At first this Vasa location was great. Unfortunately, it has declined over the past couple of years. Usually all of the 45s are stacked next to the leg press machine (even if you come in first thing in the morning) so we have to make multiple trips from the leg press just to grab what we need for our workout. The fans are always spinning in the wrong direction limiting the airflow in the summer and making it colder in the winter (except for when the fans are shut off in the winter giving no airflow to the gym). For a direct and cooling breeze, ceiling fans should be turned counterclockwise in the summer to create a downdraft. During the winter, fans should be turned clockwise to create an updraft and circulate warm air. Sometimes they are corrected but are soon redirected in the wrong direction for some reason. Working out in the summer can be extremely uncomfortable because of this. Sometimes the music that is played can be depressing or even nonexistent. In a handful of instances, a long slow ballad has been played... Why would this type of music be on a gym playlist? Or the music won't be on, except for a large boombox at the front. One time there was no music and I asked the staff about it and they said they didn't know how to turn it on... Last but not least, I changed my payment method via the app, but a $20 late fee still applied. It was confirmed by staff that the correct payment information was on my account. I was left with a $20 charge without a reason or an offer to reverse it. Before you ask, yes I have brought my concerns up to staff to try to rectify them. However, I feel like this Vasa location does not care or take their customers' feedback/challenges seriously since I'm just told that it will be passed to the manager and no one follows up with me or changes the issues. I mention this specific location because the other location on Thunderbird has never had any of the mentioned issues.

I have been at this gym a little over 2 years and in that time this gym has gone down hill. First I want to explain how rude an employee was to me as a professional myself I’d never laugh at an upset customer it makes matters worse. The classroom fans have been broken for over a month now and they continue to have classes. I for one have headphones in and still cannot hear my music due to the classroom doors being open and plus the gym is playing music too, so you have 3 different sounds of music playing that is not for me when I workout. I am very serious about my gym time and atmosphere. I’ve never been treated this way at a gym by it’s employees and I attended many gyms this is not my only membership. I am very sad to cancel my gym membership here but it’s not changing either manager or corporate is greedy and doesn’t respect members time in the gym and they want to make money off classes and members regardless if the gym is up to par or not. I also want anyone thinking of going to this gym to know, they do not respect you and will laugh at you with other customers. The employee whom was laughing didn’t have a name tag on and when I asked her for her name she would not give it to me. She finally said her name and I couldn’t catch it. Might be Samaria or something she is not Caucasian. And also another review on yelp a customer stated this same employee was very rude to her this was a day before my review. I am going to corporate and management this is so unprofessional as a business owner myself I’d be ashamed of my business and employees.

Front desk staff smug, rude and disrespectful. Light skinned lil teenage looking male with a perm (clown looking mf) and the dark skinned ring leader Sahara Samaria not sure the spelling went out of their way to make my girlfriend and I feel as if our wants and needs related to the extremely loud music from a zumba class feel disregarded. As if the members of the zumba class needs come before the rest of the gym members. Music so loud we couldn't hear our own music in our headphones. Both of us cancelled our membership and will tell every single person we know not to patronize the establishment. Management need to be aware that your front desk staff do nothing but socialize up at the front, if asked to do anything, they make up an excuse as to why they can't or won't. This isn't the first time I've experienced this as I once asked the light skin permed out skinny fella to address the numerous duffel bags and backpacks that are an obvious safety hazard. He acted like my request was strange and even made excuses for the members who carry bags around on the gym floor and put them down by whatever machine or station they are using, an obvious tripping hazard, word for word "some of our members don't have locks or cannot afford them" and laughed at me. There are so many other, better gyms in Phoenix than Vasa, we were going because it was close to our home but after this, we are done with it.

East Thunderbird Vasa Fitness is an Awesome Gym. There are many wonderful amenities, classes, and is very clean. My experience with Personal Training is the BEST I have ever had with personal training. James Andrade my trainer, from my first appointment was very thorough, kind and encouraging. He made sure to understand any injuries or issues that I had and what my goal was coming into the gym. I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to do the personal training until after my appointment with him. Trainers I have had in the past just put you on a basic program and didn't seem to fully understand my needs. With James I have always felt that he was in tune to my needs and my weaknesses, working to get me stronger. He also has such a positive attitude! I had been going to physical therapy for lower back issues and after working with James, I started to actually get better results. When we have our appointments, we have check-ins on how I am doing covering all areas, sleep, stress, eating. He is very knowledgeable in physical training as well as nutrition. I highly recommend this gym and personal training! Membership Prices are very reasonable. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Thank you VASA and James for a great experience every time!

I’ve been a member for about a year but I’m quitting soon. There are several reasons why: This gym doesn’t have enough squat racks. There should be at least twice as many racks as there are. So if you ever plan on using them, be prepared to wait. The space is laid out inefficiently. I’m an industrial engineer so I notice things like that. The dry sauna is very cold. The sauna is very important to me for the health benefits, but it’s pointless when it’s not hot enough. I know there are regulations regarding how hot they’re supposed to be, but this sauna doesn’t actually measure temperature properly. A sauna temperature is supposed to me measured at head level, but their sensors are near the ceiling. So it’s actually a lot cooler than they think it is because of the difference in temperature between the ceiling and where people are actually sitting. Stuff breaks here all the time and it takes a long time to get fixed. One time one of the urinals was backed up and I swear it took 2-3 weeks for them to get a plumber to fix it. Overall, it’s okay if you want a very cheap gym, but I just think there are too many deal breakers for me.

Diagnosed with debilitating muscle disease but Vasa doesn't care. They won't allow medical hardship to get me out of contract. But if i moved that is ok.Here is the statement. The two ways to cancel while you’re in contract are either due to relocation (if you've moved more than 25 miles from the nearest gym), or if you sell/transfer your training to someone else. We do not have a medical or financial hardship clause for cancellation

great gym with plenty of machines (pec dec, cable machines, leg extension, etc), free weights (dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells), turf area, cardio machines (treadmills, stair steppers, etc), pool, steam and sauna rooms. friendly staff and overall a clean facility. good selection of membership options and prices make it so I feel that most people can find a membership plan that they are happy with and can afford. gym can be pretty busy at times but there are multiple benches and squat racks as well as multiple different versions of some of the machines so even if they are all in use, wait times are generally still low. all of the other vasa members/users i have encountered in the gym so far have been polite and courteous making for an overall very pleasant gym experience. I personally think it would be nice if a little energetic EDM music got mixed into the music rotation for the speakers in the gym just for a little more variety in the music being played but other then that there isn’t really anything I would change.

VASA fitness at Thunderbird and 42nd street has been a very good experience. My trainer LORETTA BARRERA has been an awesome coach to work with. I highly recommend Loretta for your personal training needs. Loretta always has a positive attitude and is very engaged with her trainees. I love her encouragement to go the extra drive and has gradually increased my workouts. The staff is very friendly and willing to always help. Loretta and Hero made me feel very welcome and assisted me with getting my account inline without hesitation. I have lost weight and body fat and have gained strength where I needed most. I’m already thinking of renewing my personal training with Loretta for the 3rd time even though I just renewed my second contract. Bottom line is Loretta Barrera is your personal trainer to go to if you want to take charge of your health and physical fitness. I will never trade Loretta for another trainer / coach

I just joined this gym and I have been going to the Studio Red classes. The class format is great, it's easy to book the class well in advance so that I am guaranteed a spot. Grace is one of my favorite coaches, she's on point and never misses a transition. She also makes corrections and all coaches demo and suggest alternate exercises. I haven't used all the facilities at the gym such as the steam, sauna or showers. I have tried the massage chairs, which are fabulous. I have used the cardio equipment (including the cinema) and I love that I can use the group exercise room when there isn't a class, and I have taken advantage of that. I would suggest more free weights near the functional workout area - I would use that area more if there were more dumbbells directly in that area. I am happy to have made the switch to VASA.

So, I currently a member at 1440 fitness. I noticed Vasa is close to it, so I was curious to tour the gym and I did and it was a GREAT gym. Really like the customer service and I mean the gym has everything you need from basketball, indoor pool, sauna steam room and much more. So I definitely liked the gym and got a membership. Shout out to the nice guy that helped me with the membership Vasa you should know who he is, can’t remember his name. Now I just need to cancel my other membership at the other place. I must say the gym is pretty busy so if you don’t like to be in large groups you might want to look at their slowest times during the day. I know I like to have some space but hey, a gym is a gym right. Overall great gym!

They’re a bottom tier fitness center with even lower standards and service. Planet fitness will offer everything they have (except for a sweat stained sauna and over chlorinated pool) and make it easy to sign up or cancel without arbitrary fees or an ambiguous cancellation policy. Don’t bother putting a dime in their pockets— they under pay their staff and you can see it in how they carry themselves. Someone looking to get fit would be better off buying a 1 ton stack of rocks and moving them from one side of their yard to the other everyday as opposed to going to this place. It’s laughable. Don’t waste your time or money here— like many of these new gyms: they will scam you out of your hard earned cash if you try to leave.

This was my first review.(Great place to work out. Lots of machine options. Lots of free weights. Pretty much anything you need to get into shape Vasa has.)UPDATE. Very busy place now. They must have sold a bunch of memberships. Congrats maybe they'll be able to now have someone actually clean the showers and fill the soap dispensers. I've been the first person in the Am in the shower and found hair everywhere. And not just one shower stall. I think one day I looked in 3 and could tell they hadn't been cleaned. Showers should be cleaned often. The staff is always friendly. They offer lots of cleaning wipe stations for you to clean off the equipment.

I've been a VASA member for a couple of years now. As a 50+ year-old first-time gym member, I thought for sure I would be intimidated, but quickly learned that was not the case. The staff is always very friendly and helpful and the facilities are great. I made the best decision a couple months ago to begin private training with Loretta Barrera and I am so thankful I did. She has helped me set realistic goals and challenges me to improve every week. The structured workouts she has created for me are just what I needed. Loretta is so friendly and positive, and I am so grateful for her guidance and support on my journey to improved health.

We had really bad experience, They offered a trial, we accepted but after a short visit we cancelled as we weren't really satisfied, They never cancelled, I have tried the app, phone call even went there. Their billing section connects to a payment company which only cares about charging you and nothing else It was a scam. Don't let them to fool you. They charged me 77$ although they said it's a free trial and we only walked there for 10Minutes and cancelled. I didn't have time to prove the bank unfortunately I don't have anything to show I cancelled I should have taken some screenshots.

This is my home gym. I've been coming here for 3yrs, the best gym ever and the staff are beyond amazing especially Francisco!!. I absolutely love it. A new class started at the gym called Body Firm early in the morning. Aniya is the instructor. Best morning class, I absolutely love the combination of working out with weights, some dance mix, and a few yoga moves to end the session. It's such an amazing mix to start off your mornings. Aniya is just amazing. Can't wait for next class! I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants a great workout.

Gym is fine but was upgraded to Team Training for double the monthly charge while just trying to check in to work out. Impossible to get anyone on the phone number they give you to cancel and impossible to cancel without being charged more. I have called 10 times this month and never connected off hold, never received a requested call back, and the text function apparently doesn't work either because no one ever comes online after the 'We will connect you to a representative' message is displayed. Lots of places to choose from with better customer service.

What a scammy gym. Signed up for a "free" on month membership to try it out and ended up using it once. When I went to cancel I got charged over $160!? The sales rep was a young guy who said whatever he could to get the close. Had to call customer service to cancel the membership and they werent the least bit helpful, just kept referencing the contract which the sales rep completely lied about. Lesson learned for me READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE PURCHASING!! However I will never recommend this gym to anyone else. I'll just go to Mountainside Fitness

I've been training with Loretta for the past few months and am very happy with the progress I've made and expect to continue to make. She challenges me and has helped me work through a few issues to strengthen and recover my strength and flexibility. Not only that, but she pays attention to any difficulty I may have and and helps me work through the issues. She's definitely the trainer I needed! This location is always clean and appears to be well cared-for. The women's showers and dressing room are immaculate!

Great place to work out. Very Nice clean gym with loads of dumbbells and free weights, smith machines and 4/5 squat cages, plus cable machines. Great staff and lots of amenities. Pros: massage chairs, sauna, pool, b-ball court, classes, gym layout is easy to find weights and machines etc… Cons: Open/close times aren’t the most convenient 5am-10pm and only til 4pm Sunday… extremely busy at peak hours. Especially evenings til 9 pm. No clocks and one TV in the dumbbell section… (overly picky on the last two)

Looks to be a common theme with this place. They promise a no commitment trial then say you checked the box to be billed. It a total scam. I would of never did it if it cost.. Had 2 witnesses that heard the front desk girl say its free and you can cancel no charge. They told me i had to pay. I do not recommend this place as its shady and they lie. Other reviews seem to say the same thing. Would not recommend using this place as they do not work with you even if its there own fault.

Really happy with Vasa. We were unhappy with how eos treat us and their equipment so went on the hunt for a new gym. We tried several out and vasa won. Very clean, not overcrowded, well maintained equipment(this is rare compared to other gyms that were even newer then vasa), sauna, steam room, pool, classes, movie room etc. Customer service is awesome. Never even heard of Vasa before our search started. We are so glad we found them. We highly recommend this gym ️‍♀️ !

Packed during the day make sure you go in the morning unless you want to wait for machines. When you come in the morning be ready to wipe down a lot because I’ve never seen anyone cleaning also be ready to re rack hundreds of pounds of plates i weigh 135 every machine I went two I had to remove at least 4-6 45 Lb plates might go back to la fitness. Either they don’t hire people do to stuff they need to or the people they hired don’t do their jobs.

This gym is the best value for a gym I have ever seen. It has tanning, red light therapy, massage chairs, a movie theatre, sauna, steam room, pool, hot tub, basketball court, spin classes, a sled area, an Olympic area, and much more. The layout is fantastic and the customer service is top notch as well. It’s never overly crowded which is surprising for what they are offering for the price. Again great value for a monthly membership!

Great gym overall. Good machines, great amenities, decent value. People who work there are nice but it would be good if they walked the floor every so often and organized a bit. Not unusual for dumbbells to be missing since inconsiderate people take them somewhere and don't return them. Also, some people drip sweat everywhere and should be told to bring a towel. Finally, the place closes ridiculously early on Sundays.

I go to this gym everyday. I have had no problems or concerns if anything I enjoyed going to this VASA, but after this experience I will not be coming back. One of your employers Gianna had the worst customer service. She was very rude when I was checking in and she was giving me attitude. On top of that she kept ignoring me and was on her phone. Very rude! Once I left I also saw her vape so unprofessional!

Wow! Best gym and value I’ve ever seen! Ever heard of a movie theater in a gym with equipment in there and fun movies showing all day long? They have one! And the Fitness level membership gives you almost every amenity for $18/mo (special offer). Hydro massage chairs! I just retired and looked for a gym and so glad VASA was near me! I highly recommend it!

Not a fan of this company. They are one of the few gyms at this price point that offers a sauna and steam room and it seems like every time I come to use these amenities they are broken. When I have asked employees if they have an ETA of repair they are rude and don’t give me a straight answer. Not impressed at all and will be working out at another gym.

It took me awhile to get approved, but now I have a Renew Active membership. I love the club. Patti's aerobics class is great, there are plenty of machines and weights for what I want, they have a steam AND sauna, a room of water massage beds, a far infrared light and a movie theater. The only downside is the water jets in the hot tub are very anemic.

I join VASA to get back into a routine and improve physical fitness. I’ve been doing PT 3 days a week with Loretta Barrera. She is a great coach! Very motivating and pushes me to reach my goals. In just a couple of months I’ve lost body fat and gained muscle with Loretta’s help. The staff are friendly, they gym has everything, I highly recommend!

VASA Fitness is great! So happy I have joined! There are so many cool things about this place, the free weights, hit classes, Cinema cardio area, not to mention steam, sauna and jacuzzi, but my favorite is the massage chairs after my personal trainer Loretta makes me suffer for an hour per week. Claudia and Grace were both understanding of my situation and were amazing! I canceled my LA fitness membership during covid and upon trying to reactivate to get a workout in was going to cost me $100, needless to say I won't be going back to LA fitness and instead of signed up for a membership at VASA!!

The gym was great. Helped me shed 80 pounds. Maybe it was in my head but seemed like I was getting death glares from staff every time I would bring my basketball and shoot by myself. I keep to myself and don't play pick up games. Just felt uncomfortable by the staff. Ended up canceling the membership.

I love all the amenities VASA has to offer. VASAs app makes it super easy to find out what and when classes are taking place. (Very helpful with a busy lifestyle). The employees and instructors are very courteous, knowledgeable and fun to speak with. The whole VASA experience is fun ! No stress.....

I have been a member for over two years. I got my boyfriend to join about 6 months ago. His locker was broken into and wallet was stolen. They busted the lock and took his valuables. Management did nothing about it and really didn’t care about the situation. Beware if you use their locker room. :(

Great gym. Machines are always in working condition. Plenty of free weights. And an awesome area to stretch / do Yoga … Locker room is always clean. Staff is courteous and professional. Only issue is that the steam room seems to break on like a weekly basis. Other than that, I’m a happy customer.

I love this gym I love the instructors in the coaches and the people working at the desk. I have no problem with anybody in the gym and I’ve never had anybody hit on me while I was there. My problem is over a year ago I join this jam and they promised me that the daycare would open and it is not.

It has many pieces of workout equipment including weights, treadmills & massage beds. The staff is friendly and Patti one of the instructors is excellent!! There's also a pool and basketball court. The other members I've met are there to workout and they don't interfere with your training.

The club is nice but Loretta, my coach is the best thing that’s happened to me this year. After only 5 sessions, I feel stronger, younger, and more confident. Her style is different than any other trainer I’ve had before and I love it so much that I look forward to our sessions.

It’s an okay gym. Pretty to look at and reasonably priced. Staff is friendly and leave you alone for the most part. The machines are outdated and often broken, though. Right now, many of the machines are down. Time to upgrade your stuff, Vasa! How about some Pelotons?

Very polite staff, clean equipment, everyone keeps to themselves, 1000x better than EOS; im starting to notice that a new machine is broken every week and that the screen in the theater was sitting on a desktop wallpaper for multiple days in a row.

VASA has a bunch of teenagers loitering. They don’t have towels, locks on the lockers, or soap/bathroom amenities. It is cheap though, so you get what you pay for. Also the steam/sauna and hot tub is shared with both genders which is uncomfortable.

Quite spacious, large, multiple machines... Steam, sauna, jacuzzi, pool, massage room, tanning room. Plus all the mandatory bars and bells and mats. Large place, accommodates many at the same time. And a basketball court too. Friendly staff.

Great gym! I know this might be a corporate thing, but for sanitary purposes, it would be great to incorporate toilet seat covers and paper towels in the bathrooms - hand dryers just pick up the air from the ground, which is yet dirty

The Aqua zumba class with Rene was great! I recently had a total hip replacement and he guided me thru the class to show me my limits for now. Also he's fun and kept us going with humor and great music! Try it! You'll like it!

Studio Red membership is affordable and instructor Grace is amazing! Since my last review, the gym has extended their Sunday hours which is appreciated! The Revive credit system continues to be a challenge to track in the app.

I would personally recommend Loretta. She challenges, supports and encourages me to be my best self. I've increased discipline, improved form,  increased muscle and lost weight. My sessions are challenging yet rewarding.

Great first experience, however there are a few complaints of ours. When a machine is out of order, expect it to be out for over a week. Also, the sanitation stations seem to have little to no hand sanitizer on a daily.

I Like the gym but I feel like it’s not clean enough, you do see a lot of dust build up around most equipment & seems like they don’t care on ordering new equipment for the cable towers. Overall great gym though.

I’m a new member & so far, I’ve been so impressed!! I’m using the pool for rehab & it’s just perfect The hot tub & massaging chair finishes off my workout. There’s so much more to look forward to

This gym has everything I need at a reasonable price including very friendly and helpful staff!! I have never really liked or enjoyed going to the gym, but this gym is amazing

It’s clean, ample equipment and nice circuit zone. Basketball court is nice and pools seem clean. What else is there to say? I don’t pay a lot and it’s got everything I need.

Nice staff. Clean workout areas. It’s rare to see any machines that are not working compared to previous gym /EOS / always had multiple machines broke Also not overcrowded

Great gym. Family and I tried the free trial period with no pressure to join. Newer equipment, lots of amenities, and clean facility. Reasonable prices. Decided to join.

Great gym, great amenities, great staff. Good place to work out without being hassled constantly about trainers. Fun classes. Pool and courts are a big plus!

The steam room and sauna haven’t worked in over a month. I’ve complained to the staff many times and they say they will fix it, nothing changes.
