I'm currently doing my second year at Westminster. The facilities are great, even at my campus (regent street, which is the smallest and oldest). For my subject in particularly (History), most of the resident lecturers are all experienced and well established in the field of study, and the University also bring in accomplished external lecturers to give optional lectures on a variety of topics. Academically the University is good. Where the University lacks however is on the social aspect of Uni life. Because this is a London Uni where many students commute, you don't get to know people in the same way as you would living in student accommodation. The uni doesn't seem to recognise this problem. The student union seems much more like just another department of the University rather than a student body. Their regular announcements seem so artificial and non relevant to anything going on with the students themselves. Many of the Societies themselves are inactive all year, leaving students with few options to meet people other than people in their lectures. On my course, even socialising with people in my lectures was a stretch as the majority of students just come to lectures and then leave. This is why the inactivity of the societies is so frustrating, as they would ease this problem by allowing you to meet and speak with like minded people. However, the societies possess an even greater disadvantage at Westminster. Obviously it's great that in this day and age we are interconnected enough to form communities for all kinds of religions, races, and sexual orientations as well as political views. But for students like myself who don't really concern themselves with Religion or politics, there is an almost complete absence of societies and events at Westminster that everyone is able to attend no matter their race, religion or orientation. For example, every few weeks there is a faith-based Gaming night. Obviously people are well within their rights to organise events for members of their own religion, but why are there no gaming nights where anyone can attend? Why are movie nights politically themed when every political group already has its own society at uni? This hyperfocus of the Student Union on attaching race, religion, politics or gender to every society and event is actually having the opposite effect of making the uni less inclusive, whilst exacerbating the issue of less social contact at Westminster, where it's easy for students to fall into the habit of just attending lectures and then going home. Update: Recently finished my final year and graduated. Most of my previous comments still stand: many societies still inactive, and student union remains out of touch with students. Due to the pandemic we worked online, and then under heavy restrictions on campus, for almost 2 years, being deprived of many key resources and opportunities at the university. Student Union support during this time was abysmal. They even succeeded in shutting down a social media campaign calling for some sort of compensation for these pandemic years. Whatever your opinion on tuition fee reductions/refunds, a Student Union should not be shutting down Student campaigns. The SU's main campaign during the pandemic was reducing the price of coffee...when we weren't even allowed on Campus...

Don’t even let this university be a backup plan, you’re better off not going to a university if this is your only choice! They just chase the fees you’re paying. They deceive you and provide inadequate support. They don’t reply to emails or even have phones to contact them including graduate school , finance team , student support, vice chancellor …etc. They’re still working from homes and you will be at the mercy of them replying! Some even tell you to stop contacting them and that they will no longer interact with you because you demanded an explanation and for them to take responsibility for misleading and making a mistake, even the Vice chancellor who doesn’t reply to emails; agrees that they should not have done what they did yet he does nothing about it, it is such a toxic university that does not care about students’ mental health but further contribute to ruining their education! They mislead you until you can’t complaint and it is too late ! They take money without providing the service of education that was promised ! So don’t waste your money or time and literally no degree is better than one from this toxic place that does not care about their students!

It’s absolutely disgusting to make students graduate with predicted grades, we are essentially paying to have our futures played with and to graduate and receive our final degree classifications without the majority of our assignments being marked, I’ve never heard of such a occurrence where the student literally pays to receive the wrong grades. Third year at this uni was an awful experience which contributed to my anxiety and depression, absolutely appalled and shocked that this is even legal for a university to let students graduate with missing assignments, as this will only be recalculated ‘if’ they are marked, meaning there is a possibility they will never be marked ever ??? Which means this will cause permanent effects to our final degrees. Please don’t go to this university- they have caused me depression and anxiety, they should be sued for their awful treatment. Also, many of the lecturers are snobby, condescending, unhelpful and deliberately mark you harshly- they will literally give you a grade three or four marks away from a 70 consistently- they seem to enjoy to deliberately under mark students for petty reasons.

I would like to bring to notice that upcoming Students should not take admission in this University as this university is not at all worth your money , your time. This is one of the worst universities who takes less fees as compared to other universities but tortures their students mentally by not providing any support or help when students are struggling with their issues the lecturers choose not to reply back and the teaching style and marking style of these so called lecturers are not at all aligned. Lecturers don't know how to teach but they know how to fail poor vulnerable students. They don't follow any diversity practices in their campuses at all. They just want to get rid of international students specially asian students .

I had an interview with a teacher who was really nice and helped me through my application process. However, my first impression of Westminster Uni was spoiled by the treatment that I received from the staff at the entrance: I asked for a direction and the lady at the front desk had such a strong accent that it was difficult for me to understand, so when I kindly asked her to repeat she yelled at me in a very rude manner. On the other hand, the other lady in the front desk forced me to show her my phone pictures because I was taking pictures of the university building and she made me delete them. This review refers to the staff sitting at the front desk on September 26th 2017 at 11:00

I didn't like the irresponsibility of the registry, advise and visa team towards the students career. I was facing the critical illness and followed all the guidelines and advise suggested by the team and at the end of my studies they ruined by situation. I am in the middle of serious medical issues and running behind solicitors to get my graduate visa. Though I am very good in studies and awarded 2:1 without any fail, I am not getting graduate visa smoothly because of visa compliance team mistakes and delay. When I spoke to Barristor about this I came to know this is unfaithful happening with me, But I am not in a position to take action due to time constraints.

This university is actually so wack, they are so into money it’s disgusting, they definitely don’t care about their students, as an international student I have come to realise that they don’t care at all, all they’ve done so far is take a lot of money and not pay enough attention to if a student is having an issues. In my honest opinion I think they purposely fail international students and make them repay the money to do the course again, truly disappointing. I wish they’ll pay more mind to if a person needs help rather than focusing on their financial needs. I would not recommend anyone to actually apply to this university at all.

  • Reza Mohammadi

I suggest international students not to register in this university especially for the January entrance. Because, unfortunately, the timetable for the exams and its results set for the September entry and the January entries will be greatly affected by this situation and they will lose the possibility of using the 2-year extension of the residence visa after graduation. I must also remind you that the staff and professors of the academy and the visa department of the university will not cooperate in any way. And you will have to return home without getting a degree and follow your work from there.

  • Jaskaran singh

One of my friend went last year in London to this University. One of the worst academic decisions he made in his life was choosing this University for pursuing his master's degree. This University is all about gaining money from the poor international students and play with their lives by ruining their career. All lecturers are just focussing on failing international students after taking hefty fees. Students in the end are left empty handed without money, without visa and without degree. Nothing is diverse in this university. Don't fall out for this university Ever!!

Although it is not one of the highest universities in UK league tables, its facilities and lecturers are of the best standard. They always want to help. Students help each other as if as one family. it is just up to you if you choose to study hard or not. I dearly miss Westminster. Got there through clearing and was dreading it, but it was the best three years of my uni life thus far. I now attend one of the most prestigious universities in the UK for my masters and I am still singing 'give me Westminster anyday'.

  • Daniel Collyer

The university is a very positive place to be the students are fun and the lecturers are so helpful. I strongly recommend you come here to study I want todo another MSc when I have finished this one I wished I had know I would get all the help I have. If I had known that I could have started a year earlier. I was amazed they can help with all kinds of disabilities. I have to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without DSA and the effort of the professors I wouldnt have made it.

  • Stavros

I just came off a call with the admissions office, where I was trying to explain a complex challenge with an offer. While I was talking, I was rudely interrupted and told to, "get to the point". My advice to whoever that was is, if you are in a bad mood and you can't be professional enough at work to prevent yourself from taking out your bad mood on prospective students, then you shouldn't be working in a position where you need to communicate with people.

  • Maryam Sideifzada

A friend of my used to study there and her experience was awful. Especially after the pandemic the registry had a poor work quality, they never replied to any of her emails or answered the phone. No student support during the difficult times. I will not recommend this university for international student as they don’t want to do a bare minimum to support people who pays them a huge amount of money per year. Avoid this place at any cost!!

  • Donovan Baxter

This University is so bad that the Lecturers and Module Teachers only care about the money they don't give a dam about the students. E.g. if a student fails a module the Lecturer doesn't give the student a second chance they find a way to exclude them from the course they are studying. I highly unrecommend for new students coming to this University to not come and to choose another University.

  • Aziza B

Terrible experience in this establishment. Absolute lack of communication between students and faculty, they provide no psychological help for students as well as any guidance on how to navigate the studies at Westminster. When the serious issues arise - you are on your own. They have the highest standards and expectations from their students, but fail to provide the same on their end.

  • C. Martín Ramos

Tell your staff at the entrance that they could try to start the day with a smile instead of being so rude. Also, tell them that there are many different Cambridge exams and CAE (Certificate of Advance English) is one of them. This review refers to the unpolite blonde woman at the entrance on the 20/07/17 at 8am. A little bit too early to blame others for not liking your job, isn't it?

  • Kennii Oberoi

This university/college will only take ur money... Will never help u get a job ..... When call them for help or counciling.... The faculty will simply ignore u .... They will claim that they have a placement dept and wud lie to their teeth when one is about to take admission .... But once u pass out they will ignore u. Plz look for different universities.... Avoid this university

  • Roland Demeter

I heard about this university they don't follow any diverse practices as they say specially with the international students. Charge poor students with the hefty fees and fail them intentionally in order to curb down visa issuance which is really unfair to the innocent students who are putting their time and money in a university like this. Don't count on this uni ever!!

  • shirdilal mutyala

Not a worth university to join. They don't even care about your career they need money just simple. Please please please don't ever try to enroll in this university its a money based university. They just need your money. It's my personal experience. One of the worst and bad management university. Please please please please please please please please don't join.....

  • Sarune Jonaviciute

I'm a first year student at the Marylebone campus and my experience has been amazing. What mostly outsdands from the quality of the university, is definitely the quality of teaching and how helpful is everyone and the numerous resources and different departments available to our use! I'm loving it and I really look forward for the next 4 coming years.

  • Muhammad Ahsan

Is University of Westminster a good university? University of Westminster is ranked 701 in QS World University Rankings by Top Universities and has an overall score of 4.2 stars, according to student reviews on Study portals, the best place to find out how students rate their study and living experience at universities from all over the world.

  • Federico Lippi

Customer service is poor, nobody in the registry answers the phone or emails when a student is asking for help/ they just take a very long time to get back. The enrolment system is obsolete and could be improved. This creates a lot of frustration when you need to communicate and solve a simple issue in a relatively reasonable timeframe.

  • Ali Raza

There was consensus amongst me and all the non white students Indian, Pakistani and black that a Lecturer/Tutor teaching Business operations management was racist, and we were all given poor marks despite quality of work being of high standard. Was glad to have got out of there. The guy was a stain on the unis reputation.

  • Julia Gabajova

Never choose to do IELTS exam in this uni !!! It is just business for them from foreigns ! Very unprofessional workers with negative atmosphere. Most of the places gave you breaks between the sections at least 15min. In this place you are not allowed to even go to the toilet and then wait for the speaking part 5 hours !!!

  • Ken Liu

Not reviewing the university but the fitness centre, which is excellent. They have one of the few BodPods in the UK, an extremely accurate body fat measuring device and they also perform vo2max and other fitness marker tests. Well worth doing if you like stats on your fitness or need a kick to get your training going.

  • Jeffrey Yang

pretty sweet school, gotta be honest i don't attend but i visited my friends who do attend and they had an amazing time there. i did stay in teh dorms and even though its not the most convenient place to get in if you're a guest, the sucurity is top notch and the dorms though small have everything that you need.

  • krystal

started out 180 years ago as the first polytechnic in London and one of the first in the UK, established to educate the working people of London. Today we continue to build on this reputation, helping students from a variety of backgrounds to realise their full potential.

  • Mike Behar IG architectural_tour_london

The university misled my friend with his visa terms and he flew half way round the world just to be turned around hours later. They created a disorganised and stupid mess. This to me seems to be an arrogant university that doesn't really care.

  • malkeet singh

I came to know about this university and I am grateful that i didn't chose this university as this university is charging hefty fees from the international students and is not giving any support thereafter. They intentionally fail students

Great university with lots of delicious food options and right at the central. Prime location easy to navigate around central london as well as Oxford Circus. Lots of coffee bars, gym and silent study areas for students.
