I have been a member at TCH for two months and played over 100 hours there. I highly recommend this place for poker-fans in Austin for the following reasons: 1. It is very cheap (no rake no tip). Since TCH is technically a club rather than a casino, they charge members with a flat $10/hr fee. Also, you CANNOT tip the dealer according to the club rules. Compared to the standard "10%, $5 max" casino rake, the cost is lower by a significant margin. Thus, if you win more than two $50 pots in an hour (generally true for most players in most variants of the game), your cost is lower than playing at almost any casino. 2. Professional dealers The dealers at TCH are well-trained. Although some of them are more skillful than others, they are all professional and friendly to the players. The games are run smoothly. In addition, the receptionist and the cage managers are also nice and friendly, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. 3. Great player pool The players at TCH are diverse and friendly, with different level of skills just like in most casinos. It is a great place to meet some new friends and have some fun. Here is some additional information that may be helpful. 1. The average waiting time I experienced is around 10 mins, with the longest being approximately 45 mins. I usually get there pretty early. 2. They have a betting-line on each table, and any chip crossing that line stays in the pot. So be careful about that. 3. They sell soft drink and snack in the machine and offer free coffee and cold water. You can order food and have it delivered to the club. There is a pretty good Asian food restaurant, A+A, in a few hundred feet. 4. They have billiards, and there are TVs above each table. 5. They have a bad beat prize (7777x and above). Suggestions: 1. Charger outlets at the table for phones and tablets. 2. Hot water and tea. 3. Add some promotions: e.g. hourly best hand prize, splash pot, Aces cracked, etc. 4. Reward programs, membership card perhaps?

Mostly positive review here from me. PROS: management and staff all professional, floor rulings on hands generally correct, equipment is more than satisfactory, player disputes generally handled in the appropriate manner, place is clean. I personally get along well with the entire staff here, and am happy to consider some as friends. The beverage selection, at least as far as coffee and water are concerned, is excellent. Nominal charge for soda and sports drinks. CONS: At the end of the day, it is a business, but an hourly rate of $12.00 precludes me from offering up this establishment five stars. Furthermore, the lighting is rather dim. If you’re not careful, lighting can materially affect the quality of your play. In summary, I recommend this business. I should also mention that if you play early or late, you will receive a discount on your fees, which helps. If the fees were $9/hour and the lighting were impeccable...FIVE STARS NO QUESTION. Alas, this is not the case. So my endorsement comes with these two minor reservations, but I still enjoy coming here.

This was my first time. The place is easy to find and since it's in a shopping center there is plenty of parking. The first thing I noticed was the abundance of security. There were three armed guards near the front and I believe I also saw an off duty police officer patrolling the parking lot. Cant get much safer than that. Its nicely appointed, they did a good job on the tenant improvements, and it was just professional all the way around. Even clean bathroom. Plenty of options of games to choose from. I'd recommend this for any poker enthusiast looking for a safe, clean, and fair place to play. One last thing...for what its worth, when I look at reviews from others..whether positive or negative...I check to see their review history. 1. Do they only have 1 review? The chance of a legit person creating an account and just making 1 review seems unlikely. Did they really have that bad an experience and then never went anywhere else? Unlikely. Its usually haters. 2. Do they always seem to write negative reviews?

Have been 3 times. Tables, chips, and chairs are all fine. Dealers are similar to what you'd see in Vegas. Plenty of action. People have all been friendly and I appreciate the security inside and out. My main issue with TCH is that I feel like I'm being nickled and dimed. I can deal with the $10/ hour access charge but a $4 "check in fee" for a check in that takes about 20 seconds seems unnecessary. I also noticed that they recently added a tipping format for dealers, cage, etc. A dealer confirmed that they'd be getting paid less as a result. I'd expect some of those savings to be passed back to the players (who will now be making up the gap with tips)... no such luck. I do get the concept of supply and demand location-wise. All in all, it's not an awful deal (especially if you are playing bigger games), I just feel like it's a bit steep for a recreational 1/2 player.

Ok place to play... If you are used to online... Expect no grace as you will be looked down on... No matter how much experience you have there... Say nothing and play... Managing physical chips takes some adjustment so let them think you are a complete fish... Lots of egos in the room... Many clicks... Wednesday's "2000 Free Roll" will cost $20, and if you want anything resembling a stack that can stand with $150 or more if running bad. Fun to play live... But there are plenty of online sites where $6.00 gets you into a 2.5K guarantee... Playing for fun and physical social interaction in North Austin/Cedar Park/Leander - good place... Looking for ROI or a bar Poker Club... Or stick to online. I will play again, but just for fun and the experience...

The dealers are the worst they do not know the winning hands multiple times hands were called out by players. Alot of their repeating customers are the worst card players ever calling out of turn and going all in every other hand. I would rather save money and make the trip to other casinos that have professional dealers that can call hands and keep the table fair and honest if a player wins everyone should be able to identify how and with what he/she won. I would stay away from this place its trashy and bunch of loud late night drunks make it in here.

  • Imad Siddiqui

Went there on a Wednesday night, and they had few tables running 1-2 NHL cash games. First time at this place and the rules are a bit different compared to casinos. They dont take a rake (since that isn't legal) they have a per hour charge. You can tip the dealers but need to get separate tip chips. The game was good and all the players were good too. They seem to have a lot of regulars and good crowd. There was a cop sitting inside and one patrolling outside the venue. Not sure if this was due to past incident but I guess it's for security reasons.

I have been in the casino business for 10 yrs. and I have to say that the Texas Card House is true Vegas experience right here in the little city of Austin. Management ensures rules are followed and enforced, dealers are trained to a standard well above what one would expect, and the players are fantastic (lots of action and very few issues). If you are a local or visiting from out of town and need to get your poker fix like I did, I would definitely recommend checking out the Texas Card House.

  • Liem H

I play poker as a fun hobby. I played at the original Texas Card House which has more of a back of the bar poker home game. This new one at the North location has a casino vibe. Friendly, fast, professional dealer keep the action friendly and flowing. The staff is quick, efficient and actually dress up nice to keep up the vibe of the place. They have chip for play and tip chips, don't forget to get tip chips to take care of the dealers.

  • Sam Theyoung

If you'd like to just play holdem, you'll have to sit out 10 minutes of every hour so people can play bombpots. That's ridiculous. Lets throw a hand of big-0 in there too, why not? You are also paying for time sitting out.. tch, offer a regular holdem game, it's not too much to ask. Edit-It's clearly not texas texas holdem, and you do not offer games without. Perhaps if this room was still owned by poker players you'd understand.

  • Michael Tillman

Place is top notch, Asa one of mangers and is always making sure things are running smoothly and I see him spend quality time with the dealers to improve them often. I have tried other card places but feel that Texas Card House is the best one. They are also improving tournament play with bigger payout for 1 st place, so I'm excited to see how it continues to grow for the rest of the year.

  • Samuel Rosenbluth

I've been here a handful of times. It's good overall. The action is good. A big cost up front but if you stay and play a while you'll likely offset the cost because they do not charge rake. They charge an hourly fee. Most of the dealers are ok, but a few are slow and do not understand the games very well. The staff is decent overall. Also it's BYOB, so that's nice.

  • Robert Ventura

Somr of the dealers here don't run the game very well I saw a dealer take a pot to a losing player and had to b told by another player he was wrong I've seen the same cards dealt repeatedly I saw 5 Jack's over full houses 5 times in 30 minutes which tell me it's a bad shuffle it's clean and the players r good sports but I'm paying $10 per hour for very poor dealers

  • James (jcivfishing)

Play here regularly. 1/2 & 1/3 NLH tables going every day with good action on the tables. Tournaments going a couple nights a week also. Dealer choice table goes 3 or so nights a week, PLO and Big O occasionally if that's your game too. Room is nice, not the bingo hall feel of some others around the city. Professional staff and games.

  • catothewiser

While outside next to Discount Tire I saw some armed "security" guys standing around outside and spitting on the sidewalk. No matter how you try to dress up the place to look like it is some Supercuts it seems like like a bookie shop to me. I guess we just have open gambling in this state now? Sickening.

  • Poker Player reviews

Great room, action, and atmosphere. Everyone is professional. From dealers to management and even the players were welcoming and kind. There’s a variety of players and games. They have promotions on certain days. Tournaments are available as well as cash games. Thank you TCH for making poker more fun.

  • James Jones

Friendly staff, incredible multi-option coffee maker, pool tables, affordable snacks/food. Like any business they are there to make money, but they don't make you feel like it. By my second time there the floor and dealers knew me by name. Also, the action is good and the dealing is top notch.

  • John Zuniga

I wouldnt go to the establishment. Apparently the more you spend the more you move up in line. When you sign up for a membership just remember that anyone who camps out there and enters silver status automatically superceeds you. So you will wait based on how much money you spend there. Sham!

  • Stoops Noh

The management here goes above and beyond to provide a good customer experience. They actually care about the customers. Dealers are some of the better in town. Josh is the man. Not currently the biggest but probably the best place to play in Austin. The staff here is really good.

  • Rey Patriarca

I haven’t been back in awhile. Second night I was being verbally attacked by player. I didn’t react and dealer called floor . James controlled situation and it stopped quickly. Always players like that but many places don’t handle it professionally and correctly. Thank you staff.

  • Sapari Ang

The staff is very friendly, the players are much more aggressive to play with The floor handles complain and comments professionally, I normally goes to the lodge a lot but the manager are not as friendly as TCH I am now going to TCH all the time Keep up the good job Ang

  • Matt Z

0 Star i played here almost every day not 5 days a week and new rule, who ever play more hours get to go first. Mean you sitting waiting list and there is 2 people in front of you in 10 min might be 3 people and in 30 min more just sitting there no reason.

  • Roger Naughton

I've been here 3 times and really enjoyed it - despite slightly losing each time! As a more recreational player I've never felt uncomfortable with the games or players, but had a great laugh every time! Great staff, player pools, and atmosphere.

  • Ryan Gallegos

My first trip to Texas Card House was a great experience. The Location and actual room have a cozy feeling and playing is very comfortable. I played 1-2 NLH with bomb pots. I was skeptical at first but the bomb pots turned out to add

  • Yash Sabharwal

My recent experience at TCH North Austin was a very pleasant surprise. Nicely appointed interior with lots of TVs so you can watch football or other favorite sport while playing poker. Looking forward to spending more time there!

  • Matthew McConnell

Great room! Moved from New England and i’m so glad I found TCH in Austin! First thing you notice is the clean room and full tables. Varieties of cash games and tournaments. Highly recommend any day of the week!

  • P N

Stay away! A guy threatened me at the table... then the management throws me out (other guy was a regular) Many other better ran establishments in Austin - The lodge - Austin Poker palace

  • R R

$4 check-in fee? LOL. And those fake antlers all over the wall are awful. ATX Card House, Lodge and Austin Poker Palace are all less expensive and fun places to play poker.

  • glenn lonas

Best card house in Austin bar none. Most professional operation and a lot of variety and action in the games. Sets the example for how card houses should be run.

  • dextor11188

Very good poker action, from tournaments to cash. Not only are the dealers top notch, but the management at this place rocks! A must visit if you enjoy poker.

  • dchevron77

Good action, just a very small room that can get packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Would recommend putting your name on a list as soon as possible.

  • Chris McCoy

This place sucks. Atx card house and the Lodge are much much better. Avoid this place at all cost. Their free roll tournaments are not free roll.

  • Glenn Lonas

Awesome place to play poker!! Staff is professional and polite. Great atmosphere!! Ive been playing here for 2 years and will keep comimg back.

  • Leon K

You better watch out from this place they over charge the players and most of them don’t pay any attention. Unfortunately I was the victim.

  • Cheryl Spencer

Always has lots of cash games going on and good options for tournaments. Also has a live stream for cash and tournaments. Fun to watch!

  • Elliot Zink

Be careful of floor they made a player who is bluffing turn over their cards on live stream before they were called. Jdogg vs josh

  • Steve W

Professional house when the dealers don't constantly talk about bs. If some of them could shut up and deal it would be a 5 star

  • Andy Jones

Nice place, enjoyed playing here. No alcohol or table services but Saturdays they do have free "buffet" from dukes bbq.

  • Jesse Duncan

Amazing dealers. I was playing 1/2 however the game plays a bit larger. A lot of fun and action. Will be back for sure.

  • Adrian Soto

Never coming back to this place again. Customer services is horrible. Don’t waist your time coming to this place folks
