I'd love to share the intricate details of what I presently refer to as the best years of my L.A. life for 8 years straight from 2008-2016, but this review would go on forever. So I will make it short and sweet in hopes that the photos I have stumbled across tells a better story of the people, the families, the non-profit organization that I proudly served for half of the time that I have been in Los Angeles. In saying this, when I moved to L.A. I was soul searching for community, new & geniuine real friendships and spiritual guidance. When the recruiter called me to inquire on my availability, the enthusiasm in her voice said it all. I remember the conversation like it was yesterday as I made it clear that i knew little to nothing about Judiasm or facilities management as it pertained to a school system ...in particular in Hollywood. The recruiter was convinced that I was the guy for the job and went on to set up the interview. The interview with the newly hired Executive Director at the time was heart-felt, casual and perfect in everyway. I was interviewing for the position of Facilities Manager(which later evolved into Director of Facilities) and the position would entail spearheading a multi-million dollar renovations and historical construction project for the Temple, managing and supervising events and implementing newness in every way possible. I'd just moved to Los Angeles after completing facilities management projects with dot.coms, startups and a major advertising firm in the Bay Area. For this I was up to the challenge but this would be more than a challenge, for this would be the answer to my prayers in finally becoming apart of a community, showing off my leadership skills, working towards insurmountable goals and gaining some spiritual guidance and know-how along the way. After coming on board and meeting the board members, administrations, the Rabbis, the womens-group( a group of Jewish women leaders throughout the community)----in fact it was after their meeting and the meeting of the Temple's longtime Librarian Enid Sperber is what made me feel like I was Home. I witnessed toddlers and children growing up into their teens, speaking from the Bima of the Torah. I participated in the historical Martin Luther King celebration. The constrcution project was a success. The experience and the memories I have of working at and with Temple Israel of Hollywood will remain with me for life as going down in the history books as one of the best places I have worked for in my 30+ year work history. It has been a few years since I resigned from the position and today, especially after listening to and reading Rabbi Michelle's delivery on "Pleading with God" and "Let's Talk About Racism" Spirit moved me to write this review simply because in my struggles, trials and tribulations---I realize that "We Are Not in this Alone---We are All In This Together" ---this is my grand opportunity moving forward in Being Real. Being Honest. Being Us. If I can ever speak up for this awesome and super-diverse community, despite any miscommunications, heresay, the past or "whatever" I speak from the heart, with light and love and my hopes is that if you are looking for a community to fellowship with---This is the place. I'm certain that they will welcome you home with open arms. Peace & Love - Patrick

This is a great place I use to go here back in the day and was a very religious place in the 80s. But I do remember the grape wine and awesome marriages with the Israeli crowd going beserk.....Low-key …

Incredibly compassionate for the flight of the homeless and lonely. Providing comfort triggered by a Rabbi that loves God's children irrespective of faith and leading others through example. .

Wonderful people. Someone complained that it wasn't worth the money (you can go and it won't cost a penny). These people didn't talk to the membership people. I love it. Also K-12 school!

Broadcasting on Yom Kippur is not to be done. It's a holiday that bans the use of anything with electricity

This place is not for people who follow the rules or religious code at all. Too “reform” for me.
