The woman who runs this shop is astonishingly rude, abrasive and arrogant. There is NO way she can be the owner ... she literally told an American customer to 'not bother coming back' after she had spent over $400! As she shouted at this customer all the others walked out in horror ... how much business was lost??! Here's how it played out ... The American woman was gathering items and asking the prices of others from time to time. This clearly irritated the manageress, as her angry response to two of the enquiries was 'It's written on the shelf you know!'. In one case it wasn't , but there was no apology forthcoming when this was revealed. In the other case it was, but was concealed by the item itself. Again, no suggestion of an apology. Eventually when the woman had finished with her purchases the manageress began scanning them - in a very laboriously slow fashion that had us all chomping at the bit. Suddenly she looked up and barked at the woman "I'm going as fast as I can!". The woman said "I wasn't complaining", to which she said "Well then stop drumming your fingers on the counter!". Everybody stood aghast, and waited for her to finish. She took the card payment - for an amount of GBP320 . The woman picked up her bags and before leaving said "You know, I've spent over $400 here and you have not been very nice to me." What happened next was breathtaking. The manageress laid into her, accusing her of trying to solicit a discount, loudly asking the other customers whether they felt she had been rude (which she certainly had), and then said 'I couldn't give a toss about being nice to you. This is a shop. Don't bother coming back!" At that point everybody walked out. The shop is very small and extremely pricey. Perhaps it's 'captive audience syndrome' - being the only Tintin shop in London - that makes this woman believe she can behave like this and still get lots of trade. But if I were the owner of that shop and I learned of this I would have no hesitation in booting her right out the door! It is shocking and unacceptable. So, sadly, I would suggest rather going to the one in Belgium!

Edit: The owner's reply to this review only further cements my negative opinion of this location. A pandemic should be no excuse to mince words. You should be prepared to receive negative feedback like an adult. Avoid this store at all costs. I very excitedly visited this store back in 2013, since as an American Tintin fan my options for merchandise are very limited. My visit was not a pleasant one however. I'm both relieved and disappointed that I'm not the only one who had an unpleasant experience here. This was primarily because of a lady working here who had an awful attitude towards me and felt the need to butt into conversations where she was not welcome. I had mentioned to a relative that a few books in the series had been banned in my local library, and this woman angrily chimed in to tell me I was dead wrong and that "no books have been banned, don't spread lies." I'm not exactly sure how a lady from London could know the banned book list of a random Midwestern US library, but she seemed pretty sure of herself. The encounter turned me off of buying anything there. She was also very stingy about photos being taken inside the store, which was fair enough. But her attitude towards customers is toxic. Despite my visit being so long ago, I have no doubt this woman was the same woman mentioned in so many of the reviews on this page. It's disappointing that her attitude over the years has seemingly not changed at all, and that she's still employed at this location. And this is all without mentioning that it's very overpriced here. Highly recommend others avoid this place.

We went to the Tintin shop to exchange two t-shirts that were ordered online and unfortunately did not fit, this was all explained and agreed by email with the manager of the shop beforehand. However, because the tshirts were no longer in their plastic wrapping (they still had their tags and were in perfect condition, having only been tried on once) she refused to exchange them for their original value (24 pounds each) arguing she would have to sell them on sale. I am not sure how I was supposed to try them on without removing the wrapping... I got a bit annoyed by this argument and the way she was talking to us and tried to defend my rights as a customer but the manager accused me of being aggressive (I did not shout and was not being rude) and said she would only be able to sell them for 10 pounds. After I gave up trying to defend myself as I could see she wasn't prepared to listen, she suddenly changed her mind and said she could sell them for £17.95 (it seems the more you defend yourself, the more money she takes from you). In the end we lost 6 pounds for absolutely no valid reason and had to face a very rude and unprofessional manager who does not seem to care one bit about her customers. Incredible. This is a great shop but I really didn't appreciate her tone of voice and how she treated us so I will not go back.

I've been visiting this shop and buying from their website for years. I disagree with other reviews on here as I always receive a warm welcome in the shop and items ordered via the website are despatched quickly and well packed. The odd time I've had an issue they've resolved it promptly and with courtesy. What people need to remember is that this shop is like a small boutique and many of the items they sell are fragile and/or limited edition. It isn't 'Toys R Us' and therefore you need to respect the shop for what it is. I've seen it myself when I've visited where visitors are picking things up that clearly have 'do not touch' signs on them and then get mardy when they are reprimanded. Whilst I don't condone poor service also understand that they must get sick to death of people simply going in to pick things up and rifling through things with little or no intention of buying. The prices reflect the time and quality that goes into producing these goods, many being collector's pieces. It isn't a toy shop.I speak as I find and have loved this little gem of a shop for many years. I'm not associated with the store or the staff but after reading some of the negative reviews i felt they were unfair and inaccurate.

I'm no retail professional, but my advice to them would be not to be so incredibly rude to customers who are trying to take a genuine interest in their store. When I tried to pay a compliment by saying 'it's a shame you're not bigger' (a comment on how busy the shop was, and how much business they must be getting from it), one of the staff members (maybe the owner?) retorted with 'If you want a bigger shop go to Marks and Spencer'. I was taken aback by this, as I was genuinely trying to say something nice about them. I'll be honest, it tainted an otherwise fantastic trip to London. If I was a rude, awkward customer I could understand this sort of defensive behaviour - but I certainly didn't expect to be snapped at for trying to say something nice about their business... especially since this conversation happened as we were handing over money for a transaction. The range of Tintin memorabilia they stock is fantastic, and it's a lovely store... it's just a shame that this lady clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to take it out on me.

I was hesitant at first to visit the shop after hearing some less than satisfactory reviews of it, particularly regarding the store's apparent rude owner. But being a Tintin fan, I had to go no matter what. As I entered I saw 2 people, a man and a woman (the latter I think was the owner, going by the descriptions I've read), behind the counter packing things into boxes. I was served by the man and he was just your typical shop assistant but he was very nice. The woman was mainly in the back room but when she did appear she was singing along to the tunes playing in the store or chatting to her assistant. Maybe she's changed her tune for the better since the last reviews were posted or I just caught her on a good day, who knows? Anyway, regarding the shop: it is small, but it is well organised. Some stuff is a little pricey, like the figurines, but it is good quality stuff. (Eg the Snowy plushie I purchased came in its own fancy box and was really soft and cute and I love him to bits.)

  • Jess

the woman who works here is appallingly rude. I went there to get my dad a postcard as a surpise bc we literally went there and brought stuff every weekend when I was a kid; I took a quick selfie by a shelf to send him and she yelled at me and my friends to move out the way for another customer (when we where already trying to move for him its a TINY store) and then she started barking to said customer about how we were just there take to photos? both in a very bitter and condensing tone. Dont know what urked her to even mention it, especially to another random customer. I said actually I was planning on buying something (which i had been saying since to my friends since we got in the store and considering she was staring at me slack-jawed the entire time theres no way she didnt hear) but not anymore. I went to check reviews and as you can see they all mention her. how on earth does she still have a job.

Today I visited the Tintin shop at floral street, I have been visiting this shop since 2000,, its kind of my annual pilgrimage (as my daughter likes to put it), in each visit I picked up few things to add on my collection. The staff has been helpful, friendly and polite. Though they do not really allow you to take much photograph inside the shop. There is so much to see and buy, wish I had lot of money. Normally I keep aside my birthday and Christmas gift cash and spend it here. I see some comments here about the staff being rude, however being an Asian I never experienced such however my experience always been good and friendly, and that is the reason I like to visit the shop. Off course I have been reading Tintin since I was a little boy, may be 1974 or before. Keep up Tintin shop, I look forward to visit you again during my Annual visit to the UK

  • ken ngai-foong

I read a lot of negative comments from others, but being a tintin fan since i was a kid, i still had to make the visit Went once but too late as the shop was closed at 5.30. Went again another day and was pleasantly surprised that the woman who attended to me was quite nice. She even opined that the size i chose wouldnt fit me and brought out another from inside the store. Agree that the price is a bit on the high side but being a niche market, it needs to otherwise will have gone under which will be a big loss to fans. Plenty of items from books, tees, figurines, souvenirs etc to choose. Would not mind visiting again if have the chance.

  • Jorge Peris

Have you read in the previous reviews that the personal of the shop are rude, grumpy, unhelpful and ill-tempered? Well, they are absolutely spot on. I am a Tintin lover and came by this shop a couple of years ago motivated and eager to buy - I left empty-handed. Some years later went there again and had the same experience: the shop assistant (the owner?) was rude and unhelpful, she told me I had to leave because she was about to close (it was 17:15 and, apparently, the shop closes at 17:30) and grumpy. Once again, I left with nothing. It is a pity that these people are the ones running a shop such as this one. An utter pity for all Tintin lovers.

  • Shamma Tasnim/COMMUNICATIONS/BRAC

Hi this is Shamma from Bangladesh. My husband and I visited this store last month. The store undoubtedly had some amazing collections; however we were not treated well by the store staff there. Firstly, it is only normal that we will take pictures when we visit stores like this, while I was taking pictures, the sales person complained to my husband about it! Maybe she thought I didn’t know how to speak in English! Secondly, they greeted all other customers, except for us! Lastly, they were almost irritated when we said we would like to pay separately for the things we bought. to the store but to the store staff.

  • Ex Army Paz 49 TALKS

At first I was pleasantly surprised to see this shop just by chance, however the whole experience was soured by the rude woman behind the counter. All I asked was if they stocked 'Tintin in the Congo' and what I got back was 'We don't stock racist items in this shop.' she made me feel like everything was too much trouble and even tutted at one point. I think she'd be happier stocking shelves in a supermarket during a night shift where she'll be nowhere near any customers to insult. It's a damn shame she spoils the shop and clearly the catalyst behind most of the bad reviews here...sack her, sack her now.

  • James Kay

Visiting London in a few weeks. Was looking forward to going to this shop as a big Tintin fan. Not so sure now after reading all the dreadful reviews. But I will and will report my findings on here. One thing I will never tolerate is rudeness especially from shop/restaurant staff. So owner beware. Cross me and you will be sorry. It costs nothing to be nice to people, especially if they are giving you money. Having now visited the shop I must say I was impressed by the shop, its range of merchandise and the lady who served me. Nothing was too much trouble. I would on the basis of my visit recommend it.

  • cihan

I was pretty glad to found this shop but doens't worth to ruin your day. As written in many comments below, owner was so rude, when I told her what she did was wrong, she offered me a refund (which I never mentioned) then she told me that I like to argue :) then I left silently. I bought a Tintin figure in a raincoat which is pretty nice but don't bother to have something from there. I wish I could recommend and visit there again. So sad. It is not just a shop, It is The Heritage of Hergé, people should be more carefull about the attitude not to ruin the memory of him.

  • macedonboy

The Tintin shop is a must for fans of the comic book. If you can't get to the Tintin stores in Belgium, then this is possibly the next best thing. Everything related to Tintin, books, models, postcard, t-shirts are all available here. Having been to the Tintin stores in Belgium and Singapore, this particular store is very small in comparison. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of Tintin memorabilia here, but I've been to comic stores in Belgium with bigger Tintin collections. Prices are also pretty high, even considering it's a specialist store and in covent gardens.

  • Forty Niner

I’m a big fan of Tintin and have all the graphic novels. They’re all well written and I really like Herge’s drawings. So I was delighted to find this shop and hoped I could finally get my elusive ‘Tintin in the Congo’ edition. However the dried up old soak in there must not realise she’s running a shop that requires her to smile and be nice to customers. The reaction she gave me was as if I’d asked her to see her breasts rather than if she had that particular book I wanted. Or perhaps she just wondered in off the street. Who knows?

  • Carl Reed

Tinting shop is an amazing shop. I love going in there. They're so kind, caring, and the gifts that they have in there of my favourite books. Tintin figurines tinting t-shirts that I got. My first Tintin t-shirt was so absolutely amazing. The staff are very kind and I would definitely go in there again and definitely recommend it to anybody that goes into London. It always reminds me of my childhood when I read these books and I know a different generation now can read these books and enjoy them as much as I can

  • José Bartolomeu Pimentel Leite Júnior

The worst service one can get from a store in London. The sales woman, who is probably the owner, was extremely rude and unpleasant and treated the costumers as if she was doing them a favour. Being a great TinTin fan I was very turned off by that and just felt like storming out of the store after purchasing my t-shirt. The experience was terrible. Maybe she should spend an afternoon at Harry Potter´s Warner Bros studios...that staff is really great and how to be nice to fans. I am just very sorry for TinTin.

  • Alana

Please listen to the reviews, I wish I had read them before visiting as had a bad experience, which was upsetting as Jane the owner was very unfriendly and seems to try and twist things to always blame the customer when they are not at fault in any way. For your own peace of mind, I recommend you avoid this shop. You can buy these products elsewhere without been treated with contempt. The owner will do anything to spoil your joy and tarnish your day. Don't put yourself through it, it's not worth it.

  • Mat Roff

The store itself is lovely. I popped in to grab a few things whilst I was in London, but like many people in the comments are saying the opening times are crazy to me and hard to fit around if your only in the city for a short time to do something. The lady behind the counter was very much in a hurry to close it and lost a sale as she wanted to shut. Real shame as it put me off returning too. Never experienced anything like it.

  • J. A.

This should be 5 stars unless I had to wait 20 minutes outside in the rain since they were closed at 11AM when they should open. Rain in London and delays commuting the reason why. Well inside looked thru some of the cars I was intetested in, bought the jeep and a puzzle. Being a big Tintin fan since young age, this store is paradise. Small but still sufficient with stuff to browse around and to buy. I recommend this place.

  • Lindsay Work

Ordered one of the resin models as a gift on the Wednesday morning and it arrived on the Thursday afternoon! It was very carefully packaged and arrived in pristine condition. The quality of the model and the attention to detail is excellent. I've ordered items a few times from the store and the service has been consistently good, I'll continue to place orders and will visit in person if I'm ever in London.

  • Antonio del Valle

I am a big fan of Tintin and I buy in this shop frequently, as it is the only one in London for Tintin products as far as I know. I love the items there but I have to agree with other comments that the staff is not friendly at all, sometimes being quite rude. It is a shame because you would expect staff in a pricey shop like this being very friendly. On top of that the opening hours are very limited.

  • Chris Williams

Thought I was at fault but reading all these I see it wasn’t me. In a friendly, chatty way, and factually correct, I said how small it was (for how busy it must get). She said I could always go to one of the bigger department stores. I tried to politely backtrack, but now I know that it wasn’t me - it was just a rude woman. After reading all these I wish I had gone somewhere else.

  • R R

Having been a TinTin fan from the age of 5, I like my TinTin merchandise. However, Judy, the lady that manages this store is unbelievably rude and unhelpful, which is really sad as I'm sure all TinTin fans that pop into the shop want a positive experience. My advice would be to avoid this store. The owner knows as much about TinTin as she does about customer service.

  • Jo Randell

Visited the shop today with my neurodiverse 11 year old son whose birthday it was. Staff were really patient and kind with him, whilst he chose what he wanted to buy with his birthday money. Helped him count out how much, he needed and worked out the change, and then let him choose a free gift. One very happy birthday boy, so thank you so much for this kindness!

  • Sofía Pomponio

Was just in London for a few days. Mon-Wed the shop it’s closed so I had to wait till Thursday (my last day in the city) but they didn’t feel like opening. Got there at opening time, nobody showed up. Came back later in the afternoon, still closed. What’s the point of having such an unique shop if you’re never gonna be open? It was such a disappointment.

  • Nathan Ramirez

I absolutely loved this store, as a huge fan of Tintin, the store was everything I wanted it to be. Being from the US, we don't have anything close to a Tintin shop, it was amazing to see all the comics, figures, etc. in person. I will say everything is pretty pricey, however we were able to grab a couple key chains and postcards for a reasonable price.

  • Wendy Hughes

Brilliant little shop, with lots of TinTin nick nacks. I loved the activity pack we brought home for our 8year old but ended up half the family having a go at the quiz! Very knowledgeable polite staff and well worth a visit. You will not go away empty handed! (Have been to shops in Paris and Brussels too, always something to find!)

  • Cheryl Hung

A delightful surprise, somewhat off the beaten track between Soho and Oxford St. This shop stocks all things related to the famous Belgian detective and his dog, not just soft and hardback copies of the comics but calendars, mugs, stationary, figurines and soft toys. A gift shop adventure for all Tintin lovers!

  • Panthera

I’m a big Tintin fan and I was excited to know that there’s the Tintin shop in London. But I was hesitant due to the bad reviews, claiming that the owner was rude. I decided to check that out and I had no issues at all. I left the shop with a few action figures and a smile on my face. I would go there again.

  • Nate Chang

I missed visiting the store because I didn't know I was visiting the UK during a bank holiday, but I can say that their online service was excellent. Fast shipping, quick delivery even across the pond, their notebooks are great, and they even sent along some stickers and a bag - thank you!

  • S P

Had a great experience with an older gentleman who was an excellent salesman and very informative. The negative reviews must be from people who clearly are expecting a massive shop stacked to the rafters with simpering employees - This is a proper little gem and filled with good people.

  • Tony Zawk

What a horrible person who runs this place. I wonder how she ventured into the TinTin universe. I was looking forward to finally seeing the shop where I have bought many things online but the lady is horrible horrible horrible and so condescending. If only Google allowed expletives...

  • Kiran M

This is a really wonderful little shop hidden in Covent Garden. Tintin fans are sure to love this store filled with comics, model cars, figurines and so much more. The lady who runs the store was very kind to us, and the conversation we had made it clear she must really love Tintin.

  • Bing Hoh

Everything the Tintin enthusiast could ever want in London! You can get copies of all the Tintin titles, including long-forgotten early editions such as Tintin in the Land of the Soviets. Keep an eye for the inexpensive souvenirs - the keychains and posters make wonderful gifts!

  • Guillaume Bournisien

  • Gustavo

I walked into the store, but the saleswoman was talking on the phone and pretended that I did not exist. After reading the reports about the quality of the service, I even thought it was good that she pretended that I did not exist ... rsrs

  • Kate McKenzie

I agree totally with an earlier comment. The woman behind the counter was very rude and made me feel a nuisance. She spoilt what is usually a pleasant experience . I would not buy anything or even enter the shop if I saw her there again .

  • James A

Honestly can’t believe this place - the customer service is shocking! Does the woman in there know how terrible these reviews are? Had a couple of simple enquiries and felt like I was being told off like a naughty school kid.

  • Pate Atartiner

Great shop but the opening hours are so ridiculous. Also sometimes they decide they don’t want to work, close the shop and put a note on the door saying they had a problem or something and they won’t open. So annoying.

  • Alice Carpentier

Très petite boutique, peu de produits dérivés, mais idéal pour trouver une BD, un porte clé ou une figurine. Malgré la petite taille et le peu de variété dans les produits proposés c'était mignon à voir.

  • youyou tube

Little gift store near covent garden. Good to stop by if you are a fan of Tintin. Though it's quite small, it's actually specialized in the selection of Tintin goods and images. I found it interesting.

  • GuardianofGasti

Absolute Lengeds! the shop clerks were fun to interact with and their website shop is extremely kind and helpful, recently had one figure sent wrong and they are already on it fixing the issue!

  • Sophie Hook

Ordered a product through the website, there was a slight issue with my order but the problem was resolved very quickly with excellent professionalism. Can recommend ordering from the website.

  • John Field

I took my son to The Tintin Shop yesterday. The assistant was extremely helpful (T-shirt sizes) and had a little chat with my daughter. All-in-all, visiting the shop was a lovely experience.

  • Rebecca Appleby-Dean

I've shopped in person here and most recently ordered online. Both time the service was really lovely and speedy! It's such a lovely shop to get treats for me and presents for my husband!

  • Lucy Boyle

What an amazing and prompt service from Jacky. She sorted out a damaged item very quickly. I wish all shops had this level of service and customer focus. Well done and thank you again.

  • JEI

Ordered gift online. They delivered the gift to the wrong address and the surprise was ruined. Contacted them and they didn't seem to give a crap! Awful customer service. Be aware.

  • George Pollard

If you're a Tintin fan, it's essential! So many beautiful items as well as all the books of course. Wanted to come away with a full set of the cars on display, but held back!!

  • HoneyBunch

Have very fond memories of going here as a kid. It's still as wondrous as ever. Their online shopping experience is superb. Lightning fast courier delivery. Wonderful service!

  • Matt Connell

Slightly surreal experience with (assume) the owner today. Echoing other negative experiences she was surprisingly rude, abrupt and made the experience generally unpleasant.

  • Keith Underwood

First of all a great selection of Tin Tin merchamdise, however I also discovered that the lady behind the counter is unfriendly and very abrupt to the point of being rude.

  • A P

First I was pleasantly suprised then ended up facing the most unpleasant and psycho-rigid owner ever. Limited choice, high prices and definitely unwelcoming place. Avoid.
