Brandan “BMIKE” Odums is a visionary a talent a voice a force. His installment, Studio BE in the Bywater district of New Orleans brings his vision, his activism, and his voice to the masses. His talent and the art displayed is massive and impressive but, what really moved me is his focus on young artists with his program Eternal Seeds. He is using his power and talent to change lives for our future. Please, get outside the Quarter and see "who" New Orleans really is. I told a friend that I was going to see his exhibit and she said "I don't think I'd feel right going to that". She was implying that as a white person, she would be intruding on the space of black New Orleans. Do not believe this. It's important for everyone to see the truth that is BKIKE's work. We can't stop the stupidity unless we all educate ourselves.

  • Amari Bryant

I would rate this experience at 4.5 star. The building was real hot but the experience is total worth it. I've never really looked at art deeply but with this art there was deeper meanings than showed. As you looked closer you seen more and more of the image Bradan was trying to create. He even allows for other artist to come in and allow them to show their creative side and allows them to get a chance to show their artwork. The tour guide was amazing with explaining his viewpoint and some other meanings of the artwork that maybe you wouldn't have seen yourself. Overall, it was a great experience and if you have the chance I believe everybody should see it.

What an amazingly powerful place. Very big, with thought-provoking installations. Please note that if it rains, there will be water on the ground in some places but what’s most interesting about this is how it contributes to the installations in room. Also loved the Eternal Crowns wall with artwork by children and teens that is also for purchase. $10 for entry cash or card. We got there around 2:30-:45 on Saturday and there was no wait and not a big crowd, so you’re able to really digest the art without much interference Before you go, walk across the track and visit the spot of the arrest of Homer Plessy which eventually led to the Plessy vs. Ferguson case and the “separate but equal” doctrine that made segregation federally legal in America.

"Art is in the eye of the beholder" but I was genuinely moved by the larger than life displays. I was fortunate enough to visit while there was a live panel discussion that included first hand accounts of events that took place in New Orleans that may not be found in any textbook or library, it was truly an experience that I'm having a hard time describing in a way that does it justice. I visited on a weekday and there was no fee for admission but I made a donation using the QR code posted next to the door as you exited the exhibit. Your visit to New Orleans won't be complete if Studio Be isn't on your sightseeing itinerary.

Very informative and impressive!! The young man is very compassionate about his community. Urban City Tour is a must if you want to hear the True History of New Orleans from past to present. I don't remember our guide name but what a gem!!! To actually have a guide that is a resident that was born,,raised and share all his ancestors history and continues to carry the tradition with truth and pride every day!!! We were admitted free into the museum since we did the tour and it was worth every penny!!! Thank you Urban City Tour for this tour. Highly recommend

Studio Be is one of the most AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL art studios I’ve ever been to!! The artwork…OMG… BMike is definitely a force in the art world!! So much so that I’ve had one of his pieces added to my body art!!!! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Brandan in person, and he is an incredibly kind and humble human being. His work in our community has been impactful and inspiring. If you are in NOLA, this is a MUST do!!

Beautiful and moving exhibit. Powerful works that cut right to the core of your soul. It is impossible to go here and not feel strong emotions. Wear light clothes. It is in a warehouse that is not air conditioned. Not too bad but the heat might be a concern for some. Bring water and use the hand fans they give you. Do not leave town until you see this. It's that good.

This was my first time visiting a warehouse exhibit. I didn't know what to expect. I am pleased to say this place has set the bar high! Each exhibit was thought provoking. I love the detail. I kept looking for more. I spent hours inside and it felt like minutes. There was even an area that asked you to leave words for someone else. The Katrina portion brought tears to my eyes. Can't wait to see what else this artist has in store. I definitely recommend you visit this space.

  • Eryn Williams

This was, by FAR, one of the best art museums I've been to. It was very moving. Though small, StudioBe contained strong pieces of art: art about love, life, power, pain, and more. Pieces like "How Can Black People Paint Flowers at a Time Like This" are ones that won't be soon forgotten. StudioBe makes you think. It was a beautiful experience.

Beautiful work! Been a fan from a distance, so when I had a trip planned for New Orleans, this stop was NECESSARY. **Be aware that the studio is in a warehouse, so it's not climate controlled. It was a 100° day outside, so we definitely moved through a little faster and left a bit sooner than we would have on a more moderate weather day.

An immersive experience and the Radical Freedom Dream installation touched a somber hopeful note that is timely and engaging. My kids loved it, it brought out alot of conversation about the future and freedom. An important NOLA site. And in a true testament to the nestled history of New Orleans, just across the track from Studio B is a history plaque that details the site of where Homer Plessy was arrested in the test case that would become Plessy v. Ferguson.

  • Missy Missy

This place is one of New Orleans BEST kept secrets! I challenge you to leave the beaten path of bourbon street and Canal Street and visit this place! If you are an art lover, you will be Mesmerize by this artwork and the story behind it! It admission price is VERY reasonable. If you visit at the right time, you may catch the artist there as well. He is a very humble man & will not hesitate to stop to catch with you or take a picture!

  • Honey B

I love this place! I was here a month ago and I've been a few times before. Some exhibits change while some are staples there but no matter what if you walk out this place and you don't feel inspired or touched in some way I don't know whatbto tell you. I've had the pleasure of meeting Mike which is the owner to my knowledge and you can tell how passionate he is in what he does and his exhibits reflects just that. Awesome experience!

  • its something

It's in a warehouse type building, so it's really open and really sets the mood, but it's incredibly hot. The artwork is really provoking and speaks the truth about justice and race. It's definitely a good place to go for educators or young activists. My only issue is that I wish it had more pieces

One of my favorite places I visited in New Orleans. Great place to visit! The art is real and brings a lot of emotions as you tour the space. You gain a deep love for the people of New Orleans. It’s great to see young black artists making a impactful experience to the people. If you are looking for a beautiful experience this is the place you must add to your list when visiting!

  • Steve Replogle

Studio Be is astounding. Should it be called an art gallery, and immersive experience, a multimedia installation? Whatever you call it, Studio Be is great in size and great in depth. It's great also in artistic ambition... and in artistic achievement. It tells a story that will change you. Everyone should go. We spent an afternoon there and will never forget it.

  • Greg Boyd

Studio Be was wonderful!! The art there was a tremendous view into the world of the artist and his growth in the city of New Orleans and beyond. His accomplishments and influence has been nothing short of amazing. This visit was very rewarding, and I recommend everyone to visit if you are in New Orleans. This was one of many stops on the cultural city tour.

  • Rebekah Garrett Ripley

We had lunch in the By Water and decided to walk over to Studio Be as we had heard good things about it. We were lucky to have stopped by at the perfect time because we got to browse all of the wonderful artwork without it be overly crowded. The best part of all, Brandon came in while we were there and said hello and took a pic with us! Highly recommend!

  • Maritza McDaniel

If you've never been to Studio Be, you need to go its a MUST whenever you visit New Orleans the messages behind each photo is AMAZING... Studio Be you gave me goosebumps walking through and I thank you for this experience GREAT JOB keep it up.... Make sure yall support this young man that's trying show yall a difference through the artwork...

  • Vincent Urbain

Very moving experience. Was able to hold back some tears and understood the frustration of the ones this is for. I could have spent 2-3 hours there. This is meant for all folks of different backgrounds, but those of us who have felt some of these things first hand will find ourselves at times unable to move and replay our own experiences.

Powerful art. The facility is large, so plenty of room to walk around and appreciate the size of the murals (they're massive!) The pieces touch on a lot of issues affecting the black community today, as well as tributes to prominent civil rights leaders both nationally and locally. Would recommend a visit for anyone visiting New Orleans.

  • Russ Mitchell

I had heard of BMike through some Youtube videos on street art and wanted to check out his place. I had no idea that my visit would last over two hours, or that I would be so moved. Studio Be is an absolute gem, and should definitely be on your itinerary. BMike and his staff are doing good things... go give them some love.

  • Marie H.

Just please go! This place was phenomenal and causes stimulating conversations. The art pieces are moving and stirred up some feelings for me - sadness, anger, and so much more. I have become a fan for sure! It was cool driving around New Orleans and Baton Rogue seeing Bmike's work! Stop at the store and shop too!

  • Cyndi O

Good art is pretty; GREAT art makes a lasting impression. This is GREAT ART! I'm so glad my Uber driver told me about this place. My kids and I loved it, and it gave us a lot to talk about.

Please make this a stop on your trip through New Orleans. Five years ago I stood outside this warehouse taking in all of the murals on its exterior not knowing the beauty that lied within. I love seeing the pieces put together by BMike and even got to see an artist bringing a new piece to life.

  • Edwin Jaquez

Dope experience for someone who knows little about NOLA. I walked away with an awareness of the Cities real inhabitants and the blight that surrounds them. Black art is best presented by black artists, and this is an experience for everyone to learn a little, laugh, and cry. Well done!

  • Kerrington Alexander

Studio Be is a must see attraction in the New Orleans area. There are a lot of important cultural references and artworks in the building that take a lot of big issues into understandable small sections. Over it is a location that everyone who come to the area should see.

  • Butterfly Love

Even though it was warm in there all the art was amazing and beautiful… I really felt the connect with a lot of the are and where the artist were coming from when they made the art

This is a must-visit exhibition in New Orleans. One of the best I've seen anywhere. It's clear that the artist has a strong and complex understanding of the Black American experience and the imagery is stunning. Definitely visit and support his exhibition.

  • Itz Me

This was a very cool establishment. Each of the pieces my group was shown were explained and we were free to ask any questions and take pictures. The artist is clearly a talented and deep-thinking individual based on the creativity that was displayed.

The art was absolutely beautiful and meaningful. The only downside was that it was so hot in there but it was worth it to see the art. And they did provide little hand fans and a free BLM bracelet so all in all I had a great experience there.
