So I applied for C1D visa and done with my biometrics at VAC( visa appointment centre).Next day I reached the embassy by 8.15 am since my appointment time was 8.30 am . Don't worry if you are late because long queues and you have to go through security several times . Anyways coming to point , as instructed I was carrying my documents in a transparent file folder along with my cellphone and a wallet but you can carry any colour of file folder as many were carrying too also your backpack which you will have to submit outside at the counter and you'll be charged 50 rs also your phone will also be withheld at a charge of 50rs . You'll be provided with a receipt for the same to collect your bag and your cellphone so total 100rs you will have to pay . Thereafter you will joining the queue upon showing you appointment confirmation letter . You will go through a normal security check and as the queue moves you'll reach upto the desk where you'll be asked for your passport . The person at the desk will scan the barcode on the sticker which you got at the VAC . You'll be told to proceed forward inside the embassy . 4 person at a time are allowed at the second check point where you will go inside and a security check just like you go through at the airport will be carried out . After clearing that you will be told to collect your items and proceed further . Inside is a sitting area and washroom and a water cooler and a small canteen . Before heading inside make sure you set your hair well and take a pee , drink some water and then go for the interview . Inside still a long queue but process is fast, you will have to give your biometrics and then told to move towards the councellor for interview . Indians working there will guide you and will take care of everything . All councellors taking interview were Americans and all the ground staff was Indian though .For C1D I wasn't asked too much and just a 5-10 min conversation with the councellor all it took to get my visa approved . She asked what kind of vessel you are joining , what work you do on ship , joining date and place and what if my air compressor breakdown so answered all . Those who came for B1/B2 visa were questioned thoroughly like family income , your work experience in detail , your purpose of stay and all of that . Once you are done the councellor will collect your passport and inform you that your visa is approved and you'll receive it in a week .By 9.30 am I was out from the embassy . P. S : you don't require photo for fresh application as it will be clicked at the VAC. Also 1 appointment confirmation letter, 1 company cover letter and 1 DS 160 . It will only be checked and given back to you . As of 19th June recieved email regarding delivery . Went to the blue dart centre, paid 650 rs and got my passport . Also carry one ID - Aadhar card or your Driving Licence

B1/B2 VISA Consulate Interview for me and my wife in New Delhi completed in Delhi —Total process took almost 45 mins. We went by our own car with son. They don't allow to park the car nearby so after dropping us he conveniently waited in a colony at Malcha Road. There was a queue on the pavement itself. Total five steps were there. As a first step our screening was done. Then we stood in the queue. Secondly our Passports were checked and ticked. We proceeded further in queue. Then we entered the building area. Thirdly our Passports were again checked and ticked. Fourthly our biometric was done by placing four fingers on the machine. Then we were sent in a bigger building inside. Here there is a big waiting area. Queue was systematically formed. Lastly it was Interview round. There were around 21 interview counters out of which 11 were working that time. As per my estimate Interviews were lasting varying from 2-7 mins barring a few exceptions. Our interview lasted for just 2-3 mins or so .... Questions Asked- 1) Why you are travelling to USA ? Ans - For tourism and to meet our daughter. 2) Where is your daughter ? Ans - In Washington 3) What she do ? Ans - Told her job status 4) Do you have grandchild ? Ans - Told yes one grandson 5) What do you do ? Ans - I retired from Govt Job. 6) How long will you staying in US ? Ans - Maximum upto 2 months 7) Travelling first time to US ? Ans - Yes 8) Do you have any friend there ? Ans - Yes one close friend 9) Where he lives ? In North Carolina (Interviewer herself told as it was mentioned in my DS 160) Ans - I confirmed and told exact place, on which she smiled. 10) Question to my wife - What do you do ? (Interviewer herself told Housewife) Ans - My wife nodded in affirmation and I confirmed saying Home maker on which she again smiled and congratulated us and said your Visa is approved and this will be delivered to your home address, as I opted for the Delivery. No documents other than Passports were seen. Though as per the advise I took lot many supporting documents like last 3 years IT Returns, Bank Statements, Financial details (Savings, FDs, Shares, Mutual Funds etc), Property related. But they were not required in my case. By the way as per our observations mostly Visa was granted but there were few rejections as well. So better to be well prepared and well equipped. We didn't carried mobiles with us. But, there is a small counter outside where people were depositing. After completing of our interview, we requested a person who came to deposit his mobile to allow us a call. We called our son who came to pick up. Finally our long awaited US Visa Issuance program came to an end. All the best

Questions asked in my visa interview - Why you want to go usa? -is any your relative residing at USA? - Have you been apply for USA before - in which other country you have traveled before ? - what are you doing? - What is your annual income ? - how many days you are planning to stay in USA ? - in which city are you visiting ? My brother is US citizen. She asked - What is your brother doing in USA? -What is the status of your brother ? - in which city he is residing in USA? They are not asking for any document. There is locker facility for mobile and bag and luggage on mobile. You have to pay ₹50 per mobile and that is separate 100 rs for luggage. There is no specific timeline for interview. If you are allocate time is before 12 noon, you can go any time from morning till 12 noon .my interview timing was 10 AM. I reached there at 8:30 AM and there is a little long queue . at that time the person who had appointment time at 11:30 has already completed his interview at 9 AM . so they allow you to go for the interview before your time. It’s better to reach there at least one and a half to two hours before your interview timing. Process. - security check Not allowing any things other then document file, small purse and water bottle. Baby food and diapers allowed - Outside they checked your passport sticker - Again security check , if water bottle, they will ask you to drink some water - thn you will proceed to window for biometric verification. They will check your finger print of any one hand. - join line for final interview - Attender will send you to interview window when your turn comes Around 15 windows are there Tips - Be confident and positive - be honest and not hesitate to ask again if you don’t understand the question - Give particular answers in reasonable length only - try not to be over smart - Most of them can understand hindi also They are very kind and helpful, so do not get upset or anxious. I hope you will like my information Best of luck

The entire operation of visa application and processing in India has been fine-tuned over the years, and is now quite efficiently run. You are advised to arrive at the embassy just in time for your visa interview to avoid overcrowding outside the embassy. Time slots are assigned, and applicants are invited to enter the consular section in batches based on their interview time. One of the most important things to bear in mind is that no electronics (read mobile phones mainly) are permitted inside. It is therefore advisable to leave your electronic devices, either at home, or at your place of residence in Delhi, or with friends outside the embassy. Documents are required to be carried in a transparent folder. The consular officers appear to be quite fluent in Hindi and Punjabi as well, in addition to their own language: English. THE ENTIRE VISA INTERVIEW PROCESS TAKES ABOUT TWO TO THREE HOURS. It is therefore advisable to allow three hours for the process, and if you finish in less time, that becomes a desirable bonus.

I am an american born citizen holding an american passport who has dealt with this embassy several times over the past 20 years into current day. In all these years I have never once been allowed to speak by phone, email or in person with an american agent. Every time I am only permitted to speak or correspond with an unconcerned, lackadaisical Indian who is of no help whatsoever. The automated system is a worthless nightmare which never gives any of the answers which you called to obtain. This embassy is a time wasting embarrassment and a menace to americans abroad. If the american agents are unwilling to do their jobs, and unwilling to communicate with americans who need answers or assistance, then they should be relieved of their duties and sent back to america. What are we taxpayers paying them for exactly? The embassy staff are servants of the american taxpayers, and they should be severely reprimanded and reminded of this fact.

The complete process of the consulate took 1 hour in which you need to go through 4-5 doors, electronic items and mobile phones are not allowed. Basic questions were asked . Which company are you working for and how long have you been working with it? Which is the visa you are traveling? Which city will be travelling to?. What are your roles and responsibilities in your company? What is your annual salary? Give your answers honestly and to the point and your visa is approved. I went for B1 Visa and it was only 5-7 minutes for the interview. Good to carry the documents if they will ask you might need to show the asked documents.. PS: keep your phone at a paid facility which is available for 1 item 50 Rupees. A Keeping bag facility is also available on the entrance however charges might differ.

Nice embassy, good hospitality services and also excellent electronic gadgets. well organized. Just need more seating for the oldies that come for the interview. Appreciate the Visa Officer providing very clear details on next steps. My Visa could not be approved right away due to system issues, but the Visa Officer assured me that it will as soon as system is up. Still, I was worried because till the time you do not have the Visa in hand, you cannot really be sure. But, I trusted the Officer's word and left. The tracking site showed "Refused" for 3 days and then updated to "Issued". I received my Passport in 5 working days.

USA embassy just do a formality for F1 visa. They give rejection to students without any reason. USA government make it a money making business. A student go for the interview after completion all F1 requirements even after got approval from USA Universities than how Visa officer reject them. It means USA education system completely Fake. USA government not trust on their own universities and education system. When I asked to VO to share the reason, his face completely shown that he has no reason for my rejection. He intrupted me when I was explaining why I chose my university. F1 visa interview totally waste of money.

I would have given it a -5 star if that was an option. Worst experience in my life. Parents who accompany students have no where to wait. Security made them stand on a side walk. When questioned about the same , the security warned me saying my visa will be in trouble. They make students stand in queues on footpath without any shade under the hot sun. I was about to collapse due to exhaustion till the time I entered the consulate. This is absolutely unacceptable. Applicants pay in thousands for a visa interview and they are made to go through hell. WORST CONSULATE EVER.

First there is a queue for phone and bag submission, may take around an hour depending on strength. Better to take someone with you, to hand them these things. Then you'll have to go through some checking, takes around half an hour, this will start 5-10 minutes prior to your interview time on appointment. Then, finally you wait for your interview in the embassy, may take around 1 -1. 5 hour. Edit : had my interview on 3rd of August and had my passport delivered to Dehradun on 12th of August.

Safety is their priority so remember one thing. Try not to carry electronic items except mobile phone. That you can keep in locker outside US embassy. Try not to carry bag. If you carry one then you have to keep it outside locker room. Carry documents in a proper file and you can take that file with you inside US embassy. Only negative point was that sometime they only open 3 counters out of many. Due to which we have to stand in long que. Everything else is well organized.

  • ASHOK KUMAR ALLU

Important thing: don't bring electronic gadgets such as laptops, smart watches etc. There is a locker facility available and there is a huge queue to deposit. 50 rupees is chargeable for each item. Phones can be kept here. Bags should be kept outside near security. The entire process is hassle free and guided by security. It's better to go early as they don't see timings and allow irrespective of timing. It takes around 1 hour from entry to exit.

  • Shilanjoy Bhattacharjee

Highly secured place, I was checked througly 2 times one by the security outside and then by the security inside. You can keep your mobile in the opposite counter they take around Rs. 50 for mobile. Take out your passport and move forward the gates and doors are quite heavy to open need to push them hard. I was bit nervous that day, but it was done. And don't try to take pictures infront of security guard they might take your mobile.

  • Abhishek Sarkar

Please don’t bring any electronic gadgets including mobile phone. They used to have a locker initially now they have discontinued the same. The nearby chai wala charged rs 100 to keep mobile. The bags were stored by an auto wala who was also charging some money, which I am not aware. But would suggest either to get some one from your family with you to take care of electronic stuff and bags. Or not carry it in the first place

  • Pradeep Saxena

U S Embassy is such a high importance international place for us visa aspirants but there is no place for accompanying persons for waiting n toilets. People have to wait around three hours and they get tired n stressed especially senior citizens n children. So I suggest that embassy is such a big agency. It can make seats arrangements n toilets in the waiting area. It will be very welcoming from the suffering people.

  • Tony

Went for h1b interview. The whole process was smooth and staffs were there to streamline. If you are on tight schedule you can come early prior to the scheduled time. Only things allowed inside embassy is wallet and documents folder. Nothing else. Also there is no constraint regarding folder type, size or transparency. Just it should not be sealed. Interview took 7 minutes. Whole process 50 minutes.

  • Mujtaba

A beautifully kept, well-guarded facility that offers most of the basic amenities for applicants. The embassy staff was kind and modest. Long wait times prior to interviews or related work because of the overwhelming number of people applying for visas. No photography, electronic items are allowed, including smart watches and mobiles. Parking is also a concern. Otherwise, a trouble-free encounter.

  • Mudeser Tanveer

They are earning $185 (non refundable) with 99.99% rejection rate. if they don't approve the request, the payment must be refunded. But the beggar US government nothing returns anything i.e. visa fee + time. So if anyone have a lot of money, instead of applying there, help the poor community of your countries. Damn the US government.

  • Vishal Jindal

Worst experience, They made the visitors sit under direct sunlight that also on the roadside, pathetic way of treating the civilians. Also people appearing for the interview inside the embassy, they also do not got the air conditioned place, even they don't have the ceiling fans. Didn't expected this kind of service.☹

  • Arpan Kumar

mine appointment was in the morning 7:20 I reached there around 6:50 they started letting people in by 7'o clock the whole process was smooth and flawless in just 25 minutes the whole process was completed. The staff was kind and supportive. For private vehicles Nearest parking is at Malcha Marg 600 m away..from embassy

  • Nandan Chhabra

Do not bring your mobile phones, there's no locker in place,as of the day of writing. If there's anyone accompanying you, their experience will not be very great as there's absolutely no facility for them, no shed, no place to sit or even stand comfortably. Experience inside the embassy is smooth and managed.

  • Shahil Khuman

Respected officer, we are paying thousands of rupees and after travelling thousands of kms and for 1 minutes interview we are paying 50000 INR , please talk with us without mask , I got rejected just because of your employees wearing mask , this is not acceptable.

  • Pulkit Jain

Polite and professional staff, the ques are long so you can reach about an hour or half before appointment time. There is locker for bag and phone (@50 rs/item) and they will give you a token. Please carry change, the counter is mostly out of change.
