Before I state my main complaint, I would like to point out that the school on its own is quite fine, good actually. If you are considering this school, I wouldn't recommend reading the comments here, since they all voice negatives (otherwise there is no point in writing them). Both the Rosinka and Krylatskoye campuses are great places for learning and making friends and whatever you look for in a school. My problem, however, is with some of the teaching staff. Let me just say that this school killed my love for Biology. The teacher was at times asking the entire class to come in during our free time in order to finish work that she didn't have time to give us. This teacher would get irrationally angry at the entire class for failing a test (something along the lines of that, at this point it's hard to remember specifics). When your ENTIRE CLASS fails a test, it's more likely to be your fault than theirs. There would have to be "proof of revision" before a test, which was ridiculous. You can't force students to revise. Revision is something that students do for themselves in order to ensure a good grade. Most of the time, I have no problem with revising on my own, but as soon as it becomes a mandatory art project (it was supposed to be a colorful spider diagram that would take me twice as long as actually revising) I lose the urge to even go to the subject. The worst part about this, however, is how she spoke with students. Most of the time, she would just speak down to students. All in all, we didn't even finish the entire syllabus for the year, and she had to add on points to our tests for things that we did not cover (something about stem cells). Keep in mind that this was TOP SET BIOLOGY. I'm sorry, but if literally, every other biology class has people that are less willing/able to do work, and still finish the entire year, you are quite a bad teacher. This is an extreme example of how teachers can be absolutely ridiculous in their behavior, but here are some more examples just to show that this isn't isolated: - On a one-week long trip, one of the staff that came with the class was acting a little informal with the students. Nothing wrong here, I appreciate when teachers treat students like peers. This behavior, however, would quickly change back to very strict almost randomly, switching back and forth. What might have been a joke earlier in the morning, he now found offensive. This is a little strange, but nothing more than annoying. - On another week-long trip, it was made clear by the teacher that to watch the soccer game on TV that night, that everyone had to tell him that they would watch the game. The other option was to go to sleep. Now, knowing basic English, meant that from this my friends and I understood 2 things: 1) If you want to watch the game, you have to tell him 2) if you want to go to sleep to your tents you could. Apparently, we were wrong. Since "everyone" said that they would watch the game, we weren't allowed to go to sleep, since we hadn't told him that we would do so. I found this a little strange but tried to explain to him that we understood his orders differently and that it must have been a bit of a misunderstanding. He then proceeds to tell me that I "Will be punished" if I talk back to him, and we were forced to sit at the back of the room (open area, really, but that doesn't sound right), isolated from our peers watching the game AND from each other. The ability to take criticism and to see things from another point of view would be valuable as a teacher, I would have thought. - My brother was genuinely happy that in our new school, teachers wouldn't shout at him if he messed up. That being forgetting homework, not following instructions correctly, etc. Basic stuff that a child under the age of 10 might do without thinking about it. These are the three that stood out most for me. All in all, some teachers need a little more compassion, and the ability to recognize that their subject isn't the only one that matters and that students usually can't give 100% in all subjects.

My kid attended ISM primary in 2018. Before enrollment we had to pay ISM 8723 euro for 1 term and 9000 euro Development Contribution (non-refundable, per family), totally euro 17723. But he only stayed in ISM for 3 months, 1 term. It was a nightmare for him and we had no other choice but to find another normal international school for him rapidly! Even my kid in his age was aware that the big money we spend in ISM was totally a waste and we got to stop and run! All academic subjects (especially math, English reading, writing, and grammar) ISM teachers taught in class, except Spanish and Russia, were nothing new to him at all! He has already learned it 1 year ago in his previous British international school. I was so surprised to hear my kid complaining it! At the moment I strongly felt sorry, heartbroken, and guilty for my kid! ISM teachers wouldn't bother to provide him in class work sheets or self-practice materials for his academic standards needs. So you could imagine how boring he felt every school day! In math class for instance, most of the time he finished his work within 15 minutes and had nothing to do in class, just sitting there and watching teachers going around teaching kids for individual help. I told my kid that I have to admit I made a wrong choice for him and I am so sorry about it. Both his previous British international school and ISM are following British National Curriculum, how come the academic standards in ISM is 1 year behind ?!(While ISM tuition is 150% more expensive than his previous international school!!) Also in lunch time he was always hungry and never full in ISM cafeteria because the food provided was not enough. As about the outdoor football court space, it was merely size for reception and Year 1 (which are pre-k and k in American curriculum). He couldn't even play football in a normal way in recess because the court was too small and he was afraid he will kick the ball over the ISM fence! Speaking of recess, in his grade about 70-80% of students were Russian native speakers and most of them spoke only Russian in recess! So as a parent, more or less, you could guess how the English abilities and standards ISM kids are. One evening parents were invited to ISM as audience for kids stage play. By the time I arrive the venue, I saw portable stage and portable folding audience chairs in this rather poor, small, and limited space. Here comes more astonishing facilities. After the play my kid told me the poor venue is "multi-functional". In assembly occasions, kids sat in the ground for assembly. In PE class, it was indoor gym for sports activities (By the way it looks like a nice indoor sports venue on ISM website. Once you arrive in person, you'll know the difference in real.) And now for stage performance, with these portable stage and chairs, it became a theater! Speaking of PE, I've never seen my kid having swimming class in ISM by the way. Other minor things like my kids had personal belongs lost in ISM cloakroom and there was no lost and found in ISM seems to be ok, if you don't mind. During the 3 months my kids stayed in ISM, it happened to be in the transition period ISM was about to be sold or merged from the current education group (which is from Britain but sorry I forgot its name) to the new education group Nord Anglia. There were rumors among ISM kids. They were discussing if they need to spend big money again if ISM decides to change new uniform... By the time my kids were about to leave ISM, the school announced updated tuition for 2019-2020. And right after that, my class-parents whatsapp group immediately had parents petition supports for anti-ISM soaring tuition... I know I signed a contract for non-refundable 9000 euro Development Contribution. (In Russia you have no choice but to sign contract for almost everything.) But we are talking about education and ISM didn't provide a suitable educational environment. My kid only stayed in ISM for 3 months, couldn't ISM at least compensate a certain proportion of 9000 euro?

Studying in this fairly amazing school for nearly 4 years. From basically none-english speaker to a fluent english speaker with advanced vocabulary. The education in this school is considerably "world class" and teachers are generally quite friendly and love to help out struggling students. I do understand that the school try to keep a good reputation which is beneficial for students and the school. However, there are teachers as well as rules that is acting too strict on students. Especially for very minor or inconsequential things such as colour of your coat, wearing trainer while outdoor etc. For teachers being strict, I can comprehend that we are teenagers now and we should be responsible for what we are doing. But acting above a certain limit would be undesirable for some student which may will turn them into a negative attitude towards teacher or even vindicate themselves too aggressively. This will indeed make the teacher angry and turn this into a vicious circle. The end results will be a rebellious student that will now constantly acting against teach and a teach with a bad mood. What also lead this happen is that some teachers don’t give the student a chance to maybe explain or just communicate with them and saying word such as “you shall not talk back to teachers” which will trigger student and leading the situation back to the circle. This is very common in school (especially for Russian students) and even I have experienced a few time during the 4 years. School also do needs to taking in consideration that Russians are generally from rich family where they are in one way or another, “spoiled”. We need to teach them how to deal problems with teacher without making both contacts angry. One last thing is that beside a few teachers that having being staying in this school for years or even decade, the teachers are switching quite fast. I don’t know how human resources department manage them, but some teachers are refreshing each year or even gone within a few month. The issue here is that old teachers get to know us better, unlike new ones that need a period or time where teachers and student need to adjust to the most suitable and comfortable mode. Old teachers also know what students need to work on and what their already good with. I would suggest the should make the teachers stay longer. From a random student.

Individualised and caring teaching Having heard of the high academic standards for students at ISM, I was a little concerned at first to see how my nephew would manage, having recently received a diagnosis which showed a special educational need. The teachers have been proactive and supportive all the way, and I am relieved to see that my nephew is coping well with the academic challenges and is thriving at school. His teachers have been able to adapt their approach to his needs so that he can continue to make progress and feel supported in his learning. He has benefited from a rich music and arts programme, with excellent teachers and specialists to stretch him, and he has also developed new skills and confidence in computer science and sports. I had the pleasure recently of watching an online concert organised by the school which was wonderful. Initiatives like this have really helped to bridge the distance in our families and made us feel closer together. The communication between school and home is excellent, and we feel that he is in good hands. I am really pleased that the family made the switch to ISM and grateful that my nephew has such a good opportunity to develop his ambitions for the future. Matthew Butler.

At the moment three of our children are studying at ISM in different classes. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the school and administration. We have experience of studying in the Nord Anglia Education system also in other countries and it was very pleasant for us that our children in the Moscow branch began to go to school with even greater enthusiasm and desire. Teachers and staff create an interesting and eventful life for children in the classroom and school, they know how to find an approach to each child. Every morning the children are greeted with a smile and a great mood, and the educational process is organized in a comfortable, friendly and cozy atmosphere. Parents are also supported every week at the parent academy vibinars. Feedback for parents is excellent - any question comes with an immediate and complete answer. We would also like to note the well-organized distance learning in this difficult time. Even with three children, homeschooling continues easily and clearly. Thank you so much to all teachers and administration of the school for their daily work and attentive attitude towards students.

My daughter spent four wonderful years (secondary school) at ISM. This school has truly been a remarkable place for her growth and development. The dedication and support shown by ISM teachers have been outstanding. Throughout her time there, they not only imparted knowledge but also nurtured her curiosity, helping her reach her full potential. Most of the teachers are committed to the students' success. Special thanks to Maths and English teachers. What I appreciate most about ISM is the creation of a positive learning environment. Unlike our previous school, ISM has instilled in my daughter a sense of motivation and purpose, which is invaluable in preparing her for the future. Also want to highlight continuous support and cooperation from the school administration that I was lacking in our previous school. Whenever we had questions or concerns, they were approachable, responsive, and willing to work together to find solutions. It's a minor detail but ISM is a unique school where my daughter has never complained about the food provided :-)

My daughter DOB2008 and son DOB2010 have always been through British International curriculum, staring from Norway through Romania, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and now in ISM. They started in 2019 and I am extremely pleased with education level my kids received. Everything need to be supported by pure facts and I am ready to give away one very important one. We as a family decided my daughter to continue with her GCSE in UK, in one of the top schools according to the UK rank published. My daughter passed all exams with no issues and got admitted and now I receive numerous positive feedback from teachers in UK underlining the level of my daughter knowledge, especially in Math and Science topics. This for me a pure fact underlining the input ISM and their staff cemented in my daughter's future potential success, which I will be grateful forever. My son is now in Year 8 and looking at my daughter's example I am 100% sure he will have his smooth transition into UK GCSE smoothly. Thank you for everything ISM. No doubt TOP SCHOOL

  • Yuliy Apryatin

ISM is just an incredible school with the highest academic level and definitely the best in Russia and on the highest level in the world. We have now three children studying at ISM and from next year there will be a younger one joining the school. The two elders leave ISM to study in the UK in boarding school. They took exams for 5 different UK schools and made the UKiset and scored Math and English points higher than students from private schools in the UK and after interviews got invitations to all five schools. At the same time, they did not study additionally with tutors and all knowledge is the result of studying at ISM!!! Thanks to the school for such outstanding results and for highest standards in education! Two of our kids will stay in ISM for many more years.

We had a great experience at the International School of Moscow (ISM) where my daughter attended for two years. The school has supportive staff and skilled teachers, and a wide range of extracurricular activities. Despite starting with minimal English proficiency, my daughter quickly became fluent within just two years. Throughout this journey, Mr. Kyle Powell, her teacher, provided support and encouragement, helping her build confidence and excel academically. ISM offers a good selection of clubs and activities that helps students develop new skills and interests. The school environment is nice and surrounded by natural beauty. Additionally, the school's location is quite convenient. We recommend ISM to anyone seeking an international school in Moscow.

  • Cindy TChassem

We left AAS to ISM : 1/Ism School has no issue to proceed visa for their teachers, so they can selected the best teachers. 2/ all teachers are native english speakers. 3/ I am so proud how ISM handle to pandemic last year 4/ Students at ISM eat only healthy food. It was so important for my husband and I. 5/ I want my kids to work more academic ( I want them to have strong level in math ). 6/At ISM they give us a follow up from teachers every Friday about what they worked in class during the week And what they will learn the next week. 7/ I believe that the way, my kids dress up at ISM( uniform and proper shoes ) give them a lot of confidence. It was the best decision for my family and our kids to integrate the international school of Moscow.

  • Joonas Honkanen

I studied at ISM for 2 and a half years. I went to both campuses and although I really enjoyed ISM Rosinka, my experience at Krylatskoe completely ruined my view on the school. It's one thing for a teacher to be authoritative, but another for a teacher to be menacing. It's very difficult to have decent conversation with most of the teaching staff, for whenever they tell you to do something and you question why, they instantly get angry and tell you not to talk back. They also might give you a detention for pretty much anything, including the colour of your coat. What kind of high end, "world class education" school gets people in trouble for the colour of their coat? I highly recommend you do not enrol your children to this school.

  • Evolve Skateboards

Ive been a student at ism for 4 years now. And the school itself and our classmates are all great. The only 2 concerns I have are some teachers. Many of them are great in some way or an other. But a few of them waste their time on screaming at students or not helping them. Another concern is that we, the students, don't have the right to give our opinions on anything except some things that are rarely brought up in the school year such as sports day and the swimming gala. All inconveniences aside, I think this school is still great. It gives me all the education I need and helped me make new, lifelong friends. ( I truly don't recommend to send your kids to the school buses those are hell holes)

We moved in 2021 from the Netherlands to Moscow for my work, and my son started his Six Form years at the International School of Moscow. He had a fantastic time there. A team of skillful and dedicated teachers carefully prepared him for and guided him through his exams, and he was more than ready for his next step, university (in the Netherlands). My son made wonderful and lasting friendships during these two years and as a parent I have always felt heard, informed, and respected. The positive approach of the school has been very beneficial to my son. I highly recommend ISM!

  • Robert Lau

It is not worth the high tuition fee at all! The education, the PE facilities, the lunch, the attitude of some staffs, everything! First class fee, third class service. The management is poor and some teachers (not just one or two) are incredibly rude and mean. Some did not even respond the enquiry emails sent by the parents raising normal academic questions, just ignore them again and again! Qualified teachers are leaving. ISM is going downward spiral rapidly day by day and no signs for improving. Highly recommend you not to choose ISM only if there are other choices.

  • Tanja Jaser

Our experience at the International School of Moscow was overall absolutely positive. Our daughter first attended Primary school and then Secondary School. The leadership team as well as the teachers were always very welcoming and made sure our daughter integrated easily into the school and enjoyed being a part of the daily school programme. The wide variety of partnerships that the school has, offers additional opportunities of learning and development for the students. Our daughter developed into a confident and independent student during her time at ISM Moscow.

  • Alexei Chernoy

I like the school, its above what i expect from a school that's only 8 years in the making and still growing! There are several things about the school that i don't like, some teachers will say your late even if you had to go to the top floor and back down to another building, and still be blamed for being late. With the new system i think it would be better if we had at least a 5 minute shorter break in order that we aren't blamed for being late after break or lunch. other than that there's nothing wrong! (most the 1 star reviews are wrong)

  • College Moscow Eton

Not recommended. The school follows the British curriculum not the international (IB) one. School lunches are not savory (tasty) and I just eat it because I'm hungry (just eating). Teachers are nice and helpful. Still, it would be appropriate if the school did follow IB because it is an 'INTERNATIONAL' school. I am going to move to AAS as quickly as possible. School needs some dramatic changes and improvements. PS. My name is not College Moscow Eton. Please do not get confused.

  • Milica Aleksic

My son spent 3 years in ISM. We have just wonderful memories. He became much more self confident, balanced - they made him responsible and effective. The most of teachers are top level pedagogues, very patient and supportive with kids. Healthy food, a lot of sports, good clubs, wonderful productions. No politics , very neutral in that sensitive question in sensitive times with a kids of different nationalities . Very advanced with new technologies. I can just say THANK YOU !!!

  • Елена Гречина

I am sure that ISM is the best school in Russia. My both children studied there from the age of 3 for more then 10 years. This school provides a very high standard of British education together with a very careful approach to the child’s personality. Children love this school. They never said they didn’t want to go to school. In the end they both had an excellent level of knowledge, self confidence and very warm memories about ISM. Our children and us, parents, miss ISM a lot.

  • Elena Kozhevnikova

Known for its unsurpassed academic results and alumni studying in many top world universities – thanks to the dedicated team of experienced academic staff – the school is a great choice for high-achievers. ISM also boasts a very positive energy and a family-like atmosphere. Cozy classrooms, a gorgeous library, healthy and balanced meals that pack a lot of vegetables, no fried, mayonnaise infused, or other harmful things - children get used to healthy food.

  • Кальянова Анна

We joined the ISM community in 2010. This year my son graduated from school and entered KCL. Of course, during these 13 years, not everything was perfect, but this is a good school that gives children the opportunity to enroll in top universities in the world, and most importantly, teaches children to think broadly and comprehensively . I am also grateful to the school for its support in the most difficult life situations.

  • UselessTvBro

the education is decent but the school needs to improve on the quality of student life on and of campus, they can improve on the following: student and teacher relations teachers can be very intrusive into your personal lives lunch is sometimes disgusting (me and my friends once found a maggot in our pasta) i also witnessed a abusive manoeuvre against a student which included: shouting pushing overall abusive behaviour

  • Kenza Faraj

Happy New Year 2022 to the ISM team. Best wishes to all. Six months ago, we left for a new destination, and we are missing ISM. It is fantastic to see that what was a permanent sharing and caring relation with the ISM team is continuing until now. We are proud of what our children achieved at ISM during 4 years, and we are ready to return there at any moment. Merci infiniment!

  • Philip G Gordon

My teenage granddaughter has moved away from the UK with her parent’s work. There has been inevitable upheaval for her. However at this school she has blossomed. Her confidence has grown exponentially. Her academic work is of a high standard and has improved at the school. Most importantly she has found a good circle of friends and really enjoys the school ethos.

  • Yanina Myuller

My son spent seven amazing years (secondary school) at ISM. This school was a wonderful place for him. The teachers were outstanding. The learning environment was great. My son has acquired not only excelent knowledge, but also very good friends. This is one of the best schools, which gives children only the best knowledge and prepares them for their futures.

  • David Steer

We are a mixed nationality couple (Australian and Russian). Our two kids (now 14 and 12) have attended ISM since 2008. It is conveniently located and offers excellent education driven by a committed and talented group of teachers and staff. A perfect place to give your kids the best start in life. Very highly recommended.

  • Zulfiya Khamidullina

  • V

ISM is the best international school in Moscow with a team of experienced and caring teachers. The academic results are excellent and the students learn and grow in a highly friendly and positive atmosphere. The school also offers a wide range of music, sports and other extra-curricular activities.

  • Maria Watkins

Wonderful school. Our kids were in the school since it opened its doors in 2007 all through to Year 13. All teachers, management and admin staff are very capable and supportive, they really care about your child's success and encourage each of the students to achieve their best.

  • Serge Komyshan

Great school that has become a foundation for our 2 kids start in their academic life. One is at a US University now and the other has recently joined an IB board overseas to prepare for her Uni. Both have retained good memories about the school staff and their experience

  • O Miro

Unsatisfactory education and service for abnormally large tuition fees. The teaching staff often reprimands the children in a very negative way, which impacts the learning experience. I have found that my children make very little progress in anything besides English.

  • Graydon Culver

As a teacher, I'm proud to work at ISM. When I first arrived in Moscow 6 years ago I did not expect to make Russia my home, but ISM is the reason I'm still here. It's a great school that strives to be even better and has staff dedicated to student well being.

  • Dr. Antonia KUCHAROVA

I moved out of the UK because I couldn't find an outstanding school for my children. I found it here in Russia! Professional staff, healthy food, extra curricular classes...and much more. I am truly amazed how much this school has helped my kids grow!

ISM have improved a lot in recent years. Best option in Russia, but I only give it 4 stars as you get much better elsewhere (outside of Russia) for that money. Otherwise great staff and management, acceptable facilities. Miles ahead of AAS.

Although ISM Krylatskoe may lack some facilities on the site, the school is surrounded by superb Olympic facilities that greatly add to the overall "world-class" vibe of the place. Couldn't have imagined a better alternative indeed!
