"It has being a stressful journey dealing with my Father at this Hospital, he was admitted on Oct 27th, Friday evening, with so much pain on his legs, not able to walk the Doctor gave orders to remove the water from his knees after 4 days in bed , a lot of Team visits, nothing accomplished they asked my father if it was ok to do the procedure he wasn't sure because he is an 82 years old man , they decided not to do it, the nurse that took care of him today , Oct 31st, 2023, Andrea Villalobo with an attitude, she didn't even want to clean him, when she told me he was already discharged, I said can you send someone to clean him before we arrange the transportation, that lady came screaming saying he was supposed to be clean from the previous shift, they couldn't hold him until the next day to make sure I was ready to have him at home because he doesn't walk"
"The receptionist Giannina Pozzo at Dermatologist Dr"
I had a very horrifying experience at the UM dermatology hospital. I went to see a dermatologist which removed a mole from my leg and sent it out for a biopsy. Mind you, the dermatologist, the UM hospital and the lab provider are part my in network and therefore I should have paid only $11 for the deductible. Three weeks later, I received a bill for $522 for the biopsy. I have been battling with the UM billing department and my insurance. It turned out that the doctor s office (whomever he/she responsible for sending the biopsy to the lab) did not even bother to check if the lab was in my in network and they sent it out to their default lab without even asking me if it was ok. And most importantly, they did not even try to obtain a pre authorization to see if the lab they intended to use was in my in network. Now the insurance is trying to help me but because the biopsy was done in an out of network lab there s no much they can do. The UM billing department doesn’t want to hear any reasons and they are convinced to be in the right. I even had it escalated to the supervisor. When she eventually called me back had an extremely arrogant and defensive attitude. She did not let me talk and she did not want to hear my case. She said she will have a supervisor call me which in return I asked:”are not you the supervisor?” And she answered she was, but she will have another supervisor call me to re enforce what she told me…essentially their mistake (which they are not admitting nor accepting) and they force me to pay the bill. Absolutely horrifying experience. I have no issues with the doctor I have see, but being backed up by such an awful billing department made the all experience a nightmare. I have spent the past 3 weeks every day at the phone trying to solve the issue. Stay away from the UM hospital or expect to pay exorbitant bills when you might be actually covered by the insurance. Update 03/08/2022 On 02/16/2022 I went back to the doctor s office to try to sort out the issue. First the lead nurse told me the UM forces them to use that specific lab which is out of network (nobody ever ask me about it). Then the doctor came in and told me that they were able to find an in network lab for future procedures (which made think: “why did not do that before?” “Was someone too lazy to check with the insurance and just chose the default lab?”). Then the doctor told me that he was going to write an email to the director of the dermatology department and see if she could do something about it. Well it has been over 3 weeks now and nobody ever contacted me. I call the generic number (since it is impossible to find a direct way to talk to someone) and see if I could talk to the head nurse. I left messages and nobody ever called back. Meanwhile I have been harassed by the billing department to pay the $522.
The worst ever experience and high level of incompetency among nursing staff and doctors. Despite the horrible experience the neurosurgery staff is outstanding and big kudos to Doctor Shaa and the rest of his team. We came to UHealth Miami because we believe it is one of the greatest hospitals in the area. After the VP shunt was revised by the neurosurgery team, which was done outstandingly, the real problems began. The nursing staff is mainly inexperienced. The other issue is not enough nurses and nurse assistants over the weekend. As a result of incompetence and lack of attentiveness, my mother had an aspiration event that could be completely prevented, which resulted in us ending up in ICU on the day we had to be discharged. My mother thankfully survived but had additional complications. In addition, the nursing staff was obligated to turn the patient every two hours which has not been done and as a result, my mother has developed bedsores and wounds. The physical therapy and occupational therapy are the joke, while we were at the hospital for almost two weeks we only had physical therapy once and no occupational therapy. The speech therapy was very minimal, two times 3-5 minutes. After ICU we were transferred to the PH South floor where I requested three times to talk to a doctor and review the medication that was prescribed to my mother to understand their reasoning. Despite my requests, I never had an opportunity to talk to a doctor about medications. As I found out later the same medication as we had in ICU was prescribed to my mother even though she hasn't needed them. Almost forgot to mention that I was escorted by security on the night my mom was admitted to the ICU even though my mother was life to dea ath condition. Later at 2:30 am, they called me that my mother's condition worsen and that I can come back to the ICU. Can you believe it? Overall they helped my mother initially but we almost didn't survive the recovery time at the hospitals and had numerous complications due to incompetency across all levels (nursing and doctors). If you go there do not rely 100% on the stuff! Advocate for your loved ones and question everything from treatment to medication, and hopefully, you will have a better experience.
Except for Bascom Palmer, this entire system is a mess. For years I have tried to get a primary care physician at UM, because the facility has a decent (thought not great) reputation. I made appts months in advance only to repeatedly have them canceled weeks before the appt. (Dr. Katelin Snow was the worst) There was no acknowledgement that they should try to get me in sooner so again I had to wait months between appt that were eventually cancelled. I finally went to the downtown campus because I was fed up. When I got there the doctor that I was supposed to have an appt with had "a family emergency" which I found out about after I checked in. The doctor they gave me was a resident DO (fresh out of school within little patient experience) not an MD. I felt like a guinea pig. They changed increased my cholesterol medication -- without looking at a blood panel - to a dosage that my insurance will not cover. Now, I can't get in touch with the doctor to make a change that would be consistent with my insurance. This wasn't the only bad experience I had with UM. Previously I had had a gynecologist, Dr. Karen Simmons, that I liked. Unfortunately she retired during Covid. She notified me of her retirement but this medical system has no system to move you to another doctor. Again, I was left out in the cold and when I called for an appointment I was given a random nurse practitioner because, you know, its a hospital and patients are actually allowed to talk to real doctors. This is absolutely the worst medical establishment I have every dealt with. The technology is abysmal. There is no communication within the system between medical professionals. And, there is absolutely no communication between the medical staff and patients. If you have a question, or a problem medical or created by medical personnel, it is your problem. I plan on going to another health system and would recommend that anyone looking for quality healthcare to go elsewhere.
It has being a stressful journey dealing with my Father at this Hospital, he was admitted on Oct 27th, Friday evening, with so much pain on his legs, not able to walk the Doctor gave orders to remove the water from his knees after 4 days in bed , a lot of Team visits, nothing accomplished they asked my father if it was ok to do the procedure he wasn't sure because he is an 82 years old man , they decided not to do it, the nurse that took care of him today , Oct 31st, 2023, Andrea Villalobo with an attitude, she didn't even want to clean him, when she told me he was already discharged, I said can you send someone to clean him before we arrange the transportation, that lady came screaming saying he was supposed to be clean from the previous shift, they couldn't hold him until the next day to make sure I was ready to have him at home because he doesn't walk. The Supervisor for Social worker said he had to go today no matter at what time. My question to her was very easy by any chance are you charging the insurance for Therapy on him, because nobody at no point gave him therapy all you guys did to him was throwing him on the bed without no resolution, not even try to help him go to sit on the chair and now your answer is that you guys don't give therapy at the hospital but you charge for Therapy at the Hospital. Sorry but this has being a sour experience, $$$$$ He was on room 1202 from Oct 27th thru Oct 31st, 2023
The receptionist Giannina Pozzo at Dermatologist Dr. Leonard M Miller's office was far the most hospitable young lady I've ever come across. The service over the phone to the physical visit upon arrival was hands down the most warmest and most welcomed visit I've ever experience thus far going to a doctors office. Not all the staff are friendly are will they accommodate you, but Giannina Pozzo AKA GG was far the most best employee there. I love giving reviews based on my visits because ppl tend to look down on you especially when we are of color. I analyze and take note on every aspect there is, whenever my visit is at a restaurant a hotel, place of business etc. My visit to Uhealth Dr. Leonard M Miller's office, was the beginning of my narrative and will be following up with the results of my skin based on the solvent that was prescribed. But for now, I leave my review as is until further observation in the future tense. Thanks again for the great hospitality and returning my wallet that was lost in the hallway GG. Thanks again for not just giving me the info to where the office was relocated In the building, but actually escorting me there. Small details like this makes a big difference people's life.
My son is deaf with Cochlear implants and was taking speech therapy once per week at Uhealth. Very long story short...we were charged $975 per hourly session! Thats right, One hour sessions for $975. Our copayment was $364. We now owe $3000. We always paid $60 at the front desk and assumed that this was the complete copayment needed. So why didnt we know what the rates were you might ask?? We pay almost $500 in insurance per month for our sons insurance to ensure he gets all the access he might need. Uhealth staff and speech pathologists etc supposedly are unaware of the rates. We had asked repeatedly and assumed that the $60 payment at the front desk was the copayment needed. After discovering a $3000 bill months later, turns out the only way to know what the rate would be would be by “Indiana Jones” style investigation into finding a phone number of a service basement called “estimate number” i would need to call for an “Estimate”. They apparently can not guarantee the rate. Talk about day light robbery! So now my choices are pay $3000 over 24 months or try charity....this is why the health system is broken!!!
I usually avoid writing bad reviews but dealing with this company is a pain. I was trying to make an appointment and inquired about pricing since the deductible on my insurance is very high. The scheduling department told me this is something my insurance has to tell me (which is not true). I called their pricing department. I was greeted by a voicemail that prompted me to leave my name and number and I was promised a callback withing 2 days. A week later still no call back. I called again and finally got a hold of somebody but apparently it is very difficult to give me a price for a simple doctor's visit (no surgery, no nothing. Just a visit). She said she will have to make some calculations and then get back to me within 10-15 min. That was half an hour ago. She also said in addition to the provider fee I will have to pay a fee for the facility. I decided to look for a physician that is not associated with UMHealth. This is very unprofessional and simply annoying!
My grandfather passed away over a month now, and his doctor took forever to sign the death certificate to cremate him. After a month waiting for the doctor’s signature, turns out we still can’t do anything because he failed to state the cause of death. This is taking so long and it is a total disregard of our pain, and shows how empathy is nonexistent in this place. It is unacceptable that my grandpa’s body has been in the crematory for more than a month just because a doctor doesn’t know how to properly complete the paperwork of a deceased patient. I wish I could give this institution 0 stars! We will move forward to file a formal complaint because they haven’t solved this issue yet.
my daughter went to the emergency room yesterday on Sunday the 19th in the morning, with a very strong pain, and very scared Pain that turned out to be a kidney colic, one of the worst pain ever. The treatment of the nurses was callous and unprofessional. My daughter used to tell them: it hurts a lot, I'm going to die, to which the nurses replied - you're talking a lot to be dying. I feel like I'm going to pass out, to what they were saying - it's the best thing that can happen to you. I suggest you check who was the staff on duty that day, this behavior is inhumane and unacceptable in people who must attend to patients who feel sore and scared, and come for help.
DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! the staff is unprofessional. They take advantage of the covid protecal and perform recklessly because they won't let you in to see your loved ones. They placed my mother on a breathing machine and didn't even tell me!! My mother was in good health. All she needed was antibiotics for her lungs due to covid but they waited until here breath got to 70% just to place her on a breathing machine. They did something to my mother and I know it!!! There's a place in hell for them for sure!!! GO AT YOUR OWN RISK! And if there being taken care of by murianne coriolan take them out of there quick and go to another hospital
I have been trying to land an appointment to see gastroenterologist and my appointment has been constantly pushed back without any explanation. I finally land an appointment and the day of the appointment they call me to "confirm" the appointment all to tell me my appointment has been cancelled and can't not provide any other feedback besides "I don't have any information". I personally did not cancel the appointment however someone on their side did and no one wants to take accountability. Now they are trying to reschedule me all the way in AUGUST. Unorganized to say the least.
For a college system that preaches itself as prestigeous and expensive, you would think it would reflect on their health system. The majority of UHealth facilities are straight from the 1960s-1980s, many facilities are in dilapidated condition, nothing special about the service, and their parking fees are a joke. Baptist Health system does every single thing better. Jackson Health is propping up UHealth system.
SÁBANAS SUCIAS, FALTA DE TOALLAS ETC DE SER UNO DE LOS MEJORES HOSPITALES A PASADO A SER UNO DE LOS PEORES EN TODOS LOS SENTidos
Absolutely no problem with the doctor in the clinic. University of Miami Health billing is absolutely the worst. I have been trying to resolve a co-pay bill of $35 which I paid in the clinic before the doc would see me. I have called and sent my CC statement of payment numerous times. They continue to send me bills and just turned me into collections. BEWARE billing department is incompetent.
A well run health system a lot of carving staff who know there stuff. Very help full for 5 different family members of mine they did a great job thank you all. The Doctors and Nurses and all the staff here are very caring and helpful they realy will do there best to help. This a very good and clean place they are very good youncan trust all who work here they will help you.
Worst days of my life spent here. The treatment of my mom at this hospital was a nightmare. No communication between doctors, repeated unnecessary and painful tests. My mom begged to be discharged rather than spend one more minute at this awful place (but that took over 6 hours from request). Medical staff was egregious and hospital felt dirty.
Why bother making an appointment if you are going to have to wait hours anyways before being attended. You may as well show up late, since punctuality, one of the life’s most basic skills, is missing. I see a bright future for them in physics though, after they have taken the relativity of time to a whole new level.
doing not go to Doctor Laura Duggan he is very bad Doctor my grandma he told her to take out right side Thyroid and is was Cancer and he was already to doing sugary and other Doctor said there is nothing worry with her we had vey bad experience the Hospital was is not good place to going the ENT doctor is the worst
They are number one in FL for treatment of all eyes and ears medical issues, but their billing staff will give you a heart attack with horrendous insurance coding errors that will cause you to pay extra copayments. Discussing the mistakes with their billing department is pointless cause they are just plain dumb !!
WORST experience with any health care provider - EVER. They are disorganized, it's almost impossible to find the right person to call, they are not transparent about their pricing and costs. They billed almost $1000 for two virtual calls that lasted 15 minutes each. TERRIBLE SERVICE - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
Absolutely desperate customer service, no one is able to answer simple question about doctors responsible for medical forms in a green card application process. I spent over an hour on the phone, spoke with approximately 10 people from all the different departments and still have not got the answer.
LOS HOSPITALES COMO CLÍNICA Y ÉL INTITUTO DE LOS OJOS LA VISIÓN SON EXCELENTES MÁS UNA ATENCIÓN DE CALIDAD HUMILDAD. TAMBIÉN RECORDAR Y RECORDEMOS QUE UN HOSPITAL DE LOS OJOS Y LA VISIÓN. TENEMOS QUE IR CON PACIENCIA Y TENER PACIENCIA. PUES ÉL TRABAJO DE ESPECIALISTAS. MÉDICOS MÉDICO
Useless. Stay away. Sick and need to make an appointment? Sure thing they can pencil you in for a telehealth visit in two weeks. Oh you want to see someone in person? Try a few months from now. I get this run around every stinking time in every stinking department and I’m just done.
I am a physician who went to UM Sylvester for help. The doctors and medical staff are great. The billing dept and customer service is singularly the worst I have ever had to deal with. They just flat out lie to you about doing things. Horrible place. Wish I had gone somewhere else.
after 3 weeks of back and forth of requesting medical records and billing records - they told me they dont give billing records out to patients. this is a hipaa violation and i will be reporting them to the fla health dept. Update: I did that as well - no response as of yet.
I'm frustrated with UM that they keep sending me another bill for the same service without telling me why they need to charge me for the additional service. I would not trust UM who charges for services that were previously unknown or clarified without notification.
Be ready to get a fat bill, even if you have a $0 deductible and the insurance already paid thousands for that visit, there will ALWAYS be a few thousands left that they will bill you. I am talking thousands of dollars for a 2 hour visit!!!
BEWARE! You will be CHARGED DOUBLE..... A Charge for Dr and A Charge for Facilities fees on top. Doesn't matter if you have ins. I have BCBS Premera PPO and was still charged extra fees. This is Robbery! Better off going somewhere else!!
The most advanced medical treatment center in Miami Dade County with cutting edge technology in various fields such as oncology, urology, podiatry, psychology, neurology, etc. This is where the doctors of tomorrow are being trained today.
All I can say is thank you for the great service. I went to the ER due to some unknown pain. I was attended fast and nurse, Cynthia was great. I have nothing but great things to say about the service and staff. Keep up the great work!
I requested a quote and was given a quote below $200. I was charged $1,200 instead. I set up auto pay twice which did not work properly. I spent hours on the phone. This is not a healthcare system I would recommend.
Incredible services. I’m a former patient of Cleveland clinic I did not want to leave but they are thorough and persistent in diagnostics and treatment. Supieror treatment compared to Mercy who almost let me die!
Very easy to access from the highway. The entire staff were are very respectful. The Dr. I had an appointment with is very professional and has a fantastic bedside manner. The parking garage validated my parking.
Emergency room was full but they were able to get us in fast. Be prepared to wait if you need to be admitted to the hospital (took 7 hours). Teaching University hospital, great doctors, nurses and staff.
Only let children and grandchildren in to see their injured family members for 1 specific hour per day. This place is inhumane. Shame on whoever put this rule in place.
Always make me wait over an hour passed my appointment time! Very unprofessional and inconsiderate with patients’ personal time. They need to work on TIME MANAGEMENT!!!
Terrible billing department! They keep billing me for an error they made when submitting to my insurance. It has been almost a year and it still has not been resolved.
We where waiting for a apointment for like 7 hours. Then she said she was not their and we live all the way in fort myers. Waste of time and, money.
Not everyone working here knows what's going on. I got totally different directions from 3 different people, and got lost.
Great doctors, culture of polite assistance. Almost ideal. Hope the pandemic dose not ruin it. Good health to all.
Go here if you want to get billed exorbitant prices for non surgical visits. 2k in debt for a regular er visit
Avoid U Miami Health if you possibly can. They are all about the money, and will screw you any way they can.
DO NOT GO HERE THEY FRAUDULENTLY SEND BILLS OUT EVEN WHEN YOU PAY THEM AND YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY PAYS THEM
TERRIBLE
Very inexperienced stuff, including nurses and doctors. Lack of attention and attentiveness.
As always clean, friendly staff and they attend byou at the appointment hour exactly
