I'll give 2 stars because the manager finally decided to work with me, but still frustrated. Dr. Savage while friendly will talk about a lot of nonsense that when sick and exhausted is not what I wanted, however, I did get the antibiotic I needed in order to get better before flying home. For months I've been back and forth with insurance, beware this is a regular doctors office, NOT urgent care. I did not realize I needed authorization from my PCP before being seen. The office took my $40 copay and didn't say a thing. Several months later I get a bill for nearly $200 and my insurance won't cover it now because it's past 90 days. I've tried calling to talk to a manager at Traveler Medical Group, finally after 3 or 4 tries I talk to the manager who tells me to call my PCP and ask for a letter of authorization and I told her it's too late but she insists on it. I call my PCP's office and they say the same thing that it's past the 90 days and it's too late the system won't allow them to. Almost a year later I finally worked out a deal on the bill, but SO much time and energy was wasted. Please make sure you call your insurance company to confirm coverage or what you need to be covered because this office won't tell you otherwise.

Dr. Savage has been my personal physician for nearly 20 years. He’s always been able to “squeeze” me in on short notice, and he’s one of those rare doctors who makes it a point to really know his patients. Even more, his priority is to provide you with immediate relief from whatever ails you. Whether it’s the flu or a strained back, Dr. Savage listens carefully and administers a healthy dose of empathy and medical knowledge. Sometimes you don’t even have to tell him what’s bothering you—like the time I was experiencing vertigo and he was able to determine that just by looking at me. He did an exam and determined that I had a sinus infection. One round of antibiotics later and I was right as rain. In the old days, doctors made house calls because in order to make a sound diagnosis they needed to see how their patients lived. Meaning, to be an effective physician, you have to really know your patients. Dr. Savage understands this like no other physician. Many thanks to you and your wonderful staff for many years of great care, Dr. Savage!

So, I really liked the doctor, but I don't think he'd be for everyone. If it's important to you to just get in, get an exam, and get out, this probably isn't the place for you. The doctor kind of rambles about a bunch of random things about the world literally the entire time, but he did seem to know how to treat my problem and the underlying thing that was causing it which I didn't even know about. He gave me a technique for dealing with it that I had never heard of before and I'm pretty happy with it. He was nice. He wasn't, in my opinion, inappropriate, but he did curse so if you don't like that, maybe go elsewhere. I was seen right on time. I was originally told by the staff that I would have to pay $200, but after I got out of the appointment they said they double checked and it was actually $0. I'm happy they took the time to check it again. Even though the doctor was talking non-stop the whole time, it wasn't a long appointment. Maybe a half hour and I got the medicine I needed. I personally enjoyed the experience.

Didn’t get to see the doctor because after 40+ minutes past my appointment time (at 9:20 at night) I decided to leave. Really frustrating and unprofessional. Edited to respond to the below: yes, I did call to make an appointment. Appointments usually indicate that you have some sense of a timeline. It would have set expectations far more to have said I would need to walk in and wait. An appointment implies a schedule and so nearly an hour after I arrived for my appointment to still be sitting in the waiting room was frustrating. And indeed it was late at night - and I had just flown in from the east coast as I said on the phone. So I was in urgent care, waiting for an hour and exhausted. I understand things happen and patients need extra time, but more realistic information and proactive communication would have gone a long way.

We were visiting SFO and my husband fell ill unfortunately. The hotel put us to the clinic. Called at 11am and managed to get an appointment with Dr Savage at 1pm. We were attended to and triaged by the nurse who was very warm and friendly. Waited about an hour before we saw the doctor, believe he was out for another consultation. Anyhow, Dr Savage was thorough and informative about my husband’s condition and gave some good and useful advice and tips to manage and prevent sinus-related problems, and even dishing out some sound advice on parenting :) quite a funny guy! Fees including medicine is not cheap compared to home, probably 5x more, but this is America, healthcare is not cheap and accessible especially for non-residents. All good though, we get peace of mind with a good consultation and meds. Would recommend his clinic.

We went to this clinic because our 6-year old daughter had fever and an upset stomach. The doctor made some superficial examinations. Without any results he gave us an antibiotic for 10 days!!! Due to the superficial examinations the doctor could not know if my daughter had a bacterial infection or not. And we had to pay USD 335.00. After the doctors visit we didn't feel confortable about the whole appointment and didn't give my daughter the antibiotics - which was a good decision!! She was healthy again after 2 days without any medication. We have the suspicion that the doctor just wanted to sell the expensive antibiotics to increase the charges.

This office offers COVID testing and took test before my required surgery. This office promised to provide test results to my surgeon office day before my surgery but never did. On the day of the surgery, the surgeons office and myself called multiple times and given the run around. We kept getting pushed back from 6am to 9am to 10am to 12:30pm only to be continuously told results coming. Finally told they may not be able to get results (test taken 5 days ago) by end of day. This office has no protocol in providing COVID testing. We were told different excuses on why testing results not received. Bad operations!

I can't tell you how many times Dr. Savage has literally saved my life over the 15 years I've been his patient. The very first time I saw Dr. Savage was to treat a sinus infection in 2005. One the time I ripped open my knee after a scooter accident he stayed open late to clean me up and called St. Mary's ER for me. I've literally watched his kids grow up in that office. And when my insurance wasn't covered by his practice, I gladly paid out of pocket because I trust the work he and his team does. Thank you Dr. Savage!

Dr. Jim rocks! I was throwing up and in so much pain during my stay at the InterContinental San Francisco. I called the concierge and a short time later I am being taken care of by "the man".. It turned out to be just food poisoning, but it knocked me out for over 24-hours of my trip. After some meds, I stopped hurling and the fever went right down and I was feankin that I had something serious and yelling at my GF to get me to the ER. NGS

Last night, I had and appt and my wife came along. LSS: She knows A LOT about physicians. In her words (paraphrased) "he is a really good doctor. I watched the way you interacted which impressed me and he really took the time to clearly explain things to you." He mixes his care with humor and I think he's hilarious. If you don't like Dr Savage, I diagnose you as needing a funny bone transplant!!!

Completely ripped off by this place. They charge outrageous fees and know that we travellers are under pressure to accept them. $220 usd for a consultation might be ok but $200 for a couple of tubes of cream and a dose of antibiotics is simply theft. Get them to give you a prescription that you can take to any pharmacy. Don’t let them provide the products and rip you off. Paid $600 for 10 mins.

Dr. Savage is AMAZING!! I adore him to pieces. He is incredibly smart, honest and will always find time for you! He has been my go to for literally everything. He is well versed in many areas not just as a GP. He will research it for you if he does not know. He is like that doctor on that tv show- House. He figures it out!! Don't look any further- go to Dr. Savage and you will love him.

My appointment was at 7.00pm and the doctor finally wandered in at 7.35pm in a tank top and said he'd been collecting his kids. He then proceeded to give a rambling lecture on earthquakes and when I asked what this had to do with the immunizations I needed he said he was just giving me information (as in fun fact). At that point I walked out.

Doctor is really knowledgeable and is able to diagnose with 100% correctness! Something that most doctors were not able to pin point my issue right away, he just took 15 mins to ascertain and I’m fine with his meds after almost 2 months of getting through multiple doctors. I strongly recommend him!

  • Alex Camacho

Tried making an appointment as a new patient, asked to have my insurance benefits verified by the receptionist and she was very short and couldn’t give me a straight answer on cost and hung up on me. Not looking to be seen by a clinic that doesn’t care for bringing in new patients.

Needed to see a Dr. ASAP. Decided to try Dr. Savage. Called at noon they scheduled an appointment for 5:30pm same day. Very quick professional. In and out in less than 30 minutes. Decent price. Coupon for prescription. Definitely would recommend.

  • Moritz Kleinstraß

The Doctor really seems to know what he is talking about. I had to wait 30min longer than my scheduled appointment and he was really hard to understand since I'm a foreigner but his knowledge just blew me away.

We were visiting SF when my son became ill. The experience here was top notch, Dr. Jim was both professional and very pleasant. I can but recommend this establishment to anyone requiring medical attention.

  • Red rose For you

The only doctor I trust. He is very humble, he doesn't talk to you like he is above you beacause he is a doctor. He answers all your questions. Been to many doctors and I trust his knowledge the most.

I've been to so many doctors in Germany, but I’ve never learnt so many things about my ears, as I’ve heard from him today. In my opinion he is the best doctor I’ve ever met! Thank you doctor!
