One of my family’s longtime favourite spots in the Sugarhouse area, the Dodo has an incredible selection of dishes and desserts that are all delectable. This trip, I had the Herbed Chicken Pasta for my main course. The sauce was perfectly creamy and the ration of chicken/sauce/pasta was on point - it’s the worst when there isn’t enough chicken to compliment the pasta, but you will never run into that problem at The Dodo! This entree came with a choice of soup or salad before the main meal and I selected their house salad. I do not know what they put on that salad, but I could eat bowls and bowls of it! The dressing is light with a hint of lemon and is perfectly tossed in the greens. The slivered almonds add the perfect amount of crunch. Some other favourite menu items include the Smoked Turkey Sandwich, the Barbecue Beef Sandwich, the Chicken Enchiladas, and the Pulled Pork Quesadilla! And for the little ones, the Garlic Buttered Pasta is always a hit. No dinner at The Dodo is complete without a slice of one of their house-made pies! A family favourite is the Banana Cream Cheese Pie - creamy, perfectly baked cheesecake in a graham pie crush, with banana pudding and sliced bananas piled high on top - a dollop of whipped cream is the cherry on top of this mouth watering monstrosity of a pie. (We visited on St. Patrick’s day, so our whipped cream was dyed green for a bit of festive flair!) The caramel sauce that they pair with the pie is warm and delicious and helps make the dessert the highlight of the meal. One slice can EASILY be shared with three people - two if you’re extra hungry If we visit The Dodo with a larger party and want to purchase another slice of pie, the Tollhouse Pie is another favourite. Cookie dough dreams are made of this! If you haven’t stopped by The Dodo yet, then it’s an absolute must - especially if you live in the area! It’s incredible food, excellent service/waitstaff, and beautiful location should not be missed! My family has been enjoying this spot for decades and never fail to be impressed.

So, I've been here several times, but for some reason my last visit opened my eyes to view this place in a different light. Location is great, service is wonderful, but the quality and selection of food and cocktails is a tad... off. The cocktail menu had The Dodo's version of $14-$16 dollar crafted cocktails, but, the selection of ingredients that comprised the cocktail made them taste quite awful. I ordered the "Lounge's Lemonade," because that was really the only thing that sounded somewhat appealing (based on the ingredients), even though I was taken aback by what the ingredients called for. Whenever I tried the "Lounges Lemonade," there was not even an ounce of taste of lemon or citrus. The drink should have been named "berry creamsicle," because that's exactly what it tasted like. haha. Maybe their use of vanilla vodka shouldn't be mixed in a drink titled "lemonade." I ordered the filet mignon, and the steak was wonderfully cooked to my specification, but the mashed potatoes were flavorless. Consistency was great, but... flavorless for a $36-37 dollar entrée. The vegetable medley was... average.. I also had the caesar salad with the entree, and it was also average. The lettuce was so dry, deprived of caesar dressing, I had to ask for more.. What peaks my interest though, is the middle-school-aged Dodo mural. To be somewhat of a 'premium' establishment selling their own versions of refined and gourmet cocktails, the Dodo mural just seems to be a tad.. adolescent? These are just my thoughts. All-in-all, a façade of premium dining experience.

I've eaten at The Dodo several times and have greatly enjoyed each visit. It is not a canned/corporately controlled dining experience like you run into eating at chain restaurants. The employees are very friendly and the service is great. Portions of food are generous and if you leave hungry it is your own fault! The food has been fantastic and a slice of pie for dessert is a must. (Get dessert to go if your meal filled you to the brim.) During my last visit some of the people in our group who were there for the first time commented that the pie was the best they've ever had. Avoid the Toll House pie if you don't like walnuts. Price-wise it's a bit spendy, but the flavor and quality of the food is worth the price even if your budget may only allow for it a few times a year. My only critique is that because it is often very busy, the restaurant gets quite noisy and it's hard to have good conversation particularly if you're in a larger group. If you're there with a date or a few other people you should do fine though. Despite being so consistently busy though, they do an excellent job keeping the establishment clean and shiny. Definitely give them a try - few if any will be disappointed.

We absolutely loved our experience at the Dodo. The food was excellent, the service was top notch, atmosphere was great (but a little chilly), facilities were very nice and clean. I wish they took reservations but the wait wasn't terrible. They told us it would be a 70 minute wait and it ended up being closer to 45 minutes. Not ideal but not the end of the world. We were told weekends are crazy busy so we went on a Tuesday night for dinner. I've listed what we got and what we rated the dishes out of 5 stars: 1. Artichoke Dip Appetizer ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Worth every penny. Absolutely delicious 2. Blueberry Parmesan Halibut ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very yummy but not worth $36.99 3. Ravioli ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Surprisingly the asparagus in the Ravioli is what really made this dish shine and the tomato basil cream sauce was fantastic! 4. Cajun Seafood Soup ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Flavor wise it was delicious with just the right amount of spice but for $5.99 the portion size is definitely lacking. 5. Blueberry Sour Cream Pie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(+) This Pie was the star of the meal! Even though we were stuffed we couldn't help taking more bites of this pie!

I enjoyed everything about the food here. The options we selected must have been made for us because they were perfect! Pasta is not usually something I enjoy, but it was recommended by the waiter as a special. I am always more than happy to try recommendations and I'm glad I did. The avocado pasta was so flavorful and was a great texture combination. Not overly starchy like some places. However, I would marry the baker of their deserts in a heartbeat. Lol! I've never had anything ever taste to good. Blueberry sour cream pie sounded odd, but looked amazing. I tried it and I didn't leave disappointed at all. Best thing I've ever tasted to be honest. I would love to come again. It's a bit pricey for my regular budget, but I would fit it in when I could due to the taste. I'd come more often if the prices were a little lower, but the quality is there. Thank you for the amazing food.

This used to be mine and my wife's go to place. We love the food, the atmosphere and the location. Unfortunately in 3 years time prices have just about doubled for the same exact food, and we feel like they nickel and dime us a bit. The turkey sandwich which comes with BBQ dipping sauce used to be 10.99 came with Salad or soup. Now 19.99 for dinner and 18.99 for lunch. The waiter will ask if you want cheese, bacon and avocado (be aware those are all extra individually). A $20 turkey sandwich turns into a $26 sandwich quickly. I understand prices have gone up for every restaurant but $20 for a turkey sandwich with bread and sliced turkey... this place should be 3 money signs at least. They are doing something right because it is always very crowded in there. My wife and I went for lunch, got turkey sandwiches and a slice of pie. With 20% tip it was $80.

Two of us ordered the same side salads but ended up getting two salads completely different from each other. The waitress never returned so we ended up eating them. Ordered the Ahi Medallion appetizer and someone decided to sprinkle wasabi on part of the plate rather than constrain it to the standard wasabi bowl. I would hope this was a mistake and not their standard presentation. Anyway, made for some very unpleasant bites. The interior mountain of rice contained dry, overcooked kernels. I originally wanted the Ahi steak entree but apparently it is no longer available and Dodo doesn't update their Google information very often. I would strongly advise going to Dodo's website and pulling up their menu to get the latest information. Finally for dessert I ordered their coconut caramel coffee cake. Their idea of caramel isn't my idea of caramel. It was more like heated maple syrup, and a lot of it. The cake was sitting in the syrup sauce and got soggy. I didn't finish it.

Maybe my expectations were a bit too high since it was recommended by so many friends, but the food was actually pretty bad, in my opinion. The service and atmosphere were both great (no complains there whatsoever), and I loved that they had a a big parking lot in the back but that was about it. I ordered the Stacked Polenta and somehow it didn't even taste like polenta. It had way too much gorgonzola cheese, which overpowered everything else and the hash browns were dripping in oil. I also ordered the Brie with Fruit appetizer but they barely melted the brie cheese, and instantly put it right on top of the cold fruit, which made the fruit soggy and the cheese cold and hard. My husband ordered the French Dip and was also disappointed with his dish. My kids were pretty happy with their pancakes so maybe that's their specialty, but I wouldn't venture on other menu items.

My mom and I occasionally come here for dinner. Vixyn was our most recent server, and they were fantastic! They were ready to share their suggestions for dinner and dessert, as well as made sure we were well taken care of all evening. The Dodo generally is pretty good but not a place I frequent. I always forget how noisy it is to sit inside (though I've never sat outside), so prepare for that. I end up having to shout to be heard and lean in closely to hear my dinner partner. The food is good, but pricey for the quality.

Our server was great. The atmosphere wonderful. The food? Well... The burger tasted alright, but it was incredibly small. I was actually shocked that they can charge 18 bucks for a super small sandwich. The highlight was the soup. We had white bean jalapeno bacon and it was absolutely stellar. I could eat that all day. It was wonderfully salty with great textures. Highly recommended soup. The iced tea was super tasty too. My wife had the shrimp salad sandwich, which she said tasted wholly like mayonnaise and celery. Not so wonderful. We did like the complimentary muffins. That was a welcome touch. Recommended for lunch, only if you have a snacky appetite. Don't expect American style servings

I have always been a fan of The Dodo. It seems like every time I go I always leave being glad that I went. It’s never a bad idea to start with the Baked Cream Cheese and Cracker unless it means you won’t have room for dessert. You can’t go wrong with the Cobb Salad or the Beef Stroganoff. Those are my favorite entree but they are a close second compared to some of the desserts they offer. I used to stick to the Coconut Caramel Coffee Cake but I’ve branched our recently and tried the Key Lime Pie, the Tollhouse Pie and a few others. But, I have to say that my favorite dessert on the menu is the Banana Cream Cheese Pie with a scoop of ice cream and covered in their caramel sauce. Whichever dessert you go for just know that they tend to sell out of the more popular ones by the end of the night...especially on weekends.

Absolutely delicious! Fresh and creative menu. We tried the Baked Cream Cheese for an appetizer. The warm, sesame-crusted cream cheese was the perfect pairing for the Asian pears and the crisp apples. We shared the Pulled Pork Quesadilla which was flavorful and big enough for 2. We had to save room for dessert. Normally, we split a dessert, but there were too many yummy looking choices. We got the Banana Cream Cheese Pie and the Chocolate Raspberry Mousse. Both were creamy perfection. Our server Mike was the best server we've had in years. He was knowledgeable about the menu. He was also friendly and just the right amount of attentive.

I’m always looking for an excuse to eat here! It’s my go-to place to celebrate any occasion and a place I like to take people to when they visit. I almost always get the dirty bird salad with all the toppings (a special not found on the menu) or I will try one of the specials they have that night. Salads aren’t something I normally order when eating out but this one is my absolute FAVORITE!! If you’re looking for something heavier, the Cajun chicken Alfredo is always a winner. The pies here are super yummy and they give you a nice big slice that is perfect for sharing. The dodo is a great spot for a nice date night out!

This is a wonderful little place to sit down for lunch or dinner or just a slice of pie. Fantastic service from everybody (even the host who was brand new). The entire staff was happy, upbeat, friendly, and had their own recommendations from the menu. All of the food was awesome, but don't leave this place without dessert. The only comparison of their dessert that I have is desserts that I've had walking the streets of Paris. Perfect little restaurant with awesome vibes. Classy, yet down to earth. Don't hesitate trying this place. You will not be disappointed.

We have always loved The Dodo and would normally give it a 5 star. This particular visit was horrible! Prices keep increasing while service and food quality are decreasing. The Turkey sandwich is usually a must order for me. This time the Turkey was disgusting and strange looking. I pulled most of it out. It was empty when we arrived, we were told 10-15 min. 30 min later we had to go ask if our table was getting close, it was obvious they had forgotten about us and scrambled to get a table for us, which was dirty when we got there, water puddles all over the chairs. Total let down. We paid $75 for a less than desirable meal.

I had never been to the Dodo Restaurant before so I really didn't know what to expect. It was Pride day in Salt Lake City, and I had met some new post Mormon friends and we attended the parade together. Then a very kind member of our parade going party offered to buy us breakfast and this is where we ended up. The food was superb. The waiter was amazing! We got to eat outside which was nice. It was also my first alcoholic drink since I left the church in November 2002. I only took a couple of sips because I didn't want to get drunk in front of my new friends!

The food here is very fresh and very tasty! The desserts are so yummy!! The dessert menu partially changes each day so make sure to ask. The atmosphere is good, it is just very loud in there. Seems like most restaurants have that problem. Other than that, I like the atmosphere... lighting, layout, etc.

The service and location/ambience made up for what my food lacked. I ordered the Asian chicken pasta. It was just ok. It needed more veggies with it, instead of just a garnish of veggies. And I asked for more sauce because it was just kind of boring. I wish I had ordered the crab & avocado grilled cheese special. Luckily, our server Mary Kate was phenomenal and did everything she could to make it better and gave us a free dessert. We chose the butterfinger cheesecake. It was different than what we were expecting, but still yummy. My side soup (red pepper sea food), though, was fantastic.

Good food, good atmosphere. The server was friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. There was no dessert menu. Our server gave us the options. We got two slices of pie/cake. When the bill came: $12 per slice. Had we known this would be the price tag PER SLICE, we'd likely have gotten only one order of dessert, not two; or maybe even passed on any at all. Little excessive, fellas. Please consider posting your dessert prices somewhere. That left a bad taste in my mouth.

The Dodo is my new fav spot in Salt Lake. I have never had such amazing service from a restaurant before, our server Mary Kate was absolutely incredible, she was exceptionally kind, personable, and professional. She made us feel cared for and never rushed. The food was delicious, we ordered the ahi medallions, and the cajun chicken alfredo. For dessert we took home a slice of the banana cream cheese pie and wish we would have got another slice! The warm caramel sauce is divine!

Hi, Thanks to my friend who picked this place. Sean- the person who took our order is amazing, polite and gave genuine suggestions as this is our first time to this place. I loved the service, delicious food but one thing I want to suggest is, can you please make a change to replace Styrofoam take out containers with anything more environmental friendly? I even avoided to order a dessert because I have to take it a Togo and that container is made up of Styrofoam. I felt bad that a restaurant which looks like an upscale restaurant is also using Styrofoam containers that a common Chinese restaurants or places that offer food at low prices.

This past weekend I was in Salt Lake, visiting friends and family. The Dodo restaurant is always one of my favorites. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. I really want to give Addy a shout out, she was very attentive, and friendly. One of our family members was late and we sat at our table a little too long for a Sunday morning. She was very understanding, and made an impression on us. I highly recommend this restaurant, and hope that you are fortunate to have Addy as your server.

This is a regular spot for us. Good, reliable, and has specials to mix things up. I’m not a desert person but this is a place to have one if you do. The service is always good. They have a good mixed drink and beer menu. Prices are on the higher side, that’s the only negative. The patio is the best in late spring and early fall. Can get hot in summer. Favorite is the club sandwich with pickles and mustard. Prices have gone up along with it’s popularity just wish the portion size matched the price.

The Dodos food never disappoints. We always get the Turkey sandwich with swiss cheese. It's delicious! The price has steadily gone up so that we can no longer afford their delicious desserts, but at least the size and quality of the sandwich has not gone down like so many other places. The only downside of dining at the Dodo is that it's so loud it's impossible to carry on a conversation.

The Dodo has been a great place for great food for a long time. It is a culinary landmark in Sugarhouse. The service is always outstanding and the staff is friendly. It gets busy. Be patient - it is worth the wait. On this occasion, we got the baked cream cheese and crackers and the shrimp carbonara. My best advice is this - always save room for dessert. There are usually about 20 to try.

New pot of coffee with glasses of water. Steve did a great job keeping our coffee topped out. We had the Chicken Salad sandwich with a salad and house dressing. Which was tasty by the way. Also a Spinach Omelette was had, Hash browns a little crispy, I didn't ask for them that way but like them that way much better. They were slightly greasy but very good just the same. As well as the Pancake that came with it was delicious and perfect.. We also got the French dip special which is always a tasty treat, but we got that for someone else, to go .

A friend suggested the Dodo to me and after checking out their menu online we decided to give it a try. The food was delicious! I highly recommend stopping here. We were so full by the end that we didn't have room for dessert. So, we have plans to return just for dessert because all of the dessert that passed by us looked amazing! The restaurant was a bit loud for a date night, but we still had lots of fun.

We have been coming to the Dodo for years and years and have loved it every time and it’s been amazing every time. But they have had a HUGE increase in the prices! They want $17.99 now for the appetizer, Artichoke Pie! My half salad was $24.99 and then I was asked if I would like cheese, bacon and avocado on it and that was another $6. A piece of pie to go was $12. Dinner for 4 with a tip and no drinks came to $200. Sadly, not worth it.

This place is just incredible. I have been twice in the past three days and have loved everything. The service provided by Mike was perfect and the food starting from the soups to entree are just amazing. I highly recommend asking about the specials that they have nightly. I had soups both times and they were in the top 10 I’ve ever had for sure. The unfortunate thing is they are known for their deserts but we were too full from the appetizers and entree. Make sure you stop by and give it a try and ask for Mike.

Mmmm, great place. Baked cream cheese and crackers- dynamite. Tuna melt- spectacular. Shrimp salad sandwich- amazing. We also got a bowl of asparagus seafood chowder and pork pasole. The only bad thing here is the parking… hard to find one. The food and service is great though. I think it’s a bit on the pricey side, but the food is good quality so it’s worth the extra $$.

We love the Dodo and have been coming for years. But we think we have come for dinner for the last time. The prices have escalated to the point of ridiculous. Regular size Cobb salad is now $21 and the special salmon was $35? Desserts are now $12. I get costs have gone up but we don’t have another restaurant we frequent that has gone up like that. He wasn’t helpful with selecting options, on top of our drinks, checked in often, and constantly clearing empty plates/trash away. We never needed anything because he was on top of it! The food we chose was incredibly satisfying and delicious. I hope we’re able to go back again soon!

The dodo is consistently delicious, and their specials are fantastic. Service is great, and the environment is nice. There are so many options, and any meal (breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner) is guaranteed win. That said, I think they know their food is a 8 or 9 out of 10 every time, because they charge accordingly.

I want to be clear. The food here is good. We have been coming here for years. There is nothing inherently wrong with the restaurant. I am giving this place 2 stars because I am very disappointed in the prices. This place charges $20 for a turkey sand-which, That is insane. They charged me $36 for a pasta, also insane.

Great place and food to come with family or friends. The atmosphere is nice and the staff are friendly. It does get busy so come early and make a reservation. The menu offers so many choices to pick from and you’ll find something delicious. Loved everything I tried and will be back! There’s parking behind the restaurant but gets crowded fast

Can't say enough good about our visit! Decorated so nicely for Christmas!! We had the crackers and cream cheese appetizer! Yum! Sis and I both had a French dip special... Delish!! Cream of mushroom had a little kick (spicy). Looking forward to going back again!

Jalapeno potato bacon soup. If they have it on the daily special, get it. Holy yum. I also loved the chilled Asian chicken and noodles. All very good. Our server was very busy, but did a great job tending to our needs. The crowd there was very loud so we had to shout to each other across the table to be heard. I think we'll try the outdoor seating next time which should fix that. This is a new favorite for my wife and me both. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit with The Dodo. We're looking forward to many more! The staff was friendly, but chill. Our server was amazingly attentive. The atmosphere is happy-go-lucky. We shared the artichoke pie (we started eating before I got that pic). That was delicious! I had the Spinach Mushroom Feta Quiche and my girl enjoyed the beef stroganoff. We recommend both!

I've heard about this place many times and finally decided to try it out. I went for lunch and I'm not sure if their dinner menu differs, but lunch was delicious! I especially enjoyed the Cajun chicken Alfredo. Would go back to try some of their other options!

Went to brunch and it didn't disappoint! The muffins to start were a nice surprise and so delicious! We ordered the Dodo Breakfast, Corned Beef Breakfast and Kids Pancake Combo. Everything was excellent! Great service and ambiance too. And the views of Sugar House Park was the icing on the cake! Also, order the Toll House Pie.... It was yummy and delicious!

Came for lunch on Sunday, didn’t realize they were only serving from a limited brunch menu, but were still able to find some good salads. Definitely a busy place, waited about 25 minutes for a table. Food portions were huge and we received our food quickly. Everything was fresh and tasted good! Will have to come back another time to try the regular menu.

If you like food to actually taste good rather than be loaded with grease, eat here. We also had an awesome waiter that was conversational and gave excellent service. In addition to lunch, we ordered a bottle of Cava (Spanish wine similar to champagne) which was authentic and tasted just like the Cava in Spain. Highly recommend trying the pie here too.

I come here often. The food is always good and has a unique flair that blends flavors together well. The desserts are off the charts delicious, and you should try them all. My typical choices are French dip sandwich and one of the cream pies, usually banana cream.

Really enjoyed the veggie omelette at the Dodo! The Bloody Mary I had was delicious as well! Only giving 4 stars because our server was a bit slow and kept forgetting about our table. We had to ask over 3 times just to get a water. I know it was the weekend, but the orders came before the waters did…

The food tasted fine, the service was great (and they were busy). For the high price, the portions were pretty small. I got the ravioli, it was good, there were maybe 7 or 8 ravioli on the plate. If you're particularly hungry, you might look elsewhere.

This place was super amazing! Not only were the dishes tasty but their customer service was fabulous. I chose to come here on probably the worst day possible, Valentine's. Plus I had a party of 10! Husband, kids & grandkids. Yes the wait was 1hr & 20min but so worth it. A variety of delicious food to choose from, great portions, & Quinn was so attentive to my family's needs. I will definitely be coming back here!

Pass. Food is mediocre at best and prices are insane for what you get. My seafood chowder was mostly large tomato chunks, hardly any seafood. My BBQ Beef sandwich was blah. My wife’s soup was too salty, and my brother’s chicken Alfredo was just ok. $90. Service wasn’t great either.

I was skeptical about the baked cream cheese and crackers appetizer but WOW was it the best way to start the meal. Absolutely recommend it 10/10. I also had the garden sandwich which is fresh and filling but light and I tried my friends meal (she got the ravioli) and it was SO good. I would order all of the above again. Oh and the summertime spritz was the perfect beverage as well. Highly recommend this place

The Dodo is my favorite restaurant in SLC. I always stop here on any business trip. They have a solid menu of salads, steaks and seafood. Tonight is was the quiche. So good! Make sure you save room for pie… It’s the best in the city. My favorite is the Coconut Custard but all the choices are delicious!!

Been here multiple times and always leave satisfied. The specialty appetizer is pesto bruschetta right now and it was very tasty! I love the Asian chicken pasta (I prefer it served hot, then eat my leftovers chilled the next day) and my husband got the herbed chicken pasta. I thought his was seasoned a bit weird but he liked it! Yummy soups and the desserts are wonderful. Fun atmosphere as well.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambiance!! We went for lunch, there was no wait, even though the parking lot was full. Be aware that you may have some difficulty finding parking.

I have been to Dodo many times. An important life event happend here years ago. So we go there several times a year. But every time I get annoyed by how crowded and loud the restaurant is. I love their food and the quality of the dinners entree are high. But last time I went for the brunch and it was very disappointing. Also the wait time is always an issue.

  • Savannah O'Sickey

Have only had the pie which is fun & tasty to enjoy with a friend alongside a cup of coffee! Love all of the flavors to choose from. Most recently had the Tollhouse pie which is a warm chocolate chip cookie in pie form... yum. Can't speak for the every menu, but it doesn't really interest me.

Food and service was excellent. I had the Dodo club. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. They don't skimp on the portion size. The salad and house dressings was also very good even though it was lemony. My wife had the beef tips pasta and it was also very good the meat was tender and moist. Will definitely be going here again.
