The animal enclosures are tiny, the animals looked miserable. I was depressed being there. The zoo needs to treat its animals better. If this is the best zoo in Europe I’d hate to imagine what the others look like. Poor poor animals it was also January 2024 and most animals were freezing cold and hiding. Wasn’t much to see. I just want to save them all from their tiny homes. The Hippos and Rhinos were in minuscule enclosures and the polar bears looked suicidal. Also saw a Humboldt (Peruvian) Penguin that had bleeding feet, and blood all over the enclosure floor. But there weren’t even any zoo staff around for me to notify them. Most cafes were closed. Just sooooo sad Vienna Zoo needs to take notes from Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia. They know how to treat animals humanely with enough space and CLEAN enclosures.

Loved this place. Was well worth the money, we spent over 5 hours looking at all the animals loved seeing the polar bears, Arctic Wolves in the snow and Pandas, Koalas and siberian tigers. The enclosures seemed decent sizes and the animals looked well looked after. It was nice having a path follow round so we didn't miss anything on route, although not all animals were out due to the weather. Would definitely recommend and would visit again if and when in vienna.

Mein Besuch im Tiergarten Schönbrunn hat mich angenehm überrascht. Die Aktivität der Tiere fiel besonders positiv auf. Es war beeindruckend zu sehen, wie lebhaft sie in ihren Gehegen waren, was den Besuch besonders unterhaltsam machte. Insgesamt kann ich den Tiergarten Schönbrunn mit gutem Gewissen empfehlen. Die lebhaften Tiere, die gepflegte Umgebung und das vielfältige Essensangebot machen den Besuch zu einem lohnenswerten Ausflug für Tierliebhaber und Familien.

The Zoo was established in 1751 and is considered the world's oldest zoo still.in operation. It sounds fascinating and you have to take this into account when you set your expectations. The place is relatively small but it has giant pandas, red pandas, and koalas, among many other animals, which is a good reason to visit the place. I also enjoyed the canopy trail, which allows you to walk between the tree tops 10 meters above the ground.

Der Zoo in Wien beeindruckt mit seiner Größe und einer vielfältigen Auswahl an Tieren. Gerade im Winter ist es angenehm, dass weniger Menschen unterwegs sind. Die Elefanten, Tiger und Löwen hinterliessen einen besonders eindrücklichen Eindruck. Der Zoo zählt zu den schöneren seiner Art. Das Kombiticket mit Schloss Schönbrunn für 57 Euro erscheint fair und bietet insgesamt ein beeindruckendes Erlebnis.

We LOVED the zoo. You can easily spend the entire day there; it's huge with a lot to see, and there are many small, interesting facts about the animals to read. It's well-organized too. I recommend visiting during feeding times (listed on the map) – it's a lot of fun. However, I wouldn't recommend the dessert room - it was small, and there wasn't much of interest there.

We paid €26 pp. This is one of the best zoo I’ve been at. I like that they have summer and winter option to observe the animals. The ‘cages’ seemed very cleaned, animals didn’t look depressed. It has very rare species for a Zoo - panda, koala, polar bear, Arctic wolf and many more cute animals. Definitely recommend visiting it. You’ll need 3-4 hours to properly see everything.

What a wonderful experience this was! There are tons of areas to rest and have refreshments while enjoying the views. Animal dens are very well maintained. Would highly recommend the seal and wolves feeding time. Average visit time of 3-4 hours. Family friendly too, kids can also come into close contact with goats and sheep.

Loved this zoo! Went there at 9:30 in the morning so no queuing and got to see most of the feedings. Wanted to see specific animals so was done in 3 hours. But you can actually spend an entire day with your kids there since the zoo is big enough. And there are a lot of other things to enjoy in the grounds of the palace.

One of the best zoo I've ever seen. I couldn't miss the oldest zoo in the world and I really enjoyed this place. The stuff care about animals. They have a lot of structured areas, what is very comfortable. But you can't see lions and leopards well because of plants around. Animals were hidden somewhere.

Excellent value at €26. Really big zoo, can easily spend 3-4 hours. It has pretty much everything, it is located in the main park with stunning scenery. Lions and tigers didn't really do much, and unfortunately the monkeys weren't playing. But the elephants and giraffes made it worth while.

Wunderschöner Zoo mit tollen Attraktionen und vielen Informationen. Da der Zoo sehr rundlich angelegt ist, hat man nicht so lange Wege. Ganz schön das Eisbären Gehege, sehr groß und viele Tafeln zum Lesen. Konnten sehen wie aus Kokons Schmetterlinge geschlüpft sind.

Der Tiergarten Schönbrunn ist ideal für einen Familienbesuch. Für den Rundweg sollte man ca. 3 h einplanen. Im Tiergarten gibt es ausreichend Möglichkeiten um sich mit Speisen und Getränken zu stärken. Viele Sitzbänke laden zu einer Pause ein. Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!

Being the world's oldest zoo this one was really well maintained and cleaned. Best thing is the cafe beside lion's den. You can have a thrilling experience watching lions roaming beside you while enjoying food. This has a variety of different animals and based on their habits the environment is maintained. A must visit place in Vienna.

Es war sehr angenehm dort, wir waren im Winter da, weshalb einige Tiere nicht in ihrem Außen Gehege zu sehen waren. Die Gehege an sich waren sehr schön und mein persönliches Highlight war die Gabun Viper. Die Angestellten dort waren super freundlich. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Really enjoyed this zoo. Easy to walk around and lots to see. Unique and fun areas for kids to play. Popcorn was yummy. Staff was friendly. Did get very crowded very quickly on a weekend day. Bathrooms were small and often dirty.

Given the fact that we visited in the winter, it was a pleasant experience! Not the best zoo I visited in europe but definitely worth visiting. Many animals to see. The parking system I thought was weak, we had to park about 350ms away, infact, I can imagine a worse scenario if it was the summer where many people visit..

Wunderbare Möglichkeit Tiere ganz nah zu erleben. Eintritt ist nicht billig, aber voll wert. Die Fütterung der Robben um 15:30 unbedingt ansehen, aber 15 Minuten vorher dort sein, da sehr überfüllt.

I loved Schonbrunn Gardens but discovering this zoo was really cool! I haven't seen a zoo so well done and so large for years.Suitable for all ages and makes you wonder whatever was created. The animal information is also accurate and gives you more curiosity about the animal in front. Mehr

Der ideale Zeitpunkt ist frühmorgens, da ist noch nicht so viel los und man kann die Ruhe genießen. Ein wunderschöner Zoo mit viel Platz für Mensch und Tier - es wird immer wieder mal was umgebaut/ dazugebaut damit die Tiere genug Freiraum sofern man das bei einem Zoo sagen kann, haben.
