Not knowing about Tanner Motors at the time, I went to Mercedes of North Scottsdale for a full inspection on my car (which cost me $210). After inspection- they gave me an estimate of a whopping $9,000 for a myriad of issues they saw with the car. They stated I had an oil leak and to clean, put dye and test for further leaks, and repair - they estimated around $6,000. They stated my oil leak was from “wear and tear, and the life of the car. I did not believe this to be true because my Mercedes is a 2015 year and only 76,000 miles. I never had a car accident and never so much went further than Vegas or LA. I couldn’t believe the charge which was mostly labor costs rather than parts costs. I started searching for other mechanics that specialize in Foreign cars. I was recommended Tanner Motors. Immediately after calling them, Derrick was able to set me up a quick appointment and give me a ball-park estimate on the said repairs needed - which mind you was less than HALF the costs that Mercedes of North Scottsdale charged. I decided to go with Tanner Motors. I was able to schedule an appointment just 3 days later and get a FULL inspections FREE of Charge. It was wonderful!!! They give you pictures and full explanation of what needs to be done and why, and what’s working well on the car. I was in awe of the professionalism and thoroughness. As a lay person in cars - for the first time I was able to fully understand my car, what’s going on with it, what I needed to change and why, and how to maintain my car. Some of the “issues” that Mercedes of North Scottsdale stated - were actually false. I was told my rear breaks were 2mm and 4mm - not the appropriate 8mm. I actually had my brakes replaced 1 year ago and thought it completely wildddd that they are in such terrible condition. Mercedes charged me $400 for brake repairs. Tanner Motors stated they were at 8mm and functioning properly- which made sense because my service light on the car does not blink for it and I myself don’t feel any issues with the brakes. It’s crazy to me that Mercedes own company either is trying to rip me off or has unqualified technicians working for them. Instead of $9,000 that Mercedes charged me - I paid $2,000 at Tanner Motors for all the repairs required on my car. I am sooooooo happy to have been recommended Tanner Motors - I completely trust them- they are honest, thorough, punctual, and reliable. They have great warranty - I changed my 2 tires and have 3 year roadside warranty (which covers if you damage the tire on the road) - Which is an even better deal than Discount tire- because their warranty does not include this (it’s only if the tire is defective or doesn’t last their promised time that they uphold it- not if you damage it). I am super thrilled to have Tanner Motors as my mechanic from now on - Derrick is an amazing service manager- he’s all about cost savings and safety for the customer. I really appreciate having him as a service manager - he is very personable, honest and very kind. I was treated very well at Tanner Motors, they provide free shuttle ride home after dropping off your car and free drink while you wait! I had a wonderful experience and they fixed all the repairs in 1-2 days! I am so happy with my experience and will only go to them from now on! Best place for auto repair! Trustworthy! Always the best! Our family wouldn’t go anywhere else for our vehicles. This is an add on to our previous reviews. We always take all our families vehicles to Tanner. They are reasonable in price, they're genuinely expert in their field and do an excellent job every time. Highly recommended! We were having a problem with water coming from somewhere into our Volvo and literally leaving 1/2 inch of water on the floor boards. I stopped in Tanner and in less than an hour they located and resolved the issue. It air conditioning condensation drain was clogged. This is yet another fine example of Tanner's deep experience with Volvos. I cannot even imagine the outcome had I taken it to the dealership that we purchased our car at. Thank you Tanner automotive for your honest and highly integrity service that you provide! Five star service starting with our service advisor, Derek. This is the second major repair that Tanner has done on our 2006V 70 Volvo. This is also the second five star repair that we have experienced from this very fine company. These guys know Volvos far better than anyone, even the dealerships! They are clean, articulate, organized, prizeworthy, excellent and honest. I highly recommend them! Every experience with a Tanner Motors is 5 star! UPDATE: TANNER DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB ON REPAIRING OUR DAUGHTERS NEW HONDA AFTER IT WAS REAR ENDED BY A CADILLAC SU . DERRICK IS OUR GO TO GUY. 5 STAR ALL THE WAY. Another update: Tanner is still taking care of our vehicle's and they continue doing a five star job. We love this place and our trust is deeply in their great work. Derrick is our service adviser and he's truly the best. We find it impossible to not work through Derrick. He knows our vehicle's, our family and what is needed to keep it investments in our vehicle's protected with proper professional service. These guys, especially Derrick, are absolutely the best! Another update: We have a 2017 Hyundai ELANTRA. The Hyundai dealership replaced the air conditioning to previous locations while it was still about two years old. It went out again. Because we trust Tanner Automotive we had the air-conditioning replaced by Tanner. It works absolutely perfect. Thank you, Tanner Automotive!

As a 6-7 year returning customer of Tanner Motors, I've had mostly positive experiences during my visits. However, my recent visit was less satisfactory. Normally, I pay $150 for diagnostics, which I've done for all my cars, even before purchasing them. This time I came in for delayed acceleration, the diagnostic cost was unexpectedly raised to $299, without a clear breakdown of hours spent, which I found displeasing. In addition, during this visit, I also paid approximately $289 for a fuel system cleaning. They suggested I also get spark plugs replaced for an additional $300. I opted to have the fuel system cleaning done but decided to have my regular mechanic handle the spark plug replacement to save on costs. The response I received from the staff was curt, with a comment implying they were my sole mechanic. This caught me off guard, as my interactions with the owner in the past had been more understanding and accommodating. I've always come to Tanner Motors solely for diagnostics, as the owner had advised me years ago that I could find more cost-effective services elsewhere due to their expertise as master mechanics. However, during this visit, I felt pressured to have all services done in-house. It's worth noting that I've never had any actual repairs performed at Tanner Motors before. Upon picking up my car, the same staff member was present. I showed him the spark plugs and asked if they were the right ones. He dismissively responded that there are many types of spark plugs and he wouldn't be able to determine if they were correct. This interaction left me frustrated and questioning the quality of service. Ultimately, it turned out that the issue with my car was related to the transmission, which meant both my time and money were wasted pursuing unnecessary services. Regrettably, this experience has left me with the decision to seek assistance elsewhere in the future, as my trust in Tanner Motors has been shaken.

Great service, outstanding quality of work. Tanner motors cares about what they do, you can see it in the staff from the front desk to the garage to the owner. My wife and I have been using Tanner motors to service our vehicles for about 10 years now. We don't have new cars. A 2005 Volvo wagon and a 2013 Ford F-150. They look and act new thanks to the mechanics at Tanner motors. We bring our vehicles in at least twice a year for maintenance and when something pops up. Tanner motors works with you and what it's going to cost before they do the work. They will have options and help you prioritize if you have multiple issues. I trust them to do what's right for me, my car, and themselves for the sake of keeping my cars in good shape and on the road. Trust. It's something that can't be demanded or expected from the customer, it has to be earned. Over the years Tanner motors has earned my trust by being open and communicative. That's why I use Tanner motors, I trust them. Derrick at the front desk is like a member of my family. Well, not too close, like a third cousin. He tells me how it is and what it's going to cost. It's never gone over. Chris Tanner, the owner, is friendly, goes out of his way to say hello every time I come in, and was the actual mechanic working on both my cars. Can't get any better than that. I bought a lemon back in January of 2022 and didn’t know I had bought one. My Mini was always sluggish and I didn’t think anything of it. In New York we didn’t need cars when there’s always a subway or the Metro North to get around. The turbo failed at 72k miles and I purchase the car at 83k. I wasn’t aware that there was an issue with my car. I kept getting “engine malfunction” notifications on my dashboard recently in July 2022. I also had bought new tires & wheels for my Mini that caused my steering wheel to vibrate badly when I would go over 50 miles an hour. I got a wheel alignment a few months back thinking the problem would be fixed and it wasn’t. I googled Mini repair shops and came acrosss Tanner Motors. I’ve brought my car to mechanics before and always got ripped off or wasn’t kept in the loop about anything regarding the car. So I went in there expecting for the service to be mediocre. But Derrick & Greg took care of my car and explained things that I didn’t even know. He was patient and took the time to tell me what was going on. Kept me in the loop about my extended warranty and what it covered. Driving it now, it’s an entirely different car. It never drove so smooth, I was in shock. I’m extremely satisfied with the work they did on the car. And I will definitely be a returning customer.

I really hate to leave a review like this, but after what I went through with Tanner Motors, I've got to be straight up to save others the same trouble. Took my Audi Q5 to Tanner Motors because they say they're good with European cars. Not long after they worked on it, the motor gave out on the highway. Wasn't a great start, especially since I was in the middle of moving across the country. I figured everyone deserves a second chance, so I had them do an engine swap. Big mistake. My car just sat there from July to November. Kept telling me it would be ready by the end of each week, then the same story the next week, and so on. It wasn't just the wait that bothered me, it was the runaround and feeling like they didn't know what was up. When I did get it back (which meant shipping it across the country to my new home), I hadn't even driven 150 miles before the check engine light was back on, with the car acting up just like before. If you're thinking about going to Tanner Motors, I'd really think twice. For the time, the stress, and your hard-earned money, it's just not worth it. I wanted to give these guys a fair shot, but after all this, I gotta say, you're probably better off going somewhere else. Don't take the risk - there are plenty of other shops out there.

I was looking for a new place to service my Range Rover, I needed an oil change. I found Tanner online and after reading their reviews decided to give them a call. Scheduling was easy and very friendly. When I went for the appointment I decided to wait while the oil change was done; I found the waiting area comfortable and the wifi was strong enough I was able to do some work. When I was checking out, Derek informed me that my battery would need to be replaced soon, even though it looked newer. It hadn't given me issues so I didn't think much of it, needless to say Tanner and Derek were correct. I unfortunately had to purchase another battery from another place. Derek offered to have his "battery guy" take a look at my old battery to see if they could determine if it was under warranty. Turns out, it was and Derek reimbursed me for the cost as they received credit for it. I couldn't believe they were willing to do that! The experience from start to finish was nothing short of excellent. I will absolutely recommend them and I will for sure be back for any other maintenance for my vehicle. Thank you so much Derek and the team at Tanner for this great experience!

I just moved to the area and brought my Volkswagen Touareg in for an oil change and also had a brake pad light on so had them check the brakes. First of all I was amazed at how thorough the group is. I had all services done because the prices I felt were reasonable. One thing that struck me when I first got there was that people waiting in line weren't like me and first time customers they were repeat customers and that gave me a feeling of confidence that I brought my vehicle to the right shop. I was greeted at the door by the owner Chris and had Derrick for my technician and I can't say enough about the professionalism of both of these guys. The entire staff was a pleasure to deal with. They even located an extra key fob for my Volkswagen that I had no clue was hidden under the hood in the engine area by the previous owner. That alone saved me about $400 because I was about to buy another one. That also made my day. They stand by their service as well with a warranty that is second to none. Thank you Tanner motors for being a shop that's a cut above the rest. And I'm really glad you're just across the street from where I live.

I recognized the name Tanner and it's type font being from a decades old, well established Volvo dealership in Phoenix. The sign clearly described it's company specializing in service not only to Volvo's but also BMW's. I pulled into the parking area saw the service bays were neat and clean. Entering the office and waiting area, I felt comfortable. The service writer, Derrick was friendly and knowledgeable. I made an appointment for service for my BMW. Two days later I arrived a bit late but Derrick welcomed me in letting me know it would be about an hour and a half to complete the work. I refused the courtesy shuttle and coffee in lieu of taking a walk. I returned to the office at the estimated completion time to find my car parked in front. I paid for the service which was about half of what the dealership would charge. On top of the great service an extensive report was sent to me via email showing everything they checked. In today's business I occasionally feel totally satisfied but Tanner Motors stands apart from the others by exceeding my expectations thus earning my highest praise of being a great value. This shop is top notch! The lexus dealer gave me a long to do list with an incredible price tag. My daughter used Tanner for her BMW and kept telling me I should take my car too. I resisted because I live in Mesa. I finally made the call for an estimate of what the dealer said I needed. From that phone call on, it has been a real pleasure. They checked out my car and told me it didn't need but a couple things on the list. They could have said it needed all that and more, but they didn't! Car drop off was easy, check out was easy, pick up was easy. I had great communication throughout the process. I only dealt with one very calm, pleasant and competent contact person. Thank you, Derrick. I feel I received value for my money and on top of that I have a 2 year/24 month warranty, nationwide.They took care of my dream car and I know I can drive it across the country and back with confidence. Great communication, honest, easy to work with and very experienced professionals. I didn't meet the others involved but I'd like to say thank you to them as well! I would absolutely recommend them!!!!! Great experience!!!!!

Very disappointed in my recent experience. I had called ahead of time and asked specifically if they were able to repair a DSG transmission on my 2013 Audi s4 which they stated that yes they do and proceeded to set up a date and time for me to bring it in for the repairs. I told them the exact faults that were popping up which was pointing to replacing the gear position sensor on the DSG. Come to find out a day after dropping it off, they call me back and recommend just replacing the entire transmission with a used one(6.5k) or a brand new one (11k!!) instead of actually taking the DSG apart and replacing the sensor and harness like the TSB from Audi recommends. I don't get why they say they work on the DSG transmissions but then after dropping it off, recommend a unneccessary and overkill pricey solution then still charged me nearly $200. Then they state no one around will tear into those transmission, but after calling around myself, I found a shop who DOES do these repairs. I will NOT be returning to this establishment.

I wish I had found Tanner motors sooner. Although I paid a hefty bill it was more reasonable, done more efficiently and done better than any priors- and that includes Munich Motors, German Auto and of course the dealerships!! They took the time to actually look at my car rather than plug it in and tell me what's wrong with it LOL. I spent thousands at a different garage fixing things that weren't broken because I continued to have the same symptoms and issues. The issues we're finally fixed by Tanner!! Derrick and his staff are friendly and accommodating. They give you video footage of your car and it's issues, discuss the options and save money by combing labor on overlap issues. To sum up they were thorough, fair and efficient. They have a 24,000 mi warranty. I highly recommend this particular garage. They also provide complimentary transportation to and from. I thought that that was very nice.

I just got back from Tanner Motors checking my brakes and what an amazing experience. They are absolutely my new go to garage for service I will need with my Mercedes. Ultimately, they determined that the brakes did not need attention at this time. Additionally, they looked over a host of over things with my vehicle with photos and narrative to describe what they observed. All of that was emailed and texted to me in a link. They provided transportation to get me home and back again with lovey mints, a sticky note pad and pen in the car. Scheduling was very easy and Derrick was fantastic. I had read the other reviews which did lead to my selecting them. Since I do factor reviews into my decision making - I felt I should share my hugely satisfying experience. Since my dealership warranty is now over - I will definitely use them for all my future needs.

Wow! I literally just picked my car up and couldn’t submit a review fast enough…they were simply amazing. Not only did they complete the work faster than expected, they communicated with me throughout the entire process. Sending me texts with updates and calling to inform me of the status every day. I had two different mobile mechanics come look at my car prior to having it towed to Tanner Motors and neither was able to even diagnose the issues properly. Not only did Tanner diagnose and fix the issues promptly; but, they arranged the tow and everything in between. The car drives better than it did before I even had the issues arise and I can’t say enough good things about this place. Once again, Chris Tanner and team are absolutely top notch! The work they do is excellent and they stand behind EVERYTHING THEY DO! The pricing is a lot less than the dealerships and other shops, and most of all Tanner Motors is absolutely transparent! Nothing hidden, no upsell, and they document the work with pictures they send to your phone along with a written explanation and/or recommendation. They request your approval before each work item is begun, so there's no work done that you don't authorize. They are more than happy to explain what your vehicle requires and why. Tanner Motors is absolutely trustworthy. We have been customers of Tanner Motors for 5 years and we will never take our vehicles anywhere else!! These guys have a real sense of style and class that you just have to experience yourself.

Brought in my new to me Volvo for some repairs and maintenance a while back and was in and out in a day. They even overnighted the parts to do the job! Fast forward a couple of weeks and the original problem was back. Took it back in and it turned out the aftermarket parts were not the proper ones for the job. This was not their fault though, as the part was listed to work with my car. They worked with my warranty company and got me back on the road in a couple days. Couldn't be happier. They even gave me a part that fixed an issue I was just talking about in their lobby that I didn't even have an appointment for. It was a cheap valve for the front washer nozzle, but still really appreciated that gesture! Will be taking my car to them for all my Volvo service!

Went to get an all over check of my car. Was a little more expensive that I anticipated but was the only shop who was able to accurately look at my vehicle and tell me exactly what was wrong with it, it was worth the money. Even thought we decided to not go through with repairs (more than the cars worth) it was super helpful to be able to see everything that was wrong and was the only mechanic I went to that was able to do so. They didn’t try to scam me and say it was worth the repairs and don’t pressure into anything I didn’t need. They also replaced my coolant cap for free due to a crack that cause it to leak so I could get home with no issues. Will definitely be coming back for future service with my new vehicle.

Tanner motors gave me one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had from a car mechanic. They worked relentlessly with my warranty company to help me get the things I needed fixed on my car. They are reliable, fast, honest and efficient. They are knowledgeable about what they are doing and ensure you get the best care. I have had an ongoing positive experience with Tanner Motors over the past year. Initially, I brought my Audi Q7 in for a second opinion after having the dealer dx damaged engine mounts at 35k mi. They were able to confirm some of the claims made by the dealer and offer a competitive cost for replacement. I have since returned for repairs for a rear window shade, and now a blown cylinder. Both Derrick and Chris have been immensely helpful and straight forward with the extent of repair and whether the repair should be completed and who by. I have never encountered a repair shop that is as reliable, honest and knowledgeable as this shop. Well done guys.

If you have owned a Volvo V70, you are aware of what a great car it is. Do you also know what a disaster it is if your only Keyfob is lost? You not only have to get the new fob and reprogram it, the car itself must be reprogrammed with proprietary software from volvo. Tanner extended me every courtesy during this process. Derek was a true pro, he kept me in the loop and was remarkably patient when I called, he even stayed late on a Friday and provided me a Lyft when my car was ready, just so I had a car over the weekend. And the new key works just fine. Thanks Derek and thanks Tanner for taking such amazing care of my v70 and ME ….. highly recommend!

After my first time using the services at Tanner Motors I wouldn't go anywhere else! From the moment I walked in to picking up an hour later, the service was perfect. Prices are great and staff is amazing!! They text (and/or email) about everything! And, as I drove away I realized there was a note pad, pen, and travel mints sitting in my console! Such a nice touch and a way to set themselves apart from all the competition in this town. I highly recommend and them and do so on a regular basis. For a while, we dreaded driving our 2008 Mini Cooper. The interior vibration noise had reached a comically bad level. Additionally, it wasn't performing optimally: acceleration was sluggish and lagging. All that changed after a visit to Tanner Motors. They identified a broken engine mount as the cause of the excessive vibration and a dirty air filter that hampered the engine's performance. After the fixes, the car drives like it's new again.. and it's super quiet now. Idled at a stoplight recently, I began to question if the engine was even running (it was). Thank you Tanner Motors for a job well done.

First of all, the whole company is extremely kind. Derrick helped me out with any questions I had. My car had Soo many stubborn issues and not once did they complain. I always called for updates and they were always on point with any news on the car. They always answered all questions and were very courteous. They did an amazing job and were nice and kind all the way through. They have made a new customer that will always go back to them. They won me over. Honest and helpful, I brought a used Volvo I just purchased in to bring all the things up to date and approved the work. DERRICK advised me to let them do a total inspection before we moved forward with repairs. It turns out the engine needed work and was a bad investment. I returned the vehicle to where I purchased it from. TANNER MOTORS SAVED ME THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THEY HAVE TRUE INTEGRITY AND LOOK OUT FOR YOU BEST INTREST. Tanner worked on my previous Volvo and always did a great job. They have always been professional and a good value. This required a special software update- which required a special tool. Tanner contacted dealers around the area. No one had it. These guys earned my business. Most auto repair facilities think they deserve your business, these guys earned it. Had some issues with the car that weren't resolved on the first visit and they came and towed my car back to their shop and tried again. So far the second attempt worked. I've had a great experience at Tanner. They did a very thorough inspection and 120K service on my Volvo XC60, and their work comes with a warrantee - when the brake vacuum pump seal kit they used failed, they replaced the entire vacuum pump free of charge and performed some other services free of charge. I can't imagine taking my Volvo to another mechanic.
