I had a very good experience with Tony's Auto Repair. Tony was able to get my junkmobile of a vehicle into good condition and kept the costs within my budget. While it's a little hard to find, the shop his tucked away down Congress St. and you just have to wander into the garage, and one of the mechanics will take care of you. For me, I told Tony all of my needs and he was very capable of both making the repairs and dealing with the "quirks" of running my car. Sometimes, mechanics will try to scam you or make you think there's more wrong with your car than there actually is, but Tony explains all of his repair processes with you and his reasoning behind the repairs he wants to make. He doesn't do anything to your vehicle without your consent. After, he shows you the problems with the part(s) in detail if he can. This was greatly appreciated because I always try to learn what I can about cars, and it helps me affirm that I'm not being tricked. Further, I had a few constraints to my budget but the shop worked with me to make sure I could afford the costs of my vehicle. When the work was done, it took a little under a week to get everything done (and there was a fair amount) and my care drove amazingly! TL;DR: Tony's Auto Repair is an honest, affordable repair shop that is a good value. You'll be happy with the results of your repair.

My '13 Ford Escape was leaking coolant this morning and Tony did a diagnostic to make sure that it was ok, gave me a price estimate for replacement and showed me on his computer exactly where the damage was and why each part needed to be replaced. Ultimately, I ended up having to get my car towed to a Ford dealership because the water pump had specific tools necessary to unfasten it that are only available at the ford dealership. However, the kindness, patience, and true customer service that I experienced here leads me to recommend it to anyone who needs a fix.

Tony is great, I've taken my car to him several times for minor work and every time he goes above and beyond for fixing my problem, by that I mean you can come in with a busted mirror, and Tony will handle that, plus make sure tire pressure is all good, refill your wiper fluid, and use his mechanic eye to quickly make sure there's no other problems going on for no extra charge. He's a good honest mechanic who's friendly, works affordably and quickly, and is truly looking out for his customers.

I brought my car to Tony after hearing my brakes squeak, he got back to me quickly and let me know that the brakes just had to be adjusted and that he serviced the front and the rear brakes. He did a thorough review and did not over charge or do more work than needed, he seems like a genuine guy and I appreciated his honesty. Will be going back here again, his shop is conveniently located close to L street and is a quick walk from the NOMA neighborhood.

Tony fit me in right away from a brake and rotor repair. He called with the estimate and talked through the process in depth before beginning any work. He never tried to push other services on me, and he finished my repair very quickly. When I arrived to pick up my car, he explained in a straightforward way what he had changed and why it was important. Highly recommend his work!!

Tony was very kind and helpful. We had a lot to discuss over the phone and he was very thorough to make sure I understood everything. I was considering many businesses for my AC repair but Tony's desire to help made me choose him. It was the right decision- he worked quickly even when the problem was different than what I told him. He even gave me a student discount.

Tony was able to replace my battery within an hour of calling, he was prompt, attentive and informative. He went out of his way to provide helpful information about a warranty even though battery was purchased elsewhere. The kind of service that you just can't find anymore- even helped us back out safely and get on our way. Will be taking our car here for service!

Had a great experience with Tony! He returned my call quickly, told me bring in my car right away, and then called me not long after with an assessment and estimate. Tony worked quickly, and then showed me my old brakes and explained what he replaced when I picked my car up the next day.

Tony’s great. Straightforward and communicative. I usually call ahead to make sure it’s not too busy when I need a tune up. He is tucked away but in a perfect location. I usually walk to union market for a snack and coffee to wait while my car is serviced. Highly recommend!!

Tony was so nice and helped me patch a flat back in the fall when I was about to road trip to a wedding and was in dire straights. He really saved me and knew his stuff, and he charged me so little I insisted on paying more. Highly recommend.

I stumbled upon this place after my splash guard came loose and they repaired it quickly! I returned a couple months later for an oil change and I was in and out. They are very convenient and friendly. Prices are also reasonable.

The posted hours are wrong (as noted in another review) so I called ahead to confirm I could bring in my car this morning at 9. Waited until around 9:15 am before I left - garage was completely closed. Won't be coming back again
