Really disappointing! Have been shopping here for over 15 years. On a recent visit I purchased 3 Steak and Potatoe pies $8.99/per. These were the frozen pies you have to cook yourself. I cooked them that night and much to my disappointment there was NO steak in these pies. Several large chunks of potatoe but no steak. I called immediately and spoke to Colin who informed me I would need to come in the next day with my reciept and speak to Sylvana. The next day I went back and took the 1/2 a meat pie still in then tin pie plate as an example of what I was complaining about. I was surprised and frustrated when as opposed to an appology I was told "we never get complaints about this pie" Sylvana then proceeded to go into the back of the store and then returned and asked me to follow her to the cash. Sylvana then proceeded to credit me for 1 meat pie, I stated that i was expecting reimbursement on all 3 pies which then prompted a man to come out of the back(the boss) who Sylvana then told I wanted credit on the pies I ate!...HUH! I scraped them off our plates into our green bin and then we ordered pizza. I explained this to both the boss and Sylvana. The boss informed me I would only get credit for what I had returned. I asked him if he wanted me to bring in my garbage to which he walked away, Sylvana smuggly stated "yep bring them in and we will give you credit". Seriously??? Sylvana and the Boss were both rude, unappologetic and most importantly made me feel like I was trying to pull one over on them. I will never go back to this store...I honestly thought that initially it may have been a one off on the lack of meat..but nope. These folks do not care one iota about customer service and after reading a lot of these reviews I can see that there is a common thread here...Sylvana and the boss..rude, rude, rude.

I have a problem with resisting the urge to “tinker” when I buy prepared food. This lasagna comes from a local gem here on the mountain in Hamilton, Ontario called Sweet Paradise. I grew up in this area and went to high school right up the road, so Sweet Paradise was always on the lunch list for a meat lovers panzerotti! As I got older, and my palette refined, I started to really appreciate what this little local giant had to offer. They have a hot foods counter where they make some seriously good eats you can grab for an after work lazy night. I know it’s good food, but I always need to take it up a notch, because I’m a neurotic control freak when it comes to food. There, I said it! ;) A place like Sweet Paradise is a very convenient spot for a guy like me. You can get everything you need to punch up a dish right on site! The extra sauce is also one of their in-house creations. It’s their locally renowned spicy sugo all'arrabbiata sauce, and if you’re in the neighbourhood, don’t skip a visit there just for a jar of the sauce alone. It’s totally worth it! The bakery and deli aren’t lacking either. Some of the finest desserts in the city come out of Sweet Paradise, so they definitely live up to their name. I absolutely love this place, and as a food guy, consider myself incredibly lucky to have them so close! Check them out at 630 Stone Church Road West (just east of Upper Paradise) in Hamilton, Ontario!

Dear Sweet Paradise owners, I have been a loyal customer for over a year and have always enjoyed your products. However, I am writing to express my disappointment with the unprofessional service I have consistently received from your staff. While I always enter your establishment with a positive attitude, I have not received the same energy in return. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of customer service in the success of a business, especially during these times. I suggest that you take the time to train your staff in the importance of being polite and providing excellent customer service. While I recognize that many of your staff may be young and inexperienced, customer service is crucial to the success of any business, and I believe this is an area that needs improvement in your establishment. Despite my love for your products, I am unfortunately forced to stop shopping at Sweet Paradise due to the consistent unprofessional service I have received. I hope that you are able to address this issue before it becomes a significant problem for the business. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Somer

If you’re a connoisseur of French pastry, this place will make you bolt and leave permanent scars in your brain! Their idea of a chocolatine or chocolate croissant is pillsbury dough dipped in chocolate. Covering something in chocolate doesn’t make the problem go away. They have absolutely no clue as to the intricacies of the preparation and baking that go into the making of a real croissant. The bread they make is too airy, clearly maximizing profit over quality. Their so-called focaccia and pizza is nothing but soggy dough drenched in artery-clogging oil and sparse ingredients. Other than this sad excuse for a bakery, the rest of the store is nice with a decent selection of cheese, olives, meats and sundry goods. If they lose the bakery which really is operated by Neanderthals, this place would get top marks. If they’re set on keeping this sad excuse of a bakery, then invest in hiring a really bakery Chef who can oversee the baking and put an end to these monstrosities they pass off as “baked goods”.

Clean friendly and delicious. I always get fresh buns and cold cuts we splurge on sweets every now and again...I stay away from premade foods for the very reason of being refrigerated so not sure how long they do sit there I just bought a real parmigiana and 2 riceballs both rice balls looked and smelt very good. After heating them up I found it fell apart which is fine but they should keep their form..also very bland...rice undercooked and iam disappointed it didn't taste like a traditional arancini. We make these at home and rarely see them for sale so I was excited. Everything else hands down is delicious but those riceballs need a little tweaking when i make mine ide love to share with you how they look. It's not easy and it is time consuming I understand. I do love your cannoli the sicilian ones are my fave!

Love this bakery, I’ve been going here for years. Unfortunately I had a bad experience today with a “manager”named Sylvana or Savanna.. i’m not sure. I called to place an order at the deli, asked for 4 sandwiches, this lady says “uh ok, i don’t know when they’ll be ready.” I wasn’t really sure how to respond to that. I order deli sandwiches from here all the time with no issues, you would think a deli would make you an assorted meat sandwich, and yes they usually do when Sylvana isn’t there. She was so rude, she made it completely obvious in the tone of her voice that she couldn’t be more annoyed. telling me to order from the sandwich board because it makes her job easier? she made it seem like I was asking her to carry the cross. Not sure if she’s really the manager but wow her work ethic is questionable

  • Danielle O’Neill

First time visiting this bakery/deli. I will say the store it self is set up lovely, and displayed well. The customer service was extremely terrible and unwelcoming. The bakery lady had asked us after helping another person if we’ve been helped we answered with no, she then rolls her eyes and says with the most attitude well can I help you, then when we go to pay we don’t even get a hi but a confused look as to what we brought in the box from the bakery. We tell her, and try to pay with cash and she doesn’t even look at us for like 2 minutes as we’re holding our cash to pay. Snatches it and we leave. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll return due to the people working. I understand it’s a busy day, but it really doesn’t excuse the attitude.

You might feel the simple feeling of excitement like I do when it comes to the treats found within Sweet Paradise. I think it starts when you pull into the parking lot. Ample spots to park here but if it’s Apple Fritter time (early morning after opening) there might be a few spots already taken. You will find all kinds of fresh baked goods, a deli, treats and more. The team here is very interactive. It feels like old school meets new school as far as the vibe. I highly recommend you stop in here and consider picking up some treats for your next event or just for a simple moment of blissful apple fritter pleasure. Thumbs up this review if you’ve had the treats here already or you plan on diving in! Enjoy! Thank you Sweet Paradise.

  • Dianne Riviera

Their bakery operates on the premise that if they bake cheap bread, they’re dessert experts. I just purchased their apple Cinnamon buns. You’d think they couldn’t mess that one up - they did. An apple cinnamon muffin from Tim Hortons is better. It’s just all fluff bread with a cheap sprinkling of cinnamon and chunks of inedible apples. At $ 7.99 it was a waste of money. They should seriously hire a REAL pastry chef, not some pizza maker. They make enough money fleecing us on everything else in that store. I think they went this path with these buns because pecans are too expensive for their bottom line. We all know what sticky buns are all about. The only thing sticky about their buns is the price. Totally gross!

  • Gulrez Singh

This place has the best Turkey. Like OH my God!! Get the thin slices of the honey glazed turkey ham. Get about 15 slices. They wrap it up properly and make your own gourmet sandwiches at home. Just use pizza squishy sauce as the spread, and you're set. They even have amazing Soups. Various kinds and frozen so they have long shelf life. The broccoli soup is amazing, and I'm a certified non-vegetarian, and that soup was fresh and awesome. Make sure to add some water to it because they make it thick. The chicken and parm are amazing. The prices are very competitive. Everything above I said can be done in like $30 tops. But you can splurge to your hearts content, and you won't be disappointed. 5 star for this place.

  • TOMMASO BARILLA

Been here several times , most of their food is good but advertising as Italians store it’s a lie. The food is from small town people , for example they are selling pork roast as porchetta . Well I’m from ROMA and that is just plain pork roast, I tried it! Very disappointed! Porchetta sell it in ROMA(ARICCIA IS THE TOWN) for €20 (CAD$30)and up for kg , you advertise your for $5.99 x lbs see that’s already wrong ! STOP MISLEADING CUSTOMERS , ITALIAN AKA BORN IN ITALY but here YOU GUYS are just Canadian with Italian descents, aka no clue about REAL ITALIAN FOOD and if you r not born or lived in Italy well it’s just a bad imitation or what I call” AN ITALIAN I WANA BE”! but you are NOT! Easy

  • Jeanette Ford

Lots of Italian styled goods and goodies. Not just baked goods, they sell pasta and sauces, olives and olive oils, deli meats and cheeses, fresh and frozen prepared meals and salads as well. Hubby found his Nona's cookies and was very happy indeed! We also picked up a cherry pie, and it was better than a big box store's but not better than my Grandma's. Many locals talk as if this place is the best bakery in the world - and maybe my expectations were super high due to all the praise - so I will say it's very good, but not the best I've ever had. If you had an Italian Grandmother and are missing her cooking/baking, do check it out. Maybe you'll find that flavour you're missing here.

  • Elle Marchant

Unfortunately, like with most places, quality and quantity have declined post-covid. Portion sizes have been reduced, and prices have still increased. It costs $4.50 for a tiny 3x2 inch square of tiramisu with very little cream and limited flavour. It's $4 for each cannoli, no deal on multiples. $4 for a 3x1 inch sliver of cheesecake that they order in. THE LOBSTER TAILS ARE ALWAYS BURNT!! 9 out the past 10 times I've been there, they're burnt. Almost completely black on the bottoms and edges. And they still sell them. That's the embarrassing part. No quality control at all. The value simply isn't there. Hopefully they can improve quality standards to where they once were.

  • Kim Benincasa

Cakes are hit and miss. I've got the Strawberry Romanoff a few times and it's been delish. But the red velvet, the food torte, and the raspberry chocolate truffle were dry, sweet, and underwhelming. They've spelt the name wrong a few times, so I highly encourage you to double check before leaving the store if you decide to order here or order in person so you can see if you were understood. I like their pastries, I haven't tried any savory items. Parking is hectic and the store is small and crowded. I've included a few photos. Cakes pictured are their small sizes. Great place if you understand growing up with lots of Mortadella, Salami, pasta and bread! This place does it right and has all the good stuff any Italian is looking for. Try there sandwiches at lunch. Pick your bun, bring it to the counter and ask for your favourite. The Italian they make is good but I prefer pure Genoa Slam, mortadella, capocollo on a bun and not the sub bun. It’s clean, staff is always on the ball and they always have fresh stock. I suggest you visit. You can usually see the owner out and about making sure everything is presentable and flowing. Don’t know his name, spoke to him a few times and he’s great guy.

  • judi kochanka

All things Italian! Best fresh slab of lasagne...best Italian sub( generous portion of meat is carved right before your eyes, laid on a fresh sub bun with all the fixings and toppings for 10$ Best treats and sweets and such a large selection of fresh and frozen meals to take home. Salads are delicious too...especially the Greek pasta salad. So happy they opened another one in waterdown. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Just love the little bags of biscotti for that first cup of java in the morning. A gem of a place !

  • Chantal Tiffany

Are you someone who Absolutely loves Cannolis and also is a die hard lover of donuts!? . Well, do I have a surprise for you! . @sweetparadisebakery has a Cannoli Donut and it is deadly amazing! . I recently ordered 2 dozen for a special celebration and let me tell you-they were a HUGE hit. I believe they are $3.75 each, but they are totally worth it! The freshness, the filling with the cannoli shell-Man oh Man oh Man! . So pre-order your donuts today! They are worth the drive to Hamilton!

  • Mel Fougere

A great place to buy all your Italian sweets, pastries and deli meats. Excellent meat and frozen meals as well. We each enjoyed a fresh sandwhich made on premise. All food we bought was wonderful!

Sad to say after a customer of 24 years today was by far my most disappointing visit ever. I placed a cake order promised to me for 6am pick up Thursday.. went in Tuesday paid for cake and other items.. cashier confirmed yes cake pick up 6am thursday.. back Wednesday afternoon to confirm with hopes of adding a message.. un nervingly the worst customer service and no attempt to accommodate my 1/4 slab vanilla bean cake order.. I’ll be hard pressed to come back unfortunately

  • Nat Andy

We saw good reviews so we tried it for the first time and ordered my wife's birthday cake from there. I'm not sure if it's only an issue with Red Velvet but the cake was the worst We're often not picky but even the kids didn't eat it. There was too much cream and thin layers of actual cake that didn't taste like Red Velvet. We called next day to inquire what could have gone wrong with the order but no useful response was given. Never buying from there again!

  • Mari Cari

Ordered a strawberry romanoff cake for my partners birthday. I was very excited to drive to Hamilton from Guelph to get this specific cake made. Unfortunately when my partners family and I tried the cake it was tasting quite dry and was not too flavourful. I was disappointed. It’s was a hit or miss but I’m sure the bakery has more to offer. The cake had pretty representation. Customer service needs improvement. The bakery staff were not pleasant to speak with.

  • Syeda Adiba Nuzhat

Countless options for sweets are available in the store. Not only sweet, savory, cheese, cakes, and many other items are available. If you are craving sweets you can just go there and grab any item as they are delicious. The store is quite big with loads of products. The staffs are okayish. The lady serving us was quite annoyed that we were confused about what to order. The store is nice and clean. Usually crowded so you need to wait for a bit for payment.

  • Wan Park

First time visiting here and what a assortment goodies!!!! They have a great selection of deli and pastry! If you walk in there hungry, expect to spend some money there. Ready meal is there and you can take it home to just heat it up for your meal. Some European beverage is available and I think I’m going to go back to try some more dessert plus more. I honestly don’t think price is friendly but what a fund store to visit and to try something different!

  • Dee Dees

My first visit to Sweet Paradise on Stonechurch Rd. was such a pleasure. The young lady at the pastry counter was very polite, helpful, and cheerful. I bought a total of 11 desserts and let me say they were all amazing. I didn't buy anything else but after seeing their hot foods, deli, ect. I will definitely be going back to try more. The staff were friendly and the store was exceptionally clean. My new favourite bakery.

  • Michael Lasssl

Been going here for years. There has always been a good selection of cold cuts and Italian products. Recently I had an unpleasant experience with the bakery manager Savana. I purchased a birthday cake for my wife and it was dried out. The manager Savana refused to assist us and told us cake was fine. I was offered no resolution to the bad cake. I will no longer return due to this poor customer experience.

  • Ana Moaz

Came here to grab some dessert and pastry items on the night of Halloween. There was only one girl working at the bakery section so it took a long time to get our turn but she was friendly and I felt bad it was only her there even though there was other employees around. A lot of the items were really good I enjoyed it a lot, definitely recommend to others to try it out! Lots of variety too!

  • joy maltby

I had my husband’s birthday party catered by Sweet Paradise today. I ordered the cold buffet 3 and an antipasto and a meat tray. I am thrilled with the quality and amount of food that was supplied for the cost. Dealing with Maria and Anne in the phone was a pleasure. I will definitely use them in the future for party catering. I love their Waterdown store as well. Excellent quality.

  • Omar R.

Food 5* Vibe 5* Service 4* This is the Number 1 Bakery in Hamilton. Everything is baked fresh, and their selection is overwhelming. You won't go wrong with whatever you get from here. I do suggest shopping here when you aren't hungry, otherwise you'll end up buying everything. My favorite item in this Bakery is the Portuguese tarts. Give my review a like if you agree.

  • Stephen Eck

Sweet Paradise is a lovely Italian Bakery and Deli with a special feel. Great for specialty bakery items like Cannoli’s, Pecan Tarts, Lemon Bombs and other tasty treats. It is as advertised. A sweet taste of Italy. I had a Sicilian Cannoli and was very pleased. Lots of bottled Italian Sodas and a good assortment of well priced imported Italian coffee.

  • Neil Westfield

This a such an awesome store. We usually get the prepared frozen meals, mainly chicken Parm. The Greek salad is really good also except we use a different dressing than the one that is given, as it is a little inferior. The sliced meats are very good quality and so tasty. Not a big fan of the breads and rolls. But all in all, a great place to shop.

  • Elizabeth Hickey

So disappointed!!! Ordered a large cake for a 70th birthday get together with explicit instructions . The cake was dry and the buttercream icing I requested was whipped cream. I have been disappointed too many times by this bakery. And shame on you for not answering my earlier communication. You've lost my business and that of 18 guests. Liz

  • YYZREVIEW

Decided to stop by as o WAS told they have good donuts, went to the waterdown location and was told this one is bigger and better Very big bakery deli. Lots of selections like the fact that one of the bakers was honest and told me canolli shells are imported. The canolli was ok but the apple fritter was amazing nice spot for all your needs

  • r Lala

I went there yesterday. Prepared to get a whole bunch of deli meat because they slice it just the way you like it very thin and in layers they were out of three kinds of meat that I wanted. Then I went to the bakery. They had literally had no buns left. No donuts left. The store was empty. It was a waste of my time going there

  • Cindy Jensen

Delicious baked goods, meats, deli meats and prepared and frozen foods. The parking is usually difficult but recently it’s been better so that is awesome. You have to get there early if you want any of the really good fresh popular stuff. But they still had plenty to choose from by the time I got there… Unfortunately ;-)

  • Aamenah Mohiuddin

Hands down the best place for cakes that actually taste good! We have ordered the lemon cake and carrot cake for our children's birthday parties. They are always ready on time for pickup and our guests are always asking where we got the cake from. Also once tried a macaron on a whim from their bakery and it was amazing!

  • Kelly Mckay

You need A classic delicious apple fritter this is your place to go, make sure you go early they go fast! They are sweet, cinnamony, with chunks of apple So delicious the dough just melts in your mouth. Such a great little spot for your specialty items and fresh ready to bake home made meals. A little gem in the city

  • Hariyalee

Awesome! Awesome! Premium cakes are my all time favourite! Rest are good too! Didn’t try all but some of my all time favourite are White strawberry chocolate mousse, Nutella supreme and sweet paradise chocolate! ❤️‍ FYI - white strawberry chocolate mousse in a picture! Large size serves 18-20 people!

  • Mark (Mark)

Great......well, everything. Love their deli, baked goods, both savory and sweet. Really enjoy their prepared meals. We buy the large meals and portion them into individual meals, which we freeze. Friendly staff.... reasonable (for 2023) prices and we just won't talk about the parking …

  • Natalie E

Stopped in to look for some meat pies, unfortunately there was not many left. There is an amazing selection of breads, desserts, deli meat and cheese, frozen dishes and more. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. There is very limited parking so it was difficult getting a spot.

  • Michelle Moore

VERY, VERY, VERY impressed!! I DO NOT usually like chocolate cake, and I don't care for cherries either... with that being said.... One of the BEST cakes I've EVER tasted!! Thank you Sweet Paradise for making my boyfriend's special day even sweeter!! Perfect Black Forest cake!!

  • Romin Rauf

Such a great experience with so many options for food, dessert, meat, and hot foods. Also a great way to run operations with many active and friendly employees serving each section. Highly recommend anyone to visit this place and enjoy everything they’ve got to offer

  • Joseph K

For years, I’ve been coming here to order their cake. I call the day before with the cake in mind and they have it ready the very next day. Good selection of cakes and are very well made, big portions/size and delicious. My favourite is the strawberry romanoff.

  • Jennifer Miller

Went in the other day. Havent been here since i was a kid. Totally different inside. Well organized, lots of options. Found they are alittle pricey now but the cost of everything has gone up. You wont be dissapointed, the bread and baked goods are so amazing.

OMG, we ordered our wedding cake from here years ago and it was amazing. We still stop by once in a while. We recently stopped by and got some cheesecake slices and a cannoli doughnut. They were absolutely delicious, especially the cannoli doughnut.

  • darren osburn

Really cool Italian bakery. The pizza to heat up by the slice was fantastic- and tasted just like the same type of pizza in Italy. Amazing! The arancini was good, but not as good as in Italy. The pork cold cuts and cheese we got were so good too!

  • Lucille Blaylock

So dissatisfied. $200 for a pickle tray, veggie tray and shrimp ring. All were smaller than a dinner plate and maybe $50 worth of food. Had to go buy more as this will not be enough for the amount of people I ordered it for. Won’t be going back.

  • Andrea Boyko

Love the pastries here! They are hot and homemade. Best to go first thing in the morning to get the baked goods fresh and hot from the oven. There’s a good selection at the deli as well as frozen and prepared Italian foods and comfort foods.

  • Manan Anand

Never been disappointed With any of the food or desserts I’ve gotten from here. The cannolis in the baked goods area are fantastic and my favourite. Everything else is fresh baked and over the top tasting that is absolutely worth the price

  • Julian Serena

If you know, you know. Can't call yourself a local if you haven't been at least once! Hi quality fare, friendly staff and extremely popular. Parking can be chaotic but that's because it's worth the visit. Try their lemon meringue pie!

  • Mary (MortgageMary)

Always a clean store, and very pleased with the Covid protocols in place. Everything I get here is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. Love their pies (coconut, lemon cream, chocolate) and their mocha cake is delicious! Friendly staff too.

  • Brittany Hachey

Your fritters may be delicious, but your service is questionable at best. Don’t accept orders you cannot accommodate. And don’t be rude to your customers when you’re unable to accommodate their orders!

This Store only rates 4.5 ? Totally unacceptable , should be 4.9 ! Their quality of goods/services are always first-rate. Nobody can match their honey dipped donuts . Their sour-dough bread and butter is heavenly .

  • G'mmel Ola

A real bakery with a true Italian touch. Wife indulged in the cannoli donut while I binged on the truly spectacular butter tarts. Brought back sweet memories of my childhood visiting bakeries with my mother.

  • Jack Hellewell

I love the donuts and pastries here! The lemon filled Donuts are to-die-for If Only they would cover them with chocolate fondant instead of that horrible white messy powdered sugar. Just saying! *hugs* JACK

Rude, impatient and condescending service when we inquired about desert trays for 50. Made to feel as we were wasting their time. Walked out and found a better bakery with better attitudes.

  • Paola Verteramo

Best fritters ever! I live in London but was in the area so I made a detour and bought a box of to take home. Fritters for breakfast are delicious. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • Chef K

Great people. Even better goodies. Prepackaged food is a bit pricey but I've never bought it I can't say if its worth the price. I can say the sweet are amazing!!!

  • Alexzander Petri

Bought myself a veal parm sandwich and two Portuguese tarts and it was reaaaal good. They know what they’re doing over there. If you’re in the area, I recommend.

  • RJRC Funguy

OMG! If you love good food and delicious baked goods. Visit this place on the mountain! Don’t go in hungry! - LOL - very busy cake counter at times, be patient.

  • J. Langille

I always visit too late in the day to find more than a couple kinds of donuts, but the one I had was delicious. The pastry cases are a feast for the eyes!

  • Joan (Joan)

bought a peice of espresso cheesecake to try out today, no espresso nor cheese flavour... just just eating concentrated sugar.. tasted really disgusting

  • Nick W

I still havent been able to get my hands on the infamous fritters, however their Cannolis are some of the best in the GTAH area. I highly recommend them

  • JASON NIKISCHIN

Sauce great. Pastries, bread, small grocery all great. Parking ok. Park on street good. Reccomend. Busier on weekends. A LA Vodka sauce is very good.

  • Samuel Daleo

Great staff all through out the store, awesome bakery, deli and frozen section, with great pizza, best apple fritters you'll ever put your hands on!!

  • Mehak Joshi

Best Bakery. Perfect amount of sweetness in cakes unlike other bakeries which are way too sweet. The quality of cakes is fantastic and fresh!

  • Judy Torres

I ordered a napoleon cake for a birthday party. The cake was amazing and fresh with quality ingredients. Enjoyed by all. Highly recommend

  • sheila white

Beautiful spot. Very fresh foods and great cold cuts. Not sure why frozen onion rings are made in China though and sold there.

  • Subhas Ganguli

Great place for Italian groceries and fresh baked goods. Nice selection of olives, cheese and imported Italian foodstuffs.

  • David Creighton-Perry

Amazing sweet treats and deli! Very helpful staff and too many good things I want to try! We'll definitely be back again.

  • Shiny Abraham

The cake was already expired I think as when we cut the same day in the evening it was smelling bad. Fungus in the center

  • Kaellum

Would be amazing to have their cheese buns last long enough to have some I the afternoon. They sell out too quick.

  • Priyanka Dangol
