My family and I have been coming to Uncle Ed's for decades now, and we now enjoy bringing our children who look forward to going there. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and have treated us like family over the years. The food is always extremely delicious and consistent. Our children love the borscht, along with the perogies. I always get the meatball plate as it reminds me of the meatballs my Baba used to make; they're definitely homemade. The sweet cabbage rolls, cheese crepes and cheese buns are tasty as well. Be aware that there's always lots of onions and bacon on the perogies, but they'll reduce the amount or not add them upon request. The dessert pies are all homemade and have flaky crusts made the old fashioned way. The prices are very reasonable considering the amount of food you'd get. once you're done with your meal, you can pick up the items you enjoyed from the deli that shares the space to take home. We'll definitely continue to visit Uncle Ed's restaurant.

Parking is a bit of a premium, especially at busy times of the year like holidays and long weekends. But there is quite a bit of street parking available.
Kid-friendliness
Kids are provided with crayons and colouring sheets.
Wheelchair accessibility
There are a couple of handicap parking stalls, as well as ramps to access the building. All tables have chairs aside from the 4 booths.

Excellent homestyle Ukrainian food with a little bit of a twist here and there. Very tasty and filling. Prices are fair. A very clean establishment. On both sides of the restaurant and shop side. The only drawback was that we arrived at 5:30 PM not realizing that they close at 6 PM, however being hungry we did order and we’re served quickly and efficiently so my only really negative comment and the only reason why I would give them four stars is that I think this location could easily stay open till maybe 8 PM. Again part of the problem probably is on the HR side and getting staff.

Parking
It’s a paved parking lot. It could use a little bit of TLC but it’s not like full of potholes or ruts. It’s just a bit older and overtime will probably be replaced but for now it’s perfectly OK it’s just that it detract so we built from the aesthetics of the building.

Have eaten here many times. The food is always excellent. I've had more ethnically correct Ukrainian food at events in Alberta towns with a history of Ukrainian immigrant settlement. Uncle Ed's is as close to the real Ukrainian deal as you'll find in ethnically diverse Edmonton. I had the meatballs dinner which was great and Judy had the cabbage roll 1/2 dinner. Both dinners had cabbage rolls, perogies, crepes, meatballs etc, just more meatballs on mine and more cabbage rolls on Judy's. The service was good, quick and homey casual. The restaurant is part of a restaurant/ethnic food store. I love the frozen borscht but they seem to have reduced the size since pre-covid. I bought two borscht to make up for the size reduction but miss my giant vat of borscht so I took away an atmosphere star.

The food here was excellent! Fresh and tasted great! Our server has short blonde hair, I forget her name but she was so kind and very attentive. I came here with my grandmother on Aug 24 around 11:10am, she got borscht and I had the crepe, cabbage rolls and meatballs. When we were paying, I hope that same server noticed I put 10$ in the tip jar for her, my grandmother put maybe 1.50$ because I told her I would put the bigger tip in. I'm just not sure the server noticed and mightve thought we only put the 1.50. Next time, I'll leave it on the table so she can see we appreciated her service allot. We'll definitely be back, the food was absolutely great!

Pretty disappointing first experience here. When I called to place an order for pick up, I asked if all the sausage contains pork (I don’t eat too much sausage, I’m curious to know if they had other meats) and the lady on the other end laughed at me and patronized me for not knowing everything contained pork. I was a little hesitant on continuing ordering, but continued to finish my order and went to go pick up the food. The lady who served me seemed absolutely miserable and like she couldn’t wait for me to get out. I was hoping the experience would be saved by the food, but when I got home and opened it up I realized it was covered in bacon and onions, both of which I don’t like, and was not given the option if I wanted them on or not. Overall extremely disappointing customers service and food.

It was ok. On the store side I was going to buy Dutch almond cookies but the cashier saw mold on them. We went to the shelf and another package had mold as well so I did not purchase any. My friend and I went to the restaurant and had meals. I really liked the borscht and the sausage, but I found the rest of the food very bland. I only ate half of the meal. The atmosphere was ok, nothing special. It was very dark in the parking lot and difficult to maneuver the vehicle. This was my second time eating at Ed’s and probably my last.

Went for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised by how authentic the food was! Incredible! My husband had the bbq ribs plate and he said It tasted like his Ukrainian grandmothers food which was a huge compliment! I had the sauerkraut and potato plate, phenomenal! Everything was piping hot. The service is genuine. They expect you to order fast and I didn’t expect anything different from a Ukrainian place. I ordered a piece of apple pie and that was the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars, it was not good. Very dry and the apple filling didn’t have much flavour, maybe I just got one of the older pieces but I would be open to potentially trying another kind! All in all, I can’t wait to go back again!

Vidminno!! (Excellent in Ukrainian) the best Ukrainian food in Edmonton. For taste and value this is the best. The food was served fast and hot. The service was friendly and courteous. We did not have to wait long, although I have heard that there can be longer wait times at lunchtime or other peak times. We have been coming here lots over the years and have always enjoyed the food. It is not a large restaurant so that is why it can have longer wait times. The cheddar cheese pierogies are melt in your mouth good. The combo plate of pierogies, crepes, sweet cabbage rolls, ribs is the best. The restaurant is clean as is washroom. Just love this place and will continue to come. Oh and by the way they also have a retail store that sells the Stawnichy’s sausage plus their pierogies.

Service here stands out. Very friendly, very helpful and quite efficient. The young lady was happy to engage in conversation and provide her recommendations with a smile. The food is really worth coming out for. I ordered the real deal. Sausage was great, cabbage rolls didn't blow my skirt up, perogies were solid options really quite good, but the cheese crepes with the dill cream sauce knocked my socks off. So very good. The best followup to such a great meal was the black berry pie. Fantastic! Nice ukrainian beer. Everyone here seemed to be enjoying themselves and their meal. Shares space with a nice though small market and meat counter.

Nice little restaurant/store combination with good food for a relatively cheap price. Looks like they haven't increased their prices much at all over the past few years either which is nice. They are currently undergoing renovations by the looks of it, but remain open for business. Would recommend this spot if you like Ukrainian food

A diner style place in a small deli/market. Service was AMAZING! Kind, helpful, gave a laugh. Brought samples of what we didn't know. The cabbage soup is excellent. The mundane sausage is very tasty. Good perogies. The cabbage rolls left a lot to be desired, but the chees crepes and buns were awesome. Definitely will be back over and over. Oh, and the peach mango pie was out of this world! Brought home some poppyseed cake, one of the best I've ever had, and cabbage soup, from the market.

Everyone was very nice, food was excellent, fast service and very very kind workers. I went in to eat with my son and hubby. When we were seated my 10 month old son was given a book to read, a toy to play with and an apple sauce all for free! Every worker made sure to come say hi to my son and make us all feel very welcomed! 10/10 recommend.

I’ve been wanting to try the cottage cheese buns and dill sauce so I came to Uncle Ed’s because of recommendations.. definitely not worth the $15 I paid for the 12 buns n dill sauce. All I can taste is bread, the dill sauce, well I can’t taste any dill, all I taste is cream. No flavour whatsoever, I will take my business else where. Not to mention the lady checking us out who stopped to take her medication right in front of us rudely.. I get that medication is important to take but please take it when there’s no customers. Will not be back, so disappointed ☹️

Update last week: Ate in restaurant and I had to update my review. The food was good. Came out hot and fresh and not like the delivery. Recommend eating in for freshest flavor and quality. Staff was friendly and attentive. If your going at a busy time, recommend a reservation as the place is not that big. 9 Months Ago: Got delivery last weekend. Food had loads of flavor and was well prepared. Some of the items didn't transport well for delivery and were a little mushy. Going to try eating at the restaurant as that might make a difference and will update review if changed.

If you enjoy great Ukrainian food and the best Ukrainian sausage our province has to offer, then you owe it to yourself to stop here. Staff are friendly and attentive, going that extra mile to make the experience more enjoyable. The perishke are large and delicious, definitely a bigger portion than I was expecting. Nalysnyky are also a must try! The perogies are also really good, we just were there a little late in the day so the ones we got were a bit chewier on the corners, but were still devoured by everyone at the table. Definitely will be back!

This spot is the answer to Ukrainian food as Italian Centre is to Italian. Part shopping, part sit down, delicious meals. Also distribution for mundare sausages. As I was dining I couldn't help but notice this pink guitar. I couldn't read too far away and afterwards, I got up close and it was an auctioned for breast cancer fundraising. Still not sure which musician? Very community oriented and worthy cause.

It had been six years since I was last in Uncle Ed's, and I'm glad to say the quality has not dropped in that time, if anything it has improved. My friends spoke very highly of the Borsch, and we got the special which was a pierogi poutine. The flavour was great and the portion generous, as well the proceeds went to assisting Ukraine in the war with Russia. I hope to be back again soon, and not let so many years pass in between. Go here as soon as you can! Слава Україні!

…. The emotional response I’ve had to this meal… this was my first time ordering and everything on the plate, from the pierogi to the cheese nalysnyky to the bun and cabbage rolls all tasted exactly like how my baba would make them when I was a kid. This meal has surfaced memories I’d forgotten I had. Have yet to visit in person but definitely checking out after this! TL;DR - authentic, beautifully made food full of love.

I came in hoping to have a taste of back home I was very disappointed. The food here is not comparable to authentic Ukrainian food. Varenyky are tough, Pyrizhky are flavourless. The Borscht was one of the worst parts of this meal. It is sad that people think that is what Borscht should taste like. Aside from the food, the service was good and attentive. I appreciate the little shop inside too.

If you are disabled, and you are with someone else, they don't ask you what you want. Several times now, they asked the people I was with what I would like, simply because I'm in a chair. Being in a chair does NOT MAKE ME MENTALLY INCOMPETENT. Other than that I would recommend them. Also, the deli area is wonderful and they have the best beef jerky ever.

Amazing experience at this restaurant - the perogies were amazing (onion and potato was my fave). It was packed when we came for lunch but the service was truly outstanding. Our waitress was well versed with the offering and provided great suggestions. She even brought out coloring books for our little one and kept her engaged. The Sundae was the icing on top. Highly recommended if you are in Edmonton!

Incredible service and meal at Uncle Ed’s. A true memory flash of how my hubby’s Grandma made it all. Fresh, filling and delicious food. The servers were all super and had colouring pages and scented crayons for the kids plus ice cream for dessert and goodie bags for Halloween! It’s as local as you can get - we will have to go more. The Happy Pop’s were also a blast from the past. Mmmmmmmm

Great lunch! The large bowl of borscht was just what I needed on a cold gloomy afternoon. You have to have borscht! Just like Mom's! It's tough to pick a favorite item so you get a combination plate! Yummy! Staff are very helpful and nice!

Wonderful food, fresh, tasty, and very filling. I had so much food that I needed a container for the excess.

The food was Ukranian. Excellent value for the price. Home grown atmosphere. The service was outstanding. The sausage was from Mundair. Family owned and operated. Great parking.

Yum! We got a full plate to share to try the different menu items. I think my favourite was the Nalysnyky. The server was kind and homey, which fit the vibe of the restaurant as a smaller business with a dedicated customer base.

Uncle Ed's is a diner type style restaurant, that is bolted onto a deli where they sell sausages, pepperoni and other smoked meats. The service was friendly and quite quick for the most part, but nothing really stand out to me.

Meatballs were ok, perogies we're ok, but cabbage rolls were tasteless, just plain rice slapped into a cabbage leaf. Very plain, no flavour.

Great perogies, very affordable for what you get, and the staff ladies are very nice and helpful. The service is quick too. It seems pretty popular in the neighborhood and amongst seniors customers.

Uncle Ed's combination dish #13 proved to be a great Hockey Fan pre-game meal. Oilers beat Capitals 4-1 whoop whoop! Tried some authentic Ukrainian beer too at U. Ed's. It was good.
