Updated Jul 2023: taking downgrade star as they are not doing great anymore. Jul 2022: 5 stars for food, services and atmosphere. Amazing! will come back for the super tasty lamp steak and try other dishes. My friend is fan of Greek food and she highly recommended this restaurant! We got a mixed grill plate with lamp steaks, chicken, minced lamp, sausages, fish and so on. All in wrap with loads of veggies. We all love the lamp steak!! Moist, tasty, soft, easy to eat!! On the plate they also have potato (with sauce, maybe tomato flavour?), with other two yoghurt sauces. $89 - one plate for two. A lot of meats, more than a portion for two girls. I think this one can even be shared with three girls. We also got a salad bowl, they have feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, onion and so on. The cut bread is quite hard to chew (i would say it hard like rock). But other than the bread, we love this salad. $17 for one dish. - We also got Summer Light Tasmanian beers, which i say awesomeeee! Light, fruity! Good service! Staffs introduce us for each of dishes, take care on each table if they finished the dishes, pouring water. If us space if needed. I love the service!! We gotta book the table before a day to got reserved table. On Friday the restaurant was busy but the food waiting time is real fast, we did not have to wait long time after ordered food.

Pretty disappointing experience. We are visiting from Adelaide on a work trip and were told eat here from a local recommendation. The atmosphere is nice, but the food was not the quality our group was expecting; some of our meatballs were raw mince in the middle and they had to be sent back and recooked. The octopus was average at best. We had two young children only 1.5 years old at our table and we ordered the sausages for them from the kids menu. Unfortunately they were spicy and the children were crying uncontrollably as we didn’t realise this. When we asked the staff they said yes they are spicy, most Greek food has some spice. This would be helpful to add onto the menu when parents are ordering. Especially paying $20 for spicy sausages for toddlers! Was not worth the money and we would not go back when we return for our next work trip. Very surprised we had a poor experience given all the positive reviews for this restaurant.

We went as a family group with a booking for 7 for a birthday celebration. 5 of us had been previously but 2 had not. We all absolutely loved everything about our evening. The service was impeccable but the food was the star of the evening. Generous portions and incredibly delicious and varied flavours. We will definitely be return customers. It was a pleasure to be somewhere where the service was also superb. That’s not always the case in Hobart and we all commented on it and how attentive and friendly our waitress was. Excellent in every way.

I had booked for my daughter's birthday. Our visit started off badly. Our table wasn't ready so we were shown to another table. I had to ask for a menu as we didn't get a menu when we were seated. I eventually ordered drinks which took forever to arrive. The table next to ours got service before us even though they arrived after. Drinks and food. If it wasn't for the young waitress that eventually served us, I was prepared to walk out. My previous visits went without any issues. This time, not so. I wish I could remember the young girl's name, she was really friendly and efficient.

One thing I’ve grown tired of, is ordering a food item, only for it to taste exactly how I expect it too. I’ve been craving for a surprise in my palette for the longest time, and I can confidently say that Urban Greek has delivered! We got the $65 pp Banquet, and it was a feast fit for at least 4 people, surely! The amount of food was surprising, the delicately curated tastes, unexpected, but appreciated! The service was above exceptional. The individuals who served us were always super kind, giving us the run down about the meals and food items. I feel like this experience is one I can think back to as one of the greatest eateries I’ve yet to discover! Oh, and the cocktail “Peanut Butter Cup” is 10/10, would highly recommend it.

Don't quite get the high reviews. Food wasn't great, and our server (short curly hair, female, spectacles) was terrible. Didn't even take our order and had her colleague to do it. Our entrees came an hour late. We checked at the 45 min mark she she told us curtly that it is coming soon - not sure if she even checked. At the 55 min mark another lady saw us looking around and checked in on us, came back to tell us that they lost our ticket and was sorry. She was much kinder and talked to the manager to take one entree off our bill. Good service recovery on her part. As we were paying the bill our original server brought a beef dish to our table insisting that it was for us when it was actually for the couple beside who were having the banquet. Lol

A restaurant that would make the Greek gods proud. We got the banquet and expected tiny meals on big plates. No sir, Zeus wouldn't approve of that! Make sure you starve until your Hercules 6 pack shows before entering. We got the banquet with seafood. Top 3: Service was super friendly and attentive. Dips: must have been made by cupid because I was in love. Prawns: Poseidon was a bit tight by sparring one prawn, but the ouzo sauce the chef makes will rock your boat. Grilled lamb: you know when you're full and everything else is good but you might not finish it? When this comes you'll have to sacrifice some breathing room, shift it into your lungs to make space. By far the best lamb I've had in my life. Highly highly recommend. This place has raised the bar for 5 stars

Hobart local here. Great place to eat. Pricey but very worth every cent. If you're looking for a good feed with friends and family this is the place. Located in the centre of Hobart so close to hotels and places to park without too much of a walk. Food is perfect for sharing and very very tasty. I recommend their Signature Banquet. Fantastic service, the staff are so lovely. Thanks especially to Aidan who made the experience really memorable and his knowledge of Greek wine-making was awesome! Definitely will go back.

Hello Readers Wow! What an amazing Greek Experience! Urban Greek is an authentic Greek option in Hobart. It’s atmosphere and vibe is unique and all staff were friendly and spot on recommending us dishes. The quality of the food was extraordinary and portions were very satisfying. If you order too much is not a problem as they can pack for take away. We will definitely be back when we are back in Hobart. Highly recommended. Ensure you call them or book online in advance as it’s quite a popular place.

The food was great with good awareness of food allergies. Great service and attentiveness of staff, even noticing someone dropping something in their lap and bringing a bowl of baking soda water and napkin! The only thing was the rushing from the team to order and eat within the 2 hour window. It is completely understandable for a such a busy venue, but maybe consider an option for longer sittings? Highly recommended specifically for those with dietary requirements. Will definitely visit again and again!

My partner and I came here after a local tour guide recommended it to us. We ordered the $65 per person Hippocrates set menu, which was wonderful value. The food was so delicious and there was not one thing I could fault any of the dishes on. Service was incredible from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, staff, all so friendly and caring. If you're in Hobart, go here and if you chose a banquet option, don't eat for the whole day because you get so much amazing food!

Food was incredible! We always order too much but really can't help ourselves. The cocktail I had was to die for, would have drank several had I not been driving. Staff were wonderful and very accommodating when we had a last minute addition to our party of two (our 15mo crashed our night off but he also very much enjoyed the food and we were glad to share the experience with him). Highly recommend, consistently amazing each time and I hope there is less time between visits for our next night out!

Went there for 21st celebration. All of us had the banquet. Very disappointed . Much better off ordering off the menu. Noisy, crowded, long wait for next course ( we think they may have forgotten us...30 minutes is too long) and when it did arrive the meat, lamb Overcooked and dry. I had heard good things previously-so maybe the restaurant has changed owners. Go there if you want to be seen- but if you want wonderful Greek food in a relaxed atmosphere perhaps book elsewhere.

We had a work celebration dinner for 50 people and it was so well organised. Five star for their authentic dishes and presentation. Best greek I have eaten in Australia with service and prices to match. Took me back to the streets of Athens. Ordered some take away and we accidentally collected the wrong take away. Went back later that evening to see if we could get the dessert we had ordered. The team didn't just give us the dessert (plus extra) but fully refunded us for the mix up. Amazing generosity. The food was so good we went back the next night..

We ordered the banquet menu, great variety of food and in huge serving portion for the two of us. We love the mix dips, the meze plate and the saganaki cheese. The grill octopus was dry and bland, not very impressed. The lamb was a bit dry too. Personally, the galaktoboureko (cannot choose your own dessert) was too sweet and heavy after the feast. But overall everything tasted good. The portion was big so we ended up taking away one plate of food.

This restaurant provides a top of the class fine dining experience. The service is awesome, unhurried and timed to perfection. The staff explained to us each dish in detail before serving. The best test for how your meal went is the feeling you have when you finish eating. We felt light and not heavy afterwards. Every dish was carefully chosen to balance each other out, at the same time provided enough variety. 5 stars!!

Two of us came here with a $250 voucher and left very well fed. We went for the $80 banquet, which had a good selection of classic Greek mezze, meat and seafood. They accommodated one vegetarian and one meat eater very well and the serving sizes were very large. Cocktails were delicious and we really enjoyed our bottle of Greek red. Selection of desserts was delicious too, especially the Galaktoboureko.

I ordered the lamb wrap (can’t remember the exact name, but it’s the first one on the menu). The lamb was succulent, juicy, tender DELICIOUS. The pita was soft and fluffy and not stale like you get from some souva places. The $5 chips was massive. I was expecting a handful of chips and got a got a big fat bag full. 10/10 would recommend and if I’m ever back in Hobart I will pop in again.

What an amazing Greek restaurant! The service was impeccable and ambience was cosy but upmarket. We ordered the Hippocrates banquet menu and the food just kept coming. It was so delicious and generous, they did not hesitate to offer a take away container at the end as it was just so much food! The highlights were the ouzo prawns and the dips. It was a wonderful dining experience and would definitely recommend!

It has been some time since we have had Greek food this good outside of Greece. A short walk from our hotel on Elizabeth Street the Urban Greek looked to a little out of the way and yet it was really busy inside. And for good reason. All the food was excellent. We had the Minatour banquet for two. And we were stuffed. Happily so. Highly recommended.

Fantastic gem in heart of Hobart. Recommended by our hotel manager, we were pleasantly surprised to find such a great Greek restaurant. Superb service, great tasty authentic food and decent value for money with the banquet (we had the smallest one but still so much food). We left feeling very full and wanting to come back when we next visit Hobart.

Wanted to love it after rave reviews. 4 stars for food (especially pita bread and dips) minus 1 star for disappointing dessert in the banquet (choux was not pleasant). Overall giving it 2 stars for how it took 2 hours for a banquet - about an hour between entrees and mains. We were full half way through just from waiting on a Tuesday night.

The restaurant was full and humming. The ambience was great my only concern was the level of noise, chatter and music, that made it a bit more difficult to have an easy conversation. I always love sound baffles in restaurants. Thanks to all the chefs and wait staff for a lovely evening.
