Bought a used suburban last year and had to have the AC condenser replaced. I was surprised such a new car would have that problem but I looked it up and it’s very common. I agreed to the repair and all seemed well for the better part of a year. I brought it back in after the system blew warm again and found out they had changed ownership. I showed them my paperwork and they went to work checking everything that had been previously serviced. They couldn’t locate any issues and recharged my system for free. They let me know it might be an ongoing ordeal until the leak reveals itself. It took 3 more attempts but they found it! The leak was coming from the rear evaporator. These guys never charged me for any of the follow up diagnostics or for continuing to charge my AC to keep me cool while they dug out the leak! We were able to get it fixed up and have cold air again! Casey and his crew were great the whole time!

My name is Carla, I dropped my suv off Friday at 10 am. I had an appt to get a tune up, tire rotation and an alignment. I arrived back at the location around 5:50 pm and my car wasn’t ready. Employer Conner advised me they didn’t do the alignment or tire rotation because one of my tires were spreading. He also stated I didn’t need a tune up yet. Tuffys dropped the ball because no one called me to informed me I needed a tire I would’ve told them to put a new tire on or I could’ve came and got my car earlier and got it handled had i known. Nonetheless Conner told me he wouldn’t charge me today as if they did anything to my car to even charge me. Tuffys wasted my time made me miss my family small get away. And no one cared they just send me on my way. I feel as though someone should’ve called me and told me To resolve the issue or see what I wanted to do. I am unhappy with the service.

MaxCare customers (this Tuffy's is a partner of Carmax) BEWARE! The good - if you use these after an apt is set by Carmax, you pay $0 deductible..... The bad - Diagnostic fee that MAY get covered with claim. I made my appointment and discussed with Brian, who seemed like the manager, informed me there would be a $200 diagnosis before claim could be filed to see if repairs would be covered, which could include diagnostic fee. I told him what repair was needed up front but said diagnostic fee was still required. I walked out. Also, your 8:30 greeting shouldn't be, "You're our last customer because we have a leak coming from our restroom." Tuffy's on Racetrac road does Not charge an inspection fee and still made the claim for us via MaxCare!! The difference....better customer service and $50 deductible for not using a "partner". I'll take that any day.

I’ve been taking my Xterra to Tuffy for several years now and, while I travel a lot, I do everything I can to make sure my vehicle is taken care of at this business. I have never had a negative experience with any tier of staff that I have communicated with. They will do everything they can to get you back on the road if you have an emergency—I’ve waited on my car and seen several walk-ins taken care of as quickly as they could. However, these are rare cases and you should make an appointment for regular maintenance. They maintain communication with you so you’re not wondering what’s going on and how long you’ll be without your car. The staff, in it’s entirety, has always been so kind and helpful and they even follow up with you a day or two later to make sure you’re satisfied. I highly recommend this business for your vehicle.

Reliable, honest and high quality of work.. Highly recommend! UPDATE : Aug 2023....Tuffy has been purchased /aquired by Mavis. Ive always loved Tuffy, been going there for years. It was family owned and high quality, friendly service all the time. And also reasonable prices. Since Mavis has come along, things have changed. Most of the Tuffy guys are gone. The prices for a synthetic oil change is over $100 now, used to be $69. They forget to top off windshield wiper fluid and act like its an inconvenience when you bring it to their attention. They also discontinued the Snap financing program which was REALLY helpful for expensive repairs. I hate when big corporations aquire small reliable businesses. They are never the same. Goodbye Tuffy.

My brake light had been on in my truck for about a week. Couldn’t get a reading on my old test meter. Finally stopped at Tuffy Auto Service on Beach Blvd on Tuesday. Explained my problem to Anthony. He got his meter and tested my truck. He couldn’t get a reading. He took out his phone a Googled something. He went back inside and got some brake fluid, topped off my reservoir and lo and behold the light went out to my embarrassment. He probably spent at least 15 minutes diagnosing my issue. Anthony wouldn’t take any payment from me. I haven’t had customer service like this in a long time. I recommend you visit Tuffy when you need service! I know I’ll be back!

Really fantastic experience at Tuffy. I brought my 2006 4Runner which ended up needing new front brakes. Prices were very reasonable and they had my car fixed and out the door within the day. I worked with Matt at the desk who was awesome! Really, everyone there was helpful and had a great attitude. Several of the mechanics (wish I could remember names) took the time to explain my issue, tried to save me money on parts, and showed my 3 year old daughter around who was very excited to see the garage. Hopefully no car troubles for a while, but if I have an issue, this is the only place in Jax I’ll be taking it!

Great service but SUPER PRICEY Edit: Just picked up my car and asked if the tech themselves could explain everything that was done and Jeff did an amazing job going over everything that was originally wrong and what was done to fix the situation and went above and beyond. I’ve been to three different mechanics over the past year trying to get my ac fixed and been charged well over a thousand dollars and repairs that aren’t what I actually needed and it took Jeff less than a day to figure out what the real issue was and had it fixed and returned to me a few days after. Give Jeff a raise!

I only regret not having found Ray & his crew earlier. I had been playing roulette with shops/mechanics that were recommended to me, and I ended up with more problems than "fixes." When I finally took my old truck (all the way out to the BEACH *from Oakleaf) to see Ray & his crew, I was blown away by how efficiently he was able to accurately locate & address every single issue after listening to my earnest attempts to describe the various growl/thwap/tinkyclinky/etc type noises. He knew exactly where to look and found everything. My little old truck runs like a dream now!

Paid for rear brakes,rotors and caliper on vehicle here last may. For some reason 15k miles later the brakes were wore out. Spoke to on phone and was notified they changed computer systems and didn't have old records but Luckily I had my receipt and was able to drop off and get back in same day. Another set of brakes and rotors were done with zero charge or without complications. Was glad to see the new owners had zero issues with doing warranty work from last year. Thanks again guys and hopefully this set last longer than a year, which I'm sure they will.

The experience here was incredible. I appreciate the personalized service, fully acknowledging my needs and concerns. They very kindly explained the issues so that I could understand them. There was never any pressure to do more than I wanted, but they did educate me on future needs for the cars. They took their time to be sure to double and triple check everything that they serviced. They have great people skills, but aren't the best at estimating times. If you are in a hurry, I would go to Mavis right down the road. I spoke to someone Tuesday about bringing my car in Thursday to drop it off. They assured me that it would be done at lunchtime. So, I brought my car in a little after 7am Thursday and headed to work. I called around 10:30-10:45 and no one had looked at my car. I asked when they would have it done and they said between 2 & 3. I have used Tuffy before and they were great, but timing on this was less than ideal.

The first two visits dealing with Josh and Connor were great. This last visit will make me NEVER return to this location again. Third time (in 4 months) for the car to be in the shop for the same issues and they want to say that it is now $1500 to fix the issue when I’ve already paid them over $800 for what they originally said the problems were, and come to found out that they did not even complete part of the service that I brought the vehicle in for (oil change). Give your money to a shop that actually cares and pays attention to detail.

Had gone to Tire Kingdom previously for two new tires, and shortly thereafter I started getting an engine message intermittently. Per Tire Kingdom, they referred me to their sister company Tuffy. I dealt with Casey, who was very responsive. They could not replicate the issue, but kept the car snd drove it around a little to try to ensure I’d be safe driving. They did not charge me as they couldn’t diagnose the issue. I was very pleased, felt taken care of, and I know I’ll be back. Thank you, Casey!

Updating my review to sing more praise about Tuffy! They always do a fantastic job and are always honest with me about what’s going on with my car. They are quick and courteous! I have been going to Tuffy for a little over a year now, and I have nothing but amazing praise for this location! They are incredibly kind and professional, and have helped me get to the bottom of car troubles on more than one occasion. They are fair priced too! Shout out to Derrick and Casey for being so awesome.

I probably have 6-10 closer shops for oil changes, but the service, quality and cost are worth the drive to Tuffy's. Sure, it takes a bit longer to get services done, mainly because they're twice as busy (and in demand) than anyone else on the block- which tells you all you need to know about how good they are. My only criticisms; 1) they need to buy the ice cream shop next door for more parking and 2) does the lobby TV have any other shows besides 'Fixer Upper' on HGTV ;-)

Received excellent service yesterday and today (9/22/23). Dropped my car yesterday afternoon and expected to leave it for a couple days. Received a call today, again expecting the "bad news", but not only was there no bad news, the car was ready to be picked up! Over delivering is a great business model to live by. Every person I spoke to on the phone and came in contact with in the store was professional and so courteous!! Great job all around!!

Made an appt a week in advance for an oil change first thing in the morning and still waited 2 hours for my car to be done. I waited at the shop too. I’ve been coming here for a while since it was a tuffy before. Since it’s changed to a Mavis, the customer service is horrible. The managers can’t seem to get it together and don’t really care about the former customers. The communication is horrible. I will never go here again.

Always a wonderful store! I’ve been taking my car here for many years and also recommend this store to friends and family with how well they handle any situation i throw at them! I usually talk to Ray or Kasey and cant get enough at how kind and how much they actually care for my car! If you need your car fixed, this is the place to go! Or if you just need some new tires or oil, they can also handle that pretty quickly!

Tuffy Auto Service Center is by far one of the best auto service centers I've had the experience of going to. Aside from their great customer service, they provided me with pictures and videos of damages they found during their inspection. I have never been to a shop where they provide such transparent service and I will definitely be happy to take another vehicle to them should the need ever arise.

Excellent car care services. I went here for a long cranking issue for the ignition and the tech Anders came out and talked to me about a few things that may be the problem because my car is modified. Because of this they suggested I go to Stage 6 motorsports to fully resolve the issue past their initial tests. They were always helpful and reasonable when it came to pricing and communication. 10/10

First time taking my car here, after the guys over at mavis suggested it. I didn’t know what to expect but it turned out to be a great experience. Kaycee was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Moved to Jax almost two months ago and have had multiple issues since my arrival in the city. I stumbled upon this shop because it was nearby where I caught a flat and figured it just made sense. Took it to these guys once and i’ve been back every time since. They’re attentive, transparent and accommodating. I doubt i’d go anywhere else at this point.

I called before to schedule an oil change but due to a family situation I was unable to agree to any particular time but they worked with me. Not only that but my brake light was out and they did it for me no charge. From beginning to end the staff was friendly and helpful. I am thoroughly happy with my service, quality of work and price.

My headlight went out Saturday night and needed it repaired. I used Tuffy on Beach Blvd before and was surprised they were opened on Sundays. After expecting the light it was found that I needed a bulb and some wires secured. Derek & Peter took care of the issue and I was on my way in less than 20 mins. AWESOME Customer Service!!

Not only did they do my patch job on the house, but they also replaced a bulb for my indicator light for FREE just because they wanted me to be safe on the road. I been to different shops throughout jacksonville and Tuffy’s is the best by far! Fair pricing and they are really good about keeping your appointments. Had alignment done and had the appointment at 2pm. I got there about 15 minutes early and right around 2:00 they had the car on the rack. Keep up the good work!
