This was a lovely park - many years ago when the council still gave a toss about public spaces. Now, it's one square mile of empty cans and bottles, discarded fast food containers from those too lazy to find a bin. That being said, there are far too few bins so they're always full and the crows love scattering the contents around, scavenging for scraps. Then there are the ignorant fools who insist on feeding the wildfowl despite the notices stating how this is not there diet. People seem to want to scatter their leftovers around the pond... Leaving the bags as well! At least the rats are thriving on the slops.
Great park. Lots of bird life around the lake, and in the wilder area around the back of the park. We spotted a jay and a tree creeper, a little diving duck, moorhens and coots and a whole lot of crows (like, 50+, mobbing a drone some poor guy was trying to fly. If you like corvids, this is the park for you). Great for dogs also, lots of green space to run & play however it does have a road running up one side with no fence, so care needed. Playground for children, but if there are toilets I haven't managed to find them?
Haven't been to swashurst park for a while and wasnt impressed...there was loads of rubbish on the grass which some lazy tramps couldn't be bothered to put in the bin. Someone even left two paper pop/milkshake cups in the middle of the car park. ...I hate to think what their houses look like. Also, I noticed the grass had been cut around the outside, leaving the middle still long...unbelievable!!! So over all, not a pleasant experience and wont be going there again....it used to be a lovely park.....but not anymore!
There were some naughty teenage boys with no t-shirts on riding a motorbike very fast across the park while little children were having picnics with their parents. The boys must have felt very big and strong and clever. I bet all the parents were looking at them thinking "Ooh, those boys are big and strong and clever!" The naughty teenage boys with no t-shirts earned my respect and admiration that day. I hope they return soon!
No matter what the review is, this is a beautiful park and lake to enjoy in the sun! Plenty space for kites, dogs and ramblers into it's deep backwood, I've been here on a date.
Playground
Small developed child's play area in good view
Dog-friendliness
Plenty dog walkers chatting in the distance, wasn't disturbed by one
Picnic area
Benches n shade located around the lake, large open grass for sitting too
Grew up in the area, love this place. Such a shame when I think back to how the park was and look at the state of it now. Please take your rubbish home with you, the bin don't get emptied regularly enough for the amount of people that visit. I don't want to moan about "when I was a lad" but if you want a nice area to visit by your home you must do so responsibly, keep your rubbish with you please.
Nice Park, has a bit of everything. There are swings, slides etc. for little kids. Large pond, with wildlife, some people do fish there. There is a large open area for people to walk dogs, jog & walk. Only small issue is that some irresponsible people who let their dogs litter, without picking up! There is usually an ice-cream van selling ice-cream during summer months
A lovely park, sometimes spoilt by the traveller community leaving it like a tip and also some users of the park don't understand the meaning of natural beauty spot and decided to throw their rubbish on the floor and the dog walkers who think their dog's poo is for someone to take home on their heels and not them taking responsibility. Generally lovely green soace
Its a beautiful park. A variety outdoor activites to do with my daughters. Play area is great. My daughter has been coming and using the play area from a young age. The walk and greenery is breathtaking eapecially thia time of year. Park is always clean. Feeding the ducks is soo peacful. Freindly people and attmosphere. Car parking on site. X
A lovely partly wooded park--a carpark and large grassed area and the old boating lake now mainly used for fishing -- people walking dogs and there are dotted around bins for dog excrement-- there's a protected children's playground and in summer there's always the ice cream van parked there --yes well worth a visit any season
Always live this place especially in summer when i normally take a picnic down by the lake..just took girls up there 2day 5th of march 22 as weather was not to bad ...had a lovely couple of hours walking around the lake feeding the ducks and just swinging and climbing ..cant wait till its summer gonna bring out a picnic
It was a lovely afternoon! PLEASE don't go and feed the birds (there's signs and notices warning of this too). Saying don't for valid reasons, sad to see that in our 1hr spent here, we saw so many people bringing bread and buckets of cooked biriyani as feed. This is so damaging...please refrain from doing so.
Lovely little park. Swings, slides and a lake to walk around or jog around. It's a lovely place to visit regardless of the weather. Just a shame that so many people bring their dogs and can't control them. Apart from that, it's a good place for walking, playing, football and cricket... picnics too!
Awesome park with lots of greenery and trees surrounding - excellent for picnics. A lovely lake with swans and other birds and a splendid path going the full circumference of the lake. The parking is superb and ample. Awesome for entertaining kids with swings, slides, monkey bars and roundabouts.

the park is okay for morning and evening walk for local residents. ample parking space for about 20 cars. There are rides for kids and a lake. in the winter the lake is frozen if the weather is below freezing. there is plenty of walking space or to have a good sun bathing when the sun is out.
Beautiful park and public green space, with a large pool home to lots of geese, ducks and other waterfowl. Great for an afternoon walk, jog or just sit and relax. There's also a small play area for the kids, and open meadows, great for letting your dogs stretch their legs.
Used to be a wonderful park but now has been badly neglected by the council. The goal posts have been removed and also the grass remains uncut in many areas leaving those areas out of use. A nice little lake for feeding the ducks and small play area. Good for dog walkers.
The actually land is lovely and if you pick your time correctly you will have a lovely walk and bit of outdoors time, but it's unfortunately a breeding ground for some of the scummiest groups of chavs this city has to offer, I'd go as early as you can.
This is a park that we used to attended as children. I was there today with my friend and her little boy, and he seemed to enjoy himself on the swings etc; really, not much has changed over the many years. Still a nice park, with a big field area
Good park to entertain kids as the play area has a good selection of outdoor play equipment for preschoolers and older kids has a beautiful duck and geese pond. With huge playing fields perfect for a round of rounders, cricket or other games.
Glorious place to be,especially in the summer, extremely tidy, also a good place for peace and quiet some of the time, especially when walking the dog or taking a jog and taking your children their, beautiful atmosphere al round most of time.
Amaizing. Its a very beautiful lake surrounded by greenery and a jogging tracks. Good for weekend camping and just a leisure walk or a jog in the park. Must visit. Good for a change on a weekend away from the usual busy city life.
Lovely tidy and clean park with ducks and more hens swimming and nesting. So nice to sit and relax by the water. Very good for benches to sit on. A good park for exercising your dog and yourself due to the large green open space.
My local park. Excellent park for relaxing. You can just sit and what the birds or walk around the lake as I do. Great exercise in lovely surroundings. A shame that there are those who use the park and leave their rubbish behind.
Beautiful lake and best placeto do my dailywalk..need more safety measures though for little toddlers playing around the lake. Parents with lille kids and people with pets need to be more alert around this beautiful lake .
Excellent park to enjoy a walk or picnic with your family. There is a nice playground for the children to play in. Parking is onsite for free. Park is well looked after. Definitely worth going and having a look around.
A nice lil place for a stroll either with your partner, kids or pets
Playground
There's a little playground that the kids tend to enjoy
Dog-friendliness
Easily walk your dog here, it has nice views
It used to be a great park but recently after the travellers vacated the park they left it in a real mess with tyre marks and no end of rubbish. The swings and play area are worn out, could do with a revamp.
Another great Birmingham urban park, loads of green for the children to run, lake with good path around, playground and parking. Some boy racers on the roads around so don't let the children (or dogs) stray.
I've known this place for sixty-five years. Still makes me feel good. Lots of experiences here, good and bad. Love it still, though I live a hundred miles away. Maybe my review isn't the most objective!
Nice Park good for kids. Beautiful greenery and very clean!. Lake is nice and clean not like others that are littered and stinky. Only downside is that there's not a big enough play area. …
Blue /green algae in the pool. So many dead fish, and the most dreadful smell. Don't visit around the pool if this is likely to distress you or your young children. Don't let dogs in the water!
Park on the 11A and 11C bus route with a lake. Go occasionally over the years. Is a hidden nature reserve. Billesley Community Fire Station to the rear of the park. With Street art sometimes.
It's a beautiful park but there are so many Canadian geese that the footpaths are covered in slippy goose poo. Also the geese will chase you and even peck you if you stand still for too long.
Nice park with a mini lake and plenty of water birds. Sloping fields with pretty views towards the airport. Easy to get to by busses 11, 3 and 2. Free car park with day and night access.
Great little park. The lake is a nice spot but be sure to explore the area around it too, there are some lovely winding paths around some more wild and natural settings. A lovely escape.
Nice and graceful with the ater and the trees just rally nice to sit there and contemplate upon life and its ups and downs. Parks are amazing and this place is clean and no silly people.
Pleasant (pushchair-friendly)walk around the lake. Good play area for the children. Large open space. Small car park adjacent to the play area, but on-road parking possible if full.
This Park incorporates car parking, a lake, open areas and unspoiled expansive 'wild' tree'd areas too, not to mention a playground. Situated close to Moseley Bog and Sarehole Mill.
This park is lovely and could be great if only this awful city council (or ideally smaller neighbourhood councils) would bother investing in parks as a key community social resource
Good walk across multiple mowed grass paths, woodland and tarmac paths. Pity about rubbish that had been dropped in many places. Lakeside walk busiest area in today's sunshine.
Nice morning visit to Swanshurst Park. Unfortunately unable to feed the ducks here which was a of a bummer for the kids. However the open space to play with their ball helped
Nice little park on the outskirts of Birmingham. It has a small play area and a pond. A nice destination for a couple of hours on a hot day, especially if you have children.
Nice, clean and plenty of seating. Parking is very limited. A very nice walk around the lake, birds and fish on the lake. Well worth a visit on a nice day, with a picnic.
Used to be a much better park. Should be 4 stars really. It has gone down hill a bit for some strange reason. Edit: 19.01 2023, still the same park, love the lake.
Lovely park with a big pond for all swans and ducks to swim in; surrounded by walkways and benches for visitors. Little playground for kids with few swings etc.
Love the park. I've you take children or older adults. Keep an eye on then so they don't fall in the lake. Because all the life rings are in the water already.
Nice park with water, open space and forest to explore. Worth taking wellies and exploring off the beaten track, there is a lovely selection of trees to see.
Beautiful large park. Great for a walk...only thing is in summer there are too many people and the bins get over filled and rubbish around the park.
Great place to rest but not cleaned. The lake seems dirty and the surrounding is plenty of dogs and birds' feces. Not really set for youngsters
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL PARK EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY NEED OR WANT. SHAME ABOUT THE SCUMBAGS WHO LITTER THE CARPARK AT NIGHTS WITH MCDONALDS
Great place for morning or evening walk with animals or family. There is a small park for the kids as well however, parking place is limited.
Great Park, lovely on a sunny day. Loads of open space with a rather large duck pond in the middle. Very nice place to go for a little walk
I love it here. Walk around the lake. I came here as a child too when there were boats and people sitting on the banks every summer Sunday.
Nice clean quite park. Plenty of parking and ample area for picnic or to play around. Enjoy a nice walk along the lake. Kids area as well.
Could be a lovely place but gets no money spent on it , nice lake left to spoil and never has the fallen trees ,leafs, dead fish taken out,
Nice clean park. Good playground for little ones couldn't see any restrooms or picnic area but there were benches to sit on to eat food
It's nice but I don't appreciate dogs being left off Thier leashes. I understand the owners sentiment but fear of dogs is a real thing
Beautiful park and river love the ducks and gorgeous scenery. Nice swing n play area too. Perfect for a family day out with the kids.
good walk, play area for kids. Lot of birds in the water reservoir. There is a long distance between play area and water reservoir.
My little one absolutely loves this place, especially the lake. He loves to run around on the grass and the children's play area.
Perfect Park for relax and clear your mind!!! It's have a green spaces with waves for running and the Best "One beatifull Lake"
It's a lovely picnic spot, where the kids have ample space to run around and play. Whenever I go here I feel relaxed. Love it.
Great little park for the family although the children's play area could do with a revamp as it gets very busy in the summer.
A duck attacked me for no reason .. typical police did not respond .. not a nice park. Dangerous ducks be carefull people ..
They not awake support foods bread ma like them sick... some suffer goose nobody report to RSPCA and not safety on the road
Lovely little local walk round the lake. I think the council has cleaned the lake surroundings over winter. Much improved.
Lovely park, with a large lake. Lots of birds paddling on the water. A flock of geese flew in to land on the lake. …
It's good size park but very small play area for kids and not much activities
Playground
A small kids play ground
It's a good park but I remember when it had public toilets and you could hire boats in the summer to use on the lake.
Went on a sunny day and it was stunning... Very peaceful. Great for a picnic on the grass or by the water
It's a beautiful park where you can either sit and relax or take the little ones to play on the swings
Nice Park, relatively clean. The lake is a nice touch as I am partial to water. A small playground too
Plenty of room for kids to play ball. You can walk the dog. Playground and a small wood to explore
A perfect place to chill or enjoy the natural beauty of the place. Open all the times of the day
Nice enough place for a relaxing stroll. Nothing exciting, just a big pond with ducks and geese
Great park for families. Duck pond near, parking and ice cream on site.
Just been there. Lovely park with nice tarmac walkways and a big lake
Better than you think.great for short walks and c playing in park
Nice park if you enjoy trying to dodge muppets on dirt bikes
Flying ants everywhere. No place for a picnic
Nice place to enjoy the peace and serenity.
Nice Park good access to play area.
Really really cool place to visit
Nice park, decent parking area
