I went for a walk around Yeadon Tarn with my ex-husband and our two daughters (4 and 6) and we decided to have food afterwards. One of the girls pointed to the White Swan, and I told my ex to check that children would be allowed in early evening on a Saturday night. The staff said it was fine and served us drinks, and then we asked if they were still serving food and they said they were but we'd need to order soon. I was hesitant to go in initially because I'm not actually that keen on trying places I've never been before, especially without recommendations, but it was absolutely delicious food and so nicely presented! The staff were very friendly too - the man joked about my eldest not eating all her peas so she wouldn't be allowed pudding! Thankfully she listens to other people - just not to us... The girls both had a children's portion of fish and chips, my ex had the veggie burger and I had the lamb shank with sweet potato mash and vegetables. We also shared a camembert starter, and finished off with puddings - I had the cheesecake (tropical lime today, I think), my ex had the apple and blueberry crumble (another that changes, so check what it is), my eldest had a brownie and the youngest had ice cream. The bill came to just over £60, which was very reasonable considering the quality of the food. I didn't manage to get pictures of everything because they were too eager to get stuck in, but the pics I have included give you an idea of what you can expect. Definitely a place I'd like to visit again sometime! And I'm sure my eldest will enjoy playing along with the Countdown-style conundrums on the television again (she even got one right!). Absolutely recommend - one of the most enjoyable meals I've had in months, and I eat out quite frequently, so that's really saying something.

We booked for a family get together as my brother was over from Canada. We had a buffet as we thought this would be best. When we arrived we were on the little stage area that wasn't big enough for us all and we were very cramped. When the food came it was just randomly put on people's tables due to the lack of space. The food was not worth what we paid per head. My Sister went to the bar to ask to speak to someone as we were not satified and was told that someone would come to speak to her, which they didn't. We had some vegetarians with us and I had asked in advance if some of the quiches could be veggie and if they could put some extra cheese sandwiches on instead of meat for said veggies. That didn't happen, in fact the quiche never happened, we got chicken strips instead but not enough and obviously these were no good for the veggies. I sent an e mail after ( as people went home hungry) about the problems and was basically told that after speaking to the staff there was excessive food left ( the only excess was the pork pies because there was a mountain of them served up to compensate for veg quiches and they were not very good anyway) and was told We should have said something on the day and as there were two chefs on if we had mentioned the veggie options something would have been done, we did try to sort it on the day, I had asked weeks in advance about the veggie options and I'm sorry but I can make quiche so surely chefs can. It's not like we dropped in unexpected. She basically called us liars and the customer service after was diabolical. At the swan the customer is only right when saying something good about them ( as i found out when reading other reviews) Very rude and no one from our party will ever go back.

The white swan is one of the nicest environments in yeadon. It's large interior is very well decorated and furnished to a higher standard than most places in the area. It really does feel warm and welcoming when you walk in. The staff are quick and efficient, but are maybe not as warm as the building itself. They do their job well enough though and you are unlikely to be left waiting long to be served. The selection of drinks is about as wide and varied as you'd expect a local hotel bar to be. It's very good, but maybe could be better. **Having been back to the bar for a proper look around, this may be unfair. There is a very good variety for all tastes.** I haven't ever had a bad pint poured though and it's always been a decent drink. As fantastic as the interior is, it is the outdoor seating area that really sets this place apart from the rest in the area. A fantastically built and furnished deck area to the rear really catches the sun wonderfully and it even overlooks Yeadon Cricket Club's playing field. It truly is a great summer day sat enjoying a pint in the sun watching local cricket. The facilities are ground floor and well kept. I have not rated 5 stars as I have not yet had the pleasure to eat here or enjoy the hotel side of the business. But from what I have heard from those staying here (mostly geordie truck drivers), it is a favourite for those needing accommodation in the area. Well worth a visit. Especially on a sunny summers day.

A real disappointment! After passing this place many times decided to give it a try before we were due to fly. Walking in the place, we were greeted by loud music and a pretty empty pub. We were offered a choice of 2 tables both in the bar area whilst there was a restaurant area we weren’t offered this, the service was very slow taking 2.5 hours to finish our meal.l, there was only 2 other tables occupied. The food itself was mediocre, fairly expensive, one of our party ordered veg sausage and mash, the staff member didn’t install confidence that it was actually vegetarian. My meal was the Spanish chorizo, I think they left the chorizo in Spain as only found 3 tiny pieces. The burgers and fish and chips looked good. There was no check backs on any of the food. It felt more like eating in a work canteen than a pub/restaurant coupled with the slow service mediocre food I believe there is much better value for money available locally.

Short review: + Hotel is no so far from airport (walk distance) + Near the hotel is nice lake + Nice rooms + Cable TV + Kettle, coffee, tea, bottle of water + Near is Morrisom shop (usefull for breakfest) - Noise of airplane - Missing informations for guest like WIFI password, restaurant menu, chceck out information... - Not enough toilet paper - No EU adapetr for electric plug - Lot of stairs Description: We stuck here due cancelled flyght (fog). Our room was attic room no. 6. This room is accessible only by lot of stairs. After one day on airport we went to sleep early. Before it we tried get fast dinner in bar, but there were lot of people (there wer futbal match on TV). We asked waitree for a menu, but we did not get it. After 15 - 20 minutes we went for dinner to another restaurant (Murgatroyds). But I do not recomended.

What an absolute shambles!! Booked a table which was fine, arrived early & got a table. Ordered our food at 6.12pm & when we chased it at 7.15pm it had been give to somebody else. Apparently there was a problem with their booking system & it was double/triple booking tables. There were queues right round the restaurant but nobody seemed to be explaining what was going on. I am sure that if told it could have given people the option to go elsewhere. Tables were not being cleared. The whole thing was badly managed. We got a full refund but that is not the point. I was hungry & ended up with a portion of chips from Murgatroyds. it is a shame as I have eaten there before & was very nice but I won’t ever go back again now.

Stayed here for 2 nights and ate for dinner both times. It was a great experience! We were only booked for 1 day but our plane out of Leeds Bradford Airport (only 5 minutes away!) was canceled and they let us book an extra day on the spot, no problem. Very responsive to email. The rooms are nice and clean, good water pressure in the shower, parking on the premises. They will pre-arrange a taxi for you to the airport or they give you the numbers to easily arrange one yourself which is great. Dinner was fabulous - the rice pudding, steak and ale pie, and butternut squash pasty (the seasonal specials!) were all delicious but the service was definitely slow, so keep that in mind.

This is a review that I can't quite settle on what I'm going to say. First of all I want to say that the staff we saw were friendly, & the food we had (5 people) was enjoyed. However, walking in & being shown to our booked table & there being a Bingo session going on was a tad odd. I thought this pub was more of a 'gastro' pub, but the bingo session was confusing. We decided not to sit at our reserved table, until the bingo finished, because it felt like we had to talk in hushed tones. It was just odd. In conclusion, the food, wine & real ale was all great, the ambiance/bingo experience not so great. I feel this is a fair representation.

Good beer , great tapas , and the staff were friendly amusing and very funny . . Michelle and Goose made me very welcome and we had a good old Yorkshire laugh. The only downside was no breakfast . I think they should go back to serving breakfast . The bathroom could have had little shower gel or shampoos. They do provide bottles of water and tea and coffee. I know Michelle or Goose will read this ,so I challenge you to go into room 2 and try to open a bottle of water ( I'm sure you've glued the tops on ) that besides , Thanks for your service and your great company, I shall return. A refurbed roadside pub offering 6 real Ales which were in good condition. Friendly service and very clean. Sunday roasts looked good value and very popular. Sadly the refurb didn't include double glazing the bedrooms facing the busy High St right outside although the room was well appointed and comfortable. BUT, I have been duped into paying £90 to stay on a Sunday night, only to be told they don't do breakfast - ie NO Breakfast at all. This is quite ridiculous, so BE AWARE!

Well as you asked for my reasoning for only 2 stars. I visited for the first time on Saturday (drink only). Left bemused as to what the establishment is trying to be with the confused styling. Clearly thinks it is a cut above based on the drinks prices (and card only, really, this is not Leeds city centre). Sadly however, just glancing around the general level of cleanliness was not good. The staff were quite disinterested, and slow at clearing tables after diners had left. To be fair the place was quite busy with diners so perhaps the food is good, but sadly my first impression wasn't.

  • gary stephenson

I visited today and the food was fine but the beef was fantastic but unfortunately the service was very very poor, we ordered our drinks and had to wait a considerable amount of time for them to arrive and it wasn’t overly busy, no one checked to see if our meal was fine and once we had finished we sat waiting with empty glasses wanting dessert which no one bothered to ask if we’d like a dessert or another drink. After a very long time we chose to approach a member of staff at the bar to pay our bill. It’s a shame as we were looking forward to a better experience and we won’t return.

  • Phillip Turner

Booked today for a nice family Sunday lunch and wasn’t disappointed. 4 of us had the Jacobs ladder beef rib. At £14.95 I have to say that, if anything, it feels underpriced. The beef was beautifully cooked, literally falling from the bone. Accompanied by roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots, a huge Yorkshire pudding, some stuffing and a jug of gravy, it was certainly a hearty meal. The service, as always, was fantastic and the Imperial Stout is a cracking pint. The hygiene measures made us all feel comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Thank you and great work

The food was shocking nice location for a drink but expensive paying £2.20 for a can from a multi pack when I told a staff member they sed they would tell the manager the manger of this pub is extremely rude no people skills at all and reading the other reviews no wonder it was dead save a trip and go else where plenty of nice pubs nearby message for manger train your staff to have better people skills and read your most recent reviews then ask yourself why your pub is empty

The pub is very nice inside shame about the staff and manager if your going for a drink it's OK but I would definitely avoid food my son's wrap had go be redone as was burt asked for some butter for my sandwich didn't get any when we came out with friends expect to eat all together that didn't happen staff bickering behind the bar in front of customers as card machine was broken total joke and could think of better place to spend my money on better food tried once but won't be back no wonder the place was empty .

Lovely little pub and not too far from Leeds, which was the reason we stayed here. We had the"triple room", which was fine, if a tad small for three people. We felt the heating wasn't that great, even with the heating on the radiators turned up to max. We had a "bar lunch" in there which again, was acceptable, definitely not poor and not brilliant either, which I suppose was what one would expect for a lunchtime meal in a pub. All in all, it was an on overnight stay and would recommend it for that.

Had a Sunday lunch today with family, 5 adults. Lovely clean pub, warm welcome and good friendly atmosphere. 4 x prawn salad for starters , very impressed , well presented, fresh , tasty and prawns cooked perfectly. 5 roast beef dinners, we each enjoyed them, plenty of tasty veg , succulent beef(generous amount), great roasties, awesome yorkies and very beefy gravy :-) I did not get chance to take a pic of the main as couldn’t wait to tuck in !! Highly recommend.

Impressed by the staff. Booked a wake at the White Swan for a close friend, first impression was how clean & nicely decorated the White Swan is. The service we all received from the staff was 10 out of 10 nothing was a problem (even providing for a gluten free dinner at the last minute) they could have not done more. The food provided was delightful, satisfying portions too, very good value. Would not hesitate in recommending them.

Great food. Went for Sunday lunch - food lovely despite the place being very busy. We were concerned about distancing but were moved to a more acceptable (to us) area to eat. Special mention for Liv, our waitress, who was calm and helpful. It was extremely busy that day and she had a lot to cope with but she was brilliant. About the food, the Sunday roast was good and the creamy mushroom starter was lovely . 5 stars from us :)

Came in on a date with a lovely young man to this charming pub. Walked in and was warmly greeted by a beautiful friendly Scouse lady who showed us to our table. The food was incredible value for money and very nice, the beer choose was also the best I've seen anywhere around yeadon, if not Leeds! Would definitely be back very soon, maybe not with the man I came in with, it was a horrendous date!

I've seen your reply, I booked this room months ago, not 10 days! It was yesterday I phoned up to check all was OK and I mentioned the marathon and now my room is cancelled.....sounds to me you are after a better price! Scandalous2

We really enjoyed our visit to the White Swan on Saturday night. Food was great quality, with a varied and interesting menu with plenty of healthy and gluten free options available. We had kebabs (steak and chimichurri / halloumi and red pepper) but we’ll definitely be back soon to sample the tapas. Good drinks selection available, particularly some great local real ales as well as gins and cocktails, all very reasonably priced.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The room we had was great, there was everything that we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower was lovely. We had food in the pub, which I have to say was fantastic. Next time we go up to Yeadon (which will be in a few weeks), we will definitely be staying there again.

Ordered 2x fish and chips, got served 2 fish pies. Staff didn’t communicate and tell us what they were going to do so were left 5 mins with no clue if we were going to eat. Eventually they brought out the food in a rushed effort and to that end, resulting in a poor meal.
