If I could give this place a 0 I would. I was in town a week ago for an insurance convention. I arrived a day earlier and when I found out there was an old spaghetti factory in town, I was exited. I have eaten at the Indianapolis location a few times and I wanted to try this one. I was by myself and made a reservation on line for 6:45 pm on 9/16. Well the only thing that went right was I was seated when I arrived. There were large groups of teens there, maybe it was a pre teen dance dinner so the place was packed. My waitress took my drink order, I asked for a water and then I waited and waited and waited for at least 15 minutes. Finally, I decided to go out side to make a phone call as it was getting late on the east coast. When I was heading to the door, she was coming back with my water, I told her I had to make a phone call and would be right back. I never went back in and ended up eating back at my hotel. I was very disappointed because of the lack of service I received and they lost a customer and I probably won’t come back. There are many nicer Italian restaurants in the area to dine.

Very mediocre, I expected better, main course was good not great - Meat sauce / pasta / meatballs (medium sized not large as advertised, and very basic), salad was lame and dressing was worse than off the shelf only 1 soup choice vegetable minestrone, bread was fresh but barely above room temperature. Very surprised that a $20 "Hearty Meal" plate of spaghetti wasn't quite filling. Never been to this location before, and haven't been to any location in probably 6 years (because they just weren't local), but it definitely isn't what I remember, I guess that's what happens when it grows too fast. There was a long wait for a table, so I sat in the bar, but even though it was only 1/2 full and there were 3-4 waiters it was sometimes hard to get someone's attention - so again mediocre. I'll be going back to Andre's in L.A., cafeteria style mom & pop, much better food, bigger portions, lower prices, and even though cafeteria style I'd call it better service, not to mention about 15 flavors of homemade gelato instead of just spumoni & vanilla ice cream here.

Have been visiting this place for 30 years... When a meal (salad or soup, main course, soda or coffee, and ice cream were under $10). Was heartbroken when they closed for a number of years. The Browned Butter and Mizithra spaghetti is my favorite! Everyone in the family loves it.

It's difficult to park in Gaslamp! However, there's a multistory parking garage a block away from the OSF. If you get there (and leave) before a certain time (6 pm, I think), fees are very reasonable.

Good value, simple concept meal. I had never heard of this chain until I visited here and only stumbled across it without looking. Very busy and reservations are advised but they do accept walk-ins, however you'll likely be waiting for a time especially at busy times. A busy place is a good sign somewhere is good. Being very critical, it is basic pasta after all but for a downtown major place the prices are exceptional value. I do recommend this place. Restrooms are clean and seating is spread out across different levels, with some seating having small booths and others with open plan tables. Located moments from a street car stop with links straight to Santa Fe Depot. Great for families for being very child friendly, with drawing menus and good for adults too.

Was in the mood for Italian so I decided to try something in gaslamp square. I didn't realize that it was a chain restaurant. The host and wait staff were nice and we were seated quickly. The food was ok at best.. the cheesy garlic bread lacked a lot. It just seemed like the took a load of bread threw some cheese on it and placed it under the salamander . The bread was soft with cheese on top. Not that great. The crab and lobster ravioli were again lack luster.. only 5 ravioli per portion with a pesto sauce that was ok. The Cesear salad upgrade is definitely NOT worth it as the house salad looked very similar. Not my best meal in San Diego.. not so sure I'd rush back here.

Where do I start? The silverware of both me and my guess were dirty. That is simply unacceptable during Covid and Monkey pox times. The salad the lettuce was old and wilty. I ordered the crab ravioli. Not sure if they use frozen ravioli but it was cold in the inside. The flavor was decent though. However, the chicken breast fetticine was SO bad. Literally, the worse pasta I have ever had. No flavor. We asked for to go silverware, because both of our sets were dirty. He brought plastic utensils gripped in his hand. It was not individually wrapped again...Covid times. The waiter was at least nice even though it took him for ever to come by and take our drink order. I won't be back.

We planned to dine in here for on our short family get away. Immediately upon entering the restaurant through the front door, one Staff member (I’m assuming HE was the Manager) was extremely rude and condescending. I thought maybe it was because they were getting ready to close, but still not a good reason for rudeness. It was still an hour and a half before closing. The hostess said the wait would be about 30-45 minutes. We decided not to wait, mainly because the Man was so rude, and to go somewhere else. Which I’m glad we did. Rockin’ Baja Lobster was so good and they were super nice! The Old Spaghetti Factory needs some major hospitality training.

We spent double the time there than we should have. We were not waited on for at least 20 mins after being seated. There was an excuse for that. Our salads/soups came out late so we were only half done when our meal showed up. We waited another 20 mins between meal and dessert. There was another excuse why. And then didn't bring our bill out for quite some time after that, along with another excuse. Everything was about the other tables etc. While other servers stood around. Like the atmosphere but lacked significantly in service and food was mediocre.

This is our 1st time at Old Spaghetti Factory and we loved it! The entire atmosphere is intimate with an old luxury vibes. Now let's get to the food. My wife's had the pasta with wine cream sauce and marinara with mushrooms. I enjoyed the classic lasagna which was delicious! They offer a 3 course soup salad option, entree and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Jessie was professional and brought our meal out to us in style and fashion! This restaurant is located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter so there are tons of other places to check out

The first night we tried to dine here, we were told that we had to make reservations to avoid a long wait. We figured the food must be good and were excited to visit the next day. We were wrong! It's nasty! We could have visited the Olive Garden for better food and half the price. I ordered the cheese bread as an appetizer and the Garlic Shrimp Fettuccine as my meal. The Fettuccine was horrible; it was dry and the shrimp were overcooked and tasted rubbery. I posted a photo, but don't let it fool you; that Fettuccine looked good but was definitely nasty! The cheese bread was delicious.

I've enjoyed the Old Spaghetti Factory for years, and this is one of the better stores in the chain. I love how they occasionally take beautiful classic buildings and elevate them, and this particular building is full of character and interest. The food is good if you like spaghetti, realizing that it's not for everyone. The service is always good and frequently excellent. On a recent visit, our server Alexander absolutely exceeded our expectations for professionalism, efficiency, and careful service. He flawlessly handled a complex 6-top with drinks, apps, and split checks. I'll go back as often as I can, when I continue to have experiences like that.

We always go here during comic con because they always seat us relatively quickly, the food is always good, and the service is always quick. On a busy weekend like comic con many restaurants can struggle to keep up (I've been to many that take a LONG time) but the Old Spaghetti Factory is always quick with the food. I like that many of the meals come with salad and dessert so you get a whole meal without having to think about it too hard. They also have plenty of wine and beer options.

The food was decent, service was efficient. The building is really cool and there’s a loft bar/lounge that is probably the most interesting thing about this location. There are fewer options than Olive Garden, seems less fatty and individual portions are also cheaper. I wouldn’t go back here necessarily as don’t think the food is worth a revisit. We were there on a random Saturday afternoon at 3:30 and had to wait 45 minutes for a table for two!

It is what it is. A chain restaurant. The food is ok. It's cheaper than some restaurants. The garlic cheese bread was very good, however. The chicken parmesan had too much cheese on it and not enough breading. Our table bread was overcooked. The milkshake had chunks of ice in it and so did the vanilla ice cream. The floor was extremely sticky under our table and it's really dark in the restaurant. I probably won't go back.

We went here very late on a comic con night, with three people just looking for an indoor time after the event. Turned out that two of our party weren't getting any sort of real food orders and the waitress was super patient and friendly despite that. She was an absolute saint with us and I fail her by not fully recalling her name but I want to say something like "Bertie" but know that's wildly wrong. She was great and the cheesecake, pasta and salad we got were all solid!

Food was good. If I could give a zero for service I would. Was discriminated because of my skin color. Of course when a white family asks for something, it’s given to them however when I ask for the same thing I’m given a lame excuse as to why I can’t get it. Pains me to write this review as I really loved the food but sadly I won’t be coming again due to the poor service from this one waitress. I didn’t bother remembering her name, wasn’t worth knowing anyway.

From the staff in front who greet and seat you to the servers, you won't be disappointed. We had the pleasure of be served by AJ by far the best waiter I have ever had. Manager's Favorite comes with a side salad (I polluted mine with lots of black pepper and some parmesan cheese), I chose angel hair pasta with Mizithra and meat sauce, lovely bread with garlic butter, and delicious spumoni ice cream (pictured half eaten). Great meal for a great price!! We longed for their Garlic Shrimp appetizer which they no longer have. Please return it to your menu

I opted for the Manager's Favorite, which was accompanied by a side salad (I enhanced mine with plenty of black pepper and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese). For the main course, I selected angel hair pasta with Mizithra and meat sauce, accompanied by delightful bread with garlic butter. To cap off the meal, I enjoyed a delicious half-eaten spumoni ice cream. It was a fantastic meal at an excellent price! We were nostalgic for their Garlic Shrimp appetizer, which unfortunately is no longer on the menu. Please consider bringing it back .

I attempted to go to this place. As soon as I walked in, there was a guy standing at the front counter. As I told this person I was the only one for a table, he pushed me away saying “another girl would soon be back” and walked away. When a young lady did show up, she acted as though I wasn’t there at first till I finally said something. I was finally told the next table would be in an hr. I walked out and will never go back again. Till now I always ate there when I come to SD yearly.

I was able to make a reservation and change it on Google, which was really convenient. Our table was ready 5 minutes after the scheduled time. The food was good, like I expect most Spaghetti Factory locations to have. The server was good as well. I know there was limited space in this location, which was good for what it was. I'm just not into the skinny, multistory locations in a big city.

The Old Spaghetti Factory may be popular mainly for nostalgia, but it does have solid “Italian American” comfort food in a nice atmosphere and good service. The garlic bread is awesome, the spumoni with your meal is a great touch and all their pasta dishes hit the right notes. It’s not gourmet and you will likely have a lot of celebrations and loud parties around you, but in a way that’s what you should experience in a place like this and that’s comforting.

There was 11 people in our party and 4 of us had the Fettuccine Alfredo. We all got food poisoning. I called to let them know so they would stop serving that sauce. Can't imagine if a child was to eat it that dish. I never got a call back from the restuarant. I at least expected a apology. Very disappointed!

Honestly this place is terrible. Dropped in expecting some great pasta based on the reviews. My bland lobster ravioli came out so quick that it’s almost certainly frozen/reheated. I’ve never had sangria I didn’t like, this Sangria was a Shirley Temple with some wine poured in…otherwise service was great. Would skip this next time.

I really enjoyed the venue. It was a really nice place to eat dinner. The food was simple and not really that flavourful, but it was fine for the price. Everything comes as a three course meal, which I found odd. I really didn’t want a soup, but in the end it was ok. I had the meat balls which were nice, but the sauce was quite plain. My colleague had the ravioli, that looked good.

It is one of my old favory restaurant chain in Toronto. Found it in San Diego, have to give it a try. It looks and feel the like an old classic restaurant, wooden tables and chairs. Food was fair, portion is ok for me. The three course meal come with a tastey bread, it is so soft that I have a hard time cutting it. Generally the food are ok, Not great, that's why I only give it 4 stars. BTW this restaurant is family friendly, bring your kids here!

The food was all good. Had the cheese bread appetizer and the steak tenderloins with pasta meal that was delicious. Highly recommend going upstairs to sit at the bar or the lounge area which is what we did. There’s no wait there so it’s just first come first serve. The bar is pretty large so there’s a lot of room and it’s cool because it has an ice ring around it to keep your drink cold at all times.

I was disappointed with this restaurant. I received a recommendation and ordered a “Rich meat sauce”. It’s just a cooked pasta with an artificial meat sauce not fresh, it doesn’t taste a home made dish. For that price, a fast food is better. My thanks go to the bar. The Moscow mule was pretty good!

I was excited to try this place as it seemed quite popular. We waited about 30 minutes and got seated. Our server was very nice and the prices were good, but my clam spaghetti wasn’t very good. Your typical Spaghetti Factory. Food was great, service was great, seating was okay. Sat next to a large window in the evening with the sun shining directly in our faces. A bit on the warm side, and bright. Probably would be a good idea to put some tint on the windows up high, just to help cut down on the glare. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience!

Took over an hour to get our food after I had to order the food an hour in advance on the website. Also the chicken that they were waiting on to finish the order was not cooked all the way. Only giving a 2 star review due to them feeling super bad and giving us the food for free.

Food was delicious and price was great for a salad, dinner, and dessert all included in the $20.99 price on the menu. I had the pot pourri dish and was very happy with my choice. The Spumoni ice cream for dessert was delicious as well. Highly recommend!!

Food was mediocre. We hadn't been in here in years. I was so disappointed. Not Going back. A friend just recently told me that he and his family had the same thoughts. About this place. We're all locals.

Wonderful food, great atmosphere, super pleasant staff made celebrating our anniversary a delight. Opted for the raviolis and a side of cheesy garlic toast.

The food was okay at best. Long wait with not that many customers present. Waited for drinks and refills too long. Wrong drinks were served. The atmosphere was great though.

Good visit to the old spaghetti factory. We was seated in the lower part like bosses. Our server was very nice , She was the best. Had the Meat Trio, must try if you are a meat eater. Friend had chicken picatta which was delicious. Also try strawberry lemonade. When I return to San Diego will revisit.

  • Brett Loranger

The food was decent, kind of plain for a supposed high end location venue. The venue itself was superb with it's wood structure and artwork. The staff seemed a lil short and by that I mean attitude. Overall a decent dining experience for lunch.

The place is nice and very cozy. Great for pasta lovers. Service is super fast. Staff is friendly. The portions are huge and it is very cheap as you get a salad or soup, the main dish, bread, and an ice cream scoop for a great value. A must in downtown San Diego especially if you’re hungry!

  • Rick Gonzales

Super fire ! I get the zesty Italian sausage with meat sauce. But,,,,, I sub the meat sauce for clam sauce and I get a side of mizithra for the topping . Pesto salad and an ice tea. And spumoni for desert. Sooooo goood! Try it!

First time to try this restaurant. Heard the name, but just never been before. I ordered the most basic spaghetti with olive oil and cheese. Decent taste and decent price. The noodle was is not too soft like typical American spaghetti. I liked their quick service for my weekday lunch.

Excellent food as expected. Craving pasta after the Padre game and this was within walking distance from the ballpark. Forgot to take a photo of the Meat lovers dish bit I did take one of the salad!

The waiter was pushy and kind of rude. The pasta was a little overcooked, and the chicken kind of dry but not the worst I've tasted.

My 1st try at this venerable restaurant chain, and it was very good. Had a lovely spaghetti w home made marinara and from scratch Italian meatballs. Yum! Nice beer list too. That spumoni dessert was also excellent: chocolate, cherry, pistachio ice cream.

  • J. Ejimofor

Visited Old Spaghetti Factory with my family. Great location. Make sure you reserve ahead, the system works. Walk-ins that evening we're being told 45min, while we just waited about 5 minutes.

Nice place to have dinner with friends, cool atmosphere and the food is good, the bread comes warm and smelling very yummy. The 3 course meal is the best deal, ice cream is really good. Waiter was very attentive to our table, we left happy and full.

  • Audrey Burrows

Food was good, salad was out of a bag and some pieces were brown. Service was a bit slow at first but got way better. Restaurant was clean, lighting was on the darker side, but not in horrible. Lots of seating. Good for groups, dates and family.

  • Joey FLORIDA

Delicious and affordable. Not touristy at all. This place is a large chain. As such, experiences may vary. I found the food to be good, and the servers friendly. Ate here twice while visiting San Diego for 4 days. Beautiful/comfortable inside.

  • Daisy

The 3 course meal was a great deal! I got the spinach tortellini, a salad with thousand island dressing and the ice cream. I also tried the artichoke spinach dip which was yummy. It was all so much food that I was stuffed and didn’t finish.

  • J.R.

I could eat bushels of mizithra with brown butter. I absolutely love that dish and usually order the hearty size with extra cheese (my doc now knows why I might have high cholesterol). The salad here looks like bagged iceberg lettuce…meh.

  • Mildred Fox

The person that sat us was rude, and not at all attentive that we had elderly people that could not go up the stairs. When I asked to use the elevator, he acted like I had asked for the world. He didn't talk to us and barely told us where

I was in San Diego on business and stopped by for dinner as I was familiar with the restaurant from other cities. The service, food and atmosphere did not disappoint. The staff were cordial & friendly, and I was seated quickly. The

Fun place to eat. I had the spaghetti with marinara and mushrooms. The meals come with a soup or salad and an ice cream desert. It was a good meal and the atmosphere is amazing...lots of fun details and secluded tables and booths.

  • Kyle Whalen

The food was alright and the hostess was funny and personable however the waitress was almost non-existent, drinks if they got refilled took forever, she didn't even get our drink order in til 10 minutes after being seated

  • Brian P

The building is huge and historic. You must take a look around. The food is good and service is great. They give you bread to start, and depending on what meal you order, you get a soup or salad and ice cream at the end.

  • Surabhi Singh

Make sure to arrive a little early as they don't take reservations and walk ins have wait. We had our food comped as it took super long for them to bring our dinner but it was delicious. The service was also great!

  • kirsten valdez

Been coming here over 10 years and it's Always a good time. Great for families, kids, large parties. Good sized portions and good food! Don't miss the broccoli with mizithra, only $6.99 for large and it's so good!

  • Stacy Slaten

Food was very good, and our wait person was awesome! The Garlic Mizithra and my son's linguine were excellent. Only downside, and it was a big one was dirty utensils-- forks still had food stuck on them …

  • Kelly Hyer

Great location. We had a very attentive server even on a busy, busy night. Menu is limited with average portions. Bathrooms are upstairs in this location. Italian cream soda was the favorite of the night.

  • john doe

Enjoyed my 2 visits because the food was delicious and had great servers. 3 course meals on all dinners but competitive pricing. Nice to include scoop of ice cream at end of meal. Pleasant decor inside.

  • Max Lanfear

Great place to eat after a busy day with great value for money. $15 for a 3 course meal. Food was tasty and quick. Was quite busy, but no wait for a table; larger groups were advised to book a table.

  • Mark R

Seated right away. Server greeted quickly and was friendly. Food came quick and everything was hot. No problems. We came right before an event at Petco Park so we were suprised there was not a wait.

  • Kathryn Lewis

Don't let the poor reviews fool you! This place is beautiful, staff friendly, food just crazy good, I highly recommend a visit to Old Town San Diego 'The Old Spaghetti Factory". So delish. …

  • Missy Beutler

Great for a big group. Awesome service and wonderful food. Parking was easy to find. We got there around 5 and they seated our group of 10 with only a 10 min wait. Very nice evening with family!

  • Shannon Pool

My first experience there and it was awesome! Beautiful fire in the background, delicious food and beverages. Service was prompt and knowledgable. Reservations recommended during busy times.

  • Arthur Rosen

Had a reservation. They took us late. Prices way up and took away free drink. Didn’t have food available on the paper menu. You’d think they could change it. We got up and left More

  • Leon Chang

Portions were larger than I remembered. Good near sauce and meatballs but the Italian sausage was a bit bland. The place is huge so the wait even during comic con wasn't too bad.

  • Joe Nabil

I loved the whole experience in eating in such an authentic restaurant the quality of food is amazing. Great service ! Delicious Berries Sangria !
