We went in on a Saturday night for dinner and it was a very relaxed atmosphere that is self serve bar & food. The current restaurant is blue oak bbq and the food was delicious! We split the pub double burger (herb mayo on the side) and the spicy chicken sandwich (pub aioli on the side). That spicy chicken sandwich had great flavor and the perfect amount of kick to it! Both mayo and aioli where really good even for the non mayo guy who made us put it on the side in the first place. We also had Guinness at the pub and I had tried the Irish frozen coffee. The atmosphere has an Irish pub feel to it with the dark wood, mirrors and all sorts of oddities and tchotchkes to look at. There is also a cute train that circles the bar.

Vegetarian options
For a bbq spot, they do have a few vegetarian options between the fish sandwich & tacos, Brussels sprouts, salad, & not a caprese. Doesn’t seem like a lot but this is a limited menu as well. I am not a vegetarian, so I was not paying too much attention to this, but looking back at the menu, they all seem like good options.

Glad to see the Avenue Pub revived and still around. Sadly, the 24 hour service is gone (for now anyway) and the dusty inside is cleaned up in favor of a welcoming environment for all. I can't be too mad about that since it's still around to serve up a fantastic frosty beer and tasty grub. I love the new menu, sharing some nods from Blue Oak BBQ (who now own the joint.) While I didn't eat anything I can't wait to return to try the Louisiana Dip - drool! Love the outdoor balcony too overlooking St. Charles. Just look at it all decked out for Carnival season! Also love the touch of the toy streetcar making the rounds above you which always reminds you to check that schedule if you've overstayed your limit and need to scoot! No trip to New Orleans is complete without a stop here and I'm so glad it's still around for all to enjoy!

This is such a wonderful place. Do not pass up the opportunity to try the food. This is not your typical bar food. Clay and the rest of the kitchen staff are incredible. Every plate is obviously made with care. They have an impressive variety of beers on tap. Their evening bartenders are efficient and clearly hardworking. The mezcal smokey is a must try. This may have become my favorite bar in the city. They even do trivia on Tuesday nights. The Avenue Pub is a fantastic place to meet with friends, have drinks, or even just go for brunch or dinner.

My party was visiting New Orleans from Texas. The first place we saw near our hotel was the Avenue Pub. It must have been divine intervention. They were just starting trivia night, so we signed up. It was loads of fun. I ordered the chicken poppers which were the largest chicken poppers I have ever seen. They were super tasty and we ended up going back several more times during our trip. The staff gave us lots of recommendations for fun stuff to do while in town. We will definitely visit the Avenue Pub again.

Have to tell you guys this place was awesome one of our favorite places to visit. They have three different sections you can kind of consider a downstairs and upstairs and outside even in the upstairs has a balcony, just beautiful...the food was great! the choices of drinks here are just unbelievable they have such a huge list of liquors, and we actually went back two more times on our trip. The only thing was it was a little warm, but the whole state is right :), and we didn't get to see the iconic train going around, which would have been a total bonus!

This place felt like I'd been here a hundred times. Surprisingly delicious food and a place I would come to again and again if I lived in town. Great service and a comprehensive selection of beers. Decor was fun and there's even a little train chugging around above you. Loved it.

Feels great to have the Avenue Pub back. Beer selection is great, and the new food options are phenomenal. Coupled with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, it’s always a good choice for a drink and a bite. Great happy hour as well. Already looking forward to coming back.

GREAT local flavor and pub setting. Try the blood orange Old Fashion please. The bar's got some magic goin' on. The Toast Aux Champignon is a specialty for a very good reason and if you're stuck on which grilled cheese to order…Get the one with the pear... yep...spicy pear. It changed me. WONDERFUL service, very cool folks made superb recommendations. The whole menu looked good. I can't wait to go back.

Stumbled upon this great spot while walking around in the garden district. The food was awesome, atmosphere was great and prices are super reasonable. Seemed like a very chill local crowd. Pro tip: order drinks at the bar and order food at the separate counter in the back.

Really loved this place. Atmosphere was fun and different. Food was delicious and so were the drinks. It was super clean and the bartenders were so busy but we’re getting the drinks out so fast. The upstairs balcony was so relaxing even in the heat. They have fans so it was cooling.

Food by Blue Oak BBQ. Lemon pepper wings (which I don't normally care for) are the pinnacle of chicken wings. Chili glazed brussel sprouts nearly started a fight among those sharing. Nice selection of beer, great atmosphere.

This place was great. We came here and the staff was supremely friendly. We got there and their kitchen was getting ready to closed and they got us in quickly to order. They really saved our night. Their food was delicious and like I said they were attentive. Would go here again when we decide to visit NOLA again in the future.

Saint Charles bar akin to the Magazine St. Bulldog. Strong selection of draft beer and spirits. Well-placed TVs and lots of seating area inside, some tables out front as well. Bartender was okay. Food was okay and cooked fresh. The braised-pork sandwich was definitely not a knock-out. I will be back to try more of their beers.

I love coming to this place. Kenny, Tim & all the bartenders here are great and knowledgeable. One of the best places to watch sports, especially if you love Premier League games on Saturday mornings!

A New Orleans institution with an eclectic craft beer selection. The new menu by Blue Oak BBQ is just what this bar needed. Also, a fantastic place to watch sports including Premier League matches.

Good mix of drinks and food. It's a decent place to hang out with friends and get something small to eat. Wish there were fewer greasy food options. The service, though, is very friendly.

Great selection of beers and some amazing pub food as well (get the loaded tots). Really nice atmosphere, something that was very hard to find in the French Quarter. Spent a decent evening here and would recommend to anyone wanting something more 'local' and chilled out

  • Ryan Ibarra

So I came out to watch the Mardi Gras parades, but was staying just outside the French Quarter. Been there, done that so I figured I would head towards the Garden District area to catch the parades. Boy was I happy to find this sweet bar in

  • Sans Savant

Beer selection was great especially the amount of local and Louisiana beers. Sadly, the food not so much. Not sure when they changed their menu, or if Blue Oak changes what they offer regularly, or maybe it depends on who is in the kitchen,

  • Charlie Johnson

This was for new years eve. They had an excellent chill and classic bar atmosphere. The bartender knew the orders and was great at mixing. The view of the fireworks on the river was not great.

Best neighborhood bar in New Orleans. Great beer and bourbon selection, food is also awesome. They also have a really good Kentucky Mule that uses a local companies ginger beer(HuHu's) and it definitely tastes very ginger-y.

  • lostprairiedog

Good beers on tap, delicious dry-aged beef on the burgers and phenomenal "Dump Truck" fries with pulled pork, bacon and jalapenos. Friendly staff as well. Only place in town that you can drink Attacus Atlas, AFAIK.

  • Chris Andrews

Beer was great. Taps kept in great shape. Food was good, especially for bar food. Fries are basically poutine. Not my favorite, butt they were out of mussels. Bartenders were nice, too!

  • Melissa Pate

Mmm the grilled cheese with goat cheese was so yummy! There are a few other things I want to go back and try! It’s a bar, but it has a nice ambiance and location and the staff was nice.

For a James Beard nominated bar program, the Ave Pub is very relaxing, with great staff and a casual atmosphere. Excellent bar food on the St Charles car line. More

  • Jennifer Rinehart

Drinks and food were delicious! We had the shrimp tacos and the Pub double burger. I had a frozen Irish coffee which was delicious!
