I kind of miss the old Cyclorama exhibit in Grant Park -- the narrated painting as you slowly rotated around it was a favorite of ours. The focus of the history now is different, and the experience itself has its own highlights -- still worth visiting, just not what we were expecting. I got a lot out of the Olympics exhibit as well. More here to take in than we could do in an afternoon -- we will definitely be back! Our out-of-town visitors enjoyed it, as well as Souper Jenny's and the coffee shop. A great visit all-around.

This new venue for the historic Cyclorama, which depicts the Civil War battle of Atlanta, is under construction. It's planned to open in the fall of 2018. When I visited the Atlanta History Center on 11/27/17, they had one of the doors open to help ventilate the construction dust and I snuck in to take these two photos of the Western & Atlantic Engine 12. They placed the engine first, then constructed the building around it. (Also search for “Atlanta Cyclorama” for more info.)

The entire Atlanta History Center is amazing. There were exhibits about the Centennial Olympics, Bobby Jones the golfer, Bogart, and so many other areas of Interest. I had a great lunch at the Swan Coach House on the grounds of the Atlanta History Center. Souper Jenny is right in the main building and is also a popular lunch option.

Unfortunately we were short on time. The painting and display are amazing, I'm glad it's been restored to the original. Too bad we didn't have time to read the information.

The Cyclorama is beautiful to see and a must go at least once. The only issue I had was the limited seating for the movie causing people to stand right in front of me.

Wow very impressive massive historical painting with a great quick movie to explain the context and a live guide to give more background and answer questions.

Cycloramas are entertainment based on a true story. Almost none of it is truth. If you like the story, it is great. If you want the truth, not so much. Kind of like FOX News.

It would be nice if the brochures in the Infantry museum near Fort Moore gave the correct address.

Really enjoyed the museum. Very well done but is a bit biased and misses a lot of historical figures. Also, wished they stayed open longer so get there early in being able to see everything. Great place to have lunch.

Recently totally restored. Wonderful painting with diorama figures in transition area. Watch short presentation on 2nd level - excellent narrative around painting. Lots to read. Handicap accessible.
