand en de collecties. De gestucte ornamenten in de hal maken je sprakeloos. Achter geheime deuren en luiken zijn verrassingen tevoorschijn gekomen. Daarnaast hoorden we over de toekomstplannen van het museum: de zorgvuldige restauraties zijn nog in volle gang. Dit is een parel van Den Haag. Gaat dat zien!

Wat een verrassing! Ik kwam voor de tentoonstelling met posters van Oekraïnse kunstenaars. Maar het oude statige gebouw is op zich al een bezoek waard. Juist omdat het niet tot in de puntjes gerestaureerd is. De posters van Oekraïnse kunstenaars zijn heel aangrijpend. Een van de posters toont powervrouw Lady Gaga in een imponerende houding, met attributen uit de oorlog. Er is een heel goede reden waarom juist die in den Haag hangt!

Petit bijou, encore peu connu. Vous en apprendrez autant la surprenante collection de poster (+- post 1920) que sur l’histoire de ce bâtiment qui semble avoir encore beaucoup de secrets à révéler. Une exposition temporaire sur la guerre en Ukraine, fruit d’un généreux travail de curation, vous plongera dans le passé et le présent de cette nation riche de son art et de sa culture. Vous aurez aussi peut être la chance d’avoir une visite guidée comme nous l’avons eu! Merci!

The owner was super kind and gave us a very detailed tour about the historical wonder. Even it’s getting restored it’s very interesting to see. There are a lot of posters which make it even more varied. Definitely worth to visit if you want to make a “time travel”.I Would like to give 6 stars for the such enthusiastic and friendly guide:).

The interior was under renovation but even in such a state it was absolutely amazing to look at the intricate original details of the building itself. I went to the KLM Exhibition and it was very well developed in terms of content, and I loved the fact that visitors were left to navigate the museum by themselves at their own pace. I'm looking forward to future exhibitions, and also to see what comes out of the renovations!

I had such a great time visiting the Design Museum Dedel! This building dates back to 1642, and is currently being restored. To be able to see this process is fascinating, plus there are various small exhibitions to check out. If you’re in The Hague, this is definitely worth a visit!

My visit has been a real treat. A beautiful collection of posters in different exhibitions in the backdrop of a beautiful monument with significant historic relevance. The private tour by one of the members of staff was a real bonus. I definitely recommend!

Het is een prachtig oud herenhuis met veel geschiedenis, wat men volop aan het restaureren is. De medewerker was uiterst behulpzaam en gaf een halve rondleiding. Het design bestaat verrassend...uit affiches. Maar dan wel een zeer uitgebreide verzameling.

Ik ben helemaal geen museummens maar vind dit absoluut een bezoekje waard. De restauratie van het pand is nog in volle gang en dat heeft een zekere charme. Het huis heeft een bijzondere geschiedenis en de tentoonstelling is natuurlijk ook heel leuk. De vrijwilligers vertellen van alles en je mag overal kijken!

Really amazing museum. One of my favorites that I have been to! One of the employees gave me a tour of the premises, explaining all about the history of the posters and the building. I HIGHLY recommend checking it out and supporting it! The exhibitions rotate every few months, so always more to see.

Prachtige affiches die een boeiend verhaal vertellen. Het gebouw alleen is al de moeite waard om dit museum te bezoeken. Er zijn nog veel originele details te zien en het is een zeer indrukwekkend gebouw.

Das Museum ist in einem sehr schönen, im Original Zustand belassenem historischem Gebäude. Das Gebäude alleine ist schon einen Besuch wert. Die wechselnden Posterausstellungen sind modern und sehr sehenswert. Ich kann den Besuch sehr empfehlen!

Fantastisch! Prachtig pand en mooie collectie. Kleinschalig met heel persoonlijk ontvangst en uitgebreide uitleg over het huis. Nu een belangrijke en bijzondere tentoonstelling aan Oekraïense posters. Echt een dikke tip!

Definitely worth visiting when you are in the city. The house is so beautiful with THE MOST beautiful staircase in the Netherlands.

Museum in opbouw. Er wordt gerestaureerd maar inmiddels wordt er ook moedig geëxposeerd. Daarnaast is het bijzondere Huis een bezoek zeker waard. Dit is een parel in wording!

Geweldig museum. Mooie affiches in een pand dat in restauratie is. Gaaf die 2 geschiedenissen (affiches en gebouw) die door elkaar heen lopen. Fijne rustige en bevlogen gids.
