Knowing you are going to spend quite a bit of money and then seeing at least a fair amount of three and four star reviews when you know you should be seeing probably next to zero doesn't exactly give you warm fuzzy feelings. In town for a conference. However, this restaurant was recommended by someone who has been to downtown Nashville and so we visited tonight! Within walking distance of the Convention Center, the Omni, Broadway, and Bridgestone Arena. We were a bit early for our reservations but were seated immediately. The service was amazing and we had two servers both of whom were very knowledgeable about the wine and dinner menu. I'm a wino and knew more about the wine list than I was letting on, but they gave extremely solid recommendations. We were just about the first people in the place, and sat right near the wine lockers which is really a pretty incredible display. I had read several reviews about the food being bland. Well, it is not. If you want food that is appropriately salted and spiced, with excellent Italian herbs and great balance, this is the place for you. Their wine list is actually pretty decent. They have some bottles that are insanely priced for what they are (AKA, not that they are bad wines, they are actually very good wines but have next to no age on them. Why would somebody pay $700 for a 2011 Solaia Reserve when that wine is still extremely asleep??). The second label wine by Ornellaia was very good and matched well with the calamari which I did not photograph because it was pretty much destroyed by the time I thought to get a picture of it. One of the pictures is the prosciutto and arugula pizza, which was very good. The meatball pizza was also very good, marinara was really very good. The salmon is pictured here with a little crust on top of it and was very good. However, I would say the best thing of the night was the salted caramel gelato. Never even thought to have a combination of salted caramel and gelato, but this stuff was absolutely incredible. I almost asked if there was a way I could get a pint of this to-go. Knowing I was going to get some really strange looks, I didn't ask! Would definitely go back here again. To everyone, don't fear the three and four-star reviews that are predominantly complaining about food not being oversalted and the price. This is post COVID, in a town that is notoriously expensive so if you can't afford to go here then You probably just need to go to McDonald's and call it a night. We enjoyed ourselves here immensely. The bill? Yes, it was ugly. But we enjoyed every minute of it and the staff was great.

Trattoria...where to start? I feel like this restaurant has delicious food, but extremely expensive. Besides the price, this was a great experience. The staff are incredibly friendly (the Russian hostess quickly became friends with our Russian guest). The staff had great knowledge on all of their drinks. Every cocktail and wine and beer were excellent and paired well with our food. Appetizers were fantastic. Tuna tartare had extremely fresh chunks of tuna in a refreshing mashed avocado and leafy greens mixture). The fried calamari was expertly battered and fried with no greasiness at all to them. Their grilled octopus was just the right amount of tender (not too chewy) and seasoned well alongside some potatoes. Their version of “cheese” bread with salami had fresh made bread topped with a smooth cheese that still had a small bite. And the salami with the mashed eggplant mixture was the perfect accompaniment. The ricotta meatballs were amazing; as you tore each meatball apart, ricotta was oozing out every direction. The meatball itself was quite delicate and not dry at all. The entrees were great. Their pappardelle (housemade pasta with lobster in a creamy sauce) was delightful. The quantity of food was on the lower end, but after all the appetizers, it was a good amount. Their salmon was probably the best salmon I have eaten to date. So juicy and flavorful, and I loved every bite. Their monkfish, which was their special of the night, was excellent and served on top of purple potatoes. Last was the desserts. If you like flourless chocolate cake (think of an extremely creamy chocolate cake), then this should be on your list to get. Their gelatos were pretty good, but seemed to be a bit too icy instead of more creamy. Pistachio and the mango flavors themselves were spot on. Overall, the experience and food would rate as a 4/5 stars, and I do highly recommend coming if you have the opportunity.

I can’t say enough great things about this place. Went last night for my birthday dinner and had one of the best dining experiences of my life, and visiting from New Jersey and being surrounded by good Italian food, I can say this place was truly top tier and really made my whole birthday. From the amazing wine selection to the free bread and eggplant purée that was out of this world to the amazing sauces and flavors in their pastas, I cannot think of enough great things to say about my experience here. Service is also attentive and top notch. Definitely higher end in terms of price but for the quality of food and service we got, the price almost surprised me as being too low for an upper tier spot like this. All in all, a gem of a restaurant. Great vibes and ambiance great food and great service. Would like to personally thank the chefs service staff and everyone involved for making my birthday dinner such an unforgettable. Experience. I will be back every time I’m in Nashville going forward. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. If you leave this city without trying this place you have done your trip wrong. Definitely try this place for a reasonably priced super high end dining experience.

If I could give Byron & team 10 stars, I would! My husband & I were in Nashville for our 4 year wedding anniversary. Side note: we did eat at a different location that, at the time of the reservation, we did share that it was our anniversary trip. This establishment did not acknowledge it at all. However, we chose Trattoria Il Mulino for our actual anniversary dinner and BOY did they deliver! The space itself is beautiful, a bit darker, and more intimate but the service for the whole night was, in a word, exceptional. We knew we chose right when we were seated & found a hand-written card wishing us a Happy Anniversary & signed by the entire staff! Our server Byron was so charming, attentive, and humorous as were the other staff members who took care of us. The food was also fantastic (try the ricotta meatballs!) and as if the date could not get any better, Byron told my husband of a shortcut from the restaurant (through the glass doors by the bathroom) through the Hilton right next door, to the street, to the pedestrian bridge for a romantic walk and dance on the bridge by night. My husband & I managed to have a *perfect date* and Trattoria Il Mulino, with it's wonderful service, food, & ambiance helped make it so. Thank you Byron & everyone working 7/24/2019--we look forward to seeing you again!

I see a lot of bad reviews regarding seating and reservations. We came in around 8pm on a Saturday with no reservation and were informed the bar is open seating when available and you can be served dinner there, which was awesome because a couple just happened to get up when we walked in, worked out perfect. Bartender was courteous but really tried to upsell us on food that for 2 people we didn't need. Now the ravioli dish was served in a cold bowl and the pasta was cold for a 14$ upcharge that we didn't need or enjoy, On top of him convincing my husband to not just get the filet but do a surf and turf and add shrimp to it finding put 3 pieces of shrimp is 20$ extra. Now mind you I am glad he did because it was absolutely the BEST shrimp we have ever had, which made up for the subpar filet he was served, but still a lot of up selling for being such a high end restaurant. My Rack of lamb was also cooked perfectly. I'm just not okay with the amount of upselling he was pushing for us to receive 4 pieces of cold ravioli for $14 It was a 155$ for 2 people on top of the generous tip we left. Overall experience was alright and I'm just honestly salty about those raviolis and 20$ upcharge for 3 pieces of shrimp.

So we had reservations. Sat down with the party of 9 together. From that moment on, everything was segregated. Nothing came out at the same time. We had to wait at least 10 min per request. What I mean is, if we asked for a refill one Glass came out. Instead of looking at the table to see others were out of drinks. 10 min later the drink came out. someone else would have to flag him down for their drink. We tried to do it all at once but it never worked out. 20 min to get the salad dressing. 20 min for refill of bread (and they only put 1 serving of bread for a table of 9 so that lasted 1 second). So I'm not disgruntled over ot but for the price of the restaurant, and I gotta tell you it's pretty pricey, I would have expected better service. They were not full on all the tables. The food was good. I had the lobster pasta stuff it was good. But no salad for a side. it's all separate. For $45 a plate, perhaps a salad is in order. The waiter was very nice. Lights were so dim you couldn't read the menu (several staff members commented on that but no one raised the lighting). For the price I would say I was not impressed. I did nit have a bad experience, just not an enjoyable one

I truly feel like I was scammed here. I ordered the $24 Capellini pasta and was asked by the waitress if I wanted to add a protein to it. I said sure and settled on the Scallops. When the waitress asked how many I wanted, I said, " I don't know, 3 or 4." She said, "I'll put in for four." The bill arrived and it was $84, the scallops were $15 a piece, making this the most expensive entree on the menu by far. She didn't even recommend that I choose the special scallop entree for the night which was around $30 cheaper. I brought this up with our secondary waitress and she could only offer a half apology but had no hesitation running my card. I'm truly disappointed in the service here and would not recommend it to anyone. On another note, everyone at my table ordered the caprese salad. The tomatoes did not seem quite ripe enough and so chilled they were almost frozen.

Definitely a must when in Nashville!!! this food and service is excellent! priced a little higher but not ridiculous and so well worth it, the portions are huge, we had them wrap our leftover boxes in cellophane so we could pack them and take on our flight home, we usually give them to the homeless but the spaghetti and meatballs were so good my husband could not let them go ....the most tender meat and light delicious sauce! I ordered the grilled octopus appetizer and the Verde Pizza, the octopus was the best I've ever had in my life!!! so tender and flavorful served Mediterranean style with the most delicious light caper sauce with burst cherry tomatoes and eggplant, purple fingerling potatoes and assorted olives ....unbelievable! I got the Verde Pizza to go with it but didn't need it after the octopus! they brought out a bread tray with a delicious eggplant tapenade complimentary with our drinks so the food was definitely plentiful for the price, we will definitely be back!

My wife and I travel quite a bit. We’ve been lucky enough to find some very good restaurants. While in Nashville for our first time, we had no idea where to eat. Trattoria il Mulino definitely rates up there as one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The pizza was perfect. A lot of sauce & cheese. I had the chicken parmigiana with homemade rigatoni. My wife had the filet with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Everything was very fresh. My wife has many food allergies and our server, Melissa was extremely accommodating. She was outstanding!!! My only complaint if you will is that the chicken parmigiana was $34 and didn’t include a side of pasta or any other side. With the rigatoni added, it was $44. Which is quite expensive from my experience. That being said, we would certainly go back.

Definately need to add this to your bucket list. Dinning experience was fantastic and I couldn't have chosen a better restaurant to celebrate my wifes' birthday. We sampled the meatballs (Best Restaurant Meatballs ever), Calamari Picante which was off the hook, enjoyed thier Capresse salad. I really loved the rack of Lamb, by the way don't let the description "breaded" deter you from ordering becuase the "breaded" should have been described as dusted, was so light and flavorful and allowed the Lamb flavor to come through. The wife got the SHRIMP FRANCESE and I capitalized it because it is absolutely the best shrimp dish I have ever tatsed. (The wife only let me have one..hey it's her birthday). Wait staff was excellent. Overall fantastic dinning experience. Ask to be seated with Kaity what a great waitress

Overall my friends and I had a pretty good experience. The food itself was good. The only complaint I have would be that the complimentary bread came out after everyone in my group had already finished their meal. I had asked about it after sitting down, again when receiving our entrees, and another time in the middle of eating our food. We were told that they had run out of bread and were making a fresh batch. Getting it late would be fine if it was fresh, but when it finally came out the bread was ice cold, as in it felt like it had been kept in the fridge. I was full anyway since I had already finished my food but I was really craving garlic bread that night and was the reason we had chosen to eat at an Italian restaurant. Wasn’t necessarily a bad experience since the server was very kind, but not great either.

Where do I begin. Truly 5 out of 5 stars. Making the reservation was easy, once we arrived we were greeted with a friendly smiling face and we’re escorted to our table immediately. Our servers were Benjamin and Melissa and they were great and attentive. To start we shared the Cesar salad and they brought out bread. For drinks we ordered the Pear Martini and a glass of Moscato. For our main course we ordered the Ravioli and Frutti De Mare. Everything was amazing, well seasoned and cooked to perfection not to mention the ambiance. The dining area was dimly lit very romantic. Definitely date night vibes but also family friendly.

This restaurant inside the Hilton downtown Nashville floods with raw sewage, and every time it happens they stay open and continue to serve people food out of a disgusting environment that smells like feces. They’ve been unable to wash dishes when this happens. Line cooks and bartenders standing and trodding through the nasty sewage water to prepare your drinks and food. Absolutely disgusting establishment with no morals when it comes to food safety and servicing the general public. Yes that’s a Hobart mixer on the floor in the background right where they mix pizza dough inches away from nasty sewage water. They deserve to be shut down for their negligence. Money hungry disgusting human beings running this place.

The meatball appetizer was loaded with bread crumbs and tasted like meatloaf…It was in a red sauce on a lake of ricotta cheese? Though our Caesar salad was split evenly because we were sharing it, it lacked flavor. My husband’s lasagna was a Slab of mushy noodles in a nondescript sauce, with some meat and a bit of cheese on top. It was a belly bomber. My shrimp, though plentiful and large were somewhat tasteless. They were placed on a bed of spinach that was somewhere between raw and slightly wilted again with little flavor. They need to go to Italy to find out what real Italian food taste like.

got really bad energy from the host, I don’t understand why I deserve to get a bad face after five minutes spend in a restaurant. The waitress was nice but not after a few food requests, she got angry a bit but apparently she had four more tables to serve so maybe she had a lot of stress and it took us very long time to order the food, even though it came quickly. The food was ok. The Caesar salad was nice The Burrata with the watermelon came literally frozen. The red snapper was really bad.! But ravioli and the rest of the pastas were good I will be back for the pastas ,

We started with the truffle fries, they were excellent. Not quite as good as Mr. B's in New Orleans but very good. My wife had the gnocchi and the Bolognese and bechamel were a fantastic combination. I had the Cacio e Pepe raviolis and they were scrumptious. For dessert she had gelato and I had the lemoncello tiramisu, I personally suggest it, all washed down with the house chianti. Trent was our server and did an awesome job, as did the whole staff. Thanks

Sometimes you think of restaurants in hotels as being just ok, but this one was truly a stand out. It is a warm elegant atmosphere and the people who work there are friendly and accommodating bur the star of the show is the food! We ordered appetizers, salads, a pizza for thexl table, main courses and dessert....every single thing was incredible. One of the people with us is a TOTAL food snob and a few weeks after eating there, she still raves about the pork chop she had. I 100% recommend this place and will for sure be back the next time I'm in Nashville.

We were so pleased with our meal!! We ordered the grilled octopus and it was the best we've had around town, cooked to perfection without being rubbery or tough. The caesar salad was nothing special but good enough. My partner wanted the snapper but they were out, so he settled for their meatballs. Excellent! I went for the linguine with clams, a classic but fantastic. I don't typically like white wine but was suggested to the Principessa Cortese and I loved it! Our dessert was an espresso martini, a nice touch with Frangelicos! Service was great. Would return frequently, but expensive.

5 stars from start to finish. Staff works as a team to ensure you have a beautiful experience. The meatball app was delightful! I could eat an entire entree of just those! The ravioli was perfect! The noodles, the sauce, the cheese. My husband's veal was so tender he could cut it with a fork. I EVEN loved it! The creme brulee was the best finishing touch to a perfect meal. I would absolutely come back and eat here anytime I visited Nashville!

Set your expectation somewhere above an Olive Garden. Our server must have been new. Didn’t know how to properly handle wine glasses nor which glass to put the red wine into. The server knew nothing about the wine menu. The wine selection was the best thing at this restaurant. The Alfredo pasta was loaded with garlic. Two days worth if staying power strong. The salad was blah along with the meal. I’d recommend trying another restaurant.

Vallet parking. Reservations made. Still had to wait. Octopus appetizer was the best thing we had and just big enoughfor 2 peopleto get a good taste. Cocktails were very sweet. Had pear martini and spiced sangria, neither were great. The special of rigatoni was very nice. The frutti de mare was black angel hair pasta with seafood. It was only ok compared to the octopus appetizer, I'd probably go with a cheaper pasta next time and just order another octopus appetizer as a side lol.

Best meal I had in Nashville! Wanted to buy the dressing on the panzanella salad it was so good, but the waitress told me all the ingredients so I can make it myself! I created my own entree (rigatoni, with pink vodka sauce, a big dollop of goat cheese and finely chopped arugula) and they happily accommodated me! It was superb! Chef’s kiss! Great Italian food in the heart of Nashville. Located conveniently across from Bridgestone Arena makes this a perfect spot to dine before a concert or sporting event. The focaccia bread and tapenade were delicious with a glass of Justin Cabernet before dinner. I had an arugula salad which was light and really fresh. For my main course I had the gnocchi which was cooked to perfection. My husband had pasta with shrimp in vodka sauce and it too was really good. We ended with mint chocolate chip gelato. Food and service were awesome!

Outstanding restaurant. The ambience is nice like others. It is the service and the food that sets this restaurant above others. The managers and servers work together making this restaurant exceptional. Pasta is made on in the restaurant. I highly recommend the lobster over pasta. We had a late reservation but from the moment we walked in we were treated like the first customers. Every course was fantastic. The waiter gave me the best choice of rose wine. And the crème brûlée was the best we have EVER had.

I had the best experience here! I made reservations for a birthday dinner and they wrote us a little card and put a little candle on our dessert for us. The food was amazing. There were many vegetarian friendly options for me and I usually don’t find much in an upscale restaurant.

The best part is the wine selection! I eat Italian often and would rank this in the "above average" category. Our food was hot and served quickly. We were a bigger group and everyone had a different plate and everyone enjoyed. Deserts were great too.

If you are craving for Italian food this is the perfect place to go. Food was delicious and cooked to perfection . We ordered the grilled octopus, raviolis and the frute di mare. Mariana was our server, sweet and kind and excellent service.

Meh, food was okay. Wait staff seemed less than excited to be helpful. Had to ask for specials, we were only checked on to ask if we wanted another drink and never about how the food was. It's a tourist trap right off Broadway dressed up as something a little nicer... And pricier.

Great Italian fare in downtown Nashville. Space was a little dark but gave a cozy vibe. Service was very attentive and being especially thirsty when we visited noted that our water cup never once went empty. Food quality and preparation wert excellent. From what I could tell they also had outside patio seating that had tvs and looked to be enjoyable.

Impeccable staff. We had pappardelle as a main dish, and then mixed it with mostly side dishes. The octopus didn't stand a chance between the two of us. The sauce was off the charts. We could not wait for dessert. The Italian cheesecake was nice and spongy, perfect after eating more than was necessary. We will be dinning at their NYC location.

I don't know why this place has less than 5 stars! This is a hidden gem right off of Broadway. The bartenders, Kelly and Avery, were so kind and friendly. They gave us many recommendations of where the to go other than Broadway and were very knowledgeable. The food and drinks were amazing and we will definitely be coming back here! More

The food is out of this world good! Everything we tasted was magnificent. They also had a Dutton Ranch bottle of wine that we had to try (like any Yellowstone fan!). The atmosphere was delightful for a couple on date night. I will definitely be coming back!

The staff were absolutely wonderful and attentive. Mariana and Egli we’re helping the table and were very helpful and fun to talk to. The food was great. Unfortunately it was hotter inside the restaurant than outside though the ac was “on”. I feel horrible for all the staff and definitely wouldn’t recommend dining in the heat. More

Food was amazing! Atmosphere is nice too. We didn’t have a reservation so had to wait about 30 min to get seated for dinner but it was absolutely worth it.

Average at best. Food was pretty boring. Nothing that you can't get at an Olive Garden, honestly. Service was busy and a bit annoying. Prices were high for this level of mediocrity.

Very nice staff (Katie), with crisp service. I tried something I wouldn't normally do, and I probably wouldn't do it again (the chicken dish). The spaghetti did make up for my mistake though. Intimate setting with well spaced seating.

The food was amazing!!!! The service was great and I really enjoyed the complimentary appetizer spread with fresh bread. You really feel welcome and are able to enjoy the evening. It's near all the action but yet just far enough away that you heat the for traffic. Must add the bathrooms are extremely clean (

Absolutely the rudest management and front of house staff ever. Will never support this restaurant as they are indifferent and rude to clientele. Far better idea to walk up the street to Ophelia’s and be treated with respect and have a delicious meal as well vs rude service and attitude. More

A nice restaurant inside the Hilton. The service was wonderful. I enjoyed the creativity of the cocktails. The food was good but expensive, I felt we definitely paid for the ambiance and service vs the food itself. Some of the food was good, but some of it lacked flavor.

  • Sydney Butler

The service here was amazing! My date ordered an entree he wasn't a fan of (nothing was wrong with it, it just wasn't his style) and the staff eagerly replaced it with something he would enjoy. Everyone was friendly, the restaurant was gorgeous, and the food was great!

Amazing chicken parm. Sat at the bar in a nice dimly lit cozy environment. Definitely recommend for great Italian flare
