Been here since Kindergarten, and I love all of the people here. Sure, the school is kind of tough, but you sort of get used to it. Fair amount of homework in middle school, but sometimes we get very heavy workloads (both during the week and the weekends, as well, meaning a little less free time than at other schools). My brother is in elementary school right now, and he gets much less homework than I used to get. If you don't manage your time, you get to stay up until the morning. Organization is key. Most teachers here are usually understanding and try to explain things clearly, although some of the administration still scare me (though some are okay). Most students that I have met here are friendly and we help each other out with homework occasionally. Everyone has chances to talk and get to know one another. The Fine Arts programs and celebrations (such as Hispanic Heritage, Lunar New Year, and Black History) are always nice and interesting. I would say that teachers here move at a fairly fast pace, but most teachers have tutorials just in case if you need a little extra help with that certain subject. If you take your time to get your work done the best you can, you can succeed at this school (which doesn't necessarily even mean getting all A's) and have extra time to do some activities. Overall, if you want to take the challenges and stay up later than you should (a lot of the time), I would recommend going here.

My son was here only in 6th & 7th Grade. Then he was asked to leave bcoz not keeping his passing grades in the core subjects. I took him out and enrolled him in other Middle School in 8th and now he is a Junior in High School, and doing well in school. In TH Rogers, teachers give too much of homeworks, kids really don't have much time to relax at home after school. Too much of pressure and they are all stressed up . As a mom, I also felt the pressure, bcoz I need to make sure he's doing homework and studying for his test and keeping up with his grades. I know and understand that TH Rogers is the top school in Texas and every parents dream of sending their kids here but It is better to think twice before sending kids here. Can they take all the pressure ? Not only Kids need to work really hard , but parents too. Not only T.H Rogers is preparing the kids to succeed in High Schools , but all others Middle Schools are also preparing students for High School and wants to see them succeed in High Schools and also in their life.

It's a really good school. I'm in 6th grade. The teachers are really nice too, I don't know why you haters saying the teachers are bad. They're nice teachers. Not to offend any of the teachers or be mean to them, but the art teacher is my favorite. So sad she's gonna leave next year :(. The teachers do give a lot of homework though, but you can finish it easily. You learn a lot too. (Now i'm in 7th grade) Oh and @Freidrichsman Wuetimbager Few things, first of all that's child abuse, that's not allowed in U.S. Second of all, I think you got the wrong school, we don't have to run a mile in 2 minutes. That's impossible right now. The world record is 3 minutes and 43 seconds. Third of all, they don't abuse us. Fourth of all, we don't stay up until 6 am doing homework. Otherwise we can't sleep. If you did only for like 10 minutes. 5th of all, do you even live in the U.S? Do you live in Germany or something and there's another school called T.H.Rogers?

The staff members are incompetent and show favoritism. The staff make me feel unwelcomed and idiotic at times which is really annoying and it makes me mad sometimes, but there's nothing I can do about it. The teachers are okay but can be unfair, especially when it comes to tests. A majority of the positive reviews you see are from 7th graders that have brand new teachers that know how to teach with minimal homework. When I was here in 7th, the teachers I had weren't good at teaching. They did not give material that is engaging and interesting. Most of the time, our homework was something the teacher randomly created or from a workbook. The math teacher was not even here half the school year and we had a sub for most of our math classes. Now, my teachers are decent; they give a substantial amount of homework, but I'm glad that they are a lot better than my teachers in 7th grade here. I'M GLAD I DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL ANYMORE

great school. academics are great! most of the teachers teach well and even if you don't understand, you can go to tutorials or get help from a friend/older student. there's a lot of homework/projects, but it's definitely manageable. teachers are very understanding as long as you're not a problem student. sixth/seventh grade teachers range from okay to awesome. most are great (!!), some are slightly biased. one main problem in rogers is the lack of electives: i.e., in eighth grade there are around 8 electives, multiple of which are very similar (art I and art 8, for example), so really there are about 6 different electives. in terms of school environment, there's rarely any bullying/violence and no drugs or harmful substances being passed around. the community is really great! overall though, rogers is a great school that really shines in academics and students but lacks a bit in electives/clubs/extracurriculars.

I gave T H Rogers 5 stars because this is an amazing school. I've spent my entire middle school here, and they were the best years of my life so far. You may have heard many rumors about how this school has so much work, and it's true. T H Rogers pushes you to bring out your full potential, but how your experiance is at this school also depends on you. Definitely be organized and manage your time well. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. The teachers are wonderful, understanding, and always willing to help. The principals are outstanding and are always doing so much for the school. The people here are also very nice and this is a no-bullying school, and you learn so much about the importance of character. If you want to learn in a comfortable environment, want to strengthen your character, and want to succeed in academics, this is the school for you. If you choose to go here, I promise you won't regret it.

I give the school 5 stars because it truly deserves it. Most teachers at public schools teach because they have to and just to prepare their students for the STARR test but the teachers at Rogers truly make the learning experience fantastic and prepare students for success. Also, there are a lot of good sports there and many awesome electives. Yes, I do agree there is more homework than other public schools but if you learn how to manage your time right you'll be fine and plus there is homeroom! My favorite part about school though is there are a lot of engaging and challenging assignments and really nice smart people who go to the school which makes school fun!!!!!!!!! I recommend it because not only is it fun but will set up the "Rams" (students) for success. My advice is to just work hard so your not sacrificing sleep but other than that I love school!

I think this school is okay. The teachers are very nice and understanding and teach very well but can be a little extra when it comes to homework. The students are ok and some are..... special (personality wise)..... Some of the students can be very welcoming and friendly and you will almost immediately fit in if you are new. (((((((side note from personal experience: If you are a student who typically gets b-c's then the in-class environment could make you feel like you have anxiety and can make you think less of yourself because many of the kids are very gifted and talented))))((DO NOT THINK THIS WAY. You go to T.H. Rogers :) )). There is not much diversity in this school considering that almost 85-90% are Asian (not that this is bad). This school can be very stressful if you don't manage your time right but other than that it's pretty good.

T.H. Rogers is a really cool school and if you enjoy being challenged its a good choice. Yes, the homework load is above average, but you can handle it easily if you just do it the day it is assigned. Most rumors say that you're up till midnight doing homework and the work is extremely hard and they give quizzes everyday. This is not true. I go here and I honestly think its not as hard as I wanted it to be. I think they should make the curriculum a little harder because the kids who go here really want to be challenged and not sit around listening to stuff they learned in 5th grade. Overall, T.H. Rogers is probably the best choice for anyone who wants to be challenged in HISD and if you are thinking about applying here I recommend you do it right away!

  • Anjni Patel

This is a GREAT school! I only came for 8th grade, but I wish I had been here since kinder. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Some teachers can show a bit of favoritism, but I mean every school is going to have a little bit of it. No school is going to be perfect. Everybody I asked said that the school is really hard and unfair, but honestly it was fun! It was challenging , no doubt, but it was do-able. I made awesome friends, and I learned a great deal. If your child likes to be challenged and is willing to work hard, this is the school. Don't miss this opportunity just because of rumors that the school is way TOO hard. I urge you to go here or put your child here. Good luck! ; ) <3 <3

T.H.Rogers is a wonderful school. Everyone thinks that we stay up till 2 doing our homework this is not true. You have to use your time wisely. T.H.Rogers has work but we do have fun. We celebrate many cultures. T.H.Rogers has a cultural festival every month. The work load is medium. One week you will have no tests and sometimes barely any homework but the next week you may have 3 tests and a lot of homework. T.H.Rogers is preparing us to be high level thinkers and succeed in our lives.

  • anonymous

I go to T.H. Rogers, and I think it's a great school. There is some homework, but there's only a lot if you can't focus well on it. If you just get it done, there really isn't that much. Sure, the teachers can be strict and mean, but hey, it's middle school and the teachers are probably not used to so many students. The school environment that T.H. Rogers holds is like none other. There's a reason why T.H.Rogers is one of the better middle school in Houston.

T H Rogers is a great school full of amazing students and teachers/staff that work hard to help the school succeed. The culture here is diverse therefore students get many opportunities to interact and experience different cultures. The school itself isn't new and fresh, but the community INSIDE is wonderfully warm and welcoming. Everyone here has their own unique abilities that add up to help make Rogers a great place to look forward to everyday.

  • Mudasir Haq

The staff and teachers are incredible, caring, and helpful. The work isn't that hard, unless you manage your time effectively. Procrastination will kill your grades. Very diverse, and the principal (Mr. Muzyka) REALLY cares for all of his students and works hard to keep the school top notch. Making friends is easy and everyone is insane and kind, have fun there.

  • Rey Ghozali

This is a wonderful school. I thought it would be hard because of all the work, but it turns out I loved it. Sure, the work is plentiful and hard, and the 7th grade math teacher was horrible (don't worry, she retired) but I love it because the other teachers are wonderful and the people there are so friendly. My mom loved it and I love it so much.

2 much hw sanity lo9st when in 6th grade teachers are super meen and they give alotof work. h8 this schhol so much and people say that if you dont go to school your a hobo but thats the opposite and would give it 0 stars and also as they say smart people work at mcdonalds and people with good grades go to higher learning.

  • Joyce Weng

You would think that there would be a great amount of homework, quizzes, and tests since TH Rogers is a 7 star school, but the amount of homework, quizzes, and tests are average. It's just the amount of knowledge added to student brains during class where we have extremely excellent teachers!

  • Renea “Dee Dee” Johnson

My son goes there and this his second year of attending. He's also deaf. From experience this is a wonderful school. Especially for the special needs of him. He's learned so much at this school. There's nothing like it in Houston. That's my opinion though. I'm certain others would agree.

  • Rajul Doriwala

better than what we had heard, and we had heard great things about it. very open, cool and accommodative culture there. if you visit in person or even on phone, you get that feeling. and of course, academically brilliant school. one of main reason for staying put at houston.

  • Gowtham Kadiyala

T.H. Rogers is a very diverse school with a very good staff. I like the challenges given by the teachers because it is a GT school. This school really teaches a lot and the teachers get to the point. They work at your pace.

  • Piano Chord Cookies

Great school. Great principal who cares and invests so much of his time and energy into the school. Great teachers who put in extra effort to make this place special. Has to be one of the most unique schools in the country.

  • delaney costa

eh. it's hard because each teacher thinks their class is the most important and therefore each gives a lot of homework. it's hard to have a social life and i don't recommend you send your kid here :( insta @delaneysccosta

  • Tamara Wattenbarger

The School is Insane, just like the students and teachers in it. It makes you work, but you look forward to it at the same time. Don't go here unless you know what you are getting in to. Yet, I still love it.

  • ngoc nguyen

It's a so stressing, yet we try hard to keep up. It's still amazing. Everyone here is amazing. Makes you feel like you belong once you stepped through those doors. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

  • hannah rosanes

Great school. There is some homework but its all necessary and depends on where you are in the class. The teachers are great and do sometimes push you but it is to be a better person and student.

  • Ryan Rosario

Its a very good school overall. The teachers are nice and teach very good. There is a lot of homework but eventually, most people learn to cope with it.

  • Victor Foster

It's an awesome school, I love the school especially the kinds of friends you can have. The teachers are awesome, especially the orchestra teacher.

  • Tim Lampith

teachers dont give WAY too much h.w. but they are definitely rude to students. teachers also picks favorites and when they do it effects learning

  • Trooper_Z

I have went to this school for a year now. Pretty easy to make friends, but there are a lot of groups that hangout together. Teachers are ok.
