Wonderful spot in Indy! My partner and I were staying in Indianapolis for only a night before needing to take a shuttle from the airport to Bloomington (some context, we are looking at IU for grad school and our flight into Indianapolis was pretty late in the day). We were welcomed warmly with a little history about the building, and felt really good about finally having some rest after a day of travel. We stayed in the Carpenter's room; really quiet and kept wonderfully, just like the rest of the place. We slept like rocks! The next morning we came downstairs and had some breakfast; they have a great spread of food options ranging from cereal to fresh fruit to waffles you can make! We were still pretty out of it from traveling, otherwise we would have eaten much more of what they offered. We had planned to spend the day seeing more of Indianapolis, to kill time before leaving the inn at 6 pm to make it to our shuttle. The inn is very very close to many places to eat and shop, as well as public transportation, so we were keen to use the inn's closeness to things to our advantage in the little amount of time we had in Indy. We had assumed we could check out at the normal time they required and then possibly leave our bags tucked away in the innkeeper's office until then, but when we asked that morning we were told we needed to pay for another night if we intended to leave our bags there for that long. If we were leaving earlier in the day, say maybe 2 or 3 pm then they could hold our bags, but 6 pm was too late after the check out time. I was a little surprised, just because in the past most places (BnB's or hotels) I've stayed at are willing to hold bags that long, but luckily no one was booked for our room that night and I had enough extra funds to cover another night's worth. Then again, we probably should have called ahead to ask beforehand, so I own that on my end; now I understand the policy a little better for the next time we visit. Overall, it's a beautiful place, the staff are lovely and clearly care about the inn's historical value and upkeep, and it's a perfect, peaceful inn to rest from a bustling day or two.

So lets start by stating the staff was great. Friendly, accommodating and super sympathetic to my situation. My husband and I booked the NW loft. Just heads up that they do not disclose room sizes on their site and the angle of the photos were a bit misleading. We were shocked when we get to the room to discover the room was TINY as well as the loft had some rickety older stairs to climb up & you cannot stand in the bed area due to the low ceiling. You cannot tell that from the photos. I am highly claustrophobic so the second we arrived it was a NO go for me. We let the gentleman know that it wont work and he immediately scrambled to offer us another room ( Carriage Room) -MUCH appreciated, last minute for 2 of our 4 day stay, after that we'd have to go back to the original room or find another place to stay . Size wise, room was much larger and breathable. However, the room appeared to be very poorly maintained and most of the furnishings ( bed, futon etc) appeared to be selected for the room merely for aesthetic rather than comfort as they were SO uncomfortable. The room appeared to be poorly cleaned and not maintained which was unfortunate as i think this would be such a nice room with a little extra TLC. Breakfast is not hot quite yet due to COVID19- they delivered cute little baskets but both mornings we got our basket plates were delivered with Jelly/Jam on them but none of the items in the basket had Jelly or Jam so that was slightly off putting. We've stayed at BNBs before, we've stayed in historical properties before but this felt different. Again, staff was great and able to accommodate on the fly - just the room(s) themselves fell short for me.

Enjoyed my stay at the Stone Soup Inn! Unique location with access to many great restaurants, shops and places to visit while in Indy. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I stayed in the carriage house for 4 nights and it had plenty of room and WiFi and tvs all worked fine. The kitchenette was the perfect size and I was also able to do a load of laundry before I went back home. Now this is an older property so the room isn’t state of the art but it does feel like your staying at a friends place rather than a hotel. I prefer that. If you want fancy go pay double somewhere else. Want homie then this is the place for you. I did not try the breakfast because I do not usually eat breakfast but it is a small place with a small staff so don’t expect a Embassy Suites Buffett style breakfast. The staff was pleasant enough so I’m sure if it’s busy they will accommodate you as soon as possible. The parking is limited in the small lot but there is plenty of street parking as it’s located in the middle of a neighborhood. Overall a great stay and great place for a quiet stay away from the norm.

I stayed a night at the Stone Soup Inn with a group of gals for a girls night. We arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday and even though we were one of many group arriving at the same time, David the Innkeeper, welcomed us with a warm smile and took the time to talk to us and show us around the place. I was fascinated by how old the house was, and how the owner took great care in making sure that everything in the Inn felt warm and cozy, and it all matched the outside of the house. It was beautifully decorated. David answered all of our questions, and made sure we were comfortable, and knew that he was around if we needed anything. He definitely made our stay a good one. I can’t wait to come back with my husband and stay for more than a day.

Walkability
We didn’t do much, but there was a Kroger and liquor store both in walking distance. And if you like old architecture and beautiful scenery, just taking a walk around the neighboring blocks and peeking at the homes and foliage was a great way to spend an hour or two.

Traveler Beware! We booked a room here through Expedia as we have several times with Expedia this year. This time we get confirmation from both Expedia and the Inn. The Inn was listed as pay direct so we would pay upon arrival. The Inn claimed they tried to confirm our credit card prior to our stay and couldn’t reach is (although we found all this out through the Expedia notification process). Essentially, without giving sufficient time or effort to correct this issue the Inn cancelled our reservation less than 24 from booking it and didn’t even notify Expedia about the cancellation. We responded within 36 hours and the Inn had no appropriate response and no room available. This left is with only 1 day to book another room elsewhere . We have been ardent travelers and never had this sort of issue with other properties or even Expedia as the booking agent. We will never refer nor stay with this property or its sister properties until we have better rationale and satisfaction from them. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

We were not sure whether to stay because a few of the reviews were mixed. But now that we’ve checked out, I can’t figure out how anyone had anything bad to say about the stone soup inn. The location was perfect, minutes from downtown. Close to the highway. We chose a loft for the private shower. The room was clean, and comfortable. The staff was so kind, even helped my husband lug our bags up both sets of stairs. There is also a self serve breakfast set up in the mornings 7-9:00, and 8-10 on saturdays. Another perk, is free off street parking. We would recommend this place again and again. I will preface this and say, if we had children with us, there wouldn’t have been enough room. But for 2 adults, this is the most perfect accommodations.

Our family booked three rooms for an overnight stay on a Saturday night in September and fell in love with the Inn. The staff at the Stone Soup Inn makes this a 5 star stay! David showed us through the Inn, how to access what we needed and even brought my sister-in-law a cup of coffee! The ladies who checked us in and out were great, we all felt welcome and right at home during our stay. The rooms, and the public areas are beautiful, we were lucky to have great weather and time to enjoy relaxing on the front porch. The breakfast table set up was elegant and the food was delicious. Wonderful experience, hope we can return for another stay soon.

My wife and went to a play at Clowes Memorial Hall and thought this B and B looked nice. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The staff were extremely nice. Unfortunately, we encountered an altercation in the area and had to call the cops on our way to the theater. The area is a bit rough for a B and B...After returning from our evening out we didn't have anywhere to park. The following morning at 8:15 (breakfast started at 8) a group had consumed all of the breakfast and all of the coffee. So no breakfast at a Bed and Breakfast... My recommendation, get a hotel in that area for roughly the same price. The room was okay. This location in Indy is less than desirable.

We had the pleasure of staying at this place when we visited Indianapolis for my baby brother's wedding and we can say the whole stay was a pleasure. We were greeted and given a tour by a very nice young lady and showed us to our loft. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious enough for 2. The location was great and close to everything yet out of the way and quiet. They keep the main door locked at night so we felt very safe. Breakfast was a continental style, but all the food was quality and the service was terrific. We will dilefinitely be returning next time we are in Indianapolis.

My go-to home-away-from-home for near monthly trips to the Circle City! The property itself is close to downtown, well maintained, clean, and smoothly run. Breakfast selection to get you going and delicious coffee to wake you up! Be sure to set your alarm, as the rooms are so comfortable and quiet you'll likely oversleep those early appointments! Walkability score is high with many amenities and attractions right around the corner, and the Old Northside neighborhood itself an enjoyable stroll.

The Shone Soup Inn has been one of the best little hotels I’ve stayed in. The welcoming and friendly staff plus the clean and antique vibe makes you feel right at home. This place was perfect for my mom and I. It was pretty centric in a gorgeous area of Indianapolis. The breakfast was one of my favorite things, not only was it delicious, but it was in front of your door by 8:15 am every morning in the cutest basket. I was so sad to go in just 2 days but I will definitely be coming back. Thank you to the staff again for making my experience unforgettable!!

My wife and I stayed two nights for our anniversary. All staff was friendly and eager to help. The room was cozy, offering complementary soaps, coffee, etc. All linens and the entirety of the room was clean. Keep in mind that this is a small bed and breakfast, not a chain hotel, so the whole establishment had a well-worn and homey feel. Breakfast was great, and the room was definitely large enough for two people. Excellent service and customer care.

Absolutely loved our stay. Dwayne was super on the spot and there for anything we needed. Which wasn't much. My husband and I enjoyed a late night chess game with a bottle of wine in the downstairs lounge area. I love the vintage charm and antique decor making for unique individuality in every room. We are already talking about coming back for a longer stay.

This is a great B&B - something I was worried about doing since I'm usually a big chain hotel guy. Nikki and David were great hosts. The room was very clean. My girlfriend and I loved it and would definitely stay here again. Quiet but yet a short walk to The Garage and Pins Mechanical (highly recommend both for a night out). We'll be back!

We stayed here for a night. The Stone Soup Inn has a beautiful calming atmosphere. The inn keeper was kind and gave great advice for dinner options. We stayed in the Lilly Room. I loved it. Truly a great place to stay. I will return again some time. I would recommend to anyone that is over the hotel niche and just looking for something different and relaxing. 5stars

This old home is a delight to see. I worked as a cleaner in this place. Which gave me a chance to see the entire home and being a person who loves antiques. I was in heaven. Of course everyone will not have my delight for old homes but if you do? Then you will enjoy this Bed & Breakfast Inn.
