Some could wonder how such a beautiful beautiful place could exist in the center of the downtown city of Toronto!! This place is absolutely beautiful and seemingly would only exist in movies. The cemetary is nessled in between family parks, a sports field, family picnic areas and Riverdale park. One day I was just following the paths for me the Toronto Necropolis cemetery is quite the find! I have ever seen a cemetery rich with such old and big elegant and extravagant tombstones ever! A lot of the Graves can be dated to the early 1800's as well some are so old that any print or carvings have disappeared over the decades and even centuries of decay! You could probably spend hours here taking pictures as I did. Not only the cemetary itself with tons of property to view tombstones but also the absolutely incredible chapel to view there as well, even tho I wasn't able to make it inside! You will also notice joggers come through as the trail pathway system connects to the entrance of the cemetery. Would highly recommend for anyone who are into old Gothic style type things or even just cemetaries in general. Would recommend this to anyone to visit at least once
a very beautiful place, and so much history, with some gravestones from mid 19th century, along with very new ones. I love going there, very peaceful and meditative space (even with the noisy DVP so close). I only wish there were more benches. there is also the splendid chapel by the main entrance, which is so photogenic. by TTC: probably the best way to get there is 506 streetcar (get off at Parliament/Carlton) or 65 Parliament bus (get off at Parliament/Winchester - it is about 5-10 minutes walk east - giving you an opportunity to admire the charming and quiet Cabbagetown streets. l
Came here for a Toronto Cemetery Tour - which was awesome. The cemetery itself is absolutely beautiful, and peaceful. The stones here are old and new, rundown and in perfect condition (see George Romero's gravestone). I would recommend coming here for a stroll and to read the different inscriptions as well as the different structures of the tombstones. Would also highly recommend the Toronto Cemetery Tour.

I called early one morning, to see if they could locate my Great Grandfather's grave as I wanted to take my father to see it. He hadn't been there in over 70 years. All the staff, both over the phone and in person, were very kind, and helpful. When we arrived we were met by a grounds keeper who had obviously been watching for us. He took us right to the grave's location and made sure we had found it. It made for a very pleasant experience for both my father and I.
Calm clean and peaceful atmosphere. Usually touch this place while going for a stroll at riverdale park. The management is taking super care of the property and you will simply love the place. There are graves from 1850 and you feel like walking through the past! There are old mausoleums and headstones which is a nice sight. The chapel and the entrance looks beautiful in the gothic revival style.
Best place for a first date. No lie: free of charge, Beautiful trees, great architecture, terrain difficulty 3/10-- if your date can't hack that you know they're lame and you don't have to waste time on a second date. Also, there's a truck mirror on the side of the chapel, and I like to give points to people who correctly guess its purpose....

Possibly the most beautiful necropolis I’ve visited so far! I love the charming Gothic architecture of the Chapel by the entrance. It’s a serene, well maintained and truly a special place to lay your love one to rest! Very historic too, as some prominent figures are laid to rest. Great place to stroll, and take things slow.
Absolutely stunning grounds. You can tell they really put pride in taking good care of the grounds. I did however see a lot of litter. especially along the fence lines, in a lot of the less traveled areas. Other than that, its worth visiting, and seeing all the history that surrounds you.
Massive cemetery in my neighbourhood. A nice quiet place to walk and see some historic old graves nestled in a gorgeous area of Toronto (Cabbagetown). Has a cute little chapel on the grounds and is situated between Riverdale and Wellesley parks.
Peaceful, beautiful, historic area nestled downtown. Great accessible path inside for meditative walks. Many come for Right across Riverdale Farm.

Across the street from Riverdale Farms is the Toronto Necropolis - while it looks interesting from the outside we didn't venture in as it looks a little spooky in the evenings - A Richard Trus review
My friend is interred there. It is such a peaceful, will kept place that I enjoy walking either to visit his grave or just walk and find a calm. Open to everyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors.
For some reason, the chapel was closed off even though it was a perfectly normal day and time. A bit disappointed for that alone, as I wanted to take a look inside.

My friend is buried there and I wish it was open on weekends as that's the most peaceful time in the week for me to go. I can never make it there for Wednesday's by 4:40 pm
This a very pleasant place to visit. Saw a our famous people there. Saw Jack Laytons grave, William Lyon Mackenzie's and George Browns grave.
It's small, but beautiful. Lots of famous people buried there. A nice place to stroll through for a short walk. Feels like I'm in England.
Don't know anyone living here but is a beautiful spot with a great chapel. Well maintained and great to discover on a Cabbagetown walk.
Really nice chapel. We couldn't see it inside as it was closed, but the outside is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.
Been lying around this place for 20 years. My neighbours are super quiet, they never say a word, literally.
Beautiful, quiet cemetery on the Eastern edge of downtown Toronto. Lovely pathway through the cemetery.
很安静,很祥和....看到有很多墓志铭在石碑上,内心很受触动....用言语表达不出来.... office的楼是18xx年盖的....可能在北京很少看到这种散落在各地的老建筑,所以觉得很敬仰这个建筑....
First time there, will be back. Love the architecture , beautiful area of Toronto, CabbageTown.
Such a beautiful place. Jack Layton is buried right as you come in the main gate on the right.
Very peace full place to stroll or site on a bench. Grounds are kept in very good condition
Such a lovely peaceful little Chapel. Also a nice place to have a walk around the grounds.
Jack Layton! You stole my heart from there. But the whole cemetery is beautiful and serene
A trip in history, and unique monuments, a beautiful cemetery. Nice area, neighbourhood.
Folks at not very lively and stick to themselves most of the times. Not a party crowd.
Really cool old place where many famous Canadians are and have been
Haven't been there yet but I will visit the cemetery real soon
Fine gothic architecture and lots of species of trees.
Absolutely Beautifully kept grounds truly a must see!
Kind, compassionate staff and beautiful grounds.
Not where I want to be in the zombie apocalypse.
As a family member worst experience ever.
