This hostile from the moment you walk in gives immediate speakeasy with well traveled hippie grandma vibes. There are 8 rooms (mine was private and was able to lock it) and two full bathrooms and I think the third bathroom also had a shower but that one always seemed to be occupied during my stay lol so not sure if it’s a full bathroom or just a toilet. Check in was pretty easy and very clear, it’s self check-in which was great! Directions on how to sign into Wi-Fi were easy and didn’t lag. There’s a TV above the cute bar where you could watch Netflix. And then there are two tables against a bench and then two high tables in the small eating quarters. There were other people that were there while I was there that were very considerate of being quiet during quiet hours of 10 PM to 6 AM which was nice. But I noticed no one really hung out in the eating quarters/bar area, which is okay with me because I’m pretty introverted and why I prefer hostiles with private rooms and/or that are smaller. But just in case you’re social and wanting to meet other people, I’m not sure that this place would be good for that or maybe it was the time of year I visited (end of September). I’m giving five stars but I will say the location was a little odd. But I think that goes with the vibe of it being unmarked and unnoticed off the street because of it being a speakeasy. The location overall was great as I got to go to Echo Park and Silverlake easily to check out shops and restaurants. Additional pros: there are earplugs, disposable razors, travel, size body lotion, and other things in acute basket next to the eating quarters, which was helpful because I needed lotion. there’s also a Keurig machine with coffee pods, powdered creamer, cups and 2 mini fridges. There a little station where you can fill up your water bottle or get hot water from too. Con: It was pretty hot at night. And the email I received about check-in procedures were pretty clear about not messing with the thermostat. I do think that someone might’ve said something because I noticed that it was a couple degrees cooler on the thermostat one night. But it felt about the same sleeping that night. The walls are also paper thin. So I understand why quiet hours are strictly enforced. I could hear someone opening up a bag of chips and clicking on their iPhone trying to send a text next door. So when I had a stomachache one night, it was not fun if you know what I mean lol

I asked the owner via Airbnb messenger if they provide shorter stays at discounted prices (i.e. 6 hours for a small engagement photoshoot. 3 people total.) as I was interested in using his bar area of the apt/hotel. He states he could charge me $600+ For a regular “night stay” and requested me not to use any beds to avoid additional linen fees. He offered that, but then added an unnecessary comment, saying “ It’s up to you. Or just go to the park and take pictures. It’s free.” I was shocked at that last comment about going to the park and stated that comment was not needed, and that I was just asking for prices to get more information. I told him I would have still booked whether or not he provided discounts. His response was: “ This conversation isn’t needed either. You can clearly see our prices and then tried to negotiate an already low price. I suggested something free because money is obviously something you are concerned with. If you’re not concerned with money then you can book for the prices that we advertise. We don’t need your business. We like to book to normal guests.” Never have I felt so belittled by an Airbnb person. If I could give 0 stars for this interaction with the owner, I would.

It's my third staying at that place & I love this boutique hostel more and more every time I'm here. I always choose The Rosemary over any other places to stay in LA and it's a new experience every time First of all : LOCATION! I'm in the center of the coolest neighborhood with a bunch of bars, cafes, coffee shops, restaurants, yoga places etc. Second of all : it's super CLEAN and I never waited for a bathroom/shower to use. Third: SAFETY! I feel like I'm at home , everybody is super kind and respectful (the cleaning lady's are gorgeous ). Each room is locked but the dining area is open for everybody. You also have unlimited coffee, water 24/7 for free! Forth: the INTERIOR ! High ceilings, huge paintings, beautiful soft wallpapers , I feel like I'm an actress of a Hollywood movie or a painter... or a writer . This place is a vibe! I promise you will enjoy your stay and never forget it ! PS Check out both bathrooms , they are on a next level.

We recently reached out to ask about rates if they allow for photo/video shoots even for an hour or 2. It's such a unique looking place that would look great on camera so we gave it a shot by asking. Long story short, the person answering questions on their Air BnB was very rude with their responses. Basically saying we need to pay the full price, if not then go take pictures for "free at a park." I understand that and I don't disagree with their policy but we were just asking an honest question and nothing hostile about it. We weren't trying to lowball them. Why such a rude response? A simple "Thanks for inquiring but sorry we dont discount our prices in anyway, you would have to pay for a full nights stay to use the space for your shoot" would have been fine. They even ended it with "We dont need your business" when we asked why such a rude response? If someone is able to talk like this to someone who is asking a honest question, then it's safe to say they have terrible customer service.

PSA and would have been nice to have warning from the hotel - parked on the street a block away for 10 hours overnight and car got broken into, no valuables in sight. I would expect it in SF but not here. Just be aware! I needed a place to crash for the night and this place really is so cute. I was a bit surprised when my room did not have a window as I don't recall reading that online. Wasn't a big deal for me but may be nice to know for others. Walls are thin so be aware if you are sensitive to noise. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Overall a good budget option, but less of a good deal when you add in the cost and time of a window replacement.

The Rosemary is somewhat enigmatic. Upon arrival we could not find it as it's only tell tale is the small number on the Steel Door. On entering the pin number you enter in to a small hallway with subdued lighting and music, where you obtain your room key from a keysafe. The rooms are eclectic in decoration style my partner being convinced that it was once a Brothel ! The Rosemary is very clean and tidy and if you like the unusual you will love it. It's convenient to many of the L.A. attractions.

Great hostel in a great part of LA! This hostel was so much fun to stay at and the rooms were perfect for what we needed. Double bed was perfect size for two adults and the bathrooms were always clean and well maintained. Felt safe in the area and there are coffee shops, food, and shopping all walkable in like 10-15 min range. Parking does kinda suck though and we ended up getting a week pass at the children’s hospital that’s like 2 blocks up and over. It’s not super convenient but it wasn’t too bad.

The rooms are clean and nice decorated but very small - you can’t really take your luggage in, the air conditioning is working in the night, you can’t switch off - if you want to catch a cold, come here!! There is no separate bathroom in the room, only to use for all guests in on the main floor. You can hear everything, especially this what happens in the neighbour room In sum we have learned we will invest in more commodity next time..

I was attacked and attracted by this place the moment I stepped in! The vestibule (waiting area) was the first thing made curious to go in and check what’s behind this amazing wood door! The entrance hall took back to 70s; the vintage wallpaper retro orange flock on gold (baroque period) WOW! Very selective pieces, furniture and everything!!! Cats lover for sure, many interesting stories on walls inside frames! I would live here for sure hahahaah Love it, and you should visit it

Not what I expected but not a bad place it's really neat inside very quiet and clean except for the bathroom and my only issue was my neighbors next door cuz the walls are paper-thin I could hear them going at it all night and they sounded like dying hyenas that was extremely annoying extremely frustrating I mean it was over-the-top ridiculous which isn't the hotel's fault but it would have been nice if they could have like banging on the doors and considering it's a small place

This was one of the safest, cleanest and most unique places I’ve ever stayed in within LA! You can tell the owners go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome, and most of all safe. There’s little travel items you can take if you need like toothpaste, lotion, etc, and the bathrooms were all fully stocked with things you need. It’s incredibly affordable and so clean. I cannot wait to stay here again!

The best hostel I've ever been to. Everything was so clean! Even though the toilet is shared with other guests, it was in an impeccable state. The decoration is so chic, loved every little detail. They also offered a lot of complimentary items. I fully recommend this to anyone

Loved this place was cozy and served its purpose. Great locale and a good price to boot. The cleaning lady was helpful and luckily i spoke Spanish. If you are wanting maid service you may be let down as you are in a self-service room. My only suggestion would be if the towels ould be a little bigger and of better quality. I will most definitely be back.

Loved the atmosphere and value. Unfortunately, even with ear plugs, you can hear guests like they are right in your room and they aren't totally mindful of the quiet hours. I really appreciated that the bathrooms were very clean, that isn't always the case in a shared bathroom situation.

had an amazing time. 10 mins away from the Metro Red Line. having your own room with a key & lock on it. I felt that personal items were safe there. If location is not an issue and traveling alone and not staying in LA long I would recommend a affordable place to stay is here. Towels were provided, i hear the cleaners every morning maintaining the place daily. Loved it!!!

Loved everything about this place. I hope it won’t be ruined by the crazy people from the Gotham GTA city Los Angeles. For example the guy that just made a review complaining about room size and wanted a whole seperate bathroom for 50 dollars a night in LA make it make sense and go get a life

So many good things to say. The entire place is so odd looking on the outside. But inside it is beautiful! There’s cold and hot water on tap. Plus free coffee. Rooms are so best on the inside. Parking isn’t terrible either. The shared bathroom situation isn’t too bad either.

I fell in love with this place ! I was amazed with the decor. The room I was in was very cute. It had an iron, blow dryer and a shower caddy which I thought was very thoughtful. Everything was very clean ! I will definitely book again :)

Great location, cute lobby and room appointing. Perfect for a short stay where you don’t need to spend any time in the hotel as it’s shared bathrooms and the rooms have low light. A gem for Silverlake staying though!
