Nice "little" hotel (12 floors) in the downtown area. Walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. Valet service ONLY available for parking. We weren't happy about this up until you think most hotels charge 30/40 dollars just to park. Here you pay 40 but it is parked for you, and in covered parking. Valet men were extremely friendly and professional. All staff we came across were exceptionally nice and welcoming. We were upgraded to the 12th floor for free. Great views of the downtown area! The breakfast was a shocker. I expected some scrambled eggs, make-your-own waffle machine, and canned cranberry juice. No! You order your breakfast off a nice menu, and it is made to order. We had beef fajitas and eggs, seasoned potatoes, salsa, and tortillas with cold orange juice. Super fresh, hot salsa, and delicious! After a long day of exploring, we appreciated a clean, comfortable bed. All in all, if I am in the downtown area next time, we will choose Whitehall.

Overall Experience: From the moment I arrived at The Whitehall, the ambiance exuded elegance and warmth. The staff, particularly James Barrera, played a pivotal role in making my stay exceptional. The guidance and assistance from managers Aurora and Yeme were invaluable, ensuring every detail of my stay was taken care of. Rooms: My room was a sanctuary of luxury and relaxation. The attention to detail, from the comfortable bedding to the state-of-the-art amenities, showcased the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. Food & Beverages: Dining at The Whitehall was an absolute delight. Each dish was a testament to culinary excellence, and the beverages, especially the cocktails, were crafted with precision. The dining experience was further enhanced by the attentive service provided by the staff. Conclusion: The Whitehall stands out not just for its facilities and offerings but also for its exceptional team. Special thanks to James Barrera, Aurora, and Yeme for their unparalleled service and dedication. I wholeheartedly recommend The Whitehall to anyone seeking a top-tier hospitality experience and look forward to my next visit.

This was probably one of my worst hotel experiences. I was looking forward to that weekend to celebrate my birthday but an hour after I checked in I found a very large roach in my room. I asked for a refund and they told me they could only move me to a new room. When I got to my new room and wiped it down it was disgusting. There's a separate elevated to get to the ice machines , it is old and the floor was very sticky. Another issue that I had was when I asked about the free shuttle that they offer. Every person that I spoke with kept telling me that it was only a few blocks away and that I could just walk. I am handicapped so it was really frustrating to be told that over and over. I still requested the shuttle despite despite them trying to get me to walk. I was not going to walk downtown Houston with my luggage and be in pain. To make everything even worse, I got my itemized receipt and realized I had been overcharged. After leaving multiple messages and never getting a call back... I finally was able to get a hold of someone and I got refunded the money for them overcharging me when I found the bug in my room. The outside of this hotel makes it look amazing but the inside is terrible. Do not waste your money and stay here!

My recent stay at The Whitehall was nothing short of spectacular. Right from the outset, I was impressed by the hotel's grandeur and its prime location. However, it was the staff that truly made my experience unforgettable. James Barrera was a constant source of recommendations and assistance, ensuring I made the most of my stay. Managers Aurora and Yeme were the epitome of professionalism, addressing any queries with grace and efficiency. My room was a delightful blend of modern luxury and classic charm. Waking up to the city views and sinking into the plush bedding at night was a treat I looked forward to each day. The gastronomic offerings at The Whitehall deserve a special mention. Every meal was an adventure, with flavors that danced on the palate and presentations that were a feast for the eyes. The bar's cocktail menu was equally impressive, with each drink being a unique blend of taste and artistry. To sum it up, The Whitehall is a must-visit for anyone seeking an urban oasis with top-notch service. A heartfelt thank you to James Barrera, Aurora, and Yeme for their dedication and for making my trip memorable.

We booked the Whitehall because we were coming into town for a corporate event. The same corporation my husband works for also booked rooms at the Whitehall. The Whitehall over promised on the corporate rooms and bumped us at the last minute. Not only were we bumped, but because it was last minute all the other hotels were full (corporate meetings) So, they put us outside of downtown in a 2 star holiday inn in a bad area. If you are gonna bump us at least put us in a "similar star hotel". The treatment from the staff, and we talked to several was so rude, even another hotel I spoke to and tried to help us found them to be rude. Lesson is, the Whitehall values big corporate money over individual guests. (Sad thing is we are with the same corporation, but because we wanted to specifically pick our hotel we didn't have them book our stay. I will never book the Whitehall or any of their owners properties ever, and we travel a lot. We even confirmed the reservation this morning and all was set up. No word of putting us in a 2 star hotel. Had I known that this morning I could have adjusted, now we are stuck.

So the room was decent enough; spacious, with some strange layout choices. The amenities were pretty good all together. The restaurant food...decent. But what elevated it to 5 stars for me was the staff. Every single staff member interaction I had during my stay was just incredibly pleasant. They were all remarkably friendly, amiable, and sincerely helpful. Quite possibly the nicest hotel staff I have ever encountered. That can make a humdrum trip to Houston of all places so, so much better. Thanks for being so friendly and kind!

The room was spacious and appointed nicely, but the bathroom was oddly cramped and the closet strangely laid out with the safe bolted to the wall in the middle, in prime hanging space.
Walkability
Not terribly walkable, it's a good 5-10 minute walk to anything noteworthy.

I never write poor hotel reviews--especially not for independent hotels, as I believe they're trying their best. Do *not* stay here with expectations of a 4 star hotel. They are clearly struggling beyond reason. There were plumbing issues in my bathroom, the elevator did not work for 90% of our stay meaning we had to climb 7 flights of stairs in the creepy service staircase, three times my room key didn't work and then I had to climb back down the stairs to wait in line to get it fixed because apparently "the locks were being changed" during my visit (meaning a colleague had a utility person open her room door while she was resting to "change the locks"). Ubers took 15+ minutes to arrive to the location so consider this if trying to navigate the city quickly. The absurdity of this experience can't be encapsulated in a review. I recommend you stay elsewhere.

My husband and I have made The Whitehall our go-to downtown H-town hotel, so when I brought my brother and SIL for an Astros game that's where we stayed. The Hotel Receptionist working upon our arrival was John. And y'all, when I say John went 'over and above' to accommodate us, I mean he went OVER AND ABOVE!! After the game we enjoyed a drink from the very cool patio bar (Part & Parcel), along with a bottle of wine in the comfortable and hip lobby. Love this place!! The 4 stars on the Room is only because on this particular stay ours was in need of a little attention (a couple lamps wouldn't work, and the wallpaper in the bathroom had a large white smear of paint, glue, or grout). The beds are incredibly comfy, though, which is really what matters most! Thanks again, John; hopefully we'll see you again soon!!

I stayed overnight at this hotel due to attending a conference there. As soon as I entered the hotel John was rude, did not greet me properly and immediately snapped at me saying he didn’t have any rooms ready for me to check in. I proceeded to my conference then went back to check in later. Ana Maria was there and helped me with a smile. She was patient, helpful and answered my questions. I appreciated her. After my initial interaction with John, I was ready to cancel the reservation I had. My room was nice. The bathroom was really small and the toilet ran loudly every 6 minutes. The shower was nice but the drain was clogged so the water pooled at my feet quickly. Overall my stay was okay. I doubt I would return to this hotel. I have many other options.

It's an excellent place for an older hotel. Location is at the end of downtown and requires a long walk or a short train ride to get to the thick of things but I like quiet. Restaurant is excellent. But the service and the employees were the best of the experience. Very friendly and helpful as is you were the only person they ever cared about. I will go back, and I highly recommended it.

Safety
It's safe simply by being located at the edge of downtown in a quieter area.
Food & drinks
The restaurant at the hotel is enough and less expensive than the restaurants in the area. But if you want other options you can walk out and turn either right or left for more options no more than 5 minute walk.

Wonderful place to stay!!! Can’t say enough of how friendly, accommodating, and approachable the Whitehall staff were to our large 10 plus room reservations. Our family came from all over Texas to celebrate my niece’s Quince. They were able to have our rooms reserved all on one floor. It made our interaction so much easier. John, in the front desk, made us feel so welcoming from the moment we stepped foot into the hotel premises till the time we checked out. Ben, in valet, did an awesome job in taking us to the venue and getting us back home safely. Both very friendly and down to earth. It’s rare for me to write reviews however after my family’s stay at the Whitehall, I knew I had to share my positive experience for others to experience. You will not be let down.

From start to finish, we were simply blown away by John and Saul. They turned a negative into an unbelievable positive. Their can-do attitude is a rarity and customer service these days. If you want more of a family feel this hotel is for you from the first moment you step into the lobby. You will experience that atmosphere. Going to a Rockets game enjoy their complementary shuttle to and from the Toyota center. There professionalism and approach to our family has earned them the right to have us as customers for life!!!! From the valet service to housekeeping, everyone displays a can do attitude!!!! so refreshing to come across this hotel. It has restored my faith in customer service.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Whitehall Hotel, and I must say, it was a truly fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and friendly service from the staff, who went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated, with elegant furnishings and tasteful decor throughout. My room was spacious and well-appointed. The bathroom was clean and modern, with a great shower and plenty of towels. One of the highlights of my stay was at Edgar’s, the hotel's restaurant, which served some of the best food. The service received from Natalie and James was impeccable, and ensured that I had everything I needed.

It’s beautiful and the rooms are amazing !! The only thing I would say is I feel valet, which cost $40, and the $50 that they take for that deposit in the beginning. I know I’m calling at the wrong thing, the amount of money that they take it just in case you break anything or damage anything and it goes right back to you after your stay. That is $50 here. I feel like the $40 for valet was way too expensive, especially since my car ended up being parked literally right where the front door was pretty much across from it. The one good thing. Those of the $40 does come out the 50 that they first charge you for the insurance on your room but it would’ve been nice to know that we’re gonna get charge $50 heading there because the rooms cost so much as it is.

Loved staying at the Whitehall! Their customer service and attention to detail is outstanding. The staff knew my husband and I were getting away for the weekend so they had a bottle of wine in our room when we arrived. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bar on the second floor was great for gathering a few friends that stopped by to exchange gifts. James, the bartender, was very accommodating and very attentive while we were at the bar. He even remembered our names from the night before. Again, attention to detail! Food throughout the weekend was great also. I highly recommend staying at the Whitehall if you are ever in need of a hotel stay in Houston.

This room was gross. There was hair all in the shower & even coming out of the overflow drain. We had to call someone to come fix the shower because it wasn't draining. For $300 a night, it wasn't worth it at all. The bottom of the pool was dirty, so we never even went in the pool. Upon arrival there were no carts for luggage so we had to carry everything in with the kids. & checking in, they didn't even have the correct info on the reservation. We were at the front counter trying to figure it all out for way too long, especially with 2 little kids. Would def not stay here again.

Terrible front desk service. I was double charged for a one night stay. Mistakes happen so I try to remedy the situation by calling the front desk. Puts me on hold and then hangs up after 15 minutes of waiting. I call back and the lady can’t do her job properly so she just gives up and says to call accounting. It should be her job to fix these mistakes and call accounting, she received my past reservation details and had my credit card on file. Ended up doing a charge back and letting the bank deal with it. 1 star service = not a 4 star hotel.

The bathrooms are not being properly cleaned by housekeepers. They are neglecting the tubs and walls. They are very dirty. They are not being scrubbed or cleaned. It’s very unsightly. I used to be a housekeeping inspector. Those details are so important and hard to miss. The bathroom door needs replaced. It’s rotting on the bottom from water damage and there is no vent in the bathroom either. The room itself looked clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel on the outside is nice and the lobby is beautiful. Business and vacation trip.

Service was very good. However hotel room was a bit dated and double room is 2 full size beds not queens. Also, on-site parking is valet only. Sal, the reason for the hotel rating was based on a few items, the carpet seemed a little dirty in the hallway to the room. There were stains/smudges on the entry wall in our room, and in the the bathroom there was loose caulking in the shower and the shower curtain was too small (width) to fully enclose the shower.

Pro-tip: a four-star hotel is not necessarily any cleaner or more convenient than a two or three star. Bathroom has toothpaste on the faucet and some repairs or dust in the shower and a bit of pee residue around the toilet screw covers as shown in the video. You can follow the conversations of everyone walking past at night... Or stun everyone nearby with an INCREDIBLE BANG just letting the door swing shut and SLAM. Wi-Fi is decent, $40 valet parking only, sheets smell clean. Could use some updates, impeccable cleaning, or an option for self parking to make this a better value that I'd stay at again.

When Staying in downtown Houston the Whitehall is my favorite place to stay. It's location is ideal, close to Freeway so we don't have to drive around downtown trying to find it. Walking distance to nightlife and restaurants. The staff is always very courteous and helpful. The patio bar is a great place to hang out and have a cocktail. The rooms are always clean, spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Houston.

This was my first time staying at The Whitehall. I stayed here last week because I was officiating a USAV tournament at George R. Brown center. Ms. Dana was excellent with getting me checked in when I arrived. Valet crew was great as well. Really nice, clean, and spacious hotel. My room was upgraded to a king size room, thanks management. I sleep great in their bed and didn't wake up with neck and or back pain . I would definitely stay here again and recommend The Whitehall to other's.

Stayed here for one night with my family and location was easy to find! Valet parking was offered when we arrived and the gentleman at the front desk was very excited to have us there. Selected an executive suite for our stay and the room was one of the best rooms we've every stayed at a hotel. The suite was very spacious, the king bed was very comfy, and overall very delighted with our stay. Check in/check out experience was quick, informative, and helpful. Easily one of the most best hotels I have ever seen. Here are some things I’ll list. 1. Quality of everything: The lobby and the interior was really fancy looking, especially the room since the beds were clean and the bathroom was also top notch. 2. Customer Service: Really nice people, especially the front since if you needed something they would do it for you. 3. Restaurant: The food tastes amazing. Even the price is moderate or maybe a little expensive it’s worth the price. Also nice people working there. My overall is that if you are rich and want a quick night stay I would recommend this place.

Went to Houston for a long weekend to go to the great museums. Nice hotel in a great location. Very good view from our window. The staff was just terrific, especially John. He made us feel welcome and wanted. They have a great outdoor bar if you get nice Houston weather like we did. I enjoyed the coffee bar in the restaurant each morning. Room was roomy, beds were comfy, and the property was clean. Great hotel in a great location.

This is a very elegant downtown hotel and close to various restaurants and attractions. I enjoyed the valet parking, just wish that was included in the price. Had a few rowdy guests on night one, didn't expect the walls to be so thin. The bed was super comfortable but the room had chipping paint and the bathroom was smaller than expected given the spacious room. Weather made it difficult to enjoy the outdoor amenities like the pool and outdoor dining options. Overall it was a good stay.

Had a nice weekend stay at The Whitehall. Opted to get a spot hero parking space in a nearby lot vs paying $35 /day for valet. Room was nice, if a bit dated. Walls were thin but luckily we had quiet neighbors. The food and service and decor at the Mexican restaurant on the 2nd floor was great! Friendly staff. The location was good for driving around to other areas. Not many restaurants within walking distance but there are a few. It's mostly a business district.

This has to be one of the worst experiences of my life. I would recommend someone to stay ANYWHERE else in Houston. From the valet, to lack of warning that they are NON ADA compliant because of its historical status. John is the Sotherly Host: I just wanted to say every time we saw John he had a big smile on his face. He always knew are name. He was very helpful and everything we asked him about. It was a pleasure being at that hotel, knowing John was there if we ever need anything. Thank you, John!!

The advertising is not what it says 1. It's says all rooms are eligible for a pull out bed 2. The was supposed to give each person in the room one drink a piece per day per room nope not mine...3. They never told me I had to walk around the corner to get in after hours.

The Whitehall has a nice outdoor bar area (Part & Parcel) that is good place to meet people after work. The food is good and the service was very good when I was there in Sept.

The Whitehall was a great decision for my recent in town stay. Ana Maria and the rest of the staff was absolutely incredible. Clean rooms and amazing service! I honestly have no complaints. 10/10

Disappointed in the room amenities. They don't meet what I would get at a Fairfield Inn, but with a greater expense. Food at the restaurant Hermano's was terrible, in terms of taste and giving food poisoning.

Was there for 5 weeks. It was quiet. The convenience of being so close to office was great. The parking and the restaurant really made the stay perfect.

It’s supposed to be a 4 star hotel but we did not get even a microwave or a mini fridge for our food. Room was old looking and outdated. Could not connect phone to tv to stream movies. Was charges 6 dollars for a small water bottle. Cracks on the ceiling which was very concerning.

John at the front desk made the stay at Whitehall seamless and enjoyable. Traveling is never easy but this time it was. The hotel was very scenic and accommodating but the staff was top notch! Would stay again and would highly recommended. Thanks again John! You deserve a raise!

Staff is very friendly, location is good. But, this hotel looks much nicer online than it does in person. The whole place could use a deep clean. Didn’t really enjoy removing a bunch of someone else’s hair out of the bathtub before I could use it.

We had a staycation and well worth it! From the time we checked in until we had to leave, the staff was amazing and very helpful. Our room was clean and very spacious. We had a date night and went to Parts and Parcels for a drink before we

Just had a great vacation with my family in Houston staying at the Whitehall Hotel. I always like to find interesting hotels in downtown areas versus the chain hotels out in the suburbs... and this place did not disappoint! Really amazing

I recently stayed at the Whitehall, and it did not disappoint. John at the front desk was fantastic, the rooms were clean and they accommodated the multiple times I had friends come in and out. I loved the outside bar! Great music and the

One of the best hotel experiences I have ever encountered. The hotel staff was very accommodating and friendly. I received the white glove treatment as soon as I pulled onto the property. I would highly recommend you stay at the hotel and

The great thing about this hotel is the pricing and the customer friendly service. I was unimpressed with the rooms, they’re in need of a renovation. The photos of the Executive King room are not remotely accurate to the room we were in.

I had to make a last minute trip to Houston to visit the passport office. I picked the Whitehall just because it was a block away, but I’m so glad I did! I had had a terrible, horrible day, and every single person at the Whitehall was
