We had a very poor experience on Boxing Day when we brought our 16 year old dog, Sasha to Vets Now in Zetland Road, Bristol. We normally take her to Nature's Vet in Radstock and thought our emergency Vet was Rosemary Lodge in Bath which is just 7 miles away. However, when we rang Natures Vet on Boxing Day, after Sasha's back legs had given way, we were told we had to drive into Bristol to Vets Now. We had no idea where the surgery was and without our Sat Nav we would not have found it. When we arrived Sasha was taken by staff on a stretcher to the back of the surgery, put in a kennel alone,we were not allowed to go through with her. We waited and waited to speak to a Vet and assumed Sasha was being seen by a Vet, however, this didn't happen for over 2 hours and she just left in a kennel out the back on her own. When we were finally called in after over two hours by a Vet she offered no clear explanation as to why Sasha's legs had given way. We decided as there was no definite treatment prescribed by the Vet to take her home so she could rest and hopefully recover enough for us to take her to our own Vet after the bank holidays. We were charged £289 for this consultation and left very upset and disappointed at the two hour wait and the service we received. Sadly, when we got home and settled Sasha down on her bed, she collapsed again and passed away. The stress of taking her to Bristol and the wait she had before being examined was totally unacceptable. Sasha was 16 years old and had a happy and healthy life until that day. I think it was totally unreasonable and cruel for her to have had to wait for over two hours to be seen by a Vet and I am particularly upset for us not to have been allowed to be near her when she had to wait for over two hours for a Vet to see her. She was in unfamiliar surroundings, in a kennel on her own, without us being beside her. This is something I will never forget. She was such a special dog, who gave so much love to everyone over her 16 years. She deserved more then this in her last hours.

I called the vet with a older dog who I was very worried about. The vet would not give me a clear yes or no as to whether we needed to bring her in, I felt, because she was busy already. I made the decision to bring her in at 330am. Good job I did. She may well have died if I hadn’t. When I got there, I couldn’t gain access. So had to call the receptionist, who didn’t greet me well. My dog was poorly right outside the door of the vets while we were waiting to be let in. It wasn’t cleared up probably and it was gastro related. The next morning when I collected my dog, there flies flying around the entrance where she had been poorly and you smell and see blood. The day dogs were coming and going up and down the ramp where she had been poorly, probably picking up the virus! The bill from 330am to 730am (the time they wanted her collected) was almost £900. And all I got were text reminder after text reminder, when my dog was critically ill at the small animal hospital. Will never use this practice again.

I attended late at night on 4th July with a very sick 5 year old female dachshund who was keep in over night because she was bleeding from her back end. They cared for her over night and put her on a drip and painkillers. I was told to come and collect between 7.15am-745am the next day 5th July which I did. On collecting my pet I was very concerned my animal was in no fit state to be released from their care but was assured by Hattie the vet should would be ok to travel to Portishead to my vet. By the time i got to my vet my animal was in such a poor state of health and died by 9am on 5th July. Two vets at my own practice in Portishead said my dog was in no fit state to be released from their care having read the case notes and examined my dog. I will be making a formal complaint about this practice as my dog should never have been released from their care.

We had a bad experience at this vet. They were only able to do a partial eye examination of our dog as they stated 'he wiggled around too much' - but for some reason didn't call us in from the waiting room to hold him, which would have been really easy. However, we were charged the full amount - almost £300 for a late night visit. As they failed to add their statement into the examination notes the company now refuses to give us a least a partial refund. So firstly they didn't to a good job with our dog, then they lied in the documentation and thirdly their customer service is terrible. It took them over a month to come back to us. I am looking into ways to take this further legally.

My kitten fractured his leg following a fall so had to take him to the out of hours vets. They said they couldn’t X-ray as he was too distressed and told me to go to my normal vets in the morning. Whilst they did give him pain relief, charging me over £350 to give my kitten some pain relief and sending to my normal vets is, in my opinion criminal. I won’t ever use them again. It has also transpired that my kitten had a displaced fracture which due to the time elapsed may now affect his growth. In my honest opinion, had they done their job and checked him out sooner he would have been operated on up to 2 days earlier and would have had a better chance of recovery. DO NO USE THIS VET

Grossly overcharged but I’m assuming it was because it was a Sunday. My dog had a 2cm cut in his leg which had stopped bleeding by the time we got to the vets. Felt what could have taken 10 mins was stretched out so they could charge me £386!! He had his leg shaved, the cut cleaned and dressed. I was supplied with a cone of shame which I didn’t use. He ripped the dressing off within the hour so my daughter redressed it and it stayed firmly in place until I removed it today. I had to pay £250 deposit there and then which basically almost wiped out my bank balance. Will I get this back from the insurance company? The nurse and the vet were lovely but I feel nice been robbed

Came in after our dog had ingested daffodils and became unwell. Luckily she had vomited the bad stuff out and was showing no further symptoms when we arrived. We were able to sit, chat and the receptionist played with the dog. After about 20 minutes it was clear our dog was fine. We apologised and the receptionist assured us it was fine, made us feel very welcome and gave us peace of mind. The receptionist let us know the opening hours, the service they provide, she explained the charges, and how we would claim on our insurance. All in all, a very positive experience and I feel very confident in the service if ever I have to use them again.

Terrible receptionist on the phone, he was extremely unskilled and sounded like he just didn’t want us to come in as it was nearly closing time for them… He said that the symptoms that I described didn’t sound very concerning to him and advised that I should wait for my local vets to open. But guess what? My dog actually sadly passed away… So he was extremely unhelpful, unprofessional and clueless, I would not recommend this place at all. To the company: You should train your employees more - they should definitely NOT be taking the phone calls if they do not know what they are talking about. Pets’ lives could be on their hands.

I am so impressed by the wonderful staff at this emergency vets. We brought our little dog Indy in on Saturday evening after he had been knocked over up on The Downs. I must confess we were in a complete panic at the sight of his injuries, but these wonderful nurses and vets sprang into action and took him straight in to be assessed, calming and reassuring us at the same time. He was given fantastic care and treatment and although it is early days I am hopeful of a complete recovery. I cannot praise them enough. Thoroughly recommended.

BE AWARE My cat was in severe pain throwing up constantly during the day. I got worried and I brought him to the vet. 320 pound visit for them to assess his belly and send him home. No X-rays, no blood exams, nothing. "Just wait and see if he gets better, everything should be fine by touch, if tomorrow is still the same bring him again to the vet" What kind of vets are you? Charging so much money for what? If I only knew I would have waited the next day. Stay away unless you have no other choices.

My pug was very sick with a mystery Illness and he had to be hospitalised overnight as my vets don’t have the capacity for through the night care. I was dubious about the cost initially as I have no pet insurance but am happy to say it was worth every penny. Lovely staff, the most helpful vet and unprompted updates from the surgery until quite late. A good handover the next morning and Kevin was really cared for. I would use again for any of mine, would recommend. Thank you all.

  • Liam McKinnon

Perfectly happy with the veterinary care received when I brought my dog in. However, I am very disappointed with the insurance process. I paid £25 for Vets Now to administer the insurance details, yet I am 2 weeks on from the appointment and this has not been done, nor do Vets Now answer emails or phone calls so I'm unable to speak to anyone on this matter. I was told this £25 fee would 'speed up the process'. It is doing the opposite - delaying my claim. Not happy.

The vets at Zetland road were kinds and patients. Sorry that I couldn't get their names. They explained the situation and gave me time to be with my dog. To talk to her and crying out my pain, as I have to take one of the hardest decision, say goodbye to my life partner. Chancla was 15 years and 5 month old when she was putted sleep. Thank you for being comprehensive and give me the time that I needed to say goodbye to her.

  • Sol SilverSandals

Vet was really good prompt action, I think was Rebecca Armstrong, she was really nice and explained everything in details. Reception at the clinic was nice but slow, and minimum attention to details, wrote all my details wrong, (whole name) even though I spelled it, send the paperwork in the end to the wrong email, eventhough I wrote it down and spelled it. But most important dog is doing well. Thanks

  • Vicky Sutherland

I'm afraid I think I should have been given the option of my cat being put down before embarking on eye watering treatment.I knew from looking at her that she wasn't going to recover. Yet I've been left with having to make an insurance claim which I'm getting stressed about as I'm not being kept up to date with. My sister has just recovered from sepsis so I've been stressed anyway.

This practice was amazing ,from the minute we stepped through the door, treated with.respect and dignity at all times. All the staff was spectacular, could not of been treated better. Care was excellent ,regular updates ,and monitoring of my fur baby. Was given the opportunity to spend time with her, without being rushed . Fantastic send off, would highly recommend this fabulous team.

  • Laur Barker

They were absolutely brilliant. Had to rush my dog in at 21:30 they saw him straight away and were very good at explaining the process and risks of treatment. A lovely lady who worked there had sat with him for a few minutes whilst I went to the toilet so he wasn’t alone. My boy is now all better. If I was local, I’d register with these.

  • Sarah-jane Dalton

Seen these vets out of hours on a Sunday for my very nervous Jack Russell who was limping. We were seen within 20 mins and the lady vet was absolutely wonderful she even managed to take bloods and I felt my little girl was safe in there hands! Thank you Vets Now if I was nearer I would definitely be changing my vets for you guys!

  • Becky Lane

My dog went in as an emergency she was very dehydrated & sickness & upset tummy. The staff at the vets were prompt to see me as soon as I came in. The. Reassured me about my dog & also gave me updates while they kept my dog in to be treated. I am so grateful to the staff & all did a great job for her. So grateful for everything.

  • Rebecca Donnelly

Hattie and Phoebe were absolutely brilliant over the weekend looking after our poorly cat. They rang twice a day to give us updates and did everything the could to make the transition from emergency out of hours weekend care to the usual weekday care as easy as possible. Very grateful for all of their help and support!

  • Alexandra Billington

The vet was good, however, post-appointment, I keep being sent messages saying I have an outstanding balance - despite paying the £25 admin fee for a direct claim. I haven’t been able to get hold of Customer Service to check it’s all ok/being processed. Which is additional stress, when you’re worried about your pet.

  • Natalie

Vets Now were brilliant, from the moment I called them all the way through to leaving the clinic. The staff were amazing - very kind, caring and reassuring. I'm so grateful that they were there when we needed them and my cat Kenny is starting to feel much better now with the medication provided. Thank you!

  • Rachel

I needed an Emergency Appointment one evening for my Dog. We were seen quickly and the blood tests and treatment started immddiately. They were all so kind and caring and really reassured me. The only negative is the cost it is far more expensive for an Emergency visit which I happily paid.

  • Natasha Roberts

We had to bring our cat in on a Sunday as he's diabetic and had gone hypo. We could see they were pretty busy so we were there over an hour but the vet asked loads of questions and took notes. They tested his blood and gave us our options with advice. The staff were polite and helpful.

  • stuart campbell

The vets were lovely but the process was awful. I had to drive to a vets an hour away in an emergency and the cost was roughly 3 times what I would have paid previously for a similar out of hours service from my vets. And yes I know I can now send them an e mail if I want......

  • Chris Barham

Exemplary overnight care for our poorly kitten Belle. Thorough going over details of care, costs and next steps. Prompt supplying of invoices and receipts to ease stress of insurance claims. The staff were really caring and Belle clearly was looked after well. Thank you.

  • Kate Wood

Excellent service. My dog had an injury and I wanted her checked for neurological compromise on a Saturday evening. She was seen within 20 mins and the vet called me to discuss and make a plan. Very happy and reassuring to know that kind of service is there when needed.

  • Kevlar Moore

Excellent fast/friendly service The Vets, Nurses and entire Staf were so friendly to me and my kitten Simba, made me feel extremely comfortable to leave him there over night for observations with Excellent feed back the following morning on how he was through the night

  • Elaine Thomas

Excellent service, really quick & helpful. Vet was brilliant. Only reason for not giving five stars was the cost. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap as it was a Sunday emergency visit, but it was a scary amount. Thankfully I pay insurance, which will cover it.

  • Rachelle Miller

I had to bring my cat to vets now due to her struggling to breathe the vets were brilliant looking after her. Unfortunately she was very poorly i had to make the toughest decision to put her to sleep. The vet was amazing as i had my young daughter with me

  • Amber Fitzgibbon

I bought my 9 week old pup in who came to me poorly, suspected Parvo which wasn’t the case, turned out he had an obstruction in his tummy, they kept him comfortable for the weekend and preformed ultrasounds until I could get him back to his

  • nigel benton

The vet we saw was excellent. The time we had to wait to see her was unacceptable. We are happy to pay a very high fee for emergency care but then expect to be treated as an emergency and seen as such. There was no assessment of our dog’s

  • maggie hatch

Excellent service, we were seen quickly and all the staff at the practice were friendly and professional. However, whilst accepting the additional costs of providing an out of hours service, I felt that the high charge was hard to justify.

  • peter unknown

not happy with this vet service. when we took our sick dog in, the nurse bombarded us with scary numbers, like it could cost 9k also dog would have 40% chance of survival. on their website it was 80%. we arranged a payment scheme but they

  • Aguer Bior

Literally the worst experience of our lives dealing with this lot. Unprofessional..they left a voicemail saying our Dogs ashes were ready after we explained we’re going on holiday. Made the holiday worse and all they say is we don’t know

  • Karen Howell

Excellent emergency veterinary care received at 11pm when our 11 year old retriever needed help quickly. Extremely grateful to all the staff who helped Maddie Absolutely, brilliant out of hours veterinary care. Thank you

  • Susan Wakley

My experience was excellent but I feel charging an out of hours fee of £250 is unfair as it’s a hospital and is staffed out if hours anyway. It’s not as if the vet has to come into the hospital especially to treat your animal

  • gill powell

It was dreadful. We are putting in a complaint. It was over 1.5 hours to bd seen when it should have been treated as an emergency. When we eventually saw a vet she was good but the message didn’t get to her from reception
