I have had the misfortune of hiring now 9 girls from UT on a rotating schedule( when they have availability). I know a total of 12 girls that have either recently graduated, are in nursing programs, or 2 that are currently in masters programs, the 9 that worked/Ing for me are either recent grads, in their masters program, or a rising senior... So... now of these girls, even though they are nice have any queslificariona to work.. 6 out 9 which 3 of those 6 are or were in honors programs. Have no clue what they are going to do after school. Most complained about the treatment and the overall vibe of the campus. The 4 out of 12 girls that I know are graduated and with a Bachelors degree in Nursing or teaching can’t even find a job and are working in low level paying jobs... practically a step up from min. Wage. This university does not produce graduates that have a impact on the world. The quality of person who is going here 8 out of 10 is not the person you want working for you... This is a school for people who are good test takers but not ready or prepared to be in the real world at all... Go to bigger school that’s not private - private universities answer to know one which is not so good.. especially when it comes to the quality of graduates they are producing and putting out into the world. Which seems subpar at best. Save yourself the hassle, go to a public university. Like USF is bigger, better diversity, better teachers, bigger endowment, better statics with the type of person they produce back into the working world. Location is nice because it’s downtown but just remember not everything that glitters is gold...

Search history- During its operating period from 1891 to 1930, the hotel housed thousands of guests, including hundreds of celebrities. When the Spanish–American War broke out, Plant convinced the United States military to use his hotel as a base of operations. Generals and high-ranking officers stayed in its rooms to plan invasion strategies, while enlisted men encamped on the hotel's acreage. Colonel Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders also were at the hotel during this time. Roosevelt retained a suite, and during the day led his men in battle exercises on the property. The Tampa Bay Hotel closed in 1930 as the Great Depression severely curtailed tourism. It remained empty and unused for three years. In late 1933, the Tampa Bay Junior College was allowed to move into the hotel, using the old suites as classrooms and offices. Because of the large amount of space afforded by the hotel, the scope of the junior college was expanded, becoming the University of Tampa. The Tampa Municipal Museum was established by the city to preserve the hotel in its original form and co-exist with the newly established University. Today, besides serving as offices and classrooms for the University of Tampa, the entire south wing of the building is dedicated to preserving the glory days of the old Tampa Bay Hotel. Various rooms in the wing display authentic artifacts from the old hotel, many of which were purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Plant themselves on various European shopping trips. (Wikipedia)

I don't usually bother to write reviews - but I think this could really help someone trying to decide what college to goto. Quick overview: transferred from USF into the college of business needing about 3 semesters worth of classes till I could graduate. Major was MIS. UT felt very project and learning based, as apposed to USF which was very much memorize for the test sort of direction. Almost all of my teachers were good at teaching and nice people as well. The emphasis on learning and not so much the importance of being great at tests really aligned well with my previous learning as someone who was home-schooled growing up. I went from struggling to get more than 1 B and a bunch of Cs at USF's college of business to all As and 2 Bs or so in my last 13 or so classes I took at UT, and the hardest classes I've taken. I can't vouch for any other department but the college of business I think is really quite good, and this is coming from someone who tends to argue against college always being the best option. This being said things could have changed - I graduated in dec 2010 so take this with a grain of salt.

Beautiful school in a great location, however, if you're looking for a good school with good academics DO NOT COME HERE. The nice look of the school and large dorm rooms is about all it has to offer. As a freshman I went through three advisors in one year without any notification of having mine switched, and I also told my current advisor that I am transferring several times; but I keep receiving emails from them telling me I still have to register for next semester. The advisors here are not really that helpful at all. When you contact any facilities they either take weeks to respond, or do not respond at all. The grading scale is also very odd, so take a look at that as well. My first semester I had all A's and one AB and that brought my GPA down to a 3.8, when in most colleges an A- will bring your GPA down to around 3.9. The wifi is almost nonexistent unless you're using a computer in the library. Please do not invest your money here and go to a more accredited and student friendly college, so you do not have to waste time and stress looking to transfer out of here like many freshman do.

This is a beautiful and Historic campus. Created On the side of Henry Plant's Tampa Bay Hotel, famous as the mustering site for Teddy Roosevelt and the Roughriders prior to their disembarkment To Cuba for the Spanish-American war. The hotel founder lobbied strongly for Teddy Roosevelt and his officers to come to Tampa.Their stay in Tampa helped put the city on the map. There is nice museum that preserves the flavor of the hotel in the 1890s. The hotel was considered luxurious for its time, the first hotel in Florida to have electric lights and telephones in each room. In 1919 Babe Ruth hit his longest home run in a preseason game at Plant Field, the plant Hotel Stadium. The campus is situated on the Hillsborough River which is an excellent venue for rowing. Every year Ivy League college crew teams spend their spring break here taking advantage of the enviable rowing course. Many walkways and statues from the original plant park have been maintained on the campus.

Would give it a 0 if I could. Have attended 3 different universities and finished here. Tampa is the greatest city I've ever lived in but the most disorganized and disfunctional university going. TO FUTURE STUDENTS as soon as you graduate they will do NOTHING for you and pretend they don't even know you. I graduate 2 months ago and went with family to walk the campus and was kicked off for parking in teachers parking as it's for students only after hours (parking lot was empty). Cornered by security and explained I just graduated etc and just walking the property with my family and dog and they escorted us back to the car and right off the property. Grads are apparently NOT welcome back.

GREAT school, great opportunities and lots of support from the professors. beautiful campus. Small classes ... Overall VERYnice and accessible professors. Has very GOOD reputation. USF is ghetto in comparison. You cannot compare the two, USF is large, UGLY school - with HUGE classes and UT is smaller College and private and beautiful and small classes. USF has state tuition which is good for those on a budget. UT will give scholarships to good students. HIGHLY RECOMMEND University of Tampa.

As a Tampa native let's just say I am proud this University represents this city. Campus is full of beautiful victorian-era architecture, wonderful staff where I happen to have a dear friend who is a professor here as well and from her standpoint has the same high opinion of the school as well. Not to mention they host a wide variety of community events and have a wonderful Museum on campus

This is a high ranking, excellent university. When considering which school to attend, any prospective student should visit this campus before making a selection. My wife, Dorinda Garcia Davison and I both graduated from this outstanding institution and were married the same day.......forty nine years ago. Now, our grandchildren are considering attending UT!

Excellent University. Our son is about to graduate and had one of the best life experiences attending there. Campus is beautiful, well maintained and always expanding. As a private university, we found that the overall costs to attend was less than our own so called state schools up north. Always warm and sunny in Tampa!

Make sure to ask the professor what percentage is the final exam because sometimes it’s almost half of the grade and watch YouTube on how to videos for class your going to takeexample the class your taking if it’s a writing exam ask if you have an example of what pass the class when they wrote the exam.

This is a beautiful and historic campus that is as much a part of Florida as the alligators and the swamps. This would be a lovely place to go for an education because it is close to everything in Tampa, literally within biking or walking distance to a lot of fun activities for students.

My oldest is in her second year here. It’s a cute little campus that is clean and feels safe. The dorm rooms she’s had have been a typical size and also clean.
