They seem more concerned with how much money they can drain from the students than on the education. I contacted the university asking about masters degree, they told me I had to pay and pass a very expensive test, I payed and passed the test only to have them say they couldn't admit me because my grades at my bachelor degree weren't good enough, they could have told me that in the first place and save my money and time but then they wouldn't have taken my money for free. I regret not saying this at the time but this is obviously a scam.

I don't know how it's even legal to have a grading structure on courses where regardless of the actual grade earned the top X% of the class get an A+, and the next X% get A, and so on. Not only does this rob students of their hard work, it pits them against each other and gives motivation to poorly review other students in peer evaluations. The worse everyone else does, the better you do. If everyone in a class puts in the work and gets a score of 98/100 they all deserve an A+ Absolutely infuriating.

Daughter with a decent GPA applied in December. She called every other week and they kept giving her the run around until May, when they denied her. They said she was missing a high school class but she had done it early so was actually ahead in math. They refused to admit their mistake and reconsider. HS counselor tried to help by contacting them and still nothing. So frustrating when she did everything right and had really wanted to go there. Admittance office soured us on the whole school.

This is one of worst university i ever see. The reviews 4.5/5 is autobot and it never happened with this quality, it cant be and i swear to god 9.5/10 complaining about this school. The parking is ridiculous. The president of uofm just tried to squeeze any last penny out of the student’s pocket. 4.2 or 4.0 for entering engineering or asper which is even high than York university and University of Manitoba is 650+ on World’s University ranking. Not worth it and very expensive, trust me.

The University of Manitoba (U of M, UManitoba, or UM) is a public research university in the province of Manitoba, Canada. Its main campus is located in the Fort Garry neighbourhood of southern Winnipeg with other campuses throughout the city. Founded in 1877, it is the first university of western Canada. The university maintains a reputation as a top research-intensive post-secondary educational institution and conducts more research annually than any other university in the region

  • Triple Threat

Attempted twice to obtain a degree from this institution. Disappointed both times by some of the attitudes from profs & directors. Essentially if you need extra assistance you are the problem, only, you’re not their problem. Further more, SAS is a joke. Not offering me any feasible options to help accommodate my needs which are well reasonable and NOT a modification from the curriculum. Just another business interested in your money, not you as an individual. Would not recommend!

  • Andy Jiang

The only university where engineering student need to study anthropology and indigenous people, ridiculous. A few profs doesn't even want to take their responsibilities in teaching, not preparing lectures and even stealing slides and homework from their colleagues. Raising tuition fee while everyone is studying remotely. Oh, our staffs are on strike? Don't even want your money back and they will lock down your access to the online study materials!

  • Jaimie Brown

Returning to the university now as a mature student, I’ve been surprised and disappointed by the lack of maintenance and upkeep of certain facilities. Also disappointed by the policies of the Asper faculty, in particular, which effectively block access for Extended Education students to courses required for admission to the CPA program. Still, quality of professors has been very good—friendly, knowledgeable, and interested in students’ success.

  • Matt Strachan

Terrible University, it's like they want you to fail so you have to keep giving them money. They have completely bungled distance learning and taking online classes here is essentially a very elaborate scam. Half of my classes don't even have lectures, I'm paying over a grand for access to powerpoints I have to learn on my own. Avoid this institution like the plague, no wonder the faculty is leaving en masse.

Its one of the best universities in Canada with more than 3000 students , more than 10 falcultues that offer numerous courses..its is located in the heart of Winnipeg and its is very competitive but affordable ...U of M as it popularly called is a beautiful place to study with more than 5 difference libraries within the school ..its achetectural work is splendid and it is has beautiful edifices

  • Michał Madziar

When I started attending here in 2003, MacLeans rated it the worst university in its category in Canada. After taking a BSc and working here for eleven years, I can readily appreciate their point-of-view. Like any university, it has its upsides and when I was young, the positive was all that I wanted to focus on. But after swimming in the deep-end, I could see how horrid it all really was.

  • Dream Weaver

U of M is the best. Profs treat you like equals and want you to succeed. Adequate places to study and go for a bite between classes. Plenty of security and police frequenting, so anyone who causes you or your classmate discomfort won't live to tell about it. When applying for student housing at Pembina Hall, whatever you do try to get a river-facing dorm for the beautiful view.

  • Meg-kee-sue Ikay

Indigenous students beaware very racist, including their Indigenous student center they shouldn't even call the center.t BIG MONEY PIT stay away from math 1010, faculty of Science is a nightmare, here that Kristina!! Science board members has no Indigenous representation. PROFESSORS fail or incomplete your courses n continue to suspend you after paying for their tuition .

  • Arthur Khamitov

Probably the worst university administration in Canada. They raised tuition fee while everyone was studying remotely. During the strike, the quality of education fell below the ground. Moreover, the university administration has blocked access to online educational materials! Perhaps even a CDI college provides a better education than the University of Manitoba. Very sad

  • Yunsu Kang

A one of the greatest universities in canada with lots of issues both for students (especially international students) and the professors (especially in the STEM faculties). The university itself is continuously under some sort of construction with lots of money they earned with all the issues, but the underground pathways are genuinely useful in the winter.

  • Sameer Ahmed

Note to international students. Beware. This place simply wants your money and always ask you to repeat the courses so you pay them and waste your time as well...they know you're here for the bridge to PR and they make full benefits out of it. Honest advice for international students look for a different uni or college in Manitoba.

  • Pastor Best Okereke

The University of Manitoba Canada has a very beautiful environment, with tight security, good road networks, accessible tunnels for students to use across buildings during winter and snowy periods, with a good and beautiful night views. Secondly, it has so many quite and comfortable reading areas and student relaxation spots.

  • Yecats Mehmel

During the covid 19 pandemic our classes switched to remote learning and they raised our tuition. Two strikes disrupted classes for over four weeks in total during my time here. I would recommend going to a different university or college if you have the option. If I could go back in time I would go to CMU instead.

  • PA NA

University of Manitoba is very awesome beautiful beautiful picturesque views great people wonderful wonderful facilities lots of parking also if you're interested in going to school at University of Manitoba I highly recommend you stop looking and just apply register and get down there today the place is immaculate

  • Muhammad Talha

The University of Manitoba is a Canadian public research university in the province of Manitoba. Founded in 1877, it is the first university of western Canada. Both by total student enrolment and campus area, the U of M is the largest university in the province of Manitoba and the 17th-largest in all of Canada.

  • Stelio Constantinides

Worst school in the country, they are the definition of mediocre and give their students no reason to be proud they are attending U of M. If you are currently a High School student in Manitoba please take a moment to look at out of province options, it'll be the best decision you make.

  • Daniel Roscoe

Was on campus to check out the School of Arts student gallery. Also checked out the book store and the archives. No longer require POV but masks were required. I gather that is being changed soon. It was a bit deserted, not many bodies about but every thing seemed to be operating

  • M B

Where do I start. 1) Staff over paid 2) parking is overpriced and not enough spots. 3) Faculty’s are underfunded. However the University is making good money. 4) Tuition fees get more and more expensive every year, yet nothing ever changes. Don’t recommend this University.

  • Hanna Peters

If I could give it zero stars I would. My experience was more than unpleasant. Some profs were ok but it seemed like the university was constantly against u. They have handled remote learning horribly and had the audacity to raise tuition. Overall not a good university.

  • Olivia Leader Art

Great place for all your book needs. Also has cool gadgets and unique gift ideas. I did not love their arrow pathing. Many aisles went the same direction so you were not able to go up and down. Still nice to have obvious safety protocols in place.

  • Brooke Skye

If you're interested in Social Work, do yourself a favor and stay away from this school and its faculty. Some of the professors are unprofessional and on major power trips. The appeal process is a joke. If it is possible do not attend this place.

  • Miggles

The facilities themselves are pretty hit or miss outside of the well-funded ones (EITC, ALC, etc). Public transit is great if you like the idea of freezing in the cold since bus shelter is scarce. The food tends to be overpriced and anemic.

  • AMANULLAH SM

It is the largest university both by total student enrollment and campus area in the province of Manitoba, and the 17th-largest in all of Canada. The campus boasts dozens of faculties including the first medical school in Western Canada,

  • Aurora D'Amato

1 or maybe even 0 stars... My experience was really bad: racist teachers who blackmailed and offended my person, really bad system and organization. I thought it was of the best university but actually is just one of the worst

  • Traci Hansen

Beautiful campus however, the U of M is not very user friendly. If you need support, your call will be transferred many times and you are unlikely to get someone who is willing to actually help you solve your inquiries.

  • John Doe

Great time walking around as a visitor. Super cold from the blizzard. They should've built some connections underground above ground like many other universities I've been to. Besides that it was gorgeous. Go Bisons!

  • Marcello Nesca

love the U of M! I went here for my first undergraduate degree in Asper School of Business and now I am back pursuing a second degree in the Department of Psychology Faculty of Arts. it's an amazing University

  • mustapha aliyu

am recent applying for my Master's program there, hopefully i look forward to experience all the nature can present in the University. please feel free to comment if you have any advice. thank you.

  • Danielle Jackson

This review is for the parking situation only. Parking passes should be provided in priority to students that live outside of Winnipeg. We do not have the opportunity to access public transit.

  • Kehinde Sunday

Hi there. I'm happy seeing you guys here, this is another great University. I've applied but was restricted by application fee. Can anyone help pls? Pls any Supervisor in here...

  • Arpan Singh

Aside from the ancient looking buildings and high prices on pretty much everything, it's a great place to be. Campus has everything you need to learn, stay healthy, and have fun.

  • Winston Grey

A great experience. The instructors and staff are fantastic. I truly recommend this University for it's Social Work Program. You will be happy that you made U of M your choice.

  • oreocreampuff

Rude cashiers office staff. You're already stressed paying for your tuition and the last thing you want is for the cashiers to speak to you and explain things so rudely

  • Tutorial Mentor

It's my first time experience in a university/college. But still all the support that were given to students during covid was something unexpected. Keep it up UofM!

  • Matty Gulaga

If you seek to learn anything real and useful to your every day career life, avoid u of m. Red river polytechnic is a the best post secondary school Manitoba has

  • Matthew Sawatzky

The tunnels are very helpful especially on a cold winter day to get between classes and the buses frequent the area regularly so you're not waiting very long.

  • Ryan Orne-Zaluski

Lots of facilities to use and places to eat at Studying spots are always plentiful and there is always a Starbucks and Tim's just about around every corner

  • Kuntala Shabnam

5ftfff dxrdrdtg nuhfdsrtyn 6yty yoga 5u6v you very close friend who will it be Sara Close friend to university of manitoba vaccine in the swimming pools

  • Alec McMillan

Due to construction and road closures around campus lots of extra walking and driving around. Bookstore had books we were looking for so that was good!

  • Brian R

Terribly ran. Extremely disorganized. They don't care about any student's in the slightest and will fight you on issues every step of the way.

  • Laura Cuthbert

Most professors are fantastic and the few that are not great at teaching are still kind and compassionate individuals that want you to succeed

  • Rusty Stove

Various required courses such as sociology, maths, physics, and computers. Community college is for learning how to solve real life problems.

  • Atuoha Anthony

One of the best institution of learning in Canada. It's a place to consider when obtaining a new degree or stepping upper comes into you mind

  • Neegan Commoner

My wife and I are trying to find a university for our son and U OF M Is not it. No one wants to wear masks and the science doesn't add up.

  • Banji Orola

Marvellous first impression. I attended "Welcome to the Herd" with my son who is about starting his university program at uManitoba.

  • Hesham Aly

  • Chysom Scott

Clean well maintained area, I was just at the gym for sports thing. It all went smooth. Staff was polite and courteous.

  • Kanas Hopitz

Could give 0, it honestly is pretty bad if you want good education and graduating from the school is hard to find a job

  • Scrotus Potus

they hate people for being white, if you got a problem with white people you probably don't belong here to begin with.

  • Jerusalem Nsanze

Great university. Lots of interesting programs offered as well as scholarships. Amazing professors and nice staff.

  • Connor Taweel

Worst parking in all of winnipeg just out for money, was 3 min late to get back to my car an they made me pay 35$

  • It's Linda

Studying at U of M was the most precious thing in my life. I truly love the environment and the people I met.

  • A D

The course selection in certain programs is absolutely pitiful, but I’ve never had a prof I didn’t like.

  • Jonathan

Over priced, but is a place that makes you feel safe. It's more like a small city than a university.
