Recently was admitted to UMC trauma. My experience was above excellent! Congestive heart failure and internal bleeding, staff was exceptional every nurse I dealt with was extremely compassionate and caring, every doctor was very professional and friendly and very informative. I’ve been admitted to other hospitals in the past and have had nurses who were rude and ignored my medical needs and doctors who never gave me the information I was looking for and some I never saw, BUT this was not the case at UMC, every nurse that oversaw me were constantly checking on me and my comfort, always making sure I wasn’t in pain and so nice it was almost like being with family. The rooms were always clean, food was served on time and with the over the top care of the staff my moral was high even though I was going through traumatic issues. I would like to especially thank Dr. Joel Schirding my cardiologist. He not only constantly checked in on me before and after surgery but kept me completely informed on a daily basis on my health and progress. Due to Covid-19 restricting any visits my wife was unable to visit me and was very worried about me during my hospital stay, Dr. Schirding in my presence would call my wife and keep her updated on my status thus keeping her worry free on my condition. I’m grateful to Dr. Schirding for his kindness and his warm ness, always a smile on his face, thank you Dr. Schirding!!! Also a huge thank you to all the nurses that looked over me, especially Anna and the traveling nurse Caitlin in ICU and Jackie in CCU who took such great care of me, full of conversation happiness and definitely attentive to me and my general attitude in there, you all made my experience 100% better by keeping my morals high I was able to heal while I was in there, and it made me appreciate how hard these nurses work and the extra effort they put in during these days of Covid-19, you nurses are beyond awesome and I appreciate all you did for me in there!! From now on if I have any issues that require me to go to the hospital it will only be at UMC, I know there I will get the best medical attention that Las Vegas has to offer!

On November 2nd 2018 my husband was treated at umc trauma for a laceration. Nobody called me to notify me he was there. In less than two hours from being released, I noticed blood coming from his gauze , when my husband was in the treatment area, he needed to go to the restroom, and the staff let him go in the main area where everyone goes with his hand full of blood, then he had to clean the blood from his hand cause the staff didn't even bother to clean him up. It was about an hour and a half when I noticed blood had went through his gauze, I took him to concenta asap and as soon as the staff saw the blood they took him back right away and as soon as the gauze was removed we can see why he was bleeding, the person who sutured my husband didn't even put enough suture there was so much space between the other sutures that's why he was bleeding I feel like they did a half way job just to get my husband out , horrible of them to do that he could have bled out, then to top it off my husband told the staff he was dizzy and they just gave him a pill under his tongue , sign papers and said he was good to go. I feel like this place did not do the best to help my husband, horrible way they didn't even suture him up completely and let him walk around all bloody, I won't recommend this place to another person horrible service and don't treat people with respect and dignity, this place doesn't deserve any stars

Now I don't go to the hospital very often (try to avoid that) but my travels do bring me to them from time to time, in the 10 years I've lived in sin city I've been to UMC trauma several times. First time I've actually checked in here to leave a review. I know I know Nevada is at the bottom of the list when it comes to medical care, long term or short term. But when it comes to our trauma center they are up there with the best. Las vegans should know that if they ever get shot or stabbed they are in good hands, I wouldn't go anywhere else in southern Nevada. UMC trauma has helped saved countless lives that otherwise would have been homicides, if it wasn't for them we'd have a higher number of murders in town. The staff is very professional and keeps you updated as often as possible. The security is very friendly and informative as far as visitors and house rules. While I don't know how their ER or rest of the facilities are like I can rest assure the trauma center is on their game.

We have been here 45 out of the past 65 days in and out for my granddaughter who is only 2 . She has a very rare disease that usually only attacks adults. So this has been a learning experience for us all. Trial and error but the entire staff has gone out of their way to accommodate us. It hasn't been an easy road by far and I had a series of outbursts as well, but at the end of the day dramatics aside the doctors were working on a treatment plan that could work for us all, because what she needs normally is an inpatient treatment but since she needs these treatments several times a week they're in the process of creating a space for outpatient treatment during special hours . So they have gone above and beyond for us so that we are able to take our baby home yet still get her the treatments she needs to keep her from having to spend weeks in the hospital every month. So Thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my ❤️ for creating this process for us.

I did not like it here that much I am the patient. The reason why I do not like being here is because the doctors in the Pediatrics thinks they know everything because they have a degree. even though I had this illness for MY WHOLE ENTIRE 16 YRs(I'm 16 yrs old) and i know what help my illness they don't listen and do what they want to do which hurts me. Then the nurse think they're doctors and want to take things away from you even though you need it, and it is needed for this illness( like my feet warmer, I need that because if my feet get cold I will go into a even worse crisis, because I need warmth with this illness). Like I was trying to ask the doctors if I can get this medication because it helps with my pain a lot that I deal with and they said no because the doctor was being lazy and did not want to prescribe it. If it was up to me I would not want to come back to this hospital but I don't have any other choice. This Hospital sucks.

It's unbelievable I have to rate 1 star! I'm so mad at Dr.James Bailey. He sent my husband home with 11 bumps on his body & a sore throat my husband could hardly talk. He caused us a $6000 cash pay bill & never offered antibiotics. I thought my husband had throat cancer or lymphoma. Well the emergency was on July 21. Today is Aug.12 & my husband is almost dead. We won't go back there. He gets insurance Sept.1, hopefully he won't be dead. We don't like Dr. James Bailey. This is the Adult Emergency Room not the Trauma Center. Please know it was ONLY DR.JAMES BAILEY WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THUU IS ERROR! Not the ER or the hospital. Look at the picture of what was on my husbands chin & the doctor shrugged his shoulders! I wish I could Sue him!

UPDATE: The doctor I was suppose to call the next day wasn’t open. Left him a voicemail. Never heard back. Was pressured to come here after visiting the UMC Quick Care.( UMC ON Centennial was a waste of everyone’s time there) Waited hours for just eye numbing drops and dye. Could not help my child. Called the specialist. He couldn’t be bothered to come and now wants me to come to him the next day. A waste of an entire day. To a clinic even further form where we are now. Never go here!!!! The rooms are not great. It doesn’t feel safe. Medical equipment doesn’t even work in the rooms.(Actually confirmed by working staff) A strange man was pounding on an EXIT only door for me to let him inside. This place feels scary.

Amazing Hospital, Nurses, and Doctors. Arrived at 4 am, and family member was seen by a doctor. Around 7 am, was moved to a quieter area and given medicine. 8am nurse Jason came to answer questions and was very knowledgeable and took his time. ER doctor came 2x to check between 9 and 10. 10:30 Dr Tamaya gave consult and admitted patient. Wonderful Dr, very knowledgeable, professional, and bedside manner is on point! I wouldn't trust another hospital, especially after a horrible experience at Southern Hills. I saw every patient being treated with care and the medical staff being very attentive. Would recommend this hospital above others.

Nobody wants to go to the hospital, but during a recent family emergency, the staff at UMC trauma center came through. I rushed to check on a loved one and then had to leave them to go get items from their house. When I returned, my relative was in good spirits and said the nurses were knowledgeable and kind. Despite the difficult situation, I’m happy they were there being cared for. I took a break in the cafeteria and the lunch staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was surprisingly good too! I hope to never be back to this location, considering the reason people come here, but if I have to, I feel like I’ll be in good hands.

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever seen and that is including 3rd world country hospitals. My brother has been treated worse than hitler would be in an all Israeli staff care unit. Doctors are to incompitant to show up to a patients room to make sure there are no complications from surgery. They will not give you aftercare instructions they will give you a paper that has a link to portal in it that does not work. Please have your malpractice lawyer selected before arriving at this hospital as you will need them when you leave.

  • Nicole Garcia

My daughter was in the trauma side and by far the best care was given. And EVERY single staff member was amazing. And a special shout out to ALL the nursing staff on the 5th floor 7th tower you guys went above and beyond to make my special needs daughter feel safe and informed in a way she could understand. And helped me be less stressed in a four day hospital stay.. Again my deepest thanks to all the medical staff that showed so much caring. Much love Nicole and Hayley...

  • Maria Gutierrez

I must admit that at first I was angry at this hospital and I was wrong for all my assumptions after my lil sister passed they gave us a copy of her heartbeat and a teddy bear with my sisters heart beat to all 5 of her babies and for that I'm very greatful and you guys deserve 5 stars+ thank you for also giving us 48 hours extra to spend it with my beautiful lil sister, I honestly am very thankful for everyone there, God bless you all!!!!

  • whoismalaysia

Not everyone is mean here, most of the nurses/ doctors are nice but I have had people that were flat out rude & I couldn't do anything because I couldn't go home nor did they have to listen, help, nor be nice to me. I've unfortunately run into those same people at other hospitals so I now avoid numerous (2) hospitals in Vegas. You cannot trust everybody (but overall this is not an bad hospital, just one......two rude apples in the basket)

  • Lissette Perez

This place is amazing. The doctors and nurses are so caring and compassionate. My family and I are unbelievably gratefulfor everything they have done to save my sister's life. After some of the worst days I've ever experienced, I came in to find her with a beautiful french braid in her hair. It filled me with hope and made me feel even more secure that when we rest, someone is always protecting her. Thank you ❤️

  • Frances Flores

First off the staff most of them are rude ,you could walk up to desk and stand there and unless you say something first they will ignore you been here almost 13 Hrs and they keep giving the run around I think they only have one Dr. because we never saw him .. came in at 6:45 pm and still here it's 7:40 am now , well let's see what happens times like this wish I was @ LAC USC ..

And Jeri Lynn, and especially our case worker Rhonda. Thank you trauma team for all your care and hard work. P.S. For the names I may have forgotten thank you very very much!

  • Adriana Becerra

Worst experience ever ER staff is very disrespectful including security and front office, bald security guy was being very rude, if he doesn’t like working there he should quite or even better be fired! Nurses didn’t help at all either, Please do not come to this hospital as you all can see many people have had bad experiences here and bad service!!!

  • moe turner

The er nurses are rude, and the er itself is incredibly dirty. I felt like i was getting sicker just sitting and waiting to see a dr. I was actually told by a nurse that i didnt look sick enough to see a dr.. ( i was there at the request of urgent care). Never again . Ill stick to valley!!

  • Gabrielle Stewart

They are not separating covid-19 patients. Went to the ER because that's the only entrance I could go to that would go to labor and delivery. Got coughed on by someone who said they tested positive for covid-19. They had a fever of 104.6 and they sat them in the regular waiting room

  • Peter Murray

Nice staff but I am polite by nature. Horrible experience. I was sat in hallways. My IV taken out in the waiting room in front of everyone in there ( HIPPA laws people)There was false documentation on my discharge papers it’s definitely a learning hospital. . Go somewhere else!!

  • Jacqueline Lowery

My daughter is 8weeks and 3day pregnant and we been here over 2hrs and they have not seen her yet. They say this is a good hospital but that's a lie. She having pain and still nothing. Yet her miscarriage we gone have a problem. What is wrong with these hospitals.

  • Oscar Rivera

I don't know what to say about the hospital because I was practically dead while my family and friends were there to visit me after the accident but I'm still alive. So I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me out while being there. …

  • Zhen L

Absolute the worst. We had an emergency on the way traveling here, some of the receptionists are rude, the doctor can’t be reached any time all day and night, despite of our frustration of traveling and plans had to be made, very little information was shared.

  • Jason Hoffman

A friend of mine is currently in the Trauma center after being shot at work, but Im not allowed to go see him until 9am? What happens at 9 that is so much more important than supporting a friend AFTER BEING SHOT?!! This is neither sensible nor compassionate.

  • Michael Cassidy
