Thane City: A Mixed Bag of Charm and Frustration Thane offers a vibrant city life with excellent connectivity to Mumbai and a good mix of residential, commercial, and green spaces. However, some aspects need improvement. Positives: Livability: Thane boasts a good standard of living with affordable housing options, numerous parks and gardens, and a growing number of restaurants and shops. Connectivity: Thane is well-connected to Mumbai via trains, buses, and the Eastern Express Highway, making commuting relatively easy. Greenery: The city has several green spaces like Upvan Lake, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and Yeoor Hills, offering a welcome escape from the urban hustle. Entertainment: From buzzing malls and multiplexes to historical forts and temples, Thane provides diverse entertainment options for all ages. Negatives: Traffic: Thane suffers from severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. Ghodbunder Road, in particular, is notorious for its poor traffic management and frequent breakdowns. Infrastructure: While development is ongoing, some areas lack proper infrastructure, including adequate footpaths, drainage systems, and waste management facilities. Noise pollution: Traffic noise and honking can be disruptive, especially in crowded areas. Limited parking: Parking spaces are scarce in many parts of the city, making it challenging for car owners. Overall: Thane is a rapidly developing city with immense potential. While it offers a good quality of life and various amenities, addressing traffic issues, improving infrastructure, and controlling noise pollution are crucial for sustainable growth and a better living experience for residents.

Very Crowded place. An important railway station for inter-city trains n locals. Entire Thane area depends on this station for economical commute to distance places. Thane, often hailed as "Talyanche Shahar" or the City of Lakes, is a vibrant urban center nestled in the heart of Maharashtra. Renowned for its picturesque landscapes and numerous water bodies, Thane offers a tranquil escape from the bustling pace of Mumbai, its neighboring metropolitan counterpart. The epithet "City of Lakes" aptly captures the essence of Thane, as it boasts an impressive network of lakes such as Masunda Lake, Upvan Lake, and Talao Pali. Beyond its natural charm, Thane is a thriving cultural and economic hub. The city combines modern infrastructure with a rich historical legacy, evident in landmarks like the Thane Fort and Ambarnath Temple. Residential areas showcase a blend of contemporary amenities and green spaces, making it an attractive destination for residents. Thane's strategic location enhances its connectivity, with well-developed transportation links facilitating easy access to Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. The city's evolving skyline, marked by commercial complexes and residential towers, reflects its dynamic growth. Overall, Thane stands as a testament to harmonious coexistence between urban development and nature, offering residents and visitors alike a unique blend of serenity and progress.

One of the busiest stations of western railway more then 10 platforms there and trains from almost every where in India passes through it also it's announcement system is good also saparate lane for long route and Mumbai locals On the entry of platform 2 there are ticket counters and machines installed also u can get auto just out site of railway station. Also buses and other vehicles are available. Thane station is the key station that connects other parts of India to Mumbai also thane is little cheap then Mumbai there are thousands of people travel everyday Outside of the railway station you can find restaurants for breakfast and there are shops of fruits and vegetables and juices. A sharing auto rickshaw is also available. Lift and automatic stairs are only on platform 2 and need to install every platform. As the busiest station many times trains platform no. Changed at the last moment. If possible then reach at least 10-15 min before on your train timings.

Very Crowded place. Generally trains on Central line are not as per the schedule so this also creates a lot of trouble for public results into over crowded places. Although basic infrastructure is in place like other transport modes like buses, taxi and auto rickshaws but needs more maintenance management. Being one of the districts of Maharashtra this place is supposed to be crowded as it has all government offices, main markets etc. But local authorities/ railway must ensure necessary arrangements in place to avoid any casualties. My experience was very bad there, while reaching thane from Dadar was easy however on my way back the scheduled train was 15-20min late which resulted in an over crowd and hardly I could manage to get into the train.

I've visited Thane station since the past 30 years. I have seen it grow and become cleaner and become more organised over the years. Today it is one of the most important station in Mumbai. There can be quite a queue for basic facilities such as Autos on the West side or even on the east side. My advice is to talk up a bit further and take the autos from the road instead of the queue. Since the autos on the main road also don't want to wait for long and hence they drop their passengers outside the station and not inside the station.

  • दीप्त शर्मा

One of the major station on central line for both local as well as express. Well connected and spacious station. Heavy rush during peak hours. One of the most crowded station on central line. Here we can also find trains for Navi Mumbai. Public transport is also easily available here, well connected by auto, taxy, and buses. We can also find good eating place nearby during nighttime also. Not well managed, need uplifting and cleanliness. Best part is: it is historical station as first train in India ran between Bombay and Thane.
