Saturday October 14/23, First time ever to the Sushi BBQ INN, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever been through. On the recommendation of my sister, who enjoyed the place in the past, I agreed to go with her and two of my nephews for dinnner in celebrating my 50th birthday. We arrived at around 3:30 pm and had the choice of either the lunch or dinner all U can eat, we sadly chose wrong . It started off ok as we ordered from the all U can eat dinner menu, we got our first order done in moments upon arrival. After making our second selection we placed it at the end of the table as required, 25 minutes in waiting with the owner/manager taking takeout orders and a server passing us by severely times we finally got one of theirs attention, third, forth and fifth orders same thing. Our first orders I have to say were great, but after that sadly no, the sushi not including the rolls were falling apart, all the chicken or beef cuts were way over cooked the other orders of sushi were bland. Was never asked for refills on water once, When we got the people’s attention my youngest nephew was able to get the cokes he asked for but never got his glasses taken away. Our table became cluttered with many glassware, bottles, saki ware and plates as non were ever taken away at any time. When we finally were able to to order our desserts my sister and nephews got there green tea ice cream in decent time, while I waited for my tempura fried ice cream, thinking it was never going to come we were preparing to leave 20 minutes after it was ordered it finally arrived with the little donuts one of my nephews ordered. The moment I cracked open the fried ice cream it was completely melted, it instantly had the texture of soggy cereal in warm milk or a tempura batter milk soup. My sister asked to speak with the manager, while she was trying to explain our experience to the lady, the lady kept cutting her off with fake apologies, you could tell she was trying to get away to deal with the takeout orders and not really caring about our ordeal etc. When we decided to leave as my sister was at the register paying she broke down almost in tears explaining our experience to the young gentleman taking care of our bill. Both my sister and I worked in the industry for years. I did for nearly 15 years, so I understand when a place is short handed etc but to have people just keep passing us by ignoring our table is absolutely deplorable, including the newly arrived evening staff. But worst of all is especially the manager/owner only caring about the takeout orders seeing our next order paper at the end of the table. I can’t say anything about the week days but I recommend not going on the weekends or ever sitting in the first booth on the left of the entrance. Other booths and table weren’t ever ignored. Even with my sister having a good experiences in the past there she will never go back, and as my first time there definitely will never go back. In closing the only reason we stayed as late as we did, we all felt that almost $40 persons two orders wasn’t worth the price. I am appalled that my sister spent nearly $200 with only my my dessert being taken off the bill. I hope through this review, this restaurant learns something? With all your positive reviews I truly envy those patrons. Photo of my Tempura batter milk soup Date of visit: October 2023

The service here the couple times I've been here has been very good. The food was mostly good, some things were great some things tried were not my favorite. Some things were plated so nicely and some... not so much, I didn't take pictures of everything we tried, over the couple visits have tried almost the whole menu and liked about half the items. You can't often go wrong with all-you-can eat with the vast options and we have enjoyed our experiences here. The pear cocktail I tried today was very refreshing and light to balance the large meal. Some of the plating could be improved as well as ensuring sashimi quality is perfect as it can be very easily noticeable of any flaws when visually and taste wise which can give the ick. The servers were attentive and ensured our table stayed clear of finished dishes quickly and we always had refills before our drinks were empty, they were friendly. Young kids did get bored here quickly, maybe bring along your own coloring book or something if you want to enjoy your meal, it would be good for them to get something like this but it's okay many don't. The music was sometimes very inappropriate for a family setting as well with a couple songs but some were great. We overall like coming here once in a while, it's nice when you want a lot of variety and to stuff yourself lol.

UPDATE : Oh my! Closure for multiple violations. Amending my review. Used to be my favorite ayce place for sushi. So disappointing. 1) There is a significant mice infestation. Over 20 dead and live mice were observed in tin cat traps throughout the facility. 2) An abundance of mouse droppings were observed throughout the food establishment, including but not limited to: under the front line coolers, in the bar area to the left of the drink cooler, on a wooden overhang attached to the wall in the bar area, inside of the cupboard located underneath the handwashing sink in the service area, in the cupboard inside the dining room, on the oil container inside the dry storage room, behind the chest freezer in the kitchen, underneath the grill washing sink and the ice machine, and on floors throughout. High-risk foods such as tempura tofu, imitation crab, calamari and spring rolls in the food preparation cooler measured 7.3 degrees Celsius. These open containers of food were stacked on top of inserts of food in the food preparation cooler. ********************************************

If you're looking for an amazing all-you-can-eat sushi experience in Calgary, look no further than Sushi BBQ Inn! I've visited this restaurant multiple times now, and each time has been an absolute delight. Make sure to book 24hrs in advance, it gets really busy during dining time. What really sets Sushi BBQ Inn apart is the amazing Niguri. If you've never had Niguri before, it's a type of sushi where the chef slices the fish thinly and serves it on top of a ball of rice. It's a unique and delicious experience, and Sushi BBQ Inn does it better than anyone else in Calgary. The service at Sushi BBQ Inn is also top-notch. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they always make sure that you're well taken care of throughout your meal. Overall, I can't recommend Sushi BBQ Inn enough. If you're a sushi lover in Calgary, this is the place to go for an incredible all-you-can-eat experience that you won't soon forget.

Okay, so this place has its highs and definitely its lows.. we came in when it wasn't that busy. service was very minimal, not sure if it was because of how many servers there was or because of management.. no instructions even if it is straight forward. Barely asked for drinks or if we needed anything else. Just a piece of paper to order. The grill in the middle is for the bbq section, which was old and cut and beat up, the chairs and table was minimally clean as well. The sushi quality is ok, but to the better eye all fish peices were cut oddly and different to one another and not a fresh colour either. The marination of meats for the grill were good for spicy. Spring rolls tasted a little odd. Some foods were bland, but for all you can eat sushi its not the worst. If service and cleanliness was way higher this place would be way more succesful

It is so bad i wanna give you a zero, but that's not possible so I give you a one. Took them forever to serve what we ordered even though the place was not overly busy. food came one by one in 20 minute intervals and most of them were already cold by the time it got to us. service was disgustingly slow and the servers need training on how to be accommodating with their guests. After waiting for more than THIRTY WHOLE MINUTES we asked them to follow up our order (which was just the raw meat to grill on the table, nothing too fancy), we were told (unapologetically) that it wasn't coming and just fill the order paper again. overall, it is a total waste of our money and time for a mediocre AYCE. DO NOT GO HERE.

Great food and ambiance, perfect spot for a date night. Wait times can be extremely long so I highly recommend calling in advance, although sometimes they’re busy and don’t answer the phone so you might have to try and reach them days in advance. Staff is extremely friendly and attentive, never have to worry about flagging someone down to order as they keep a good eye on their customers. The menu is massive and delicious. For an all you can eat restaurant, their food always came out delicious and high quality and we were never served a subpar dish. A bit pricey but for the quality of food that is being served, totally worth it. Will definitely eat here again

Brought my hubby for his birthday. He's never been before. He doesn't normally like new foods but loves to have new experiences. The food was delicious, he was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed it. The atmosphere is fun and always smells delicious with all the food cooking at the tables. Wonderful date night!

Parking lot is pretty tight. If you have a small vehicle you should be ok, but I would bring a truck or a large SUV is at all possible.

Food is not so very great some of it taste bland, the takoyaki is very hollow, unagi roll was not even torch to cook, the crab roll is literally a crab sticks, bake oysters was average, korean bbq is good but tje stove heat is so low seems no gas but server said thats ok, the squid bbq is so salty. Not to mention parking is very tricky and hard to find a spot. we have a big group and they only gave us one small plate of wasabi and ginger plus one bottle of soysauce. The water glass they served got cracks and no server checking not unless you called them i cant even remember how many times we called them. Anyways one thing for sure i wont be a regular on this restaurant.

This place is unique in that it's an AYCE Korean BBQ and Sushi restaurant. The food is pretty good with a nice wide selection. It is a little cramp and not the most stroller and wheelchair friendly place. I would recommend this place for dates or for small groups. Highly recommend to call and reserve seats as you may have to wait a long time.

Went here unexpectedly but ended up being so worth it. Despite having a really bad customer service, we love the food so there’s no complaints. I forgot what the roll was called but it’s the first photo, ordered it twice because it was so goooood Imagine a roll so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. All we ordered were so good, I could say it’s the best sushi and roll place I’ve ever been in. ❤️ it’s crazy but it’s true. I hope that some people would really try this resto, definitely one of the best in the city. Can’t wait to be back with some friends so they could try it too. I highly recommend this.

I used to try not to come to this restaurant on weekends dinner. Since for some reason took them 45 mins to deliver desert orders. Yet, I was there yesterday, and their service impressed me. Great and fast service! What an improvement on staffing! Gotta give some credit to the management. Keep it up!

You might need to park your vehicle at the alley behind. Since this strip mall landlord forgot about this restaurant tenant. Lol

The food was good. A couple of minor things that could have been better, but overall, enjoyable. The service was good. Again, there are a few minor complaints, but nothing terrible. Little things like we didn't get offered refills. My biggest complaints fit under atmosphere. First, there is no baby change table in the women's bathroom. Second, the music was too loud and was not really appropriate. I distinctly heard multiple f words, which I don't think is appropriate for a restaurant.

I’ve been coming here for years now and it’s a decent all you can eat Japanese restaurant. Overall the food was pretty good and the all you can eat is great value especially if you can eat a lot of food. They could make their drink selection better as it was pretty limited. The same could be said with their dessert menu which was only limited to ice cream, jello or milk tapioca. The BBQ grill in the middle of your table is great. It kept my kids entertained and it introduced an exciting way of dining in a restaurant to them. I would suggest this place for anyone looking for some decent all you can eat offering.

  • Jay Swackhamer

It’s AYCE sushi and bbq. Service is typical of any sushi buffet I’ve been to (busy). Expect some wait. Expect some missing orders. For what you get for the price, I have few complaints for a party of 7 on a busy Sunday night. Overall the food is fine! Good selection of sushi and bbq items. The sashimi is fresh enough. The rolls are okay. The steak bites were delicious. The tempura ice cream is something I haven’t seen before.

We came here back in October 2022. We came for the all you can eat lunch. Most of the food was fresh and delicious. However, we were quite disappointed with the chicken wings. Not sure how long ago it was fried because when it got to our table, it was cold and hard. Would love to try here for dinner one day because they have a few more additional food items to choose from. Overall, i would recommend coming here if you feel like both sushi and Korean bbq. A pretty decent place.

great quality for price at this restaurant. popular for a reason. get delivery from here often. Update summer 2023. Used to be one of my favorite spots.. but the AHS closure is pretty nasty. reflects poor management at best, poorly trained insufficient staffing also a likely issue. Definitely putting profit over health/safety/cleanliness. Sucks. I ate here often.. and it makes me sick to think about it. Update Dec 2023 - gave them another try. Just delivery and has been good. Have not seen the inside of restaurant since the closure however...

Moving from Vancouver, we were worried that we wouldn't be able to get as good quality of sushi in Calgary. But after eating at Sushi BBQ Inn, we are so glad that they have great quality sushi and other a la carte! We went for the all you can eat and their variety of food is awesome! Great selection of food, great service, and good ambience. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a great all you can eat sushi spot in Calgary!

The food was just ok. The rolls tasted like they were not fresh. The meat we bbq'd ourselves was of very poor quality. When my wife went to the bathroom it was obvious people were trying to discard/dispose of their unwanted food there. The service was slow. We never did get everything we asked for. In short, not good. We won't be back, nor would we recommend this place. To the business, do better.

Unfortunately, our experience here was not great. Fish was not fresh, rolls had the scraps and trimmings from the fish fillets, table was dirty when we arrived (we had to ask someone to wipe it before the food came) and the atmosphere was dated and dingy. The one saving grace is that the Korean BBQ ribs were very tasty. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this place.

We came here for a birthday celebration and had an enjoyable experience with their all you can eat. The fish is pretty fresh, particularly the salmon sashimi. The rice is a bit heavier for rolls and can make you quite full if not careful with how many you order. Their tempura can be a bit doughy on the inside. The food comes out at a good pace so you won't be left hungry for long!

Been to a lot of all you can eat sushi and this one is disappointing. Not a lot of customers but the service was so slow. Took 20 mins to get our dessert. Got myself a jello and this is all I got, lol. Food wise, the gyoza I got was quite hard. The sushi was not so good. Don’t recommend this place. So unfortunate.

Been going to this restaurant for years, but the quality has dropped significantly… the fish is chewy and smelly, glasses are dirty, there was short hairs in our food not one but a few! they removed so many rolls and food and have no good explanation as to why. Staff are lovely and accommodating but management is been awful recently More

Have to say I agree with some of the other recent reviews. Place is clearly understaffed and they wouldn't even clear dirty dishes off of our table. Ordering system is tedious and inefficient. Food was okay at best, but based upon the other issues I won't be back here. More

For an AYCE, their food is quite delicious. Definitely worth the price. Sometimes it’s super busy that the staff can’t accommodate everyone, however service is fast and they do try their best! Love the sashimi and the hulk. Definitely will be coming back

Absolutely everything about this restaurant is fantastic! The meat you can cook at your table, the fresh sushi and the service. We had 4 kids with us and they liked the food too. Special shout out to the servers; they were all nicer than the other.

They had set up a dedicated outdoor seating area that was well distanced, the service was friendly and the prices more than reasonable. The sushi rolls, sashimi, squid legs, and udon noodles we had were all delicious and came with lots of food!

So we went to eat and when it’s time to pay, the lady have me payed 122 dollars for 3 people. This is eat all you can, and if you calculate that it comes to 40$ per person. On their website it cost about 31 for lunch and 36 for dinner which

  • Dan Smith

The meat was very good, the sashimi was very good. The rolls all tasted exactly the same (except the mango one). They were actually quite disappointing. The tools are much better at Fusion or Sushi and kitchen. If you’re in for the grill

  • Jun Malacaman

Grills - DIRTY AND GREASY! Was not throughly cleaned, as you can see in the photo. Also, i think it would just be our table that had the worst fire, it shut off 4 TIMES, and they refuse to turn the fire up as compared to the other tables

  • Chow C.

Terrible and inefficient service. You can clearly tell the place is understaffed and management is non-existent. Workers are running around all the time and you really have to wave down someone multiple times to get water or soy-sauce.
