Most staff are very helpful friendly. Especially Kiera who went above and beyond to help myself and my 94 yr old mother with her walking frame in from the car park with our luggage and up the 20 stairs needed to access our room. This was after her shift had ended on Anzac Day and therefore not getting paid for the extra time it took her to accommodate us. Kiera is 5 stars Rooms are clean and nice with coffee and tea making facilities Although no tissues or serviettes provided. Fridge door seal broken and mouldy. Needs replacing . Shared bathroom along hallway . Very clean and well appointed. Although only one communal shower mat. One bath mat per room would be a more hygienic option. The car park at the rear is in disrepair. Gravel , uneven , sloping with large gutter from water runoff . Further in is grass with very large mud to drive through to get to it. 4 x 4 recommended for that area. Rear gate to access rooms from carpark absolutely filthy. I mentioned this to the cleaner this needs cleaning. Her reply "it's only service entrance" . I reminded her that if entering rooms from carpark it is the main entrance. I watched her clean this area and ignore my request to clean door. On handing in my room key I once again mentioned to man behind bar that rear door/gate was filthy , that I had asked the cleaner to clean but it was still filthy. His reply " we encourage people to walk all the way around to the front entrance" . I explained that for my 94 yr old mother this is not a viable option , therefore it should be cleaned. His reply as he shrugged his shoulders " it is what it is", he didn't really give a toss. What it is, is absolutely filthy. And needs cleaning.

Just loved this place. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Room and bathroom clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the ambience of the pub and friendly locals. Meal service was quick and food delicious. Thankyou Anglers Rest for a delightful break. Have already recommended this to people we met on Riverboat Postman.

Arrived in Brooklyn for a weekend away with a few friends, First thing that sparked my concerns is when we were ordering food and the waitress taking our order said “ The chef thinks he is bouji” implying that the chef was a bad cook. Second thing was waiting 35 minutes for our food when we’re the only people in the bistro area. The locals of the area gave myself and my friends odd looks and was not very welcoming. The staff at the Anglers rest hotel was extremely rude and impolite. The food was dry and completely ice cold in the middle of our steaks and entrees. Our vegetables were burnt and was not edible. Shortly after eating at the hotel, my friends and I experienced food poisoning. The hotel was extremely over priced and took advantage that they were the only place to get food at 6pm. Would not recommend going here at all. Very sketchy place and unwelcoming.

A cheerful 19th century motel, with a nice view of you're facing the river. 5 stars as this was the cleanest motel I've stayed at, and lovely staff. It's basic, just a room with ac and shared bathrooms but clean, very clean, and comfortable. So for the price and location it's a five stars, just doesn't expect any cute art or anything really in the motel part. Motel ppl, pls out up something, anything in the motel area, a bookshelf, a local painting, a historical sign about what used to go on here 200 years ago, I'm sure there is a lot of interesting history! It's right above the pub but I couldn't hear any noise at all from downstairs. Location: it's right at the train station and ferry Wharf, so excellent place to stay overnight for an adventure outing the next am, or as a pit stop on the great northern walk.

This has to be the most horrible place I’ve ever eaten! Paid a high price for seafood basket which was soggy and devoid of condiments. When asked for lemon and tartare the waitress said I’ll bring you some more. There was none in the first place!!! Annoying. eventually lemon and tartare was supplied by being slammed down on the table. The waiters don’t even know their menu. When asked about the desert menu, they couldn’t describe the items. I do not recommend anyone come here to eat it’s beyond a joke!! No staff I the bottle shop to buy wine. Missing in action. Appreciate we need a COVID Marshall and. He did a great job. Just DON’T eat there.

Probably the worst dinning experience I've ever had! I ordered the seafood plate which consisted of tiger prawns which were watery and tasteless oysters which were not fresh but to top it off there was no Moreton bay bug as advertised and was the only reason I ordered the meal in the first place, instead I received calamari rings. When I asked the waitress were the bug was she replied "oh sorry we don't have any left", which would have been nice to know when I was ordering the meal so I asked to speak to the chief she said I'll go and get him she returned minutes later saying the chief was to busy to come and talk to me (coward) so in summary don't waste your time and money at this sub par restaurant!

Older classic pub with accommodation amenities and a maritime village atmosphere. Had a fabulous seafood luncheon with a group of friends. Food pub fare and service were excellent across the board at reasonable prices. In general it offers a great choice of ice cold beers from boutique to older brews with friendly helpful bar staff and a great mix of wines from every day to some vintage. Close to transport 2minutes to Train/Bus and water access nice park's nearby and not far to watersedge view's

I'd never been to this part of Sydney. And found myself at this absolute cracker of a place. It's delightfully weird. It has the vibe of the cool pub in a remote town. And it nails it. The food and the staff at the restaurant is what got me. A flippin GEM of a place. The locals are a loveable zoo. I had a truly fabulous evening....and um....stayed a bit too long if you get my drift.

Glad for making a spontaneous visit to The Anglers Rest. Great little spot to leisurely while away your lunch and enjoy the sun. Hospitable and efficient team, both in the bar and restaurant. Tables fill quickly on the deck, especially on a sunny day like we had, so expect a short wait or to ask if you can share tables with smaller groups. Look for the blackboard menus and take a pic to decide on your meal. We both opted for the seafood plate, and thoroughly enjoyed the freshness, quality, and generous portions. Worth the visit and a great way to see this lovely riverside village.

I wanted a place to meet my inlaws between Sydney and Tumbi Umbi and landed on this place. While the pictures showed a semi-modern place, the actual establishment was far from modern. It was giving 80s vibes. We went for dinner and on arrival 3 out of 4 of us wanted the Pork Loin.. they didn't have any.. We opted for 3 x schnitzels and 1 x steak. all of it was very below average. The total cost was $160.00 and was not worth the cost. Will not be returning. on the upside. the service was great and the people serving were lovely.

Screwed up our order then blamed us for the mistake saying '"that's what's written on the paper so you're wrong" medium rare and medium are very different so how about you listen when taking orders girls. Food incredibly overpriced for the quality if I was buying it in the cbd of Sydney. Nearly 40 dollars for a rump steak then 2 dollars if you want to add gravy (which they didn't ask if I wanted to do) I expect better from a small country town. If you're forced to go here get a burger that was edible.

Friendly staff, layed back atmosphere, beautiful big meals and nice and tidy rooms. If you're after place to lay your head after a busy day out about the Hawkesbury this is the perfect place to to stay if you don't mind shared toilets and showers. For the price you can't go wrong. A TV in the room would have been nice as I usually fall asleep with it on but that's my only complaint. Definitely would stay again.

I have fond memories coming to the Anglers Rest back in the 80's every 3 months for work functions. We use to get on the train from Epping and stay until the last train left Brooklyn to go back to Epping. The funny thing is, 30 years later, we find ourselves living just up the road and this is now our local. The beer garden area is a chilled spot. The restaurant could be so much better though. Have found the food to be very greasy at times but outside of that, its not a bad spot.

  • stephanie green

Extremely disappointing. They say on google they are meant to open until 6.30pm. Beautiful Saturday afternoon at 5.30pm and we made the 40min drive with a one year old to find out its closed. I can't tell you how frustrating this was for my family. Made the 40min drive home with a hungry screaming child. I wouldn't cone here again and I'm definitely not recommending this place to my friends. You actually made our afternoon Extremely difficult.

Lovely small town pub full of friendly staff & Patrons. Food is phenomenal I especially recommend the BBQ meatlovers pizza it is topped extremely generously with all sorts of goodies & the jalapeños are a nice touch! Be careful about the locals as they may make you stay till close with their friendliness If you're passing through Brooklyn you've gotta stop here !

Just over an hours drive from Sydney by the Hawkesbury River, the pub here is a great Sunday lunch outing to get away from the city. The service is quick, food well cooked and at a good price! A great local spot for catch up with friends or family! The area outside the toilets could be better! :) other than that, outside area in particular is a lovely spot :)

Great location in desperate need a refurb. Food was below average & overpriced. Steak comes with chips but is devoid of any salad. Garlic bread was over cooked & no real options if you are looking for pub food. Sausages, steak, $25 Schnitzel or Tandoori pizza. No burgers in sight. Toilets doors are locked, once you obtain access they are full of hornets and missing toilet paper.....

Nice pub and atmosphere on a lazy Sunday afternoon, but seriously.... Pub food is meant to be wholesome, tasty and generous portioned, very disappointing $35 for steak and chips with a small salad and you have to pay an extra $4 for sause. Steak was a sirloin small portion chips very average and salad was dismal, I can see from alot of the reviews they feel the same, time for a change guys

I've been a bit wary lately when I see a rating of 4 stars or better as quite often it doesn't really match the food. In this case we were very happy with our food. The pie and mash were very tasty with a succulent pie and silky smooth mash. The king prawns with chips and salad were spot on with lightly crumbed fresh prawns, perfectly cooked chips and a fresh salad. We were glad we took the time to eat here.

  • Dave Martin

This has been my local since March 2019. It's a solid, good ol' Aussie pub. Outside of COVID-19 it has some of the best live entertainment around. The food goes beyond your typical Aussie fare (some of the freshest seafood around). I had my 60th there and I plan on having my 70th and 80th there as well. On ya Geoff and team :)

Not worth the drive. A very limited, overpriced menu with food that takes an eon to get - even though it was not overly busy. Ordered a prawn and avocado salad, 5 prawns and qtr of an avocado for $26 served on a bed of lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes. I have no objection to paying for a good meal, but this was a very, very ordinary meal that would be okay for $10 not $26.

I asked where my salad bowl was and they promptly got me one. If you can’t get a schnizty right there’s not much hope. Very disappointing.

No vegetarian or vegan options, and a kitchen that is continually struggling to get food to customers in a timely fashion. Two visits, and twice I've been told they have 'run out of pasta', with the only alternative being a $30 plate of roast pumpkin. Overpriced, understaffed and out of their depth.

This is my go-to brunch/lunch stop at the end of the Cowan to Brooklyn hike. It's a really nice pub with a big outside area and great food in Brooklyn. Stayed here after a day of hiking the GNW. As a place to sleep, it was fine. The room rate was unbelievably cheap. The trade off is that it is a pub and is, therefore, quite loud. To be fair, the drunken screaming and music did die down around 10:30pm and I got a reasonable amount of sleep. Pretty basic but clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Great local pub with a variety of menu items and plenty of fresh seafood options. Friendly and quick service and everything reasonably priced (except the salads) with mains from $18 -$25.
